Hmm...post-apocalyptic zombies with romance you say? Unlikely but true. And good fun at that. I liked the older woman angle , worried about her fat ass etc. and really enjoyed all the preparation to fend off the zombies. It’s amazing what you can do when you have unlimited funds and were at the Zero event where the zombie virus starts, so you have a heads up over everyone else. The characters compare notes about what they know about zombies from the Walking Dead, World war Z and 28 days later.

I have never once had an interest in zombie anything, but I recently finished catching up with Tracy Ellen’s Anabel Axelrod series and I was having major withdrawals. I missed having witty dialogue and kooky characters to laugh at. I needed a strong heroine full of sass to root for and a hunky man to swoon over. Unable to wait until the next book in Anabel’s world, I started Acadia’s Law, and let me tell you, as long as Tracy Ellen’s glorious writing is involved, I am a zombie fanatic.

She is amazing! Again with strong, sexy, smart women. Suspense and of course romance with a new twist. I promise you won't be able to put it down. I am only happy to say yes, this IS a new series!

I’ve seen a number of genre mashups in the past several years. Space cowboys vs. gangsters, aliens vs. cowboys, vampires vs. Abe Lincoln, you get the idea. Some of these are great stories that bring new life to a tired genre. But if an author smashes two genres together without a good reason, they are as appetizing as a peanut butter and salami sandwich.

Acadia’s Law is a zombie apocalypse vs. Romance mashup, and I admit, I was skeptical. I’ve seen some good romantic subplots in The Walking Dead

I received this book for my honest review.

I must admit at first this book to me was a little out there in nature and being the first book that I had read by this author I went into it with an open mind and a hard heart. As the pages were read I began feeling for the characters of this book.

Arcadia is a strong woman that has fears that she knows she must overcome in order to survive her husband’s death. Her friends give her the strength that she needs to go on with her life. She is a strong soul

Acadia King has been mourning her husband for 2years. Her friends talk her into going out to a cocktail lounge to pick up a man. She meets Rod. Sparks fly. Then Acadia, Rod and his friends are caught in a fight for their lives when weird acting people start killing the patrons of the cocktail lounge and hotel. Thank goodness she never leaves home without her gun. They make it back to her farm and prepare for the apocalypse. Romance with a dark twist.
The book is 200 pages long. I like to know th

Recommends it for: All
I could not put this book down! I will have to admit, at first I was a little turned off because of the cover. It just looks like a young adult book that belongs on the shelves of a 13 year old girl.

I recommend this book to anyone! Wonderfully written :)

When Acadia agrees to go out on a date (well she says date but really she is just going to see if anyone takes her fancy) after her friends convince her its time to get back out there after the death of her husband she goes along with it thinking ‘well what’s the worst that could happen?’ If by worst you are thinking crazed people attacking everyone and those seemingly dead coming back to life as zombies you would be correct. She does get to work her inner minx before the real crazy stuff happen ...more

Awesome Read!

Romance and zombie apocalypse together, what more can a girl ask for? Nothing! I loves how the author combined romance with a zombie apocalypse. We get to see the relationship between Acadia and Rod develop right along the beginning of the end. The author got the right mix of romance to go along with the zombie apocalypse beginning. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. I wanted to seehow Acadia and Rod's relationship developed as she prepared her farm, friends and fami

This is how it begins...

Zombie/Romance - Two genres I would never have guessed would meld together so well.

Loved having a heroine that was a bit older! Acadia was real and a hoot to boot.

The preparations have been made, foundations laid - now the action begins.

The epitome of a great zombie apocalypse novel (yes, I’m deciding this is a genre now). It is hard for me to pinpoint anything that I disliked about this book!

This book is told from the perspective of a strong, female lead by the name of Acadia. She sees what is happening; has in fact been preparing for it – in a way. She never expected that the emergency situation she was preparing for would be a zombie apocalypse! She witnesses the beginning of it first hand, and in peculiar circumstances. Aca

Those that follow my reviews know that I am a HUGE fan of Tracy Ellen's. It's not a secret. I have had no qualms in the past in signing her praises... This is yet another one of those times! This book took me by surprise and through a journey I hadn't expected.

