The anticipated conclusion to Jenna and Rex's story is now here.

Bittersweet Love is the second book in the series, it is recommended that you read book one in the series first, before reading this that way you can get a better understanding of the story.

Betrayal. That’s what Jenna Haines felt when she discovered that her relationship with Rex Winchester was anything but real.

With a broken heart, and a deep sadness running through her veins she picked up the pieces and forced herself to move on. After all, what better place to start fresh than at University of California, Berkeley?

That is until the day she finds out Rex got accepted to Berkeley too, and that he will be following her off to college. To add salt to the wounds, it seems as if he will do anything to win her back. With Rex, on the prowl and her heart being the prey can she resist his advances towards her?

Even more so can she move on from the vengeful things he once did and fall into a deep bittersweet love? Or will the hate, lies, and secrets break them beyond repair? Is love really capable of healing all wounds or is everything still just a lie?

BITTERSWEETLOVE

College was the beginning of a fresh start for Jenna as she moves to California with her best friend, Mimi and starts anew. Leaving behind the rumors and bullying she endured. What better way to start all over with a clean slate, but for Jenna she knew this was one hard task. The one thing standing in her was her broken heart and the memory of Rex. Well for Jen escaping and forgetting Rex was something she couldn’t avoid especially since he wanted to make amends for the way he treated her. In Bittersweet Love, J.L. Beck shows the character growth of Jenna and Rex as they learn to forgive, trust and love again. Trust is earned and so Rex goes out of his way to earn back Jenna’s respect, trust and love. In this short and quick read, prepare yourself for young lovers learning to trust again while others try to destroy their relationship.

When Jenna finds out that her relationship with Rex is anything but real she is heartbroken. Jenna wants to start her life fresh. What better place then the University of California, Berkeley?

That is until she finds out that Rex, Corey and Ryder are all going to school there too. All she wanted was to get away and try to breathe again. When Rex admits his mistake and tells her he loves her. Can Jenna forgive him and try to trust him?

Im really liking this novella series. I love reading the progression of the story right along with JL Beck's writing progression. The characters are amazing.

Everything about this novella series screams best seller. I can’t wait to read what happens next. I really like the romance and hard times that Rex and Jenna have.

I even enjoy the banter back and forth between Corey and Mimi. All the characters in this series plays an important part in the relationships between Rex and Jenna, Corey and Mimi. I like it when authors make all the characters just as important as the main characters.

I highly recommend this series.

Jenna starts college off to a great start lol NOT!

Ryder, love him!

But seriously...
I'm so glad Jenna and Rex got their HEA
Me, I'd still be single, have no best friend, and put a certain crazy guy in the Looney bin, but that's me lol

Looking forward to Bittersweet Hate tho. Even tho Corey is an asshole, you got to see in BA why he is the way he is.

**** I Love Story Time was gifted an ARC of Bittersweet Love in exchange for an honest review ****

"Friends don't kiss Rex.

"They don't, but then again I never agreed to be friends.

Aww…one of my favorite lines also made it in book 2!

I was looking forward to reading this book and finding out how the storyline will continue after reading Bittersweet Revenge. You get most of the history from book 1, and it leaves you with wanting to know what happens between Jenna and Rex. I also found myself wanting to find out what's really going on between Mimi and Corey. Well, Bittersweet Love picks up with all characters starting College. The last time that Jenna has seen Rex was 9 months ago. Although, her love for him has not changed she still is trying to get over the pain he has caused her.

There's no one better to help her get past Rex, then her best friend Mimi. I missed Mimi! Through B.L, Mimi is also going through her own drama with the same old Corey. Only in this story he actually starts to come around and tries not be such an a$$hole. Mimi can't decide what she wants with Corey and feels bad that she is falling for someone who hurt Jenna so much. So she tries to move on and starts to talk to other guys. Only, she can't seem to stop talking crap about the girl Corey is talking to and the real Mimi comes out to tell Jenna exactly how she fills about her......

" The sluts of sluts. Like if I threw my shoe at her, a vortex called her vagina would suck it in. I swear that's the only way to get man. I just sucks them in, and then they're like, what? Where am I? How did I get here?"

HaHaHa! I still love Mimi's mouth!! Never a dual moment with her around. While she is struggling to move on or figure out her true feelings for Corey, she is also hoping that Jenna and Rex can find their way back to each other.

