It took only one impusive moment on an empty two-lane highway to cost her everything.

A man's responsible for his own prosperity—especially if he's Cooper Burnett, the most determined cowboy in the West. No one knows what he sacrificed to claim a piece of Beartooth, Montana, for himself and his beautiful fiancée, Livie. No one knows what he's willing to do for love…until a

Kimberly Rocha~ Book Obsessed Chicks

This first book in the Montana Hamiltons series, by B.J. Daniels, WILD HORSES is the perfect segue from the beloved Beartooth Montana series.

Livie Hamilton ran off after an argument with her fiance Cooper Burnett. The hardworking man has a chip on his shoulder, the size of Beartooth, Montana, about allowing Livie's rich daddy from assisting them in any way, hence causing more than a few rifts between Cooper and the Hamiltons. This time when Livie runs off, however, she puts herself in danger and

This book really was amazing. Mostly suspense with some romance. After reading this, there are some loose ends that I'm anxious to find out about. So, looks like it's on to book two soon. Livie and Cooper don't have it easy getting to the altar, and someone is out to make sure they don't. The perfect beginning to this series, and it will have you coming back for more. ...more

I love B.J. Daniels. No other author brings Montana and cowboys to life like she does. For a Harlequin author, she is a master story teller. Her books always have a romance and a mystery. a perfect combination. In this book there are a lot of plots, sub-plots and past plots along with a mess of characters to go along with all that. Messy, messy, messy.

This book is the first of The Montana Hamiltons series. We have the six daughters of Buckmaster Hamilton, a very wealthy rancher turned politician

This was an exciting and complicated book. It starts when Livie, having had an argument with her fiance, Cooper, drives off in a huff into a worsening snowstorm. She ends up driving into a ditch, from which a stranger rescues her. Later we find out that she wakes up naked in bed with no idea how she got there or what happened. Three months later, she's receiving blackmail threats, things are still rocky between her and Cooper, and she's three months pregnant with no idea who the father is. To sa ...more

4 "Blackmailing Montana Royalty" Stars for the story and narration! Wow, this book is sure to keep you guessing with it's numerous suspense-filled sub-plots, one of which appears to arc over the entire series. Wild Horses is the first in a 6-book series which will feature the extremely wealthy Hamilton family of Beartooth, Montana, who made their money in ranching. The patriarch of the family, Buckmaster Hamilton, is a US Senator, who many have pegged with White House aspirations, and each book ...more

This non-romance romance was a pain to read. More so because it contained lines like this one,
"The baby stays. Dad will be tickled to have a grandchild no matter how he gets one." (says one of the hundred sisters the idiotic heroine has). Yes, right. It doesn't matter that her sister might have been raped and this baby may well be the result of rape (we don't care about the provenance, a woman's body is not hers, it belongs to reproduction and to reactionary politicians and their followers)

This was a disjointed story with too many plots lines, and poorly written. I disliked the characters, perhaps too much of the past traditional roles and expectations. The female part, Livie Hamilton, was weak, whiny, and unlikeable, as was her love interest, Cooper Barnett, who was autocratic, moody and accusing for most of the book. They were poor communicators and thus there was much misunderstanding. Neither of the characters was accountable for their feelings and actions for too much of the ...more

Ok for mystery lovers, and it kept my interest, but I had some complaints.

This is labeled Harlequin Romance, but I would not call it a romance. I’d call it mystery suspense. There is no relationship development. The story starts with the main couple Livie and Cooper already engaged. They have problems and tension throughout the story. They have a happy ending, but nothing was fun about changing their relationship.

There is no sexual content other than Livie wondering if she had been raped.

B.J. Daniels has done it again! Just when I think her books couldn’t get any better, she obliterates all my expectations! WILD HORSES is a highly suspenseful roller coaster ride full of intrigue, manipulation, jealousy, greed, blackmail, murder and a twist so crazy, you will be begging her for the second book! The characters are dynamic and the plot is outstanding! B.J. is a master of capturing your attention and not letting to until you’ve experienced every emotion known to man. A true storytel ...more

Wow! I seriously feel like I have been living in a hole, by not having read a B.J. Daniels book before. This book seriously shocked me with all the mystery and romance, but I also loved the country setting and freaking fantastic writing. I read that this series has some characters connected from another one of her series so I’m excited to discover more of Daniels’ book now that I’ve bee

I love stories about the Wild West and Montana’s one of the last ranching frontiers. This turned out to be more about the personal drama on the ranch and less about the whole ranching experience. It was a readable novel, but I won’t read the rest of the series.

This is me swooning over a book.. I just put this book down and resent that I finished it. It was just that good! B.J. Daniels writes the best cowboy suspense.. she might be the only one who writes it but even if there were a thousand other writers who attempted this sub genre, B.J. Daniels will still be the best!

Edge of your seat romance! Twisted plots and devious desires. As a reader you are never quite sure of just who is the g

Livie Hamilton and Cooper Burnett loved each other and were ready to marry when one night's events changed everything. Secrets, blackmail, danger and a killer on the loose will test Livie and Cooper's love for each other. Is this the end or will they get their Happily-ever-after?

B.J Daniels' books are always on my list of favourites. I love her writing style and the novelty she brings to each of her stories. Through her, I feel like I know Montana even tho

Rated 4.5 - If you love Montana contemporary ranching stories with a killer suspense, put this novel on your TBR Mountain Range for sooner rather than later. It's a fast read because you won't be able to stop to eat or breathe.

