This is a book about a little girl and a Clydesdale horse who both want to participate in a rodeo. Rosie is the horse and she’s a Clydesdale, considered a gentle giant and not appropriate for the rodeo. But she has a dream and a chance to live it. Things do not go as planned, but everything works out in the end. This book was lovely. The illustrations are great and overall, this was just a pleasant read that kids will love.
Super cute and heartwarming book! Both kids that do and don't adore horses will have so much fun reading this book. The story is really sweet and there is a clear plot to follow, making for an enjoyable reading experience. On top of that, the illustrations matched the cuteness level of the story itself and were colorful, adding some fun to the entire book. Additionally, nothing in the pictures looked out-of-place; every stroke of color and every detail was very intentional, which made me happy. Lastly, Rosie's story leaves readers with an inspiring message to follow your dreams in any way you can. Rosie might not have been able to win any rodeo events, but she was strong enough to catch a bull. Kids will take this message with them beyond the end of this book, and it will make kids find their inner strength while lifting their spirits with a great story. Bravo!
A story about a big horse with big dreams! I think boys and girls will love this story about a gentle Clydesdale named Rosie that dreams of being a rodeo star.
Rosie practices and prepares, but when the big day comes they don’t win a single event. A bull escapes and Rosie is the only one big enough and brave enough to help! Despite their rodeo performance, their bravery earns them cheers and they were stars of the rodeo after all!
“Rosie's Wild Ride” is an adventurous and exciting picture book that showcases having big dreams, lots of spirit, and the ability to spring back when things don’t go as planned.
I love that this story reveals the strength it takes to overcome failure, and the unexpected rewards of persevering. It’s essential for children to dream big, but just as important to realize things don’t always go as planned. Sometimes the hard times are what ultimately bring the biggest rewards.
I love that the book characters are based on real-life people and animals at the author’s farm, and I think children will be inspired by learning they aren’t just make-believe.
With vibrant and lively illustrations, it’s easy to enter Rosie (the Clydesdale) and Oakley’s (the cowgirl) world and enjoy the adventure along with them. The wonderful lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and confidence give the story special meaning, and the horse and rodeo facts in the back of the book are fun and educational. No wonder it’s a #1 Amazon bestseller!

Do you know a little girl who dreams of having her own horse? A little boy who wants to be a rodeo rider? Here's a delightful book that reminds them that all things are possible! Author Paige Murphy shares the story of a Clydesdale horse named Rosie and a little girl named Oakley who both have the same dream: they want to be rodeo stars! Rosie thinks she's too big and Oakley's mom won't let her ride just any horse. Oakley believes it can happen, and her determination and encouragement help convince Rosie that together, they can make it happen. Are there two rodeo stars waiting to be born?
Easy-to-read text, vibrant illustrations, and Rosie and Oakley's unique teamwork make this a charming choice for children. Rosie's Wild Ride targets children ages 4-8 but it's a perfect book for families to read together. What better chance to impress upon your children that achieving their dreams may not be easy but working hard and working with others will help them get there? This would also be a fun book for children's librarians to share in Story Hour or special programming!
I received a copy from FrontGate Blogger's Network. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my opinions.
An inspiring story about learning to work with what you've got and to overcome the impressions of others to do what you do best. Rosie is a great story about a horse who dreams big and her owner who also dreams big. The two come together to try their hand at all the things in a rodeo that inspires them. I liked that fact that, even though they prepared and were confident they would rule the day, that wasn't the case and their dreams and expectations came crashing down pretty hard. In the end, though, they figured out that they could use their talents in other ways to save the day and become rodeo stars. And that was the lesson that I found the most important. Despite setbacks, Rosie and Oakley persevered.
The artwork is nice and complements the story well. I was worried a bit at the start when it seemed to be rhyming inconsistently but the rhyme must have been a fluke because it was not the way the rest of the book was written. I like a good rhyme for a picture book, but not when it goes away.
All in all, a great book to read or to gift. Oh, and I almost forgot, I loved that the characters were based on Murray's own family and farm.
“Rosie’s Wild Ride: Chasing Big Dreams” is a heartwarming story about courage, confidence, and embracing what makes you different.