When Jenna first see's Rex, all her feelings come rushing back. She is constantly telling herself to fight against the attraction she has towards him, but it’s so strong and she struggles to let him back in. She knows that she has to get past their past and leave it behind them. So, that's exactly what she tells herself to do. Jenna knows that she wants him in her life, but the only way for that to happen…is to start out as friends once again. When Jenna finally lets Rex back into her life, he is so relieved.....

"I promise you Jenna this time will be different. I will do anything to make this up to you."

As for Rex, Well all I can say is…he is still H.O.T!!! He does everything possible to get what he once shared with Jenna back. He doesn't care who gets in the way, he will knock anyone down that tries to get between them, literally!! I could not believe the fight he gets into for Jenna. Not once did he question her when he had the right to. He is so in love with her that he knows she can never do anything to hurt him. He loves her so much, and I love the way he shows it. Rex tells Jenna he will fight for her and he means it with all his heart.....

"I know we can't be together right now, I know you're hurting, and I plan to make that right. But you're mine, you will forever be mine. I will fight for you till the day I die and I know you feel the same way."

I love when the men in books have that possession in them! It's so hot!

There is another character with some hotness as well…Ryder. All I want to know about Ryder is what's really going on? I'm torn when it comes to his character because I don't know if I like him or if he really is an a$$! At times I feel like he generally is a good guy, but then with some events that take place, I think “what in the hell is he doing?” There are so many unanswered questions about what he is going through. Is he just trying to get revenge? Are his feelings true? Is he just jealous? I just don't know, and I'm really hoping we find out more about what is going on with Ryder in the next book!

As for the ending?? Um.... can we say... Seriously? What is going on now?? It definitely left us readers wanting more!! Looking forward to reading more about Rex and Jenna's relationship. Also, what's really going on with Corey and Mimi and finding out what's behind Ryder's thoughts!!!

As noted, this is the second book in J.L. Beck’s Bittersweet series. This books picks up where book one (Bittersweet Revenge) left off so it is a good idea to read Bittersweet Revenge first. The author does do a little backstory in certain parts but it is not a complete retelling of the first book to get everyone up to speed. It is more of a refresher from Bittersweet Revenge for those that have read it. These parts are written so that it flows with the story very well.

We pick up with Jenna and Mimi as roommates in college and know from the end of book one that Rex and Corey are going to the same college but Jenna is doing her best to stay clear of them. She is determined to make a new start where no one knows her or her made up reputation from high school.

In an effort to get Jenna socializing, Mimi makes her go to a party at a club. Jenna doesn’t want to go but being a good friend to Mimi she goes as her wing woman.

When they get to the club, Mimi immediately goes off and splits from Jenna. As Jenna is having a drink by herself, a familiar face slides into the booth next to her. Rex? No, Ryder! Jenna decides the best way to handle this unexpected guest is more alcohol. Especially when she finds out that in addition to Rex and Corey going to the same school, Ryder is as well.

Jenna continues not to fully trust Ryder and the reader wonders even more in this book about his motives. Bittersweet Love continues to follow the conflicts between Jenna and Rex and Ryder; As well as the one between Corey and Mimi.

As the story goes on, the reader aches for Jenna and Rex to give their relationship another chance. When they do, there are others that try to destroy it again.

Corey also matures a bit and now that we (and Jenna) know the motives behind the vicious attacks in High School, we can understand (although still not agree) on his reasoning for acting that way. In this book, we start to see a new side of Corey, possibly the start of what Jenna saw when they first started dating. We also gain more insight into Corey and Mimi’s growing conflict.

This is a great book! We already knew the characters from the first book so we get to dive deeper into their conflict and feelings and try to figure out motives. Ryder is not s huge character in this book but leaves a huge mystery surrounding him. I love how the author wrote his character. He plays a smaller role but leaves us needing to know more!

I found myself angry, anxious, happy, relived, curious and a ton of other emotions. This is a short book but PACKED with story!

I can’t wait for the third book in this series – I need to know what this cliffhanger is about! This ending had the same type of ending as the first book. I thought everything was getting wrapped up until I got to the last sentence and my first thought was – when does the next book come out?!?

Another short continuation story of Jenna learning to forgive Rex and finding love again.

In this book, we follow the journey of Jenna’s life after high school. After Jenna finally finds her voice, she no longer takes S*** from anyone. She no longer lets anyone treat her bad, she stands up for herself. She promised herself she will never be the girl she was in high school and never let anyone mistreat her ever again.

