Features words of inspiration from Billy Graham and personal stories of those who have been moved by his teachings, including a teenager that renounced a life of crime and a man that reached out to the mother he never knew.
Billy Graham was an American evangelical Christian evangelist and an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Graham is best known for his evangelistic missions or “Crusades.” He believed God knew no borders or nationalities. Throughout his career, Graham preached to millions around the world. He met and prayed with every U. S. president from Dwight Eisenhower to Barack Obama.
Graham authored 34 books, including his memoir, Just As I Am. In 1983, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan. In 1996, Graham and his wife, Ruth, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award Congress can bestow on a private citizen.
Graham married Wheaton College classmate Ruth Bell Graham in 1943. They had five children ( Ruth Graham, Gigi Graham Tchividjian, Anne Graham Lotz, Nelson, & Franklin Graham) and made their home in the mountains of North Carolina. They were married for 64 years before Ruth’s death in 2007. Graham died from natural causes on February 21, 2018, at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, at the age of 99.
What was the greatness of Billy Graham? Through the many stories from family, friends, co-workers, and people whose lives were changed through his simple and direct gospel messages, the overlying theme seems to be about Billy's deep abiding faith and dependence on God in every aspect of his life. The Billy Graham in the pulpit was the same Billy Graham playing tennis or helping at camp. Each chapter is a different story, and some of the stories are decades old, some are newer. All show an enjoyable man of sincere integrity. It is a quick and enjoyable read.
A book of short stories about Billy Graham's influence. I actually enjoyed the stories by his family the most so I will just read their books next time. I did fly through this one though because I got the large print version...I was turning a page as fast as I could read one. Maybe I am a large print girl though I did take a good bit of flack from Greg over it!
I thought this book was very heartwarming and very informative for effective prayer and overall very easy to read short stories of Billy Graham's life. Two thumbs up way up!!!
True Stories written by ordinary people and some not so ordinary... about their changed lives through salvation in Jesus Christ... and the ministry of one man, Billy Graham who made a lasting impact in the lives he touched thru his Evangelical Crusades around the world.
