Introduction to Software Development: A Prelude to Creating Applications
Whether it’s developing the latest iPhone Application or other cell phone app, a gaming program, or software for tablets, notebooks, or desktops, starting with a clear plan for development is essential. This eBook introduces to you several application development methods that you can use and that are used in today’s software industry. While this eBook is in no way a full and complete discussion on each approach discussed, it is an introduction to the very important field of application software design.
Application Development, whether for an iPhone, Android, Tablet, Laptop, Desktop, or other ‘form factors’ has continually been a primary focus in the Information Systems and Information Technology field for decades. The competition in the app field has further emphasized the proper use of a development methodology to bring the app quickly to market in order to address the robust competitive environment that software is in. This book is presents an overview of the various software development methodologies and offers a few suggestions about the proper selection of a development model. While this book is an introduction to several methods in use by software engineers and programmers today, it offers a road-in for the new developer to better understand the myriad of choices when the developer is looking to build their own app for a multitude of platforms. This book is the first in a series of software development providing a broad introduction. Other short eBooks are/will be available in the near future providing more comprehensive coverage for a specific development focus (as an example, one such eBook will be on developing for the mobile phone market, requiring specific development techniques and approaches).