Going to college, especially with her best friend Mimi is great. They not only live in their own apartment, but they enjoy the fresh start they have. Soon they find out that not only do Rex, Cory and Ryder go to the same school as them, they also live in the same apartment complex. At first it made it a little harder, but the benefit of them living so close to the boys gave Rex and Jenna the chance they needed to get to know each other again.

It didn’t take Jenna and Rex long to get back into their flow of things. After Jenna really forgave Rex, they gave their love another try. They go through ups and downs in their relationship, because of Jenna’s trust issues. Since Rex will do anything to really have a chance to love Jenna again, he never gave up.

At the same time Cory and Mimi go through their love and hate relationship. They may be a lot alike, but they are like two bombs ready to blow up at any minute. Jenna tries to help Cory and Mimi figure out what they really are and even after what Cory did to Jenna in the past, she was more than willing to help the two find happiness.

While Jenna and Rex are living their blissful love, Mimi and Cory are lost in their never ending cat and mouse game. Will Mimi and Cory ever figure out what they really want? Will they let their guard down and give love a try? Read and find out.

 photo BittersweetLove-Teaser.jpg

I enjoyed Rex and Jenna’s relationship, they were nothing but sweet with each other. Rex treated Jenna like his queen and protected her with everything and anyone he can, even from his own brother. No wonder what kind of a jacka** his brother Ryder was, I couldn’t hate him. It just made me wonder more and more, why he is the way he is and why he gets a rise out of making his brother upset. I hope I get to find out more about Ryder, maybe his own book?

I just finished Bittersweet Love and I really liked it. It is apart of the Bittersweet series, Bittersweet Revenge is the first followed by this one. You have to read in order to get the full experience plus you'll need to know what is going on to read the next one! Rex and Jenna have had a rocky start to their relationship. They were in high school and lies caused them to be apart. Now they are in college and close proximities will cause them to question everything and to also confront those lies. You will just have to read and see if they are able I let by gones be by gones.

I really enjoyed the story. I thought that it was a good continuance to the story and it just made me want more just like I knew it would. There is still a lot of drama but we able to see that they have grown up and are trying to see things differently. Everything was good about this story. The plot, the main characters, hell even the secondary characters. They didn't run the show but it added a plus and I cannot wait to see what happens.

Rex has a lot to make up for. Did he redeem himself? You will have to be the judge of that. Jenna for me has gotten so much stronger from the first story. It's amazing to see her transformation. They both has a couple have a lot to handle and I just so wanted them to take that chance but can understand the hesitancy of it all

This was just an all around good book. Hook, Line and Sinker is what I am and waiting rather impatiently for the next one. Luckily we don't have to wait to long!!

This story begins with Jenna, Mimi, Corey, Rex & Ryder beginning college. It was refreshing to see the growth in everyone, mainly Jenna and Corey. Out of everyone, to me they showed the most growth.

Jenna has become this outspoken, says whatever is on her mind, backs down to no one, DARE I SAY….WOMAN! I thought I loved her in BR but it must have been just admiration because I fell in love with her in this book! Through this story she is having a constant internal battle but she still continues to grow.

The banter between Jenna and Mimi is at an all time high, seriously every time they have a conversation I am either laughing, smiling or on the verge of tears. The road to redemption for Jenna and Rex was beautiful to watch, I am so happy they got what they both wanted in the end: H A P P I N E S S.

Even though this story was about Jenna and Rex, you get so much of Mimi and Corey too. Even written solely in Jenna’s POV you could clearly hear and feel all the emotions of the secondary characters.

RYDER, I YEARN to know more, to know who you really are!

Corey, Corey, Corey! Oh how I love to hate you, you freaking twatwaffle! I tried, I really tried to hate him going into this story but the moment I caught those brief (and I do mean BRIEF) glimpses of the person he was hiding inside, my heart warmed.

I love J L Beck’s writing style and each book seems to get better and better, I can see her developing as a writer and I am happy to witness not only her characters growth but hers as well!

This was a great follow up to Bittersweet Revenge. I loved Jenna and Rex. Mimi irritated me a little, but that's what best friends do!!

