Idk whether to be happy or mad 🤣 on one hand Rina absolutely bottles every female character she writes so happy that she's not gonna be degrading another woman.

On the other hand didn't she say she would only write M/M if she felt like the story was good and told us not to expect many M/M books in the future but then she also decided to release three M/M books as soon as she saw the love god of fury got?? brooo the description of this series says that all the books in this series will be male x male 😭😭 I don't have a problem with M/M but after saying shit like that she goes ahead and just dedicated an entire series to it is so 🤡 she just saw the success of God of Fury and saw how much money that brought in and completely changed her narrative and is now doing this. It's literally a cash grab and you can't defend that 😭🙏🏻

It's not even that- I heard that there were booktokers who are gay and read her book, hated and critiqued them on how what she wrote felt too stereotypical and wrong and she blocked them 😭 I just think she writes it because has some weird fetish or she's money obsessed, I don't see any passion or creativity in it.

Also, lets just leave that be- Wasn't Vaughn with a girl? who he was loyal to? Maybe she'll make the woman a cheater as compensation 🤪

I’ve been debating whether or not to write this, but it’s been bothering me. My FYP is flooded with discussion about Rina Kent’s upcoming book, so I thought I’d throw in my two cents since everyone is talking about it.

People are absolutely allowed to be upset and entitled to their opinions. But giving an unreleased book a 1-star rating without even reading it, calling for a boycott of Rina Kent’s comment section, and labelling the book a “bad idea” is not just unnecessary - it’s downright hateful. And honestly, it’s not a good look on you.

1. Vaughn

Yes, Vaughn has been referenced throughout The Legacy of Gods series, but not in a way that gives us a deep understanding of who he is - his personality, his thoughts, his struggles. Rina is the author; she knows him better than anyone, and she’s shaping his story the way she sees fit. Assuming we know better than the author about a character we’ve barely seen on-page is quite frankly ridiculous. Let’s reserve judgement until we actually read Vaughn’s story and see who he is in his own book.

2. The “Girlfriend”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Rina never even stated Vaughn had a long-term girlfriend in a published book - it was mentioned once in a Facebook post. I get that words matter, but authors change their minds all the time. Aelin was originally meant to end up with Dorian, and look how that turned out - she and Rowan became perfection!!

Even if Vaughn had a girlfriend, so what? People evolve. Relationships end. That doesn’t mean there has to be cheating or a character death to justify it. Maybe Vaughn’s bisexual or pansexual - we don’t know because we haven’t read his book yet. Personally, I suspect Rina had no concrete plans for Vaughn’s story back when she made that throwaway “girlfriend” comment; it might have just been to stop readers from pestering her about him. Now that she’s decided to give Vaughn a book, she’s free to take his story in whatever direction makes sense for the character’s growth.

3. Money Grab

Let’s talk about this so-called “money grab.” As if authors aren’t allowed to make money? (Rina, go get your coins, girl!). Rina Kent has been writing M/F romances for ages - she has over 50 books/novellas in her catalog​ and many of them do follow similar dark academia/mafia romance formulas. If I had been writing the same type of story for that long, I’d burn out too. And honestly, some readers have noted that her recent M/F books were starting to feel repetitive​. So is it really a shock that she wants to branch out and try something new?

God of Fury is her first experience with M/M romance, and from the way she’s spoken about it, you can tell how much it brought new energy to her creativity. (She even celebrated the one-year anniversary of GoF by reminding us it was her first MM book after years of holding back, which shows how special it is to her.)

Maybe - just maybe - she’s found something new that excites her. And if people end up loving this new direction too, why wouldn’t she continue writing what she’s passionate about? That’s not a cash grab; that’s an author growing and delivering stories readers enjoy.

At the end of the day, if you don’t like the direction a book or series is going, that’s fine - skip it, or wait for reviews from others you trust. But tearing it down before it’s even out - giving it a 1-star rating without reading it, or harassing the author over her creative choices - isn’t valid criticism. It’s entitlement, and it’s not a good look.

Just something to think about.

