No matter how far you run you can never escape your past.

We all make sacrifices. Some we make without thinking. And others that cut our hearts to pieces with every breath we take. For Travis Centrina, this is one of those sacrifices. Because when he was given back the one thing he thought he could never have again—the little brother he thought was dead—he didn’t realize hi

I started this one right after I finished the first book, it's nice when you find a new author and realize the whole series is released already and you can binge read the whole series in a row. The Storm Behind Your Eyes starts shortly after the end of the first book, this one focusses on Patrick getting used to now being a daemon and Travis is having a hard time knowing Nualla can never be his. There's a lot of foreshadowing and then at the end it all comes together and it's fast paced rushing ...more

As the second offering From Alicia Kat Vancil, she ratchets up the tension and drama from the first book. Slower beginning gives a more satisfying build to crescendo of action when everything really just goes nuts.

Additional speaking character of Travis is well done, and I found several poignant, emotionally impactful points in the book. Kat does very well making the characters live, breathe, and feel real.

Looking forward to book 3...

The title says it all. I was in tears finishing the book.

It's weird for me, after having read Fifty Shades of Gray and Twilight mostly just to satisfy some perverse curiosity, to read something in the same vein and enjoy it. The book is obviously targeted at a teenage audience, or anyone who remembers being a teenager. This second book really cements the timeless Rugrats/Rockos modern life quality where several groups see different intertwining threads of a story-line in the same piece of media. For the teenager it's the very present struggle of deali ...more

The Storm Behind Your Eyes continues the love story between Patrick and Nualla and their ongoing saga of trying to get married. If you read the first book of the series, you know Ms. Vancil is taking to heart the writer advice of torturing your characters. This young couple wants to get married so badly, it hurts. Every time they get close, Ms. Vancil does must think to herself "Can I stop this short of being RR Martin and killing everyone?" and, boy-howdie, does she ever succeed in making Patri ...more

This second novel of the trilogy moves past YA into NA. A deeply passionate love triangle ignites and the story is told from all three characters perspectives. Well researched technological advancements are presented. Whether these advancements are to be used for good or ill is the question to be answered. Individual characters dramas, traumas, and challenges interplay with the universal affecting all life be they human or alien.

Looking forward to the third novel of the trilogy!

Kat Vancil grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley where she amused herself by telling stories to anyone around her--her family, her friends...random strangers. Eventually she actually started writing those stories down instead of just spending hours hanging out in fake Ikea living rooms and telling her friends about them. Somewhere amongst all the character-torturing and epic explosions she manage ...more
