I know I already watched the anime, but it feels as if I'm reliving the experience once more. The introduction to another one of the Seven Deadly Sins (I don't want to spoil it for you even though it's quite obvious.). I believe all or almost all of the scenes are the same in the anime. Nevertheless, it is an amazing book and I can't wait to read Vol. 4!

I get it, author, our heroes are strong and their magic is awesome. It's awesomer than any magic. It's so awesome that what ten mystical dragons couldn't bring down with all their might, two Sins can bring down in play.

Towards the end of the volume an actual challenge might pop up, but the series is thus far light on plot and heavy on overpowered fighting.

King is so cute in his child-like form. And Ban is so great. I love his relationship with Meliodas.

4/5

Week 3 / I was on holiday last week

Slightly undertoned compared to the first two, the story still goes forward and we apparently meet a new Deadly Sin but I found it even slower than V2.
Still loved how every time we discover and visit a new place, it makes the world building very rich!

I am enjoying this storyline and I'm having so much with it. The art keeps getting better the more I read on and that amazes me. I love the pages that are just art with no dialogue or the art with little dialogue. This keeps getting better and better.

As much as I'd like to enjoy this series, it often feels like its humour and its action overrules the plot although the story is slowly getting into much more interesting grounds.

Nonetheless, this volume introduces another member of the Seven Deadly Sins and their reunion is nothing short of intense!

My favorite sin had joined the team , Ban the fox sin of greed <>

It’s all started with a fight between ban and the captain , then it terns to be a game more like a challenge .

Loved this volume .

I really don't know how to feel about this series... it's alright but it's not particularly interesting.

I am only reading the first 5 volumes and then I'll probably just watch the anime. I'm definitely not invested enough in the manga to keep reading it past volume 5 (reading volumes 1-5 for a Book-of-the-Month pick)

And the series just gets better and better as our heroes’ cast list continues to grow! Elizabeth and Meliodas as characters continue to grow and develop as the new members join the quest and interact with them. It was so nice to see a bond start to form between Diane and Elizabeth, and it’s always interesting, and usually funny, to see Ban and Meliodas interact together. However, my favorite interactions actually come from Ban and Hawk, which are hysterical and absolutely adorable!

The action from the previous volume comes to an end within the beginning of volume three. However, the action doesn’t stay quiet for long. There is a short reprieve that has a lot of character development individually, the most for Ban, and as a group. Also, if you look hard enough, you’ll actually see some major story development happening at this time as well. The break doesn’t last for long, and soon our heroes are dancing with danger again. The action sequences are rather interesting, especially since our heroes abilities really start to take shape in this volume. Readers will definitely start to understand the Sins’ various strengths and weaknesses, and how they fight together. The fights in this volume I found to be really intense, but interesting and unique as well.

This volume also has some Holy Knight character designs with some info for those individuals. There’s also a bonus chapter that shows some character development, but it’s mostly just a cute little side story that didn’t fit the main flow of the story.

4/5 Stars (%72/100)

I liked it mainly because of Ban. Other than that, I can say it was okay. Ban is officially introduced as the Sin of Greed. The arm wrestle thing was hilarious by the way. After the Baste Dungeon, our "heroes" continue their journey in order to find King who is apparently dead. I actually liked King's first introduction and the interaction between him and Ban. We also learn more about Ban's past regarding a certain saint. The ending was okay too.

The third volume of the manga that was made into an anime of the same name. The first 2 volumes were very similar to the show. This volume finally had some differences that made a difference to reading though still minor. This volume picks up where the last one dropped off with Diane, Meliodas, Hawk, and Elizabeth heading to Baste Prison to release Ban. Roughly corresponding to the second half of episode 6 and continuing through into episode 7 and episode 8 (but not exactly see below for details).

Flavor text differences for the most part between the book and the show but some things I found of note: in the show they make it seem like there are no other p[prisoners in Baste Prison but the book shows that it has many prisoners besides Ban and Sennett. In the book, the Sins are stopped by more knights on the road to the Necropolis (Capitol of the Dead) and those knights are taken care of by Oslo. In the show, we don't meet Oslo until the very end of the first season. It makes much more sense that he would be around King from the beginning. Oh, and Melodias' short hilt (you know the one) appears to have magic abilities all its own in the book. I look forward to seeing what else is different.

There were some extra bits of just the characters living and doing things around the bar which was nice. Also, the book makes Ban seem much more of a jerk than he is in the show, this makes King's dislike/hatred of him when they meet again more believable than it does in the show. His reasoning in the show is sound, but if Ban acted like the Ban of the show I'm more willing to believe that King might ask questions before attacking. But if Ban was the Ban of the book... yeah... he's a jerk and doesn't get the same chances decent people are offered.

The biggest difference though is that Ban and Elain's story is not in the book. It is alluded to but the reader doesn't learn Ban's side of the encounter in Book 3. Perhaps it is in Book 4? This works well in letting the reader side with King in his fight with Ban.

Some notes on suitability for middle-grade reading again... in addition to my concerns stated in my review of Volume 2 this volume has 2 murders. Both Meliodas and Ban outright kill a knight each. I was going to add that when they destroyed the full Baste Prison surely they killed all the prisoners, but the book shows that miraculously prisoners escape unharmed (like the old 80s action tv shows - The A-Team comes to mind - a helicopter blows up with 4 people inside and the next scene shows 4 people next to the helicopter miraculously alive). So, so far the body count is 2 on-screen deaths (these deaths also happen in the show).

I liked this volume more than the others. We saw more of Ban and got some info on his past. Also King.
Less pervy stuff, but it managed to insert one in the bonus chapter :( whyyyy.

Jericho holy knight who was not match for Ban, but still wants to be a main villain. Nice try gurl.

Spoilery Stuff:

I like how Elizabeth and Diane are getting along better. I liked the moment in the beginning where she tells Elizabeth that she still matters because she can touch people's hearts.

King is a kid too? It seems that he's somehow with the holy knights against his will, but not in a prisoner sort of way.

Guila. Talk about dedication to the cause. Killing yourself to get to the deadly sins. That's too much. Either she has a way out, or is dumb.

We found out about Ban killing the spirit of the Fountain of Youth, Elaine. Who, get this, happened to be King's sister. I was wondering why he hated Ban so much after being in the same group as him.

Also now we know Ban's powers. Can't die. I knew he had a vamp aura about him. Probably why I like him.
But why is his torso so long. It makes me think of a centipede.
He doesn't seem to be a great guy. But he is the sin of greed so...whadya expect?

English:

I like to see the changes that took place between the manga and the anime. Other than that, I have a hard time appreciating this series / giving it a review, divided by volumes; although in its totality I know that both for its story and its fights I enjoy it a lot.

In this volume I can only highlight that it features, in my opinion, the best character of this story.
