I have to thank the author in giving me a chance to edit/proof her books! I enjoyed this story immensely and fell in love with all the characters in this story.

Especially Morgan - her character developed from a quiet shy girl....to a meek woman controlled by her husband...but then grew in her stature and took control of herself.

Loved it....except...well, I can't say that I didn't like how Morgan got her just vengeance...but I can say I didn't agree with everything.

I was still satisfied with how

Life Discarded tackles a very difficult to read subject matter and does it really well. We are thrown into a world of an abusive marriage and all the ripple effect that it has on those in the circle around it. This is a book that does not hold back on difficult scenes and situations, it's got a rawness that is necessary to make the book have the required impact.

The very start of the book is quite dramatic, it then quickly switches back in time, I was waiting for the end of the book to link direc

Oh My, oh My, I loved this book! I really did love this book! I stayed with my kindle everywhere I went. When my book buddy phoned me I was telling her she MUST get this book, so she has! I would recommend this book to everyone. Its a sorta thriller/suspense/romance. Its got everything in it!

I was on a book tour of this book and offered to give my honest unbiased take on it. I am so glad that I did. I pass a lot of books on tours, but the date was right with this one and I could fit it into my e

Today’s headlines have exploded with public debate over domestic violence, bringing LIFE DISCARDED under a sharp lens. What should a young and beautiful woman do as she slowly discovers her beloved husband is a monster?

Morgan’s friends and family watch anguished as Daniel slowly and deliberately cuts Morgan off from those who love her. Haggerty does a very good job of capturing Morgan’s inner debate as she doubts her abilities to be a ‘good’ wife. Newlywed Morgan becomes an ‘appeaser,’ never rec

Life Discarded is a book that discusses a taboo social problem (psychological abuse). The book is well written, thrilling to read and has an expected culmination. Even after finishing the book, I’m still pondering it. I highly recommend it!

Life Discarded is the tale of Morgan, a woman who believed that her fairy tale romance with her new husband would lead to a happily ever after. However, shortly after her wedding she learns the truth about her husband, but not before suffering constant emotional and physical turmoil.

Dena Haggerty’s Life Discarded dissects the deep seeded issues associated with emotional and mental abuse, and how it can unravel even the most innocent of people and cause them to do things they would never imagine.

I find myself torn by this book. On the one hand DE Haggerty is to be congratulated on her forensic portrayal of the abusive marriage. Daniel's attitude to his wife balances possessiveness and protectiveness perfectly so it is easy for his wife to be able to misinterpret the former as the latter. While the wife feels precious and looked-after (if a little rigorously)her friends see that she is being suffocated and controlled. She reads his outbursts of anger and jealousy as evidence only of her ...more

If you are looking for a riveting women's fiction with a suspense thriller twist, then Life Discarded is the book for you. Author D.E. Haggerty weaves a dark, intense, and drama filled tale that follows the disintegration of the complex and dysfunctional marriage of Morgan and Daniel.

Morgan thought that she had found her prince charming in Daniel, that they could have the perfect life together. But does one really ever know another person's true colors? Things are not as they appear, and behind

This is the third book I’ve read by D.E. Haggerty. Her writing style is very refreshing. It’s fast paced yet detailed enough that you can visualize the entire store unfolding. In Life Discarded, Haggerty tells a very convincing tale. The suspense of the novel was built-up perfectly. It was slow enough that the suspense was allowed to properly develop but fast enough to keep you reading. The characters in the story were very realistic. I didn’t like the main character, but the portrayal of her ch ...more

Taking this on for a review, I was intrigues but not sure if I would enjoy. Needless to say there are no regrets!! This book is a little suspenseful, enough to keep you interested from start to end. It has you asking yourself many times what Morgan is thinking...but you will have to find out why you would even ask yourself that question to start with!!

Life Discarded starts with a bang. A car is blown up. A woman is on the run. It is exciting stuff. The story then shifts back two years, and we relive the events that led to this crisis.

For the most part, I really enjoyed what followed. The wedding in the first chapter felt a little generic, but the characters quickly established themselves. Morgan’s struggles with David were described well. Her reactions to his cruelty were very believable. David was surprisingly rounded, despite his secrecy. I

I am an independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. I received this book from them and it's author D.E. Haggarty. I was drawn into this book from the beginning wondering what could drive the anonymous character to carry out her actions in the prologue. Chapter 1 takes you back three years to the wedding of Morgan and Daniel where you presume the prologue stems. All four of the main characters were easy to feel for and connect with on some level wether it was jealousy, unre ...more

LIFE DISCARDED literally started off with an explosion as Morgan discards her life-- then the book drops back to the beginning of Morgan and Daniel's relationship through their marriage.

This is a no-holds-barred look at the hard topic of marital abuse and shows how easily otherwise smart women can go from being strong and independent to being cowed and intimidated---and firmly believe the abuse is their own fault. It starts slowly and insidiously creeps up until, one day, everyone around can see

Abusive marriage is a subject that deserves attention, and Dena is to be congratulated for tackling it.
Morgan is well depicted and her blindfolded attitude typical of such a situation. The characters are all interesting.
The book starts and ends with a bang, and I liked this link, but I found the ending hard to swallow.
I thinks this book deserves editing, as the content lacks literary style and has irritating small repetitions and stilted dialogue. If this was done, it would be a better read.

Worth reading

I only gave it three stars because the writer needs to work on some things. Like dialogue. BUT the story line itself is pretty good. A little confusion with the characters about how they suddenly change their feelings. I hated the ending but how many movies do u watch to the end to be disappointed. Good read

I grew up reading everything I could get my grubby hands on from my mom's Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew to Little Women. When I wasn't flipping pages in a library book, I was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories which have thankfully been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along, robbing me of free time to write and read, althoug ...more
