Chandler Raines and her “dad” are on the run. Never staying in one place for very long. It’s just not safe. When they arrive in Lafayette, Louisiana, Chandler quickly realizes this is the place she wants to call home. Friends, a cute boy, and competitive cheerleading have her taking dangerous risks to have the life she always wanted. Risks she promised she wouldn’t take.
When her lies catch up to her, a decision has to be made. Stay or run? Will the evil that’s chased them for the last four years catch up to them? When Chandler’s past comes screeching into the present she’ll have to sacrifice everything to keep what she loves safe. But will it be enough?
Four years spent on the run, staying one step ahead of danger, of a shadowy figure who wants nothing more than to control Chandler, and silence her father, time and luck may be running out. Their latest stop, Lafayette, LA is different than any other town they have hidden in, and Chandler craves to be part of a community, to have friends, to be a normal teen, but will the warm reception and the handsome boy she meets end up being her doom in the dangerous game of survival she is an unwilling participant in? Will a freak accident bring her unwanted notoriety and bring danger to her doorstep? Her heart has been stolen by a brave and brash young man who has seen his own share of nightmares in the past and they have a special spark between them that Chandler has never felt before. Can she leave him and her father behind, offering herself to the dark stalker in exchange for their lives? Have the lies she has told finally caught up with her? With a huge reveal, uncovering the dark evil on her trail, this tale is one of the best YA thrillers I’ve read!
Shimmer by Elena Dillon will pull you in, heart and soul as she creates a lonely world for a teen who has endured more pain than anyone deserves to bear. Ms. Dillon jogs us through the chaotic and crazy lives of happy high school students, living life to the fullest in the cocoon of their close-knit town. She deftly bares Chandler’s yearning to be normal with a realism that can be felt and believed while giving her the maturity one would gain when trying to stay one step ahead of danger. Caeden is the perfect bad boy who isn’t really bad, just different, intelligent, protective and dealing with his own demons. The supporting characters, well, they were amazing, fun, sweet and the kind of teens anyone would be proud to know, as they demonstrate a loyalty and friendliness that is so often missing in today’s world.
Fast paced when necessary, rich in emotional detail without pouring on the angst, Elena Dillon has nailed another hit! She almost makes me want to have a high school do-over, minus the danger, of course.
I received an ARC edition from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Series: Breathe - Book 2 Publication Date: August 28, 2014 Publisher: Elena Dillon Genre: YA Mystery/Intrigue/Romance Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Thank you Mark My Words Publicity for my ebook copy of this book
Better than Breathe but still not my cup of tea. The relationships in this book were better developed in this book than it's forerunner but essentially it was almost exactly the same as the first one. It's focused on the second generation of characters from Breathe but the same in all the other ways. Our protagonist, "Chandler" is on the run from the person who killed her mother, and in voice is and thought is the younger version of Jasmine. So, if you like Breathe and you want another book almost exactly like it, read Shimmer.
I found this book an improvement on the first one in the series - Chandler as a character was much more interesting, with her tumbling and her mysterious life. Mystery is definitely something that Dillon does well - she kept me guessing about what was really going on for quite some time. I found it slightly odd that this book is set four years on from Breathe, it seems a large time gap, but I did like the way Jasmine's family was involved. However I still found there was a certain lack of feeling, a detachment. It's difficult to put my finger on exactly why, but Chandler just didn't draw me in as well as some characters have. I didn't feel her pain, nor her joy. Dillon's books offer good entertainment if you like mystery and suspense without getting dragged too deep.

5 Stars
Shimmer is the second book in the Breathe series by Elena Dillon and while it can be read as a stand alone I recommend reading Breathe first. Breathe is an amazing book and it will help you understand Caeden a little bit better because of what his family went through in the first book. Anyway, Shimmer is an another perfect blend of young romance and suspense. Chandler and her father have been on the run for four years after she witnessed her mother's murder. They never stay in one place for more than a few months so making friend, dating and doing anything to call attention to herself is out of the question. When they arrive in Lafayette everything changes though, Chandler is an experienced and talented tumbler who is talked into trying out for the cheerleading squad where she becomes instant best friends with Lily and Abby. The she does what a typical teen might do, she forges her dads signature and sneaks around to cheer, compete and be with her new friends. I loved that about this book. while Chandler is mature in some ways after being on the run for long she is still a teenage girl who rebels against her dad in order to try and have a normal life, even if its only for a little bit.
