Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe my feelings on Cory Cyr's latest novel. I was so anticipating this book after devouring her first novel Bite and Release, but this book was just bad and boring. Latch (Lachlan) McKay is a 25 year old computer game wunderkind who has a reputation for loving and leaving women. Haven Wells is a 37 year old book store owner and just coming off a 7 year relationship that is described as abusive, but doesn't really delve into detail. The pair meet at a party ...more

I love Cory's writing. She gets you with strong characters that you can relate to, you want to be friends with, you want to be with.

Haven Wells is a recluse after a seven year relationship that ended with her heart broken. Emotionally abused, she is happy to stay at home and live vicariously through her best friend...the wild and crazy Weezie.

Weezie decides that its time for Haven to get out and drags her to a party. There she spots a gorgeous guy across the room, who seems to be watching her. N

THIS BOOK DESERVES MORE THEN A 5 STAR RATING

Well all I can say is that Cory has hit it out of the park again. She is the reason for the bags under my eyes and the intravenous coffee drip I have attached to my veins right now. Yes I know it is my own fault actually. I should not of started this book last night, but I as soon as I saw it say that it was live . Well my one click finger was itching, so I bought. The downloaded on to kindle, read the first page then the second page . Next thing I kn

One of this author's books popped up in my update feed and I was curious enough to check out her back list. Older woman falling in love with younger man seems to be her favorite theme and since I like it too, I bought this one on impulse.
Oh man, did I regret it!

If you want to write in first person (heroine) POV , please make your character funny, witty, upbeat...likable!
And not a whiny dishrag, a petty excuse for a human being, like in this one. I beg you!

Haven needed eight (or was it seven?) ye

Well this book was full of angst and a few mistakes but it kept my interest enough to the last page.

Haven Wells is a 37 year old who has survived a terrible abusive relationship with her boss and fiancé. That was seven years ago and she has now relocated to LA with her best friend Weezie, a character that I really loved in this book. They both set up home in the Hollywood Hills and Weezie helps Haven find a book store that she runs aptly called Book Haven.

Weezie the good friend that she is convi

Good book!!! My only problem with this book was the flowery, over the top, way that the hero
spoke. Guys don't speak like that.

I would read more by this author.

Heroine wasn't likeable, even though her ex had treated her badly. I was unable to warm to her. The characters felt childish to me. Bailed at 67% as it wasn't improving.

Haven Wells is a 37 year old woman who lives like a hermit. She owns a bookstore, that she hides herself in during the day, getting lost in the world of book boyfriends. At night she continues her lonely lifestyle at home hanging with her roommate Weezie. There is a reason for her shut in life: her ex fiancé mentally destroyed Haven. It’s been seven years without him, but even medication and therapy hasn’t helped.
Latch McKay lives the spoiled lifestyle you would expect from a gorgeous rich young

One of the hardest reviews I have wrote in a long time. Why? Because I am not sure I can express my LOVE for this book, and not make it sound like it was written by a crazy person. This book starts off with a BAM…WHAT!!!!!! And I from that moment on I was in love, it is a hell of an emotional ride I will take again. You met Haven, a woman after my own heart, a book lover. She had it ruff in the love department. So what does a woman to do? Give up and fall in love with a book boyfriend. She has a ...more

This was a very enjoyable read. Haven is a 37 year old coming out of a long term relationship where a boyfriend who constantly denigrated her over her looks, her bedroom performance and everything else. She is definitely low on self esteem and down on love until at a party she attends with her wild 40-year old roommate Weezie (a wonderful character), a drop dead gorgeous, young guy walks up to her while she's laying in a lounge chair out by the pool having her own pity party. The gorgeous hunk o ...more

Another great read from Cory! I fell in love with Bite & Release, so I was excited to read this story. I am glad I did. It was a very deep and emotional story, about two people needing to heal and move on. I mostly enjoyed it all. There is a part towards the end that left me uncomfortable, and I don't know how I really feel about it. It didn't ruin the book for me, but it shifted my view of Latch. I loved how strong Haven mostly was, but I'm not sure how much either of them healed. I enjoyed ...more

I thought this book wasn't going to be all that but more fool me that it turned out pretty good of a read.

