This was an okay story, but I didn’t like it quite as much as ‘Pieces of Me’.

I liked Jace, but he really frustrated me in this book. I really felt like just slapping him to knock some sense into him at times, and in several places I just could not believe what he was doing!

The storyline was good, but again, I thought Jace made some frustrating decisions. I couldn’t quite believe what was happening at times, and I really just did not know what to do with Jace!
There was some romance, but again, Jace drove me nuts with one of the decisions he made romantically.

The ending to this was okay, and I was glad that Peyton and Jace got a happy ending. I didn’t quite like this as much as the first book in the series though.
7 out of 10.

This is the second book in my Foundation series and completely in Jace's POV. So many people fell in love with Jace from POM and wanted to delve more into his background...that's why I wrote the Fighter.

I am hoping to publish his story this fall.

Unbelievable

Doesn't get much better, this is an awesome series. I'm enjoying it thoroughly, and just want to be left alone so I can read it. I am starting the third and final book next (fingers crossed I am not interrupted). I don't want it to end but also can't wait to for find out how this ends. Highly recommend this series.

The Fighter. I was lucky enough to receive both The Fighter and Pieces of Me by the lovely Kira in exchange for an honest review. And she did not disappoint me at all. If anything she made me love her books more. The Fighter is a beautiful, heartfelt book based on the overcoming loss an realising where your heart truly lies.

Peyton and Jace. We come across them again in this book and I couldn't have been any happier. Peyton. The amount of strength this girl had after everything she had been through had me weak in the knees. And Jace. There were moments when I wanted to sock him in the head with a chair, but I couldn't stay mad at him. He was made for Peyton. His mistakes and wrongdoings just made it all clearer just how strong and pure his love for Peyton was. And this book was all about Jace's journey along a road full of unplanned circumstances and more love than he could ever dream of.

The Fighter is a perfect example of how you deal with life after so much loss and change. It was beautiful reading this book from Jace's perspective. I felt so connected to him. I felt everything. All because of this amazing author.

Splendid job, Kira. Another hit out of the park for you. Truly fantastic.

(I received a copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.)

Actual rating - 3.5

The Fighter was a good read, but i didn't like it as much as Pieces of Me.

I liked Jace, but not quite as much as i did in book one. He made a few dodgy decisions where romance was concerned, which really frustrated me. He made a few other decisions that weren't exactly great either, but his heart was in the right place with those, and one of them took a lot of courage.

Just like the first book, there was a couple of things in this that i didn't expect. They happened at the right time too, as they livened things up when my interest started to waver.

Overall, A decent sequel.

This series is nothing if not completely real. It starts and ends at two different ends of the spectrum, but the journey in between is completely entrancing. Peyton is, like many of us, a girl lacking in self esteem and it is holding her back. Enter Jace. He is nothing she ever could have expected, even when he's a disappointment. There's nothing like falling in love, and nothing as heartbreaking as the ups and downs and downright terrible things it can make you do. I found myself rooting for people I'd originally cast off. And I found myself over and over again thinking, wow, this is what it's like to be young and unsure of yourself and trying to navigate a serious relationship at the same time. It isn't easy and it isn't rainbows and unicorn farts, as Peyton might say.

In The Fighter, we switch to Jace's pov, an interesting change and one that shows us a different perspective on Peyton. Jace has more to deal with than one person can handle and it isn't something he seems able to admit. I kept hoping things would get better, these poor kids have all these things getting in the way of their happily ever after. Can't they catch a break?

***I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***
I have read several (probably all) of Kira Adam's books and think she is a great author, however some of her books have younger, high school age characters and those generally are not my favorite. I rated book 1 in this series 3 stars, it was well written but not my cup of tea. Before I even realized this was the next book in the series I requested a copy because it sounded enticing...I then realized that I didn't love book 1 and went into this cautiously.
Now, after all that background that you may or may not care about, did you notice I gave this one 5 stars. High school or not, this book had me sucked in...like read chapters here and there while cooking dinner, working, pretty much everything but driving! I think this term is completely overused but "this book was a roller coaster ride".
Book 1 in the series was through the lead female, Peyton's, point of view and this story switches to Jace (Peyton's boyfriend's) point of view.
Jace has a rough life, lost most of the people important to him and in the process repeatedly saves Peyton's life. Throughout the story Jace feels like he hurts everyone around him and cause pain to everyone around him, he doesn't see himself as the hero he really is. One thing about Kira's writing...when it rains, it pours. I picked up on this in book 1 with Peyton, the poor girl had more near deaths and near rapes and just about everything you pray would never happen to anyone you know in high school. Well Jace kind of follows suit...from losing his mom, to losing his twin brother, to being blamed by his dad, losing a lot of peers...should I go on? This is a true love story about a girl that sees something in a boy that he can't see for himself and both understanding that while neither is perfect, they are perfect for each other.
Thank you again Kira for letting me read it, especially knowing that I generally don't like "younger" characters. I loved it!