Chandler is an amazing young woman, she has been through a horrible tragedy and her life is anything but normal but she keeps moving forward and making the best of things. She does take unnecessary risks to cheer but can you blame her? She just wanted a little piece of a normal life especially when things start moving in a romantic direction with Caeden. I think the author did a brilliant job in creating Chandler's character, she was the perfect combination of normal teenager with the skittish behavior of someone who is running for her life. Because of her youth she didn't realize the full repercussions of all of her actions and the dangerous situations she was creating for people she cared about. There are a few situations in this book where I was amazed at the bravery and strength of this remarkable young girl. Watching her relationship develop with Caeden was amazing, I adored him in Breathe when he was a young boy. In Shimmer he's older and has grown into a gorgeous, over protective, suspicious but wonderful young man. After everything he went through in his young life it was no wonder he was so suspicious of everyone but once he opened up he was so amazing. His raw honesty about how he felt as a young boy unable to help his sisters broke my heart and helped me to understand the young man he had grown into. I loved the two of them together and how tentatively they approached their relationship since they had each been through so much in their short lives. There isn't much I can say about the suspense portion of this novel without giving away key information but WOW was it amazing! There were some twists I never saw coming and it was quite a wild ride.
I loved everything about this book, it was the perfect amount of romance and suspense and kept me hooked from the very page. Elena Dillon has an incredible talent for creating realistic, lovable character whose emotions and actions fit their unusual situations perfectly and her plots keep the reader completely captivated. The last few chapters of this book had tears streaming down my face with the raw emotion of Caeden and Chandler and what they went through. I adored this book and the characters and I sincerely hope that Lily and Finn star in the next one!!
Storyline: Addictive Female Character: Strong Male Character: Loyal, mysterious Author's Writing Style: Amazing Plot Twists: quite a surprise! Laugh Factor: minimal Cry Factor: I cried for the whole last few chapters! Steam Factor: Minimal Violence: some
I read this book immediately after reading Breathe. After finishing Breathe, I wanted more of the story and the characters so I dove right into Shimmer.
The story starts off with 2 characters that were new to the series in a different state from where Breathe takes place. My initial thought was “wait, I thought this story picked up where Breathe left off?”. Very quickly, the two new characters, Chandler and her dad, arrive in Lafayette, LA so we see that they are going to eventually bring in characters we are familiar with.
Chandler starts High School and is immediately greeted by two perky girls from the cheerleading team. Soon after they introduce the bad boy from the football team. All the characters seem close to being familiar but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Turns out, the story picks up 4 years after Breathe left off and the characters that are the main characters in this story were secondary characters from the first book.
This is very cool because now we are seeing who these characters are growing into since we last saw them. Once I realize who everyone is, I am hooked again.
Shimmer tells a new story as opposed to picking up where Breathe left off. There were many references in Shimmer to different occurrences in the first book but none are retold. It is definitely beneficial to read Breathe first (plus it is a totally awesome book that you do not want to miss!). The main characters from the first book do come back but they are definitely not the main focus.
There is a secret that Chandler is hiding. She is supposed to be laying low but after making friends and feeling like she belongs, laying low is no longer an option for her. She needs to be watching her back at all times because she is wanted by someone that will not stop until they find her. Chandler thinks she is doing her best but she is getting deeper and deeper into her lies trying to protect herself and her dad but they are also starting to weigh on her because now she is deceiving everyone she holds dear.
There is a twist in the book I was not expecting (then again, that is why it is a twist!). Chandler said one little line as she was nodding off to sleep that hinted everything wasn’t as it seemed between her and her dad, even to the reader and we were in on the big picture of why she always lied. I read it and stopped, thinking: What? What was that?? Did she mean to say that?? Again I found myself trying to figure out what was going on and get to the details as to why she had to hide her true identity and who was coming for her.
