I liked this, but I feel like I've read it before. And the ending left a lot of things up-in-the-air so I didn't feel very satisfied when I was finished. Double the size and add some polish and this could have been a really great read.

Too short. There is definitely more to this story than what we are given. We were teased with some issues that were never resolved. And I would have liked to see this as a full novel that shows how Carlos and Burke deal with the pressure to hide their relationship, the fallout with Carlos' parents, etc. There should have been more.

I liked this story. I thought it was going to be an epic story. Then it ended. Oh, how I was disappointed by the end. I feel that it had great potential, it was flowing great. The story just ended so abruptly.

Will they come out their team? How will they all react? What will happen to their careers? How will Carlos’ family react? With the exception of his aunt, will they disown him? Will his brothers try to attack him?? And how about that text message Carlos received from some random friend at

I really loved the two strong, manly main characters: Carlos and Burke. Burke had parents who helped him when he first realized he was gay; Carlos had a family who reveled in his athletic fame but gave him grief for being gay. Both have to live in the closet as major league baseball pros and yet they secretly have it bad for one another. Vicktor Alexander keeps you on edge of every delicious moment of the story until Carlos confesses his love to Burke, while drunk after winning the World Series. ...more

This is a sweet story between two best friends that they didn't know they're in love with each other.
Thank you for sharing this with us, dear author. :)

A cute friends-to-lovers story within the realm of pro-baseball. Would love to have read about the MC's before they met though. It seems they had very different upbringings which makes for an interesting read.

The title very much reminds me of a line I heard from the movie Fever Pitch too.

I liked it. I was prepared to love it...and then all of a sudden the story was over when i wanted, nay needed so much more!
Nothing bad about this. It was fun but felt even shorter than the 54 pages.

Not bad for being free. The romance and the friendship both seemed to be setting up nicely, but then scheduling the rest of the day after the game got crazy and had me so confused I stopped even caring.

They've just won the world series, and in my head (tbh, I honestly know very, very little about baseball, so this really was just in my head--probably from movies...) the game happened at night. But then, as the team is trying to head to the locker room, they run into Carlos's parents, who insist

2.5 Stars - Did I miss something? Is this supposed to be part of a series? there were questions left unanswered at the end that made the whole thing feel unfinished and cut off (view spoiler). I liked the background ...more
A free short story from the Love's Landscape, Don't Read in the Closet 2014 event.

This was a nice little read - sweet and hot. Kind of meant to be friends-to-lovers, although considering they talked about being each others best friends, they didn't seem to know each other that well. The shower scene was pretty hot and I was enjoying the story, but then they went off to the after-party and it just kind of ended. Did I miss something? There was a text message which seemed to imply it was relevant

Really enjoyed this story even though sports aren't usually my thing. It ended when I wasn't ready though. Hope the author decides to expand on Burke and Carlo's story it ended just as they were coming together. I wanted to know what Carlo's mother had planned too and if these guys stay in the closet! Either way I thought it was a good story with good characters. This was my first read from this author so I definitely plan to read more of his stories.

Good friends to lovers story with lot of tension, I like to read in those stories. Also two athletes, who live as closeted gay men. It is great but all of sudden it ends. And a lot of questions stay unanswered. That is why I can't rate it higher. Otherwise great writing and I might change my rating when there'd be a sequel. :)

I liked it, it was short and sweet. I would have liked it to be longer and I would have liked a HEA
All in all: good characters, sweet story, right amount of sex, a bit insta-love but it worked