Olivia "Livie" Hamilton is engaged to Cooper Barnett, but during one irrational, emotional night, their lives will be changed forever. At their engagement party, Cooper sees his fiancée sitting alone, so he naturally wants to know what's wrong. When Livie explains what

Daniels writes romantic suspense like no other. She keeps readers on her toes with this fantastic novel, while at the same time portraying all of the trials and tribulations of a real life romance. The plot was complex and very rewarding. Each and every aspect of the tale was tied to another, leading readers on an intricate journey that they won’t ever forget. Her picturesque Montana settings draw you in to ranch life, allowing you to experience this world to its fullest.

This book was so emotional and family problems original that I couldn't step away from it until I got to the last page. The Hamilton family is a well known family in Beartooth, Montana and the whole state as The patriarch is the senator from Montana. His six girls have always been a joy and a trial for him but when his first daughter decides to marry his horse trainer there is a lot of friction and doubt from all the girls. Livvie is totally in love with Cooper but one night in January where she ...more

Having read other books in associated series by fellow Montanan B.J. Daniels, I eagerly approached Wild Horses. The suspense was true to form and I raced through the last chapters to get to the end. I was happy to see one of the long-going questions (Was the sheriff’s daughter really his?) throughout the series resolved. If you’ve been reading the series, you’ll enjoy this book.

If you’re new to the series, I suggest you start with one of the earlier books. Some of the earlier problems were broug

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is a new series about the Hamilton sisters. The first book is about Livvy and Cooper. I won't go into the story since I don't want to ruin it but it has romance, suspense, and everything else in between. We do get their complete story, so no cliffhangers with them. We're brought back to Beartooth so we do get some follow up unfinished business from the previous books. FYI They are still on going? The book also has several story lines going ...more

As usual BJ starts out with intrigue and suspense. I love the new Hamilton characters and glad she kept Sheriff Frank and Nettie Curry and Kate and that Frank finally found out about Tiffany.

The mix of old and new characters is awesome. Just when I thought I had figured out the "villain", the plot changes to make me think it's someone else. This is the beginning of what I think will be on of BJ's best series. I can't wait to find out more about Sarah Hamilton.

Really, all these five star reviews! We must have read a different book. There is absolutely no effing romance in this supposed romantic suspense. There are no intimate scenes, nothing, nada, ziltch, zero. Some reviewers even went so far as to commit blasphemy and compare B. J. Daniels to Sandra Brown!!!! Sandra knows how to write suspense and knows how to write romance, and knows how to do hot and knows how to do cold. B. J. Daniels knows nothing of the sort. This is my first and last book by h ...more

I always enjoy B.J.'s books and this one is no exception. The story is mixed with just the right amount of suspense, romance and emotional turmoil. I loved all the characters and the story flows easily, it keeps you intrigued enough to keep turning the pages. I look forward to more from this series.

I was given a copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This couple had zero chemistry. Why were they in love? He was an ass. I always hoped she would dump him and some hunky hero would enter her life to save the day. Nice little twist at the end.

This is a 6 book series. And I read them out of sequence. So now I'm sort of reading them like I should have in the beginning. I'm reading #4 right now but have already read #5. But anyway it's really good, lots of twists and turns. Buck's first wife drives her car into the Yellowstone river but doesn't drown, disappears for 22 years (she had just given birth to twin girls-actually she had all girls -6 of them before she drove into the river), but now she's back and tells everyone she has amnesi ...more

An enjoyable contemporary western with twists and turns galore. I think what I enjoyed was that the hero and heroine were already engaged and in love but a possible mistake tears them apart. But with danger lurking around every corner will Conner and Livie be able to find a happy ending? Even though this was the first in the Montana Hamiltons series I felt there was a bit of leftover storyline from previous books by B.J. Daniels which I unfortunately had not read so there was some confusion. Out ...more

“Honey, before I became the man who was to marry Olivia Hamilton, I was capable of taking care of myself. I can take care of you, too, for that matter. If you should ever decide to trust me." With that he turned the key. The old pickup's engine rumbled to life and he backed out kicking up fresh gravel.

Livie bristled. She knew he thought her an overindulged debutante, but there was more to her than just being Buckmaster Hamilton's daughter and damned if she wasn't going to prove it to him. If he gave her the chance.”

“He stopped for a moment. The dark woods had taken on an eerie quality. The dense trees didn't allow him to see but only a few yards ahead of him. Maybe it was the approaching storm. Or maybe it was all his years of being a lawman, but he had a spooked feeling even before he heard the soft rustling sound ahead in the trees.
He'd often listened to other lawmen talk about the things that had spooked them. Being spooked was different from being scared. Scared was healthy since lawmen were often putting themselves into the path of danger with people who were violent.
"I think evil stays in places where something horrible has happened," he recalled a deputy sheriff saying one time. "I've felt it. It takes on a life of its own. That's why when you return to a place where something horrendous has happened, you get goose bumps. I've felt it and it spooked the hell out of me.
Reaching for his weapon, he moved toward the sound as the first drops of rain began to fall. He hadn't gone far when he caught a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye. He spun to his right, his heart drumming and weapon drawn...”
