Most of them were pretty well done, but 'Undine' made no sense I had to find an online version of it to understand the story..

A very enjoyable collection of stories. Sadly I forgot it on a plane. These stories have a very different sensibility than the Grimm variety, feeling stoic and mature yet mystical. It included a very good story called "Undine" which I now wonder if it is the basis for the film "Ondine" which I now feel compelled to watch just to see.

This is a wonderful collection of short fairy-tale type stories. Whereas some collections like this have some sort of a feel of cohesion, this is lacking. Everything from the language, to the time periods, culture, and even the tropes in the stories are vastly differing. While for some this may turn them off to this book, however, for me, this is what made this collection worth reading.