This story also had a lot of sweet moments but also darker moments; As well as a rush of anxiety for Chandler when all the lies start to fall apart at once.
We have all this excitement, drama, and worry, THEN there is the ending where she comes face to face with the reason for her last few years of lying, moving from state to state and changing her identity constantly.
This book doesn't suffer from the Sequel Syndrome, that's for sure! Shimmer is in fact quite better than Breathe. In my review for Breathe, I said I found it okay and sort of average. But it seems the author improved a lot in this book. Firstly, the characterization and writing, though already good enough in Breathe, were better this time around. You get Chandler, a girl who is used to slipping in and out of identities from the past four years. She is on the run from her mom's murderer and her 'dad' isn't really her dad, but they both haven't been in one place long enough to get caught by the murderer. Seemingly close to Breathe, but the character of Chandler is set in a whole different way.
Chandler can be be who she wants to be, and this time around she likes the town of Lafayette enough to mingle a little. Yes, the same Lafayette of Breathe, which means we get the characters from the first book too, just 4 hours years older! Say hello to older Lily and Caeden (boy, he grew up!) and Chandler falls easily into place with them. Caeden is initially a bit wary of her and behaves like a jerk, but eventually their outer snark with each other gives way naturally to a sweet relationship. She doesn't tell him the truth like Jasmine, but keeps it to herself since hers is more damning. The plot of the murderer was slow to develop and most of the story was focused on Chandler flying under the radar, but I enjoyed the story this time around. Maybe not expecting a mystery worked in it's favor - and the hints about the murderer were there earlier on anyway. Basically, it was more contemporary and I found Caeden and Chandler very cute together. Lily and Abby are best friends and such sweet girls - I liked how they immediately made Chandler at home. Finn was also around, and still intent on wooing Lily, just not by breaking her phone this time around ;).
Overall, I felt it was a good book. Things really picked up in the last quarter of the book. I loved how Chandler had a cool head in the situation, and the ending was very neatly resolved.
Received an ARC from Mark my Words Publicity via Netgalley. This in no way affects my opinion or my review.
I adored Jasmine and Easton in Breathe but I absolutely loved Lily,Caedan,Abby,Finn, and Chandler! They crack me up,especially Caedan who is mister wannabe bad boy with a heart hidden underneath that rough exterior. Now it'll just take the right girl to break down his wall and draw out the real Caedan. And that girl might just be Chandler but she isn't going play his games or let his cockiness get under her skin. She's been to way too many schools and seen more drama from watching as an outsider to know just how to handle cocky boys and snobby girls without it fazing her. Though Chandler knows just how to be a loner and draw the least attention to herself as possible, these Southern girls in Lafayette,Louisiana ain't having any of that. Now as she makes friends she must do all she can not to give away too much about herself or her past or risk putting herself. her dad and her new friends and their families in danger. Yeap once again someone decides Lafayette is the perfect hide out from the danger that is chasing them. Now all Chandler has to do is keep a low profile and pray "he" doesn't find them, and just maybe she'll get lucky this time and be able to love somewhat pf a normal teenage life. But of course life isn't that easy,so as Caedan seeks to figure out what Chandler is hiding and Chandler seeks to keep her past hidden, one seemingly harmless decision may threaten to bring it all crashing down. I love this series and hope Mrs.Dillon continues the series because I have fallen in love with these characters ans they almost feel like family since we share the same city. However, this was my question to my friend when we were discussing the books "is it weird I'm starting to feel a little creep out with this woman continually bringing killers to where I live even if they are just fictional?" Ok so I'm not that creeped out knowing they are fictional characters but then this happens "So Chandler's dad wants to do background checks on her friend's family and so she tells him 'how dangerous can it be we're living in Lafayette, Louisiana'...haha if she only know how ironic that question was",yeah that was another part of our convo about the book. I enjoyed Chandler and Caedan's banter and found Caedan quite hilarious at times.I really hope she writes the next book about Lily and Finn because, man they just need to get over themselves and admit they have something there and stop dancing around the subject before all that tension causes some irreparable damage to their friendship. And I so think there is more to the story behind Mr.Rourke's deportation.I'm very curious about him.