Rosie, a gentle Clydesdale, dreams of becoming a rodeo star — even though she doesn’t look or move like the sleek quarter horses in the arena. Meanwhile, young Oakley has dreams of her own. Together, they learn that their differences aren’t limitations — they’re strengths. The message is both encouraging and beautifully woven into the story without ever feeling heavy-handed.
The illustrations are vibrant and full of life, perfectly capturing both the excitement of the rodeo and the warmth of ranch life. The text placement and font are thoughtfully designed, making it an engaging and easy read-aloud experience for young children.
What makes this book especially meaningful is knowing it was inspired by a real-life Clydesdale and the author’s daughter. That authenticity shines through in the warmth of the storytelling. A lovely reminder for children that big dreams are worth chasing — especially when you believe in what makes you unique.

I loved the characters and how they worked together. My seven year old daughter loves Horses and we have adopted one for her so we guessed that this book would be a hit with her - and we weren't wrong!
The illustrations in the book were great and they brought the story to life - we really loved Rosie's Wild Ride!
I enjoyed that whilst they weren't really successful in the Rodeo, they found their niche at the end of the day and were there to save the day.
We did not hesitate in giving it 5 stars! Very highly recommended!
An absolutely wonderful story for the little cowgirl and cowboys in your world. Rosie is a Clydesdale horse. She and her friend Oakley love the rodeo and want to become rodeo stars. However, rodeo events aren’t really created for horses as big as Rosie. Then when a rogue bull threatens to ruin the day, Rosie and Maria come to the rescue. This was an adorable way to show little ones about courage, believing in themselves and friendship. The illustrations are so wonderful and bright. Your family will love this story. A wonderful way to encourage little ones who struggle to believe in themselves and to try new things. Enjoy the adventure with your family.
Based on real horse, Rosie was living her dream being in the big Rodeo. A sweet book with Oakley and Rosie competing together in the Rodeo. It didn't go like they wanted but when it really counted, they could be counted on to save the day. What real heroes look like. Loved the story and kiddos will love this one too.
A special thank you to Zonderkidz and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This story was a heartwarming tale of big dreams. When I saw that the story was about a horse I immediately knew that my daughter would love it and I was 100% correct. She loved reading about Rosie and her Clydesdale. She loved how bright and colorful the pictures were as well as the story of Rosie doing BIG things on her horse. My daughter walked away inspired and ready to take on her next horse show!
Rosie's Wild Ride: Chasing Big Rodeo Dreams by Paige Murray is a cute story inspired by her daughter about a Clydesdale named Rosie who wants to be a Rodeo Horse. Rosie's Wild Ride is a cute story that gives you a sweet escape that's uplifting. Rosie's Wild Ride would be a fun read for any age at anytime. HORSE THUNDER!!! This book is super cute. It has darling illustrations by Kristen Humphrey. This sweet story about believing that *just maybe you can* is by Paige Murray (who knows all about the rodeo life)! The characters of Rosie and Oakley will appeal to boys and girls who love rodeo, horses, teamwork...and those who just have big dreams!
A cute story about a BIG horse and big dreams. Rosie, a Clydesdale, and Oakley, her rider, both dream of being in the Rodeo, however neither is a great fit. Rosie is too big, and Oakley is too small, but they don’t let that stop them. This is a story about dreaming big and never giving up on those dreams, even when things don’t turn out the way you think.
The graphics, content, and length of this book about a horse who was bigger than the typical rodeo horses, and his young rider is just perfect. What's even better is that it shows that you can take on your dreams and while what you dreamed might not come true, you might find out exactly where you fit.
I absolutely LOVED this book! It was a great book overall and it showed kids to never give up, no matter the situation. This is definitely a book that all kids should read. The illustrations were great!
Since my granddaughter's name is Rosie, I had to read this book. It was the best children's picture book I've read in 2024. The illustrations were lovely, the story was engaging and the characters were endearing. I highly recommend this book full of determination and optimism for your home library!
I was a lucky winner of this book. I'll release it soon in my Little Free Library #7669. Oakley and Rosie have big dreams, and they're not afraid to chase them! In this lovely book, based on a real life girl and horse, they're participating in the rodeo!
The hardcover edition is Clydesdale sized. Great illustrations. This is a sweet story about a girl and her horse finding their way. Bonus photo and facts!
