The Bible was wrong.
Jesus never fucking wept.
But he sure hated us.

In a horrific depiction of the second coming of Jesus Christ, humanity will bow before their Savior. But the Messiah isn’t doling out mercy or salvation. He deals in the business of death.

This is a work of extreme fiction and should be read with discretion by readers over the age of 18.

Well...this was unique now, wasn't it? Like Hellraiser met the Bible. Jesus reigned down a barrage of hatred, judgment, and physical dissection to every human that he came into contact with. However, beyond the gore and bloody segments, there were some fun plot points to follow. I never read the Bible, nor am I a religious person, but KL Allister didn't write this in a way that someone like myself would feel like I was missing certain elements. It all made sense and had a good flow. This was fun, quick, and a brand-spanking new take on Jesus Christ coming back to earth.

It's the second coming of Jesus, but it's not how the Bible says it is. Jesus is supposed to come and bring Gods followers to Heaven, and the sinners go to Hell. Well, Jesus has other plans. To him, everyone is a sinner, and everyone deserves to pay. Going against what his father has told him, Jesus is back on earth, releasing his wrath on humankind. No one is safe when Jesus is pissed.

This flirted on the line of good and evil, and I ate it up! I love religious stuff, and this was done well. KLs descriptions of Jesus were eerie and new. The deaths were fun and creative. I now need a PEZ despenser because I have a new love for them. We also meet two fallen angels, and that was delicious. Find out if Jesus succeeds and we all pay for our sins March 28th!

The second coming of Jesus Christ is here…and The Savior is pissed. If you like detailed descriptions of Hell, impossible deaths that could only be done by a god, and a message beneath the surface level that kind of makes you sad, then this book is for you!

It’s the second coming and Jesus is not happy! Giving out his own brand of punishment which is bloody and brutal, then he meets his family…
A great short read!

KL called for ARC readers for his latest release, and I jumped at the opportunity! I have thoroughly enjoyed everything he has written thus far, and this one was no different.

The second coming is finally here and JC is pissed! The gore, violence, writing was just *chef’s kiss*.

I understand that this book may not be for everyone, and that’s cool. BUT if you’re down for some extreme horror mixed with religious themes, grab it! Highly recommend!

“I come like a viscous fucking cloud, choking the fragile life from your pitiful lungs, only to shit on the remnants I wantonly leave in my wake.”

Yo, Jesus is back! And he is PISSED.

You know the moment K.L. says he has an ARC I’m going to immediately volunteer as tribute!

I gobbled this up! K.L.’s writing is smooth as soft butter on a piece of toast. I always get sucked in and buckled up. He knows how to use the right word combinations when it comes to making the disgusting scenes deplorable and delicious.

If you are looking for a brutal retelling of the second coming, this story is for you. If religious extreme horror sounds like a good time, this story is also for you. May the Lord forgive you!

This drops on March 28th! 🙏🏼⛪️🩸

As a person that is constantly deconstructing their religious trauma, this carnage infused story was exactly what I needed.

Jesus is back, pissed and has his own malevolent plans for his father's disappointment of a creation.

Allister packed this short story full of well written, over the top but absolutely justified, scenes of gore and violence played out by our lord and savior that is sure to send even the holiest of humans straight to hell.

So say your prayers and pick up Absolution by KL Allister today!

Jesus is a poser
The long awaited second coming doesn't go as expected because J.C. is sick of our sh*t and craves chaos, destruction with a side of absolution. But is J.C. really a baddie when it comes time to face the rulers of hell?

Just wish the plot was a little stronger, mostly just came off as some resentful 15 year old discovering the concept of atheism and hates the fact his step dad still makes him go to church. The actual death scenes are still creative though.

What if the Bible was wrong? What if Jesus wasn't who we've all been led to believe he was this whole time?

It's the second coming, and Jesus isn't f'ing around.

Once again, K.L. Allister fails to disappoint.

A Slam Dunk Take on Ultra Violent Jesus!