So after reading book one and exploring all of the usual teenage experiences in that one we begin Book two with Peyton and Jace beginning their senior year. What should be the most exciting time in a young adult's life is still strife with turmoil for our favorite characters.

Jace's father is still on his downward spiral and those scenes are pretty tough to read, it's a hard spot to be in not only for Jace but also Payton because she has experienced first hand how his father beats him. It's a test of their relationship which is still in that new and exciting stage. First love is always one of my favorite tropes to read about in YA novels and this couple is portrayed really truthful. They have their little dust ups but everyone does!

Now while Peyton has came so far from the girl we initially met at the beginning of Pieces of Me she is still having some self doubt issues, and that leads to a few issues over the course of the story. She is still a beautiful character but having a difficult time believing it. I think most women can relate to that haha. Once a remark sinks in no matter how strong and confident you are it can fester and let's doubt sink in.

Now let's discuss the Gia and Jace tension! Holy guacamole! So we meet Gia when her mom and Jace's dad begin dating and their chemistry is off the charts. I know it's going to cause problems. . . Annnnd it does! I was so conflicted haha I wanted Peyton and Jace together but I also liked how he was with Gia and I wanted to know more about her. So I flipped flopped between the two (felt like I was back in high school again!)

This book also took some unexpected twists and turns and life really threw some curveballs at Peyton and Jace. Some terrifying, life changing moments, but with the bad there has to be balance and there were some amazing opportunities also. It's been a wild ride during this story but as our characters leave high school behind the next step is going to take us to new heights.

As a follow up to the first book in the series, Pieces of Me, The Fighter gives us insight into Jace's point of view.

The story picks up in a timeline after the first book ends. It gives us a little more insight into what Jace deals with at home and how his relationship continues with Peyton. I had hoped to get a bit more information on his childhood or his family life than is included, we do get some tidbits in the state of his father and how things might have gotten to the level they do.

Jace endures a lot in this book. There are moments when I was frustrated with the character and then other moments when I adored him. I appreciate the fact that he's always straight forward with Peyton and often speaks from his heart. I had a tough time connecting with some of his more romantic gestures because it makes him seem like he's no typical guy.

I connected with Peyton's personal story more in the first book, but this one was still a good read. It combines elements of suspense and true love with topics of abuse, bullying, school violence, confusing attraction, addiction, perfection, and enabling. Those that liked the song lyrics in the first book can find a few that linger in the first half of this read. Just like the first book, it reads smooth and quickly and leaves the reader just wanting to know more. I would have loved to see some of the scenes flushed out a bit more to make it a bit more meaty and allowing the reader to really bite and chew into the story.

Overall, I enjoyed this book as the extension of Jace and Peyton's relationship and story. Just as her other books, Kira Adams put together a great story that anyone can enjoy.

Wow!! There was so much packed into this novel! I was so honored to be able to Beta Read this novel for Kira. I loved that Peyton and Jace’s story extended beyond one book. The flow of the book was really smooth and quick paced. I thought that it was interesting that you switched perspectives and The Fighter from Jace’s point of view, like Peyton it was interesting to be inside his head. One of the main things I loved about this book was that it centered around trying to be the hero and realizing that not everyone is perfect, we all have imperfections but, what matters is that your perfect in someone’s eyes. I think that is a strong message that will resonate with a lot of people know matter what their age or gender. A lot of powerful and hard hitting situations happened throughout the course of the book and I thought it was interesting to see how each of your characters handled them.

I think that I made this comment when I Beta Read Pieces of Me, your characters are so unique and go through so much that I just want to know MORE about each scene. The book moves at a good pace but felt in some areas that we jumped from one thing to the next as a reader. I want to know more details, I want to know more about everything! You create a world that is so relatable that it makes the reader want to know more.

Overall I thought that it was a fabulous read! I am anxious to read more and I hope that you wont stop after this book because you have a real talent for creating relatable and engrossing stories!