Kirill, CONGRATULATIONS! Let’s be real: Rina has a serious problem with women. Why are they always villains in her books? The girlfriend will 100% be a cheater, mark my words. 😭 Rina has no issue dragging women through the mud, but when it comes to M/M, it’s suddenly all healthy and respectful? 💀 Double standards much?

And the most telling part? Actual gay readers critiqued her M/M books as stereotypical, and instead of listening, she blocked them. 💀 Yeah, that screams integrity.

TL;DR:
✧ Rina’s chasing GOF hype so hard, it’s embarrassing. 🤑
✧ Vaughn was said to be loyal to his girlfriend, now he’s in an MM book? 🤡
✧ Rina clearly doesn’t like women. The girlfriend is gonna be a cheater.
✧ Critique her MM books? She blocks you. Very telling.
✧ Fanfics are better. This book ain't it.

Kirill & Sasha supremacy though. 🛐 They're the only thing holding this book together. I’m living for them and could care less about the mess surrounding Vaughn.

When my first and second and third reaction to this book being MM is disappointment, then I know what it means for me. And for those who are accusing us of being homophobes, how stupid and narrow-minded of you to say that, What do you think we are? We are romance book readers, this means that we have read about sexual combinations and situations that will make MM look like vanilla. So it is not about that, it is about forcing a story that doesn't fit in the mafia Genre and the Mafia Trope and this mafia world created by RK since her mafia world includes family and traditions and judgement and not so much tolerance. So I am supposed to believe that the almighty Vaughn is stupid enough to fall in love with a hoe who cheats on him, or most importantly that not 1 but 3 Bratva heirs (Vaughn and Yulian and Niko) and their seconds in command and who knows what more characters in this series are all gay and that everyone in the bratva is happy about it. Even on the MM level, having 2 alphas as gays doesn't work. VAUGHN is the HEIR of the Russian Mafia and the future Pakhan and needs to get married, produce an heir, keep the bratva together, and be respected and taken seriously by other mafia families. There are so many things that need to be twisted in order to force this story and the HEA. I already know that it will not be a good book since it doesn't make sense on so many levels and no amount of smut can make this a good book when the plot is not plotting.

You can pry this book out of my cold dead hands, and carve Vaughn Morozov out of my unbeating heart.

Like I understand being disappointed, I know Rina said he had a girlfriend and was loyal like Kirill, a few years(?) ago on Facebook. Some of you all are acting like she signed a blood contract to make him stay with that girlfriend forever and like she swore on the bible that he's straight and gonna get a book with his GiRlFrIeNd, but did we ever actually see his girlfriend? No, we barely even saw Vaughn.
But the comments and things I've been seeing said about this book aren't coming from disappointment, like they're so disgusting and frankly disturbing.

In the last hour I've seen people suggesting to flood all her socials with messages demanding she changed Vaughn's love interest into a female because they imagined his as straight and clearly she baited them. And another person proposed making a petition to make the book FM. And you can't tell me that's only from disappointment.

Some are saying to cancel her for making Vaughn queer and how she is ruining him. Other's are saying they're gonna pretend this book doesn't exist and that he's straight.

Like by all means if it's not for you don't read it. Everyone reads what they enjoy. But just because you're against it doesn't mean everyone is. You don't have to read it but some of us want to.

People are going on and on about how this doesn't fit Vaughn's character when in fact Vaughn absolutely doesn't have a character yet. I can't speak for Kiss the Villain because it's not out yet but the only time we actually see Vaughn saying something and showing his 'personality' was in the epilogue of Monster trilogy when he's a little kid.
Adult Vaughn said 0 things, appeared once with a mask and was only mentioned a handful of times. We don't know anything about him now. But people are speaking as if he's their next door neighbor and they know him personally.

People are acting as if they're entitled to dictate the story and like Rina owes it to them to write it exactly how they imagined it and that's absolutely not the case. This is her book, these are HER characters and she can do whatever she wants with them! You don't know what fits Vaughn's character but Rina literally created him so I'd assume she does.

Everyone is saying how he is supposed to be with Damien's and Mio's daughter but ... does she even exist? I still haven't finished the whole Rinaverse so maybe I just didn't see it but is it even confirmed Damien and Mio have kids/a daughter?