This fast paced book was a fantastic kick in the guts. I highly enjoyed reading it. Absolution is the tail of what would happen when Jesus returns to earth for the second coming only to discover that humans are filth and need to be eradicated. What ensues is mega violence and fantastic dialogue. This is a very quick read. In fact it is the only gripe that I have; it is too quick. I read it in one very short sitting and enjoyed the absolute hell (pun intended) out of it. I genuinely wish it was longer as even though the book starts immediately with over-the-top violence which hooks you then it is done. This is a solid piece of action based writing as Jesus won’t stop until his own personal hate filled version of the Lord‘s work is done. Allister’s style is wonderful and grabs you by the throat. His attention to detail when it comes to sickening violence satisfies on a primal level. All I hope now is that there is a sequel and it comes soon. This is only my opinion, and the only one that matters.

The good thing about bedrest, you get to catch up on ARCS. And whoo boy am I glad I got to this one. 70-ish pages long and one hell of a wallop. At this point, I'm pretty sure K.L. simply can't miss. In Absolution, Jesus is back, and he's hella mad. What ensues is a bloody mess only the twisted mind of K.L. Allister could come up with. I've heard rumors this will be a series and dammit I am HERE for it!

In Absolution, the Second Coming Delivers an Unexpected Rapture
Review: Absolution – K. L. Allister
My Verdict: A Splendor of Rage and Gore, Part Religious Subversion, Part Dark Comedy

I see ARC requests go out all the time, and I often want to participate, but when I see the deadline they need a review by, I think about my current to-dos and various TBRs, and I usually pass. I have a habit of overextending myself in these kinds of things.
But one day I saw Allister requesting ARC readers for his story Absolution. I saw the image of Jesus on the cover, radiating like a blood sun, saw that it was an extreme horror story, and said, “Well, I think I have to review that.” So, I signed up.
Immediately, I regretted putting the extra pressure on myself. Another obligation?! Why did I do that? I must be a glutton for punishment. Days went by. I never saw my ARC copy. Allister released Absolution. I figured that I wasn’t chosen as a reviewer or got lost in the shuffle.
Cue about a week ago. Two weeks? For a reason I don’t remember, I checked my spam folder, and lo and behold, there was my ARC copy of Absolution. Now, I was a traitor as well? I pictured Allister, stewing behind the mask, plotting my death for not living up to my end of the bargain.
Ok, enough stalling. This book is messed up. Like really messed up. The basic premise is that Jesus has come again. He’s a full-grown man, he is pissed, and apparently has been pressing iron because he has no problem dismembering people with his bare hands. Jesus is mad at God, mad at the human beings; hell, I don’t think there was anyone in this story he wasn’t mad at.
Absolution is a gonzo slasher on steroids where Jesus is the killer. The only begotten son of God goes on a psychopathic rampage through a city, Sin City, on Christmas, where there is no shortage of gore and darkly comic moments. More than once, I was tricked into thinking, “Oh hey, this must be our main character(s).” Only to have those characters totally eviscerated minutes later. This kept working on me, to my amusement. Allister would provide me just enough to start becoming invested in some new character, then pull the rug. Honestly, hilarious.
I also would really like to note Allister’s effortless poetic depictions of gore. The prose has the beautiful intensity of the macabre down pat. There were many times during my readthrough that I thought, “Golly, this gore really reads beautifully.”
All of that was fun and good, but Absolution really pulls it together in the final third. I don’t want to give away what happens. I wouldn’t really call it a twist so much as the inevitable, but I was still pleasantly surprised with the way things played out. Let’s just say a couple other heavy hitters show up to the party.
As I finished, I thought, “Well, that was a bit of blasphemous fun, wasn’t it?” But the more I think about it, I think the story has done something quite clever. It’s a near-perfect subversion of the story of Jesus we all know, and yet somehow faithful to the original tale, just twisted. I don’t want to overexplain it, but Allister did something pretty cool here.
If you like both extreme horror and religious horror and you wish those two genres had a baby that felt like a 70’s exploitation film, this is going to be your jam. Even if you really like Supernatural but you wish the show was way more hardcore, this is for you. Go check out Absolution.