***may contain spoilers****

Once again Kira Adams throws us into a whirlwind of emotions with The Fighter, a brilliantly written story of survival, trust, and just living life. I was enthralled with Jace in Pieces of Me like no other, so finally getting to hear his side of the story was not only exciting, but it proved to be one of the best stories I've had the honor of reading.

Jace is the absolute embodiment of survival; his town nickname of 'hero' more deserving than ever. We already know he had to live through not only the death of his mom but the cruel betrayal and death of his twin brother. But you soon learn that those things almost pale in comparison to the actual life he leads. Over the course of his senior year, the boy we all know turns into the strong, tenacious man Jace becomes in the end of the book. Life and death, heartbreak and happiness, and war and peace are things Jace must go undergo before he can find himself.

Between an abusive (mentally and physically) parent, fighting off a gunman, the death of many near and dear, and the up-in-the-air relationship between Jace and Peyton, this book delivers emotional punch after punch. It will take your breath away, it will leave you emotional and vulnerable, and it will leave you begging for the next chapter into the lives of Jace and Peyton and seeing if they finally get their happily ever after once and for all.

The Fighter by Kira Adams is about Jace and Peyton, but from Jace's viewpoint. Its the next year, senior year, and he and Peyton are together and happy. If only the rest of his life would go so well. His father is abusing him and his world is being held together by will power alone. Other than Peyton, he feels completely alone. Will he fight his way out of the darkness or succumb to it?

This second installment of Foundations is amazing! I loved Peyton's story, but Jace is open and honest. It was easier to find common ground and feel that attachment to main character that you can sympathize with. The pacing was also faster and more grounded. So instead of the jumping, you could follow along really well.

Jace makes his life by doing the right thing, and like everyone knows the right thing is almost always the hard thing to do. But some make it look easy. It was really insightful for the author to take you behind all the glory and show you all the gritty. How people really feel, undeserving, how even a "hero" can be drowning in self doubt and other emotions.

This was a great read, I throughly enjoyed this story!! I would recommend it highy. It is a pretty quick read, but hard to put down, and also this one did not have second book syndrome where you want the last book, after you throw the second one across the room and ask yourself "Why?"

This book starts out with Jace, getting a more in depth look at what his life is like after the death of his brother Jax. We really get into the nitty gritty about what Jace goes through with his father, with his girlfriend Peyton, with struggling with the death of his mother, brother, father, and students at school. Who is Felix? What does Jace learn about him and do for him after they are paired up for an assignment for their History class? What historical event does Jace suggest they focus on? What does Felix suggest they focus on? What idea wins and why? There were times I wanted to cry in this story, for the struggles with Jace and Peyton, for his struggles at home, with his family, and with school. I cheered when I heard about Peyton's letter to a TV show that they used to watch together. What happens at the show? What does he do that shocks, worries, and then helps them relax at the show, at the ending? What good things come Jace's way after almost 24 months of nothing but heartache and tragedy? Anything? You really need to read the first book to get a good feel for all the underlying currents in this book. Enjoy it!

I was kindly gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

In book one, from Payton's point of view, we first meet Jace. From when he first meets Payton. He saves her life on a few occasions and falls in love with her all the while going through his own personal hell. In this book, we get to know more about Jace all from his point of view. His nightmare of his life at home, he stands up to what he believes in and saves Payton's life yet again. The emotions are stronger, the chemistry between himself and Payton is like the fourth of July. As a reader, it felt like i was there, beside Jace, as he went through everything life threw at him. I was rooting, cheering and crying, for him and with him. You want him to have is happily ever after and just when you think he gets it, boom, another set back. It's a gut wrenching and heartbreaking read. It is well written and a couple of the routes this book takes is tastefully written and with the care and respect it deserves. Does Jace get his happy ending?? Read and find out :)

The Fighter A Foundation Novel By Kira Adams
Won this book in a giveaway and had entered because I hoped there would be great detail into the career of a fighter. Something for me to learn about that would be interesting.
Starts out with Peyton and Jace and they are in high school. They decide to compromise-she will go see his football game if he will go with her to ballet. Sounds like troubled times at home for Jace as his parents have split up.
His father takes up with a woman who's got a teenage daughter and they move in. More hard times for Jace and then he's free and clear of the mess. Problem is then his grandmother dies. Everything he is involved in turns against him....
He was known as the local hero for stopping the shooter at school and now everybody looks up to him and is a great supporter of his, in not matter what he takes on. Peyton, his girl is in awe of him makes things happen.....
Excerpt of My Forever is included at the end.

