"Honor" was Texas tycoon Sterling Churchill's middle name. So when a mix-up at the local sperm bank unexpectedly made him a father-to-be, he gallantly stepped forward to marry shy beauty Susan Wilkins. It was a marriage in name only - until he gave his bride a soul-spinning kiss.
Now his new wife was carrying his child and wearing a look of pure splendor. Could tough-as-nails Sterling open the rusty doors of his heart... and turn pumpkins into coaches for his Cinderella bride?
Five wealthy Texas bachelors - all members of the state's most exclusive club - set out on a mission to rescue a princess... and find true love.
Jean M. Heaton, alias Caroline Cross, lives and write just outside of Seattle with her husband and daughters, one very large hairy dog and one picky little Siamese cat.
She says: "I will never forget the first time I read a Silhouette Desire. An avid reader of everything *except* category romance, I was surprised to find myself swept up in the magic of two strong people falling irrevocably in love against all odds. It was both a moving and exhilarating experience, and one I do my best to recreate for my readers. For me, every new book is an adventure. I love strong, larger-than-life heroes, heroines with the courage to take chances, the roller coaster ride of two special people coming together – and always, happy endings."
Ah the mix-up at the sperm bank. The surprise babies resulting from that must be in the millions about now! Seriously, how often does this happen? And when it happens to a billionaire, don't you think he would sue the sperm bank to rock-bottomness?
Anyway, besides this the story also has a bit of a Cinderella theme, the typical shy virgin vs. arrogant billionaire stuff, but even with all that it was surprisingly good.
Sterling was very rough around the edges and overbearing, but the touches of kindness were there from the start.
Susan might be a shy librarian, but she had promised herself she would stand up for herself and her baby, and she did, and I was soooo proud of her.
I've got a soft spot for these Cattleman's Club stories, without really knowing why, I think because they are so out there. The princess plot doesn't really play a big part here, but I am intrigued by the previous couple and the following couple, so I'm getting those as well. I love that Harlequin Treasury is making so much of these available!
It's filled with clichees, but I loved it anyways.
I liked this book better than Texas Millionaire, I connected more with these characters but I still feel something was missing. This author also did a good job at leading up to the next story and I can't wait to read Forrest and Becky's book. :)
Not sure if it's 4 stars or more like 3.5 stars, but I definitely liked this one a lot more than Texas Millionaire. A sweet heroine and no huge, drawn-out misunderstandings.

My thoughts: It was an okay story - interesting due to the sperm bank mishap
