Gemma Carter loses everything in just one night. Just when she feels like the black cloud over her life will never depart, her older brother suggests a job working for his friend William Campbell. She has to forget everything she has done and do everything she knows. Will is the most beautiful and demanding boss to work for. He has looks, money, security, and a dirty secret. Going to work has never been so good and so complicated.
I didn't like it. Wasn't well written, it didn't follow logical timelines/thoughts, including within single paragraphs. It needed to be edited for grammar, since there were random punctuation marks in sentences and incorrect tense of words used.
This book starts out with a bang when Gemma gets the biggest surprise of all. Her boyfriend and roommate are having it out on the floor. I tried to put myself in her shoes and I didn't know what I would've done. Maybe bust something over his head. I had many of those moments on what I would do in her place and I can see myself not agreeing with everything she does.
William Carter has many moods. Gemma realizes that when she starts working for him. He can be sweet and loving at times. He never makes a point about anything and you just want to wring his neck. I would say that he needs a lot of therapy. I did start to like him until what happens at the end. I can't tell you what he does to finally open Gemma's eyes.
I really loved this book and I couldn't just sit down and read it like I wanted to. There were so many things going on in the book that I didn't want to miss a thing. I know that I will re-reads this book several more times. This book was easy to read and it really caught me when I started reading it. I was never bored and it was a book that really had some really hot moments in it. So I leave you with this suggestion: Read this book ASAP!
Where to start. This story has potential. It could have been good or even great if there was some editing done - in regards to missing or incorrect words and also the structure of the story. I honestly felt like I was reading a diary entry or something a college student wrote on a dare. With some mediocre sex slapped in at key moments.
Will is a jerk. He's hot and cold and has a secret, a terrible secret. I wanted jaw-dropping news, instead, I got ehhh news. It wasn't Earth shattering. I couldn't deal with the way he acted and his excuses for everything bad he did. It was always someone else's fault. Own your mistakes.
I don't even remember her name, geez. But she was childish too. He'd push her away, she'd up the game. They deserve each other. Two high school kids.
I won't be reading book #2. This is a cliff hanger, no HEA.
I met this author at a book signing recently and couldn't wait to check out her work. I wasn't at all disappointed. Love it and now I'm on to get the next book so I can find out what happens!
Gemma Carter has lost her boyfriend, her job, and her place to live. Leaving work early one night, she catches her roommate and boyfriend going at it in the living room. Unfortunately it’s her roommate’s apartment so Gemma has to leave.
Gemma moves in with her brother. He hooks her up with an interview with one of his friends, William Campbell.
William Campbell is like night and day, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He is moody and full of secrets. Unfortunately he is also hot as hell. And the sparks fly between Gemma and her new boss.
This story really frustrated me. Gemma has no back bone what so ever. She didn’t have sex with her ex in the 2 years they were together but jumps into bed with her boss in no time flat.
William is a total douche. I cannot figure out what his game is. He is just cruel to Gemma.
As much as this story frustrated me, I cannot wait to read book 2. The author totally left me wanting more. So even through the low points of this story, I still recommend this book to be read.
This book really didn't do it for me. It seemed cut and pasted together with no thought to the flow of the story, and the writing style seemed rather juvenile in places. I'm not sure what the trend is with wishy washy women who drink themselves stupid every time they have an issue they need to think through. I made it through this book, barely.
At the risk of sounding rude, this book was also in serious need of a good editor or proofreader, and many contractions.
Gemma 's brother Nate gets her an interview with is old College fried Will and she becomes his assistant but she is warned by many people to be wary because of his reputation as a player and his secrets. I enjoy the book although for me the writing style didn't flow,, seemed to be rushed. Still looking forward to the sequel.
I really wanted to like his book but I am sad to say that Will is a womanizing man whore and Gemma is allowing Will to use her and take advantage of her innocence. It was frustrating and most the time unbelievable. Gemma was just too weak for my tastes in lead characters.
Absolutely fantastic book. So pleased to have read it. Only reason didn't get 5 stars was it was too short and would have preferred for characters to get together later I book otherwise brilliant and have to read next ones!
What a addicting, thrill ride..I read this in one sitting...really the back and forth roller coasters ride between Will and Gemma is hot and frustrating and sometimes messy...but I don't know about you, but I love these type of book...great suspenseful read;)
