I loved this book! It didn't take long to sink into the story. The characters were so well written that I felt like they were people I knew. The FBI agents banter and quick wit made you feel like these men were really partners. I loved the attention to detail in this book. Sometimes when you read a book things are put in there to get the story from point A to point B and you are left wondering "I wonder whatever happened to". I thought it was a great touch to know what happened to the grandmothe ...more

While the book was a definite page turner, I really wanted more from the main character in terms of her development. Even as the story progressed, I wanted more from her.

It was a really good heart-warming story but I think a lot could be said for the extreme lack of editing. There was a lot of grammatical errors/typos as well as a lot of information that was almost entirely irrelevant to the story. There was also a lack of fluidity and sense to a lot of the scenes, but with a bit of work and editing this could be a REALLY amazing book. For anyone who chooses to read this book, I strongly recommend looking beyond those errors and just enjoying the story being tol ...more

Amazing story!

I have been blown away by this book. I met Pete Conrad and bought this book to see if he was as good an author as seemed to be in person. The answer is yes. He wrote from a woman's point of view as if he really knows the turmoil inside of us as we love and live. As the story was nearly concluded, I was brought to tears when the main character was forced to face the grief she had been actively avoiding for many years. Yes, Pete. You hit the nail on the head with this book. Thank you

A fantastic, meaty, revised edition of this book has just been released to Kindle (Aug 2014).
The author took a great story and made it better; it is rich in detail and imagery, and the characters are complex and real. Jennifer's experiences when she returns to Maine are relatable, humorous at times, sad at others, emotional, and thoughtful.

READ THIS BOOK!

Intriguing

I enjoyed the characters in this book, and the way the love the story was written. You know that she will fall in love, but not until close to the end before I realized that it would be the right man.