I actually love Latch and Haven. Despite their age difference, you get the feel of a little whinging from Latch but not noticeable and Haven actually mentions it quite a lot that I found a tad annoying. I guess I don't blame her but you kind of get lost in the story and the age difference doesn't factor but their insecurity their drama their connection (WOW in a good way *winks) and the enj

Five stars...with reservations. First, Sorry, but I didn't love Latch McKay. Well, I liked him until about 82%, then he pulled a complete Jekyll and Hyde. With only 18% left in the book, it wasn't enough time in my opinion to redeeming himself. Haven spent a lot of time hung up on the age difference...I mean we should all be lucky to have a 25 year old chasing after our 37 year old a$$es. I enjoyed the story overall though and loved Keenan and Weezie (spin-off please!). Looking forward to Acquie ...more

It was a story of two extremely horny adults and the sex scenes eclipsed any story line or character development. Though Haven was nearing her forties, she acted immature and very insecure. She was stuck and did not seem to be able to get over her mentally abusive relationship which ended about seven years ago. Her maturity definitely matched that of her much younger, arrogant , self-entitled lover, Latch.

Another great story from Cory Cyr. I loved the characters and their interaction. There was humour and emotion so plenty of laughing and crying. Latch was very intense for someone so young but I loved him nonetheless. I shall look forward to reading more of this author's work.

Ok book.. a bit of a rushed ending. I'm not one to forgive abuse, either physical or mental, so this book really isn't the one for me.

I've read several Cory Cyr books now, and liked them very much. They are her later works (OMG, Catch & Release? Re-read that so many times) so I was interested to read Revivng Haven, as it is the first story she wrote. (But not necessarily published.) I felt a bit let down. Maybe it's because this was the first story Cory wrote, but I didn't think either of the main characters were as fleshed-out as some of her others. I didn't have much rooting value for them as a couple either, because I t ...more

The book was very emotional. I loved younger man and older woman romances but there is a lot of tragedy for the characters in what they are dealing with or have dealt with. There are certain scenes that had me cringing because at times I felt I could not forgive Latch, thinking that Haven can do better. But I will give it to Latch that at the end he showed his true colors and was redeemed to live a life with Haven. And Haven through the experience blossomed under the love even if the man had a d ...more

Heart wrenchingly wonderful

Initially I wasn't sure about this book. At the start, Haven's BFF truly annoyed me and I thought it would ruin it for me. But as I continued I saw how strong their friendship was and; how much support Weezie provided while Haven dealt with Latch and her past. This was an incredibly well thought out novel with well rounded characters. I can truly say I fell in love with Latch and Haven!

Only numbers

The friends in this book keep the story going with their humor and the banter they they keep going. They are always there for each other. Two men come in to their lives and things take roller coaster ride of emotions. There are some parts that are sensitive subject matters, sexually and degrading. The actions are apart of being under the influence.

This book was a welcome change from the usual older man younger woman scenario. I loved the fact that an age group close to mine was given a storyline you don't want to miss. The twists and turns of these real and flawed characters will have you invested from the first words until the last.

There is so much to love about this story and yet......There is such darkness too. Some physical, emotional and substance abuse play a role in this story... The substance abuse, which is the main issue for the leading man, shows how substance abuse can change a person. Anyone who knows anyone with a substance abuse problem will recognise how brutally honest and raw the portrayal is. I won't go into detail about it, because you really should just read it for yourself.

This is the second book from this author that I have read. I can’t wait to read more of her books. Again this involves a woman that is 12 years older than her male companion. It is a story of domestic abuse, alcohol and drug abuse.
