I work in international aid and development, and I think having a travel guide for any country I'm going to is a must. And I almost always choose Lonely Planet. I love setting the book out on my desk and seeing aid workers scoff at a "tourism" book - and then, at the end of the day, sheepishly come into my office and ask to borrow it. Bought this book as it was the only one I could find on Ukraine and I was planning a short trip. It was more than I needed as I was only going to be in Kiev and Chernobyl but it was quite helpful. It was broken up into areas of the country, and within each section by activities, things to see, places to eat, etc. There was a really great walking tour of the main sites in Kiev that was really great and we ended up doing the whole thing (though we started in the middle).