Jenna has been trying to move on after being devastated by Rex. She has been through a lot the last couple years. But she doesn't want to welcome anyone new into her life, but Mimi thinks since they are away at college now that she needs to open up and let people in. Get over Rex or forgive him. Since he goes to the same school it would be easy to forgive him. Can she become friends with him again?

Rex is willing to do anything to prove to Jenna how sorry he is. He knows he messed up, but he can't take it back. He wants to make up for it though, but can he get Jenna to forgive him? Will he prove that he is worthy of Jenna's heart?

This is a great conclusion to Jenna and Rex. Though I'm sure we will continue to see them in Mimi and Corey's book and Ryder's book also!!! Mimi and Corey have a lot of issues so it will be interesting to see how J.L. makes me fall for Corey!!

Spoiler Alerts in this so if you haven't read the book don't read this review.

Ok I love love love this author! Her first book was awesome and the second was even better. Now I have a bunch of questions about Ryder and Corey and Mimi that need to be answered. The book is a total cliff hanger and I can't wait for the next one. I want to know why Ryder kissed Jenna and what the heck his problem was. Was it because he has feelings for her or does he have other issues. I also want to know what on earth Corey did to end up in jail. So many questions that will hopefully be answered in the books to come. I would definitely recommend this book to others as a must read. Great job J.L. Beck keep up the good work!

After all hell breaking loose in book 1 Jenna was left heart broken and used.

Now she's off to college with BFF Mimi and taking on a new attitude where she will never be put in that situation again. As far as she cares Rex, Ryder and Corey can all go to hell.

Things don't always go to plan and Rex will NOT be letting the girl he is madly in love with get away from him again.

JL Beck has upped the antics in book 2 and you are brought into the characters life as if your their witnessing what is happening. Corey and Mimi give as good as they get. Ryder is still the twin who thinks nothing can touch him.

However will Jenna and Rex find there HEA or will circumstances get in the way?

I am I'm awe of this series and I am antic ally waiting for book 3 :-)

Jenna Haines is ready for a fresh start and college is just tat, after a tumultuous highschool life with rumors swirling rampantly about her unsavory character she needs a new beginning. Jenna just hopes to avoid Rex Winchester, the boy who broke her heart but Rex is intent on winning Jenna back. Can Jenna trust Rex again?

The follow up to Bittersweet Revenge. Jenna is moving on and her self worth has rocketed by leaps and bounds. I thought Jenna had found her own center, she sticks up for herself and puts Rex in his place. Had a few unexpected twists and looks like a new book in the series is on the way, can't wait.

I was kindly gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book picks up where book 1 left off. It is again a short read but it still managed to make me feel the emotions of the characters. I found it's not as emotional as book 1 but still had me in tears at points. Again, laugh out loud moments cue more funny looks from my children. I'm thrilled the 2 leads got their happily ever after and I would definitely love to read more about them in future as I feel their story is still not finished. looking forward to reading more :)

Another great novella by J.L.Beck. Can't believe.it finished the way it did...I'm still trying to pick my jaw off the ground! I love Rex and Jenna. Jenna is one of the sensitive kind of girls, but she has a brand new attitude from bittersweet revenge. Mimi is a little over the top though haha...but what would a story be without the OTT best friend right?
brilliant story, am really looking forward to Corey and Mimi's story! <3

J.l Beck reminds you what it was to be nineteen all over again. I don't usually read new adult, but Jenna's story is amazing. I love Becks characters, their voices, the drama of being that in between age of not completely an adult nor child. I love where she is taking this story even if they do kill me with cliff hangers. Haha. Can't wait to read Corey and Mimi's story

So nothing was technically resolved from the first book, no mention of HUGE plot points from the first book, and no resolving of issues in this one. Definitely not my cup of tea. Also Mimi is the worst friend, not ever, but she has to be up there.

Overall it was better than the first one but I got the feeling sometimes in the book that Mimi's story was overpowering jenna's story...
I mean she has her own books it was not needed honestly and also I just can't understand the deal with Ryder??
WTF is wrong with him?? And why did the writer wanted to explain their life in the books too much when she should've focused on the main characters... It was just too instant....

There was too much unnecessary suspense if you ask me .

I give this book 3.5 stars

Love is the second book in J. L. Beck’s Bittersweet series. The book is advertised as Jenna and Rex’s story but there is quite a bit of Mimi and Corey’s story in this book. Love picks up shortly after Revenge ends. The five main characters (Jenna, Mimi, Rex, Corey and Ryder) are off to college TOGETHER.