wow.... I cannot convey how much I want to give Jace the biggest hug ever :)
Thank you to Kira Adams for the copy of this book for an honest review!
I read the first book a while back, so before starting this I re read that, but I'm glad I did as I had fresh in my head the beginning parts of Jace and Peyton's relationship.
Life hasn't been plain sailing since they finally got together and they've faced more in their short lives than many of us ever will.
This part of their tale does not disappoint. In this book they face death, abuse, bullying, shootings, but still come out stronger than before. Thankfully they do have some bright spots! and I loved the introduction for Gia, and Samina, tho at some points I was asking myself "why??" !
I'm hoping that there is another part to their story.. please let there be another book with the acting and singing adventure!!!
Once again wonderfully written with the words just flowing from the pages, and another great read :)

This was a really great follow on to Pieces of Me, I must admit though there were definitely times I wanted to physically hurt Jace!
After all the issues Jace and Peyton faced in Pieces of Me I thought ‘hey what more could happen to these two?’ hmmmm yeah, a lot apparently. (No I’m not telling you what).
Jace has many a demon to face, number one being his father, number two being Gia. You have to keep reading to find out how things turn out and it keeps you guessing till the end. The ending is let open, and I hope that there is going to be another in the series or I may scream.
This is defiantly worth a read, it kept me interested from the off, but you have to read book one first r you will have no clue as to what’s going on at times. Kira is an exceptional writer who not only writes a great story but also includes some lovely lyrics, which is a treat in itself. I would definitely recommend her work having read all of her books and I am never disappointed.

I went into this series completely blind . I didn't read any reviews or the synopsis on both books . I just wanted to find out for myself and not be influenced by what others readers and bloggers wrote . Pieces Of Me ( Foundation#1) took my breath away and couldn't wait to jump head first into #2 .
This book has again floored me. I wasn't expecting it to be from Jace's POV, I don't know what I expected but I wasn't expecting it to be from his POV and to say I was amazed by the end is an understatement !
I knew there was a story to be told , you could just feel it in book 1 you know ? But to read it all from Jace's POV was just brilliant .
To read how rough his home life was and to keep as much as possible away from Peyton was exceptional . To find also that at the end they both get to do what the dream of doing and still have each other was worth all the fighting .
I would like to think there's a third book waiting in the wings somewhere Kira !!
Absolutely fantastic

4 stars!!!

“I used to dream of the perfect boyfriend. I used to wish on countless stars for him. And then you showed up and changed my life forever. You weren’t perfect—you were so much more than that. You were made for me.”

I was excited to get more of Jace and Peyton! I really liked them in book one, and I continued to like their relationship in this story as well. In Pieces of Me, Peyton had gone through a lot. This time around, Jace is the one that goes through so much. I liked that Kira Adams wrote about things that happen in real life, which had my heart racing just as it would if I was in that situation. There were also parts that made me want to throw my kindle because of the events that were taking place with the characters. I almost wanted to stop reading, but of course, I made myself push through. I think this was a good addition to the series, and I'm looking forward to reading book 3!

*i was given this book by the author for a honest review *

I liked this book but didn't love it. I feel the same way about both the books in the series actually. I think the reason that I was left feeling a little blah was because I wished there was more character development. I really
Ike to get emotionally invested in the characters and books that I read and I didn't feel like that with any of the characters in these books. One reason could be because I felt like the book wasn't very realistic. The story line was good and I was definitely engaged in the book while reading it. I was able to read it pretty fast because there was so much going on. The book ( both actually) were jam packed with drama. But each situation seemed to be resolved fairly quickly and the characters easily moved on. All in all it was a good book, it just left me wanting more.

This book is a continuation of Kira's Novel entitled "Pieces of Me" with Peyton Lane and her hero - Jace Austin. However, unlike the prior book, this is told in the town hero's viewpoint, and he further discusses what occurred on his behalf. Through episodes of shambles and betrayal from his identical brother and father, to meeting a new mother and daughter duo who contributed to the family's cycle of abuse; Jace went through many mishaps that he could not have entangled by himself without the help and everlasting love of his girlfriend Peyton. And through a talk show, his life was bound to change for the better. I highly recommend readers to take a look at this sequel in this Foundations set, so everyone can know what happened in its continuation.