I have to admit that I was hesitant at first about reviewing Shimmer because I was told that it was similar to another book that I had previously reviewed and I didn’t want to read another book that was too similar in plot line. However, I was wonderfully surprised and most delighted that I chose to read this book because only on the surface is it similar to the other book. In reality it is much different.
Chandler Raines is 16 and has been on the run with her dad for the past 4 years ever since the murder of her mother. This is book 2 in the Breathe series, but does perfectly well as a stand-alone novel. Some of the supporting characters in this book were the main characters in book one. The main characters in this book are new. Chandler and her dad land in Lafayette, Louisiana. Chandler takes some risks, makes some friends and begins to enjoy life a little. But her past and her lies catch up to her in a giant collision.
Shimmer was such an excellent book! Ms. Dillon had me wondering most of the way through it wondering what Chandler and her dad could possibly be running from. The characters were realistic and down-to-earth. They seemed like real people. The friendships and conversations flow smoothly and have the feel of real relationships of real people.
This was an excellent romance novel too. Plenty of romance, but it was pleasantly clean and sweet. No smut needed! I loved that the characters had a good vocabulary and didn’t need to talk with a lot of expletives either. It made for a fun relaxing read. It’s a book that I would encourage my teenage daughter to pick up and peruse. I’m sure she would enjoy it.
The pacing was excellent in Shimmer. In fact, I didn’t really want to put it down. I did have to however, yet I finished the book in two days because I read it every moment that I could. The action was fast-moving and exciting too.
I would highly recommend Shimmer to anyone whether young adult or middle-aged if they enjoy romantic suspense. This book is a winner! I gave this book 5 stars out of 5!
Thank you to Mark My Words Publicity for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
OMG! I LOVED this book, well this whole series actually! Everything about it is just so freaking good! I loved Chandler, she was a very strong female character, she was dealt a truly crappy hand in life but she was making the most of it. With her wacky choices of clothes, and her devotion and faith in her dad, she was strong, smart, and just kickass. I also loved how although she was going against all the rules that she knows she should follow to join cheerleading, her heart was always in the right place, she didn’t like doing everything that she was doing, but her slight rebellion made her that much more real as a teenager. Then there is Caedden, he was such a cute kid in Breath, so the fact that this is his story was fantastic because we get to see how he is doing after everything that went down before. He’s… dealing I guess, but well what he went through is definitely not something that you get over regardless of how young he was when it all happened. The fact that he is so protective and suspicious was perfectly normal and I welcomed it because it added to the teenage normalcy that these kids should be experiencing. This book just sucks you right in, you get to see some characters that you met previously but didn’t really know because they were just kids (Lily, Abby, Finn just to name a few) There is also a reappearance of Jaz and Easton (who are as cute as ever) This is totally a YA book, super sweet and cute but there is that mystery hanging over everyone’s head because you just know there is a twist and you keep trying to figure it out the whole time. Elena Dillon has officially become one of my favorite authors and I will try to wait patiently for more books to come out, I REALLY want to read Lily’s book because its OBVIOUS she belongs with Finn and I wanna know how everything she has gone through has really affected her.
Recommendation: If you are looking for a cute quick read that you can get lost in this is totally the book for you! Although I would recommend reading Breath first Shimmer can be read as a Standalone as it takes places 4 years after Breath.
I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Elena Dillon and it most certainly won't be my last! I loved every second of this book and when I wasn't able to read I found myself constantly thinking about the story and itching to get back to it! The characters and plot lines were so creative and intriguingly intertwined that I was invested in the story immediately. I don't want to give anything away about this FANTASTIC suspenseful young adult romance so I am not even mentioning character names! Just read this book! You'll be glad you did!! Elena Dillion has been added to my MUST-READ Authors list!!!

Thanks to Mark My Words Book Publicity for providing this title in exchange for an honest review.
Part two of a series, Shimmer picks up a few years after Breathe with "Chandler" and her "dad" moving to the same town that Jasmine and her family escaped to, after four years on the run.
