Normally I can sit down and read a book in one sitting when it grips me. This book gripped me but there were a couple of times where I had to put it down and get my thoughts together. There were other parts that gave me goosebumps. Then there was a point where I didn't wanna go on as I was afraid the author was gonna pull my heart apart. Did she? Well if you read my reviews you know I don't give spoilers so you will need to read it yourself to find out.

This author did a fantastic job with this s

What an emotional read about military life

I love the realness of these characters. You will be more patient understanding and grateful for our deployed men and women in the Armed Forces

Military romance usually isn't my first choice when I pick up a new book. I'm always wary that it will be all romance and no story. I enjoyed this one however for several reasons. First, I liked the characters. I liked who they were as human beings struggling through a time when each of them felt alone and scared, not knowing if there was a future ahead of them. Clearly, no one who hasn't been in these types of situations can ever know what it is really like, but I felt like the author did her r ...more

Emme (Doogie) Sawyer at twenty-two years old is a Navy Corpsman. Her unit was taking a rest. She volunteered with Marines for a humanitarian mission to a school in Afghanistan to provide medical care for the kids. She never expected this mission to see action. The room held fifteen dead or wounded children. And if they weren’t able to get the wounded out of there quickly, the fatalities would increase. During subsequent movements with the Marine unit, she actually encounters quite a bit of actio ...more

This is a good novel showing the tensions that arise when romance blossoms on the battlefield. The author reminds us that both men and women need to act wisely to function well when both are on the front lines. Women in battle has been an issue and this book does a good job in bringing out the challenges. The character development of Sawyer is pretty good as the novel is from her viewpoint. Raven's character is not as well developed, although he remained aloof because he was responsible for his ...more

really enjoyed reading this book. You can read the blurb to find out what it's about, but let me say that I didn't want to put it down. The suspense and sense of danger were so compelling I had to keep reading to find out how it ended. It was very realistic. You had no doubt that you were in a war zone in the middle of life and death.

Danger from the Taliban was only one of the issues the characters faced. Their faith was challenged in the midst of death, destruction, and the loss of the men who

A Thousand Stolen Moments is my first book by Connie Ann Michael. Ms Michael has delivered a well written book. The characters are perfect for this story and the best part of the book for me. There is plenty of drama, action and suspense in this book and I won't lie, you may need a tissue or two. This is a clean read, no explicit sex scenes. I enjoyed reading A Thousand Stolen Moments and would happily read more from Connie Ann Michael in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I was born and raised in the city of Seattle but after attending Washington State University I turned into a country girl and moved to a small...very small town. I have two teenage boys that provide countless amounts of material for my books. My boys have left for college and now I occupy my time playing with my three dogs, mountain biking, kayaking, and anything else I can do outdoors.
