Summary:
This book give insight to the Earth and the Sky. It gives details about the Earth's core, volcanoes, weather patterns and more. It includes overlays for when the reader turns the page, they can visually see the images.
Evaluation: The book is nonfiction. It is easy for 2nd-5th graders to read. The book can easily be opened and read at any page and not be confused.
Lesson Plan: I would use this book to teach the solar system to students. The pictures are a perfect visual for them to see when they are reading the book.

PreK-2nd
This is an informational book about the Earth and sky. The book talks about the moon and other planets in space. This book also talks about the Earth, its formations, and its layers.
I really liked this book. It reminded me of the things I learned in Earth Science back in high school. The pages in this book are transparent, so it makes looking at the images fun and exciting for a young reader.
Students can create a class book about the Earth.
Students can act out the solar system.

This informational text covers objects in our solar system such as the sun and moon as well as covers information about our planet. The graphics are well illustrated and entertaining for students. This would be a good book for students in grades K-2.

I read The Earth and Sky by Gallimard Jeunesse and Jean-Pierre Verdet. I liked this book a lot! It explains a lot of different things such as volcanoes, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the solar system. The authors did a great job of simplifying a lot of the language used and making the subjects easily understandable for a younger audience. The illustrations were very helpful and I really liked the transparent pages. This would be an excellent book to read in a geography unit or to suggest to any students who are interested in science.

Informational book for 1st-2nd grade. great graphics. And fun clear pages!

The view of Earth from a spaceship. Blue and green with moist white clouds and teeny tiny continents. Three quarters is water and the core is red hot. Volcanoes erupt Earths red hot. there are living things everywhere. The moon revolves around the Earth and the Earth revolves around the Sun.

Another great simple read with awesome pictures. I would recommend this to a friend.

This book would be great on Earth day or if the class is ever learning about NASA. It would also be a great independent read for that student who wants to be an astronaut.

This book gives tidbits of information about the earth and sky, easy enough for an elementary school student to understand. Each page contains a different fact about the earth we live in and how that may affect us. For instance, the earth is made up of mainly nitrogen and oxygen gasses and we need oxygen in order to live. It also mentions the sun and its tilt - how the North and South Pole are cold because they are far away from the fun and how the equator is hot because it is closer to the sun. It also gives readers information on the moon and stars and other planets.

I am not usually a fan of non-fiction books so this is not necessarily one I would read again. However, it was very informative and actually taught me some things I did not know prior to reading. I was impressed at how the author gave deeper information in a way elementary school students could understand.

Obviously this book would be perfect for an elementary school science lesson. You could do an experiment with it as well.