I have to say, Lafayette, Louisiana, sounds like one dangerous town. Everyone stops there while trying to run from their sordid past, but of course, it always catches up to them.
A couple of chapters into Shimmer, I found that it read very similarly to Breathe. Despite the differences in their stories, there was an extreme likeness between Chandler and Jasmine. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think the author found a formula that worked for her, and really, it works for these mysteries, as well.
What was most refreshing was Caeden. He wasn't nearly as perfect as the first male love interest, Easton. He was a sheep in wolves clothing - a bad boy, but not. Much more my type. In fact, in this story, I loved all of Elena Dillon's male characters. Chandler's dad was perfectly (and hotly) geeky. Finn made the perfect best friend, not to mention he dons his lifelong crush well.
There is very little to complain about in Shimmer. The writing style was simple, it entertained, and kept me hooked from page one. There was an ongoing mystery, that toned down the romance aspect and gave the plot balance. Straight forward storytelling makes me happy, and I think this book read a bit more maturely than the first. It's still perfectly fitting for young adults, but entertaining enough for adults, who love the YA genre.
While, yes, it read very much like book one. I loved seeing where the characters I got so attached to in Breathe ended up and now know what to expect from my next Elena Dillon read.
I received a copy of this book for free to review via NetGalley. All opinions below are completely mine.
When I started to read this book, I was immediately disappointed by it—but not for very long! The story starts off with the main character—who doesn't actually use her real name but is referred to as Chandler Raines throughout the majority of the book—and right away I was wondering if I was actually reading the right book. As a sequel to Breathe, I was expecting Shimmer to follow the same characters (Jasmine, Easton, Lily, Caedan, etc.). And it did, eventually. While at first it was a little bit shocking, I actually really enjoyed this type of a sequel where it followed a new character but also showed their life interacting with the characters that had already been established.
So, with that being said, Shimmer takes place four years after Breathe, and follows Chandler and her father, who are on the run from some mysterious man who is chasing after them. They don't stay in any one place for too long and try to keep as low a profile as possible. However, Chandler is quite skilled at gymnastic tumbling and finds a gym in every city she moves to. This time is different though, as Chandler gets noticed by the cheer squad and quickly gets wrapped up in the world of competitive cheer, all behind her father's back. This, of course, is a horrible idea for keeping a low profile, as cheerleading is not the type of sport where one can hide in the crowd, and especially not with tumbling skills as good as Chandler's.
There is a lot of good drama and plot in this book and I absolutely breezed through it I enjoyed it so much. After I got over my initial aversion to the introduction of a new main character, I fell in love with Chandler and her story. Overall I give this book 5/5 stars.
In Shimmer, we get to meet back up with Caedan, Lily, Abby, and Finn, who we first met in Breathe. But now "Chandler" is about to come in and shake things up a bit. The reader finds out early on that her name isn't really Chandler, the man she is with isn't really her dad, and that she moves around a lot with a new identity every time because they are running from someone.
This story takes place 4 years after the events in Breathe, so our cute little pre-teens have grown up some. Lily and Abby are still best friends, and they immediately take Chandler in as their new best friend. Chandler is ecstatic because she mostly keeps to herself and has few friends because they don't stay in one place for very long. On the other hand, Chandler isn't so sure what to think about Caeden, who has grown into a smart, sexy, motorcycle-riding bad boy. Plus, Caeden is fiercely protective of his family because of their past, and he is suspicious of Chandler and wonders what she is hiding.
As I said in my review of Breathe, I wish the feel of Southern Louisiana life had come through more in this story. Regardless, I still really enjoyed Shimmer. I loved the friendship between the girls and was really glad we got to see more of Lily and Caedan. I think the suspense and the love story was even better than in the first book. I would recommend this book and this series to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.
This book could technically be read as a stand-alone, but you will want to have read Breathe before you read Shimmer just so you can get to know Caeden and Lily better.
