The Vikings by Howard La Fay (National Geographic Society 1972)(910.03395). This volume features the tribal and world history of the Vikings and the impact they have had on world civilization. My rating: 7/10, finished 1974.

Picked this one up at the library yesterday and read it a bit. Then I browsed all the pictures. I will likely read all the text as well - eventually! A National Geographic book. No doubt much archaeological info and theory has been added during these intervening 44 years since the book was published(1972) and 2016.
This is my "Vikings" part Deux read. This book has a lot more text so will take a bit longer than the first one. When I was in London in 1980 my sister and I went to the British Museum and they had a special Vikings exhibit going on - very interesting!

While some of the information is outdated, it reads like a documentary, which makes it way more easy to focus on than a dry textbook. Highly recommended as a starting point for basic, easily-accessible information on the Vikings.