I received a copy for review. I have read four of this Kira's books and I love them. She writes in a way that keeps your attention and wanting more and its so true to life. I read through each of them in no time. looking forward to anything she writes.

The love story between Peyton and Jace is so real and has you right in the story with them. Facing life changing situations that some people face everyday. The way things are handled by Jace, well just like everyday life... we all make mistakes and have to live with the decisions we make. There were a couple of his that made me disappointed in him, but again people do things or get in situations where had life not taken a turn when it did, we would have never dreamed of making some specific decisions we do.

I was graciously gifted a copy of this book for my review!

When I realized this book was from Jace's POV, I was worried it would just be book 1 all over again, with too much redundancy. Thankfully, I was wrong. The Fighter picked up where Pieces of Me left off, from Jace's POV.

I think I loved this book more. I always tend to like the male POV more. I just absolutely love Jace. He loves Peyton with all his heart, despite her flaws!

Poor Jace had to deal with so much trauma at his young age.....death, physical abuse, alcoholism, being the protector, etc. His strength impresses me. What he & Peyton faced together and overcame amazes me. True love prevails!

Great story, great characters. I hope to read more of them. Hint, hint, Kira! :)

There better be a third book!

Kira Adams... Book one sucked me in like I was nothing. Book two was exactly the same. This story picked up right where book one left off. Hearing Jace's voice and feeling everything he felt and I mean feeling EVERYTHING! Was heart-wrenching. This was like watching a LifeTime movie. There was so much that has happened in two years time. So much death. You can not read this and not feel something.

You definitely have to read book one first. I have not stalked Kira Adams yet so I don't know if there is a third book coming. I really REALLY hope there is. I really would like to see what the future holds for Jace and Payton. Whether they stay together or not, I really would like to see what happens.

Well, that was something else... I really like their story and getting Jace's point of view was awesome but this part of the story had a bit too much drama for my taste. I did love that there was always something going on so you will not get bored for a second. Their love story got even better on this book, stronger and it had some very romantic moments.
I still like Peyton and definitely love Jace.
***Bit of a SPOILER ahead***
There was a very scary moment in the story, one that just hit me as my teen daughter just went through a "lockout" for hours at her school just 2 days ago as there were 4 alleged shooters and cops everywhere at her school. Anyway, very scary and hard to read about.
We get a HEA and now I'm going to read the next book to see what will happen next in their lives.

I received this book for an honest review from the author. This is a book about determination and righting wrongs. This is the second book in a terriffic series by Kira Adams. Jace and Peyton are wondering if love is all they need to keep going. Unfortunately, Jace starts having a to Gia who her and her mother live with them. There are many ups and downs in this book, such as a school shooting, the death of Jace's father and trying to reunite with Peyton. This book is a page turner. This book started tying up loose ends from the first book. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Oh Jace... Let me start by saying that I loved getting to read more about Jace and Peyton.. I absolutely loved Pieces of Me and when I read The Fighter I was not disappointed. This story was heartbreaking. It made me cry, then happy, then I wanted to throw my kindle and knock some sense into Jace.. I hate Gia.. I could go on but I don't want to ruin the story for others. If you loved Peyton's story this is a definite must read! Each book I read by Kira keeps getting better and better.. She really does know how to make you fall in love with her characters and how to hate them.. Even mourn for them. Good job!! Great job!!

This is the continuation of Jace and Peyton's story. It's from Jace's POV, which made me happy that I could finally get in his head. There's some pretty heavy issues in this book; exactly what you'd expect from Kira Adams, but really heavy issues. Jace's father is an alcoholic and is abusive. His dad meets a woman with a beautiful daughter who makes Jace question what he has with Peyton. One violent act that can't be taken back. This is only one of the tales that Kira weaves in this tale. You get to see what Jace is made of, and it was nice to see that he is a strong person.

I'm very excited to see where Peyton and Jace go from here!

Another amazing book by Kira Adams! Let me start off by saying that WOW! Jace seems to be the total package! She really brought him to life in this book! The Fighter was excellent and I expected nothing but that excellence when I was sent the book! The trauma and struggles that Jace has to endure would be too much for any one person, but he pushes through it all with the help of his girlfriend, Peyton and his friends. this is the second book in this series its told from Jace pov. he suffers a great loss but not but one but two he lost his mother and his twin brother, it took jace a while to open back up and live life again but he worked through it and is now trying to help peyton. we see his strength and how it helps petyon this was a really sweet read about young love and I would give it 5 stars and would recommend this book