I received an ARC edition of this book in exchange for my honest review. This is a contemporary romance and it’s the second in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Elena provides the emotional detail to keep you captivated without all the mushy stuff that makes you want to gag. From the very beginning this book held me. The very first chapter pulls you in by making you ask yourself exactly what are Chandler and Logan are running from and why so often. I loved the mystery of not knowing and trying to figure it out. The plot line was amazing throughout this book. It was a great read from beginning to end. Chandler has gone by so many names it’s hard to remember who she really is. As a teenager one wants to have fun and not worry about things, but Chandler isn’t afforded that option. She will never be able to let her guard down. Chandler and her computer genius dad Logan have been on the run for four years since her mother’s murder. They have to constantly move and change identities to keep her safe from the monster that lurks in the dark. When this move lands them in Lafayette Louisiana, Chandler goes to the local gymnastic gym to join tumbling classes and when the coach sees her talent and begs Chandler to join their competitive cheer squad Chandler wants to say yes because she misses competing, but she never knows when they might have to up and move in the middle of the night again. Chandler wants nothing more than to be a normal teenager who can make friends and stay up sharing their secrets during sleepovers.
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This is a YA contemporary romance and it's the second in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed this one!! Such a great find and I can't say enough about the plot line in this series. I loved the mystery around why Chandler and Logan are running and who from plus the added bonus of seeing the Rourke family. Great read and I give it 4 Stars. I look forward to where this series goes and would love to see the next one touch on Lily and Finn.
"Chandler" has gone by so many names it's hard to remember who she really is. The only thing she knows for sure is she will never be able to let her guard down. Chandler and her computer genius dad "Logan" have been on the run for years since her mother's murder. They are constantly moving and changing identities to keep her safe from the monster that haunts her dreams. When this move lands them in Lafayette Louisiana, Chandler goes to the local gymnastic gym to join tumbling classes. When the coach sees her talent and begs Chandler to join their competitive cheer squad everything inside Chandler is screaming YES. Chandler desperately wants to compete again but making promises and friendships is risky when you may have to disappear at anytime. Lies tend to catch up with her and when she makes a decision to join the squad she will have to decide what is more important, keeping her secrets or risking it all to be a normal teenaged girl.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Although this book is considered to be for young adults, I think it is for anyone who loves a great read. The characters are richly developed and I felt immersed into their lives. The storyline flows effortlessly throughout this book. This author is a very gifted storyteller. I am looking forward to reading all her books, and believe me, I am far from being a "young adult". I highly recommend this book to everyone. I am about to read "Breathe" which is the first book of the series, although this can absolutely be read as a standalone book. Absolutely wonderful book filled with suspense! Read it, love it, I know that I did!

I was expecting this to be a sequel to Breathe when in actual fact you can read Shimmer as a standalone. It does feature Jasmine's family from Breathe heavily though so its nice to see them in this. Our main character is a teenage girl on the run with her father from someone (we don't find out who until near the end of the book), she regularly has to move and change her whole identity. This time she is calling herself Chandler and they end up in Lafayette. Her father likes her to keep herself to herself and not gain any attention but Chandler loves to tumble and ends up on the cheerleading squad at her new school which she has to keep secret from him. We also see her make new friends and have a romance all behind his back. At the end of some of the chapters we get a little part from the person who they are on the run from and I had no clue who it was, Elena certainly knows how to write a mystery. I am giving this the same stars as Breathe but I did think it was slightly better, the love interest isn't as 'perfect' in Shimmer and I preferred that as it was much more believable. I will certainly look out for more books by this author in the future.
This builds on the events in 'Breathe' by the same author and involved many of the same characters plus 'Chandler Raines' and her “dad” who have been on the run for four years. 'Chandler' is a sassy, strong, female character who is really ready to settle down and stop moving; she settles quickly into her new school, making friends, joining in, socialising, meeting a cute boy . . . daring to start to lead a more 'normal' teenage life but lying to everyone to do so. Why are they on the run? Who are they running from? To find out the answers to these questions and what happens, you'll need to read the book - but it involves murder, romance, kidnapping, competitions, accidents . . . WOW!