So we start with the characters. As always, Tracy's characters are spunky and quick-witted. I always wonder what kind of people surround Tracy for her to create such colorful characters. They all have a special bond and relationship that w

“Tonight I had sex in an elevator with a stranger. I also saw people turn into animals and tear other people apart. I saw them eat body parts and drink blood. I saw them wound as many people as possible. I shot a man in the head, he died. I shot a man in the back; he looked t me like I was a nuisance. I then shot him in the head too. I saw dead people start to twitch and clench...”

When I started reading this book, I wasn't sure it was for me because I'm not into the "Zombie Apocalypse" genre. My mind was quickly changed as this book centers a lot on the characters and is not what I imagine typical books in the genre to be, e.g. tons of gore and killing.
Tracy Ellen has created many characters who make you want to hang out with them. Acadia is a woman of many levels, she is strong yet vulnerable. There are goofball football players, a ditzy but sweet young woman, and a cast

Acadia finally lets her friends convince her to let them dress her up for going out. Being that she is a widow, she is not a big fan of going out. But hen she meets a guy and decides to have a one time hook up, everything goes horrible. She meets super hot football player Rod and an infection spread through the city. What is she going to do? Will she let this guy in and survive.
The story is pretty good. A zombie like infection runs through. The guy she meets is the opposite of her. I had a hard

If you are a fan of Tracy Ellen's series with Anabel Axelrod, you will simply love the first of this series. In Acadia's Law, Acadia King is a strong and take charge woman. As in the Anabel series, there is good, strong friend relationships and that always appreciated sexy man to keep us interested. If you are concerned about the zombie genre, dont' be. She doesn't make it gory as in the TV series. The electricity and humor between Acadia and that handsome football player, Rod, keeps you enterta ...more

This book was a real departure for me. In fact I did not realize the actual content of the book until well into it. It is not my usual genre. Having said that, this book not only held my interest, I loved it. A very different take on an old subject! So I HAD to read it...lol...I forced myself to continue when I realized what it was really about and I have to say that I not only finished it I loved it a ...more

Good story line. Details were in depth. I liked how Acadia really liked Rod but was fighting her attraction. Rod was patient with her. At first, Acadia sees him as the typical jock who only wants one thing but finds out important information later. This book has a couple of good twists and turns. A few of these characters are stereotypical at the beginning but show a different side to the ones they care about. There is a deeper side to several characters (both good & bad). There is so much more to this book than just a pandemic and Zombies. I absolutely fell in love with the mix of characters, the humor, and the suspense. At first I was a little annoyed by Acadia not knowing Rod but then I realized that if I were to run into a "well-known" athlete from a sport I don't follow I'd be in the same boat. Love that Acadia is a strong woman, the unrelenting pursuit of Acadia by Rod, and the interplay of T-Bone and Ray Dean (couple of big kids). I highly recommend reading ...more

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of this book. It took me a couple of chapters to get completely into it and I'm so glad I didn't give up. It was completely worth the wait. Once I "got it", I got it - I was hooked and I wasn't putting the book down until I was finished. I really liked that the coming zombie apocalypse, while part of the plot, never felt like the main part. And the will-they/won't-they chemistry between Acadia and Rod just pulled me deeper into the story. I can't wait to read ...more

This was a great book when I read it the first time last year and I'm very interested in reading the sequel when I get my hands on it.
Acadia is a badass without being too much of a baddass if that makes any sense. Oh, and "football" is so very sweet, cute, and a lot of other adjectives.
This book comes to proove those people who prepare for the end of the world aren't really that loopy ... well in this book anyway, lol.

*I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*

This is a new to me author and I had no idea what to expect. This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I was pulled into the life of Acadia and her friends as they dealt with an zombie outbreak. I loved how smart she was and how she was able to pull all of that off in a couple days. I am anxious to read book 2 and see what happens next.

I'll admit, I had a hard time getting into the first chapters of this book, but the glowing reviews kept me reading. At 10%, things finally started to click into place for me, and I bagan to enjoy the authors unique voice and writing style. Once the story took off, it was a fun, fast-paced ride with great characters and an excellent plot. Glad I stuck this one out.
