Life is full of connections.
Some are very apparent. Some become seen in time. Some remain almost unnoticed. Yet all have impact.
In "Hopes and Expectations", Richard Frost continues to explore these impacts on the lives of everyday folk in the community of Eastwood Minster with empathy, insight and a delightful seasoning of humour.
It is easy to relate to the characters in this story, both old and new. One wants to know how things will work out for them as they face difficult challenges and see opportunities they could take.
So this book certainly lived up to my "expectations" and I have "hope" that there will be more books to come in this series as these life journeys are enriching.

A beautiful book exploring the ups and downs of life
Building on from the first two Eastwood books this enjoyable and delightful book explores the reality, fragility, joy, hopes, ups and downs of everyday life.
Richard Frost has the ability to write fiction in a manner by which it can also be material that can be used for reflection.
Life is often not straightforward, joy can be found in little things, happiness can be found in challenging situations, and inner peace can be found in different ways and with different people.
Embracing life both the good times and not so good times is what the characters in this book do. Just like real people the characters have good qualities and also some imperfections, this book shows that overcoming adversities is possible, kindness makes all the difference and that laughter, love and loyalty are often the keys to contentment, happy families and happy and healthy communities.

‘Hopes and Expectation’ is the third engaging novella in Richard Frost’s ‘Eastwood’ series. It lives up to its predecessors, for this author has the enviable gift of writing compassionately about believable people facing the joys and problems that life brings us in ‘ordinary’ life: bereavements and births, friendships, fallings-out, disability and determination, personal growth… and he has a nice line in referencing pop and rock. There is a charm about this book and the inhabitants of Eastwood, and I would like to hear/read more of their affairs.

This is the third in the Eastwood series and I have read all three. They are readable and cover important topics. However there are a lot of characters and a lot of topics covered which is commendable but didn't quite work for me.
