Street Crimes
H.L. Le Roy

Justice has many different meanings and each story has its own message within this collection of four very different stories each with its own hidden meaning. In each story the main character seeks his/her own brand of finding answers to questions, solving problems and hopefully coming out ahead at the end. Story One is quite unique and is titled Mistake Proof. The main character is in debt and owes money to his bookie. He explains to readers in the first person his predi

This collection of short stories begins with 'Mistake Proof,' a witty, easy-to-read story about a bank robbery gone wrong, and it's repercussions for done-over Dellicott. The humorous twist at the end of it reveals that the asylum, his hideout of choice, was perhaps, after all, the best place for him.

Street Crimes: Tales of Mystery by H. L. Le Roy, E-book - released April 11, 2012.

Street Crimes is made up of four short stories: "Mistake Proof," "Rare Justice," "Hollywood Hitman," and "The Game's End."

When I started reading Street Crimes, Mickey Spillane came to mind, then, Donald Trump. Like Spillane, Le Roy writes in sound bite clips making the story line memorable. Hey, you always remember Donald Trump don't you? Well, he is the "King" of speaking in sound bite clips.

"Mistake Proof" is a s

These are four excellently written, well-paced, suspenseful and entertaining stories! I thought all of them had a noir feel to them (as defined by film noir - emphasis on "cynical attitudes and sexual motivations"), even though the last three take place in contemporary times. "Mistake Proof" took an unexpected turn as the main character decided to hide in an asylum and that may or may not have been the best idea. "Rare Justice" was a touching tale and a nice introduction to Jillian Varela, a tou ...more

Street Crimes is a collection of 4 short stories. Each tale is told in the first person, which provides good insight into the motivations of the main characters. These stories are fast-paced and well-written. Each one has its own set of twists and turns that are sometimes humorous and sometimes horrifying. I enjoyed meeting the tough female PI, Jillian Varela, who is the main character in two of the stories. I highly recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful tale that will kee ...more