It's being said she has an MM fetish and that all her recent books are MM. This year she's publishing 3 books and 2 of those are FM so I don't exactly see it?
And I'm sorry if this triggers you but she actually writes pretty good MM. God of Fury was amazing, and I'm certain KTV will be too. Not to mention people were asking for more MM books but how dare she do it now when it's Vaughn.

Also you don't know what happened with his girlfriend! First off he was 17/18 like a lot happens in that period of your life. Second just because he's loyal doesn't mean she was. Or maybe there was a whole another reason they broke up, maybe they just went separate ways, did you all want him to kidnap her and hold her in his basement? Maybe there was some big betrayal, like maybe she only got close to him because he was Pakhan's son and had an ulterior motive.
Point is, you don't know what happened. There could be so much story and plot there.

And let's be real (I'm only speaking for a certain group of people now) is the problem Vaughn being queer and in a relationship with a guy? Or the fact that his love interest is a guy and you can't self-insert yourself as the FMC and imagine you're his girlfriend?

Like I'm here for Vaughn, because I find him intriguing as a character and want to read more about him in general. I'm not here because he has a girlfriend.
Be real, do you want his book or do you only want to imagine you're dating him?

At least Yulian isn't a blonde, short, petite, virgin woman like 95% of Rina's other FMC's.

I apologize for the rant but some people are being way too dramatic, acting as if Rina personally attacked them and like the world is gonna go up in flames if Vaughn has a boyfriend.

Someone whined about Rina blocking them because they sent her a message asking her to pls not make Vaughn gay, it doesn't suit him. You know what, good for her! Good for her! Because she had every right to block them.
Rina also went on to post a story, having to in fact remind people, that these are her characters and her stories. And that they don't have the right to dictate how and what she writes for those characters. The characters she made up, the characters who you wouldn't whine about being your fictional boyfriends if she hadn't made them. Gay, bi, pan or whatever sexuality Vaughn is gonna be, you don't actually have a right to complain to her. Because you're complaining about a character who wouldn't exist without her. With pretty much no respect, you don't know what fits his character!
Your behaviour is pretty much like a stranger coming up to a mom with a baby in a park and telling her she doesn't know her baby but YOU do, you know her baby better than she does. Hear how ridiculous that sounds?

I really hope people won't actually harass and bully her into changing the story or making Vaughn straight or into giving up on the book altogether. That's just disgusting behaviour and it says so much about people who are trying to do just that.

My fingers are numb actually so I'm gonna finish this by saying I stand with my cancelled husbands, Vaughn and Yulian. Who are two boys ... who kiss!

So disappointed to hear how this book will turn out. At this point, it’s frustrating to see the same patterns play out in Rina Kent’s stories, particularly in how she writes her female characters. Every time, they either end up being mentally ill, serial killers, or just outright evil. It’s as if a complex, morally gray woman can’t exist without being villainized.

Let me not even speak on how Rai couldn’t lead the bratva because being led by a woman is frowned upon as if being led by a gay dude isn’t. It’s quite obvious what’s at play here.

Then there’s the issue of recycled tropes. Instead of offering something fresh, the author keeps repackaging old dynamics into new books—even when they don’t fit. Vaughn’s character, for instance, was never meant to be "as loyal as his daddy" if his girlfriend wasn’t written to match that same level of loyalty. Yet here we are, bending established character traits to force a trope that doesn’t work.

I honestly don’t know what the thought process was behind this or who thought it was a good idea—but it’s not. This book had potential, but if it follows the same tired formula, it’s going to be another disappointment.

I get it, Vaughn was supposed to be loyal to his girlfriend. All the haters are saying that it's just a money grab because of the success Rina's other MM book 'God of Fury' got. I don't know what to think anymore. And yes, Rina DOES degrade most a lot of female characters in her books. I actually really dislike some of her books, but...

I LOVED KISS THE VILLAIN. I am in the uhh extreme minority here 😂 and I am currently sharpening my pitchfork in preparation to defend myself against all the haters who will now probably hunt me down 😭😭 and stab stab STAB me.

I really don't mind her writing her m/m books, but I expected my Vaughn not to be part of it. She said he had a GIRLFRIEND and that he was loyal to her, just like his father was with Sasha, and she took that away from us 💔💔.