Jenna is more mature in Love. She is stronger and she knows how to stand up for herself. The new Jenna is a positive character development. Jenna is still reeling from the way Rex treated her—who can blame her. She can’t forget Rex’s betrayal and lies. On the flip side, Rex wants Jenna to give him another chance. He does everything he can to get her to talk to him and he really wants her to accept his apology but Jenna pushes back. I love that Rex won’t be deterred even though Jenna makes it clear to him, in no uncertain terms, she won’t ever let him get back into her heart. Rex understands and finally asks to just be friends. He wants any kind of relationship she can give and will settle for platonic if he can’t have more.

"Remember what happened last time we tried being just friends Rex. I cared about you in a way that I never cared for anyone. You knew my pains, my flaws. You knew everything, and when I let you in and took that step forward, you left me standing there. The betrayal of what you have done to me makes me second guess every choice I make. At the end of the day all I ever wanted was you and it may have been true that you wanted me, but not enough to tell me the truth. You told me you would protect me, and you didn't. In reality you should’ve been protecting me from yourself because, ultimately nothing else broke me as much as losing you."

Jenna still has feelings for Rex but she is afraid proving that once burned it is hard to regain the love and trust lost. She is also carrying with her the deep hurt from the way Corey treated her. The way he encouraged the entire student body to spurn Jenna the final year in high school almost broke her.

Love continues the YA story with a lot of angst and “I want you” “No I don’t want you” feelings on Jenna’s part. Sometimes it got on my nerves a little. I thing that is because Rex won me over long before he won Jenna.

Mimi’s character took a downturn for me. I was a little aggravated in Revenge that she hooked up with Corey. I mean really she is supposed to be Jenna’s best friend but then I thought about small town life and young people do pass boyfriends/girlfriends around a little but now Mimi is irritating. I needed to see Mimi talk to Corey about his irrational behavior. There is still a lot of negativity here and we don’t really see Mimi address this with Corey. Nor did she give Jenna an explanation about what was going on with Corey and why she didn’t talk to Jenna about it. I get that Jenna forgives her but the reader needs an explanation in my opinion. I expect more from a best friend.

What Mimi does do however, is harass Jenna about Rex. REALLY for me it was a little too much. I get that she sees Mimi’s heart and a little heart to heart discussion is appropriate but heck enough already.

Mimi and Corey’s relationship is heating up. I like the internal conflict that Jenna feels about Mimi and Corey. I completely understand her caution. Mimi is a mystery. We are getting little glimpses into her psyche but there is more to come out. Her backstory can be interesting and I hope Ms. Beck will explore that more.

Corey often seems to be two people in one. I’m having a hard time understanding this character. He seems to have a heart but it is hidden. He seems to want a steady relationship but he is still a player. We see glimpses of the bully from the previous book and we see the compassionate person he can be when he opens his heart to love. To some degree I understand Corey’s past anger but I don’t understand why he thought hurting Jenna was going to make him feel better.

Ryder is still a mystery. I can’t figure him out. He has secrets that I want to know. He seems to love his brother but he’s so angry. I wonder why Rex, his twin doesn’t seem to have the same darkness that Ryder does. Did they live in the same house? There is more to explore with this character.

This is a good continuation of Ms. Beck’s debut series. I like the story a lot. It has a lot of potential. There is still a need to improve the dialog and tighten the flow a little more. There are times when the dialog or a scene is redundant. Once when I was reading I thought I lost my place but when I looked back I realized it was almost the same conversation in a previous chapter.

I wish there was more to the book (longer) it ends too quickly with too many open questions and/or unresolved issues. It still feels like the book/series is targeting a younger (late teens/early twenties) audience but this author has a lot of potential.

Love continues the YA story with a lot of angst and “I want you” “No I don’t want you” feelings on Jenna’s part. Sometimes it got on my nerves a little. I thing that's because Rex won me over long before he won Jenna.

Mimi’s character took a downturn for me. I was aggravated with what Mimi did.

I wonder why Rex, his twin doesn’t seem to have the same darkness that
Ryder does.

It still feels like the book/series is targeting a younger (late teens/early twenties)audience but this author has a lot of potential.

