Perfection is a gimmick.

It’s something they use to sell you shit you don’t need. The perfect home. The perfect family. The perfect marriage. Photos of that perfect life are all around us, but none of it exists.

I know better because I take those photos. It’s all a ruse to make us think that's what we want. Behind closed doors, the house is a mess, the family is fighting, an

We all strive for it and everyone’s definition is different but what cannot be denied is that “Perfect” does nothing more than describe what is completely unattainable.

Nothing in this world is perfect but yet we are all guilty of setting the bar so high that getting even close is a major achievement.

But when Rachael caught her boyfriend with someone else, all illusions for her “perfect” life dissipated in that very instance. Her perfect relationship, life, job etc. all gone in the blink of an ey

Ok... I'm going to be completely honest when I say that I'm not sure how I should rate this book. I think 3.5 Stars is a fair rating. Which in my opinion, isn't bad. It's good! Like just good.. and that is how I feel about this book. It' didn't hit some of the major points that I look for in a book. It had a good story line and good characters, but it didn't give me any more than that. I didn't cry. I didn't have an "OM

It took me a couple of chapters to warm up but once I got into the story I really enjoyed it :)

Rachael is a photographer who is trapped working for her a**hole ex. She has been stuck at her desk for the last several months editing others photos instead of out travelling, doing what she loves - taking photos!! She thinks her luck has changed when a new client requests her to take photos for him; what she didn't expect is for Carl to be the client.

Carl is an alpha male who is still struggling with

This is the first book that I have read from BL Mooney and it definitely will not be the last. This book grabbed my attention in the first chapter and it just kept getting better and better. I loved all the characters. I am not sure about Carl being one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends because I felt at times it was hard to get a true read on him. Even at the end of the book I knew that I liked him but I was unsure how I came to that conclus

I absolutely loved this book. It didn't take long after I started it that I found myself captivated by the story and the characters.

Rachael wants nothing more than to be back on the road taking photos but instead she's stuck doing editing work for her replacement. She's has the opportunity to get back behind the camera and do a local job the only thing is the client she discovers is none other than Carl, the man who wanted to keep her a secret and hidden.

This was my first book from B.L. Mooney and it will not be my last.

Everyone wants perfection, but is that really possible? Rachael doesn't believe it's possible. She thinks it's what others want you to believe. Catching her boyfriend with another woman and then being blackmailed by him helped make that all too clear. She'd never fall for the illusion of love and happiness.

For some people like Carl you do have perfection. He had the perfect job, house, marriage and family, until his world came cr

I must admit, there were times I wanted to throw my kindle while reading this book. Rachel is very frustrating as a character, She is a photographer for a famous agency and gets hired to do family portrait. When the client comes in, she finds out it Carl, the guy who her family hates. They believe he had something to do with her sister and the whole thing that went down there. The more time she spends with him and his daughter, she finds herself falling

Striving for Perfection is book two in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Carl is a broken man, having lost his wife and everything he felt in life. this was my first B.L. Mooney book and i'm not sure why. this book was really well written and very good.

the main characters were not like every other character in every other book. while carl ends up being the hero i'm not sure i really liked him through most of the book. i loved how much he loves his daughter. i think deep down he was a really great, caring guy that did the right thing in the end but he didn't seem to know the best way to go about doing the right thing. by the end of the book

Rachael was a strong, smart, and beautiful woman. On top of that she was a successful photographer. Carl comes into the picture and Rachael isn't the same. Carl is smart and handsome but has a need for control. She doesn’t want to be controlled and yet they have undeniable attraction towards one another. I read this one first and after reading it I couldn't wait to go back to the first one to find out more details about what happened prior to this book. I love these characters. brilliant - my first encounter with this author but won't be my last. Striving for perfection by BL Mooney. Once I got into this book which was quite quickly I really enjoyed it. The complexity of the relationship between Rachel and Carl intrigued me. It was akin to a subtle dance. The sub plot between Rachel and Lance angered me. I didn't like the way he controlled and blackmailed her into remaining in his employment and not being allowed to practice her profession. It was an obsession which ne ...more

I love BL Mooney! Her books can be intense and full of emotion, but they are always worth every tear or angry moment =)

Rachel and Carl's story is kind of a constant battle, but they are just fighting the inevitable. This story was packed full of just as much if not more emotion than Striving for Normal (1st in the series). Once you get to the end though, you will realize it was worth every tear or moment of angst you may have had. I loved the little gesture/surprise at the end. Perfect ending

Rachael doesn't believe that perfection is possible, but Carl experienced and lost it. Meeting each other will make them take a long look at the perception of perfection and the reality of love.

Rachael is a photographer hired to take family portraits for Carl. She does so much more than that for him and his daughter. She brings laughter and lightness back into their world and reminds them how to live again. This is just the beginning for them as the journey together isn't an easy one.

Carl was a big part of book 1 and came off very badly it seems- everyone in Rachel’s family hates him, and Rachel herself had an experience with him that has made her very angry as we learn through flashback moments. We also find out she can hold a grudge and is a pretty bitchy person all the way around most of the time. Given her recent experiences, I can understand to a certain extent and she does eventually show some cracks in the ice queen armor, but overall I really struggled to li

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to ...more
