Very general intro for someone who has never heard of AI.
The book "Practical AI for Beginners" by Paco Barker attempts to provide an introduction for beginners to use AI in their daily lives. The book is not recommending any specific AI engine or interface technology . It's use cases rely on example like writing tools like Grammarly, using voice assistants like Siri or graphics generators. While these may be everyday tools, this book does not provide enough detail to use any of them well. The range of use cases is also somewhat generic - in trying to be more general I'm not sure this book solves anyone's problem.
This book is well written and easy to understand. It helps us to realize how AI is used and how we can learn to use it to our advantage. It teaches how helpful AI can be and how we can learn to use it to our advantage both in personal and business. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how AI works and how to utilize it.
Whether you're a beginner or someone without a technical background, the goal of the book is to equip you with the knowledge to understand and apply AI in ways that help you get what you want—whether that’s reducing stress, improving work performance, keeping up with the latest trends, or simply making everyday tasks easier.
Practical AI for Beginners: Unlock the Power of Artificial Intelligence with Simple Tools to Boost Productivity, Save Time, and Make Smarter Decisions in Everyday Life by Paco Barker This book starts out with what AI is and there are many examples they give as to what is using it: vacuums, machines, smartphones, goggle assistant, siri, alexa. There is a list of the last 3 and explains what they are good at, vs the others. Like the idea of setting up meal prep and shopping-using other apps that they also list for you and give you the benefits of using them. A clock to keep track of how long you are spending on certain work items per day. Fearful for the authors who write for a living. You can't get a copyright if no human input but only AI is used, but who can tell? they also note how it's used to spruce up photographs, I'm not sure I'd be able to see the differences of a fake. They list apps like grammerly and otters and explain how to log in and create an account and how to use it. Same with note taking there are many apps they suggest, depending on what you want to do with AI. Even for my blog I'd rather write my own words, not have it generated from me. They would use words I don't even know what they mean. ChatGPT also has a big section on how to use it and with examples of what it can do for you. At the end of each chapter there is a summary to give you a quick overview. References at included at the end.