Do not read. Author is fucking stupid. She should not be able to get money for this or even write. The main girl is a stupid bitch who gets back with her ex who hurt her. She also is friends with a bitch who betrayed her and got with the guy who hurt her.Who needs enemies with friends like that.

Fuck you author, for your trash that you call writing

"I want to try...I want to...I don't know if we'll ever be what we used to be, and even though I'm not really okay with that, because every part of me is pulling me to you...I would rather have that than not have any part of you. So what I'm saying is if we can't be us again, then maybe we can be friends." ~ Rex Winchester

The first thing I'm going to tell you about the novella Bittersweet Love by J.L. Beck is to read Bittersweet Revenge before you go any further. A. it's a really good story and B. you need to so you know what exactly is going on in Bittersweet Love.

Next I'm going to tell you...OMG Rex Winchester is complete perfection in the book boyfriend department. He has perfect looks, perfect body and even though it's a little messed up, his love for Jenna Hanes is perfect. There are just not enough amazing things I can say about him because he melted my heart just that much. Even when he wasn't being perfect, he really was.

But, let's get back to the story. Jenna and her very best friend the gorgeous and sassy Mimi Jones have left their pasts behind and are trying to make a fresh start at university in California. That would be awesome if the cause of their troubles (well mostly Jenna's) didn't follow them. Corey Winchester and his cousins Rex and Ryder (yes he has a twin, just as hot, but kind of arrogant) wind up at the same college, living in the same apartment complex as the girls. Back home these boys caused a heap of trouble for Jenna. Made her senior year in high school awful and made Mimi do some pretty hilarious revenge type things.

Mimi is the best friend every girl should have. She's feisty and she's always got Jenna's back. Well except for that one time (but you have to read Bittersweet Revenge to find out about that).

Back to Rex and Jenna. They were an item in high school for a bit. Then there was this whole big blow out that caused Jenna and Rex to break up and certain friendships to be questioned. Did I mention Jenna and Corey were together for a hot minute as well?

Now the girls are just trying to start over in Cali. Except a certain Rex Winchester is trying desperately to win Jenna back and his twin, hot, but full of himself Ryder is definitely sending Jenna some mixed signals. Throw into the mix a weepy Mimi confessing to Jenna she's got some feelings for the evil Corey and you've got a lot going on.

Something I particularly liked about this story. Jenna who was this tormented kind of mousy, doormat, learns to stand up for herself. Even though Mimi would be perfectly happy to do it for her, Jenna learns to stand on her own two feet.

Rex, really wants his girl back and some of the things he said to her, turned my insides to liquid. He loves her, he knows how badly he messed up and he's doing everything he can to win her love.

I know I've said it already, but Rex is uber swoon worthy. One of those book boyfriends you're thinking about for days after you've finished the book. The story is definitely a good one. There's some angst, there's definitely some humor and there's this love that this boy has for this girl. Does she love him back? Do they get their happily ever after? Duh, I'm not telling. I want you to read it.

I'm giving Bittersweet Love a four lip smack review. I'll also tell you there's another Bittersweet book on the horizon and I can't wait to read that one!

Overall Rating: 3.75 Rockin’ ★★★☆

High school was a disaster for Jenna Haines. She was betrayed by her ex-boyfriend, who spread vicious rumors about her and broke up with her in front of the entire school. When his cousin approaches her wanting to be her friend she finds herself drawn to him and accepting him at face value. Everything warned her not to be so trusting, but she listened to her heart and he betrayed her. The only friend she had left was her best friend Mimi and they decided to attend college in California at Southern Cali. That would take her far away from all the drama she had endured during high school. Time and distance will hopefully heal the broken pieces of her heart and allow her to move on with her life.

Rex Winchester had known from the first moment that he saw Jenna that she was the one for him. He had never intended to hurt her and when she moved away he was heartbroken. The only choice for him was to follow her to California and attend school where she had decided to. He knows it will not be easy to convince her that he is really sorry and will do anything to regain her trust and love. Rex also knows that his twin brother and cousin will probably get in his way trying to get back on Jenna’s good side.

Can Rex prove to Jenna that they belong together? Will she forgive him and give him another chance? Or will friends and relatives keep them apart? Read this book and get some surprising answers!