I really enjoyed this book and how the characters continue to be developed - looking forward to the third book in the series being published, too! Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for this, an honest review. I recommend reading this series but also issue a quick reminder that this is the second book in the series, and you really should read 'Breathe' before this one!
Chandler and her dad are on the run in this book, which instantly got it off to a great start. I love books about people on the lam, but this one was well written. Of course, she wants to settle in one place, but knows she can't and when she starts going behind her father's back, she risks everything for friends and fitting in and, maybe, sort of, some kind of romance? Basically, this book has everything I enjoy. Mystery, action, a tough, difficult female and a bad boy who isn't quite the bad boy he appears to be at first glance. Awesome book. Highly recommended! My only critique is that I want to know more about Caeden and Chandler, sigh. The book could have been twice as long and I would have enjoyed it. Disclaimer: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
I am a fan of YA fiction and this book was one that had me caught from the beginning. Sometimes books start of slow, but this one grabbed me from the first paragraph. You can relate to the Chandler as she just desires for a normal life. This book was the perfect balance of young love, suspense, mystery, and humor all wrapped in one book. I am one who can normally predict what was going to happen but believe me; I was surprised when the identity of who was after them was revealed. This book was well-written and I enjoyed Elena's writing style. I look forward to reading more books by her. I would highly recommend this book. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I messed up and didn't read the blurb about the book. Anyway, it took me a little bit to get over the fact that this book wasn't about Easton and Jas. Let me tell you, I got over it. This has a similar story equation as breathe except this time the stalked girl knows it. I read this book very quickly because it totally kept my attention. I immediately bought this authors other book: 'Crushing' and loved that one too. For YA books that have some morals involved these are good books. If I had tween daughters I would totally have them read these books!
This is a YA contemporary romance and it's the second in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. I liked the fact the author took her time in developing the love story and it wasn’t just instant love, instant love stories are a major no go for me and have caused me to instantly stop reading just as fast as they instantly fell in love. I loved the mystery around why Chandler and Logan are running but I think it took too long to explain the reasons why. In doing it, it made it hard me to understand what the big deal was, and why they were running. Over all out of 5 stars I would give this one a 3.
Shimmer is a YA romance with suspense....a first for me. Since I mostly stick to YA paranormal romance. But I have to say that this book was amazing!!!! I was hooked from chapter 1 and finished it in 2 days. The characters are lovable and relatable. The romance was very clean and so sweet. The suspense was incredible! I kept trying to solve the story before the story completely unfolded. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great YA read. I will definitely be reading more from Elena Dillon!!! She now has a new fan! * I was given this book for an honest review.
Another 5 stars. Chandler and her "Dad" are on the run. Her mother was murdered and she is hiding from the murderer; picking up and leaving every few weeks in order to keep safe. They land in Lafayette and Changer meets a group of girls she forms an instant bond with. She goes against her Dad and her own knowledge and joins the cheer team. After an accident her face is plastered all over nation news causing more problems for her safety.
I love the Dillon intertwines Caeden and Lily into this story. I cant wait fro the next installment.
Elena's done it again. She knows her YA and writes it beautifully. Chandler and her father are on the run, we just don't know what from and it has to be deadly. Years of lies and living without real friends or roots have taken their toll on a young woman who needs some stability. She just has forgotten how deadly such a thing can be. And I was so happy to see Caeden again all grown up (and swoon worthy), from Breathe, the first in this series. Please keep it coming, Elena!
This book was really amazing! Really a hard book to put down and never a dull moment. Great follow up to Breathe! All the previous characters were tied in nicely. I can't wait to read whatever comes out next!! These books are great for tween on up as they do not contain language, sex or drugs. An occasional kiss but that is it. Breathe and Shimmer would both be great books to pass on to others.

This book was wonderful. I was hooked from the first page. I loved the storyline, the characters, and the suspense. Even though it is part of a series, it is great as a stand alone book. I am buying the other books in the series now. I can't wait to read more books by this author!!!
I adore Elena AND her books SO MUCH! I don't even like romantic suspense that much. But this book was really really really good. Chandler and Caedan were seriously squeal worthy. Read this book! You won't regret it!