Bittersweet Love is book 2 in the Bittersweet Series. It picks up with Jenna and Mimi in college.
Jenna is learning how to let go of the past, it’s not easily done since the ones that caused her so much heartache is lurking around the same college she attends. Many months have past and she still isn’t quite over Rex, even though she wants to be. When Mimi decides it’s time for some good college fun she makes Jenna tag along. Just so happens they’re not the only ones who decided to go to that club that night.
Rex knows he messed up and wants Jenna to to give him another chance. Jenna is still skeptical about trusting Rex even though he makes her happier than she has been in a while. Even though she is in a good place at the moment with Rex doesn’t mean the drama is completely gone. Ryder seems to have alterior motives for being around Jenna, what those motives are, I’m still not quite sure yet and neither is Jenna.
Corey and Mimi has some major drama happening with this read but with this book ending the way it did I know there is more to come. Corey is trying not to be the biggest asshole on the planet, he is struggling but has made somewhat of an improvement. Mimi is like that friend everyone has, you know the loud, wild one that you can’t help but love. They both act as if they want each other and hate each other at the same time. I can’t believe I’m going to say this because as much as I dislike Corey for tormenting Jenna in highschool, I hope him and Mimi work their issues out.
The epilogue has me very interested on what’s going to take place next. Even though Ryder kind of acts like a douche, I think he is sexy, there is something going on and I want to know so freaking bad what his deal is. Rex still has me swooning with all his sweetness. I don’t hate Corey so much after this book, but doesn’t mean I like him either. I have so many questions I want answered. I’m looking forward to devouring Bittersweet Hate.

Yet again J.L. Beck has made me laugh and cry as I anxiously rooted for my favorite characters!

As in Bittersweet Revenge, the characters and storyline drew me in to this book and wouldn't let me go despite the many spelling and grammatical errors I noticed. As a side note, the only complaint I have about this novella is that the author needs a better proofreader. The mistakes are distracting, but the storyline was more important.

I felt like I was continuing life with the characters as I again shared in their sadness, anxiety, happiness, confusion, love, and hopefulness. The main character, Jenna, and her best friend, Mimi, start out this novella by moving to California to attend college. I was hoping for a new beginning for both of them, but I knew that wouldn't be entirely possible because the men who tried to crush Jenna's spirit and broke her heart in high school are attending the same college. Knowing this, I wondered what direction their lives would take. I honestly didn't care what happened to Corey, Jenna's ex boyfriend, because I think he is a deplorable person, but I did care about his cousin, Rex, because I believe he honestly loves Jenna and regrets hurting her.

A focus of this book is Jenna finding herself. She discovers she has more strength, courage, compassion, and determination than she ever could have imagined. Along this journey, she finds it in her to make peace with some aspects of her past and allow herself to trust in love again.

I enjoyed reading this book and seeing how the characters have changed, or not changed, since beginning high school in the previous book. I was glad to see some of them matured! I enjoyed learning what happens with Jenna and Rex and I look forward to reading Mimi and Corey's story next.

Bittersweet Love is a quick read, but it is packed full of action and emotion. J.L. Beck fits a lot of content into such a short novella so I feel as though I have read a full length book!

Bittersweet Love
By: J.L. Beck
✩★✩★✩4-Love Stars✩★✩★✩

This story continues from where we left off in Bittersweet Revenge. When the secrets came out about the plot Corey had Rex involved in, all hell broke loose. Love was lost and Rex will not stop at nothing to get the love he lost.

 photo BittersweetLove_zps773c7e15.jpg

Jenna tried to move forward, but she is struggling since she could not stop thinking about Rex. Somehow it made it difficult for Jenna to avoid Rex since her best friend is the one pushing for them to get back together. What an emotional roller coaster. Jenna and Rex fought and denied that they still wanted each other and that they could handle just being friends again. BUT it was all Jenna's idea to be friends, Rex never agreed to be just that, he still wanted more.

This book is about forgiveness and moving forward without looking back. To be able to love again without any hesitations, no matter how bad and complicated things surrounding you. I loved that Jenna was very humble and was able to move forward with Corey issues, who wrecked her during high school. I'm not sure how I would've handled this situation, maybe forgive him, but to never talk to Corey ever again? Well, for Jenna I absolutely loved this part of the series because she was able to stand up for herself. As for Rex, he proved his love for her and fought for their love to have the relationship they once had. Will they be able to move past all the issues from their past and be able to give their relationship a second chance? You'll have to read the series to find out. I can't wait to get to know Mimi and Corey. Loved it, J.L. Beck. I'll be coming back for more.
