Magic realism mixes with romantic comedy in this new novel from Sarah Belle about the dangers of internet shopping – and using magic to solve real world problems.

Lou’s life is perfect. She loves her job, her renovated house, and most of all, her gorgeous fiancé, Aidan. But when her old flame and Aidan’s school yard nemesis turn out to be the same person, Hunter Wincott, L

In addition to that I also freely admit that one of my greatest guilty pleasures in life is my enjoyment of stupid rom-com movies – and my favorite overused theme is the “do over.” You know what I’m talking about. The stories where someone wishes their life had been different and by the magic of an ancient voodoo spell or some such find they get a chance to do things over again. Like in 17 Again . . .

Surprisingly good book, especially considering I don't normally tend to like Chick-Lit!
In fact, all of the problems I normally have with this genre...aren't there.
There's no obnoxious friend that I want the heroine to kick to the curb.
But normally the MC just listens to their horrible advice and smiles...
There's no awful passive-aggressive family that needs to be put in their place.
But normally the MC just coasts through the story oblivious...

This was such good fun.
I'm a huge fan of Sarah Belle's writing, and I knew from excerpts I've seen from Miss Spelled, that I'd love this book. It didn't disappoint.
I had LOL moments during the 'Mudder' scenes, and the Yoga scene. I thought Mel was the perfect best friend and any time Mel and Lou were together on the page, I was chuckling.
To be fair, I think 'magic realism' might be something you either enjoy, or don't. I'm not sure there's an inbetween (unless it's realms).
But if you've yet to

Diversity is such a wonderful thing isn't it?

For instance, had I read a single review that had given this book a one star rating, I wouldn't have to be writing one myself because....someone else, would have saved me the time and money.

I was refused an arc of this book.

For one side I would like to thank that person who refused my request..whoever she/he may be:

I loved this fun story by Sarah Belle, it had lots of laughs and some unexpected twists. Some of my favourite lines from the book:

- life is a "big, fat pile of ash and dust and crap, from which only the bald chicken of bad luck will emerge rather than the phoenix of rebirth."
- "...he's so gorgeous. Look, he's left little puddles of sex appeal on the floor behind him. I'm tempted to go bathe in one."
- "It was the most erotic episode of oral hygiene imaginable."
- "He can polish my vajazzling any t

Super cute story. I absolutely loved Ms. Belle's debut Hindsight and Miss Spelled wasn't a disappointment. I read it all in one go and finished with a huge satisfied smile. Simply wonderful.

You'll be laughing from the very first page with Miss Spelled! A fabulous rom-com, Lou get's it wrong, disaster ensues and carries on right until the last page. Unusual and hilarious, Ms Belle seems to be nailing these time-slip novels. Her first, Hindsight, was also brilliant, a notch above the usual rom-coms out there because it's intelligent too. Very well written with great comic timing, and lovable characters. Well... all except Hunter and Geneva - the dastardly, rotten cads, but you gotta ...more

I was expecting a predictable rom-com plot with Miss Spelled, but was pleasantly surprised to find the book delightfully quirky and unique.

Lou, a 30-year-old school teacher, turns to a magic spell found on the internet to erase her past with an ex-from-hell – an ex who turns out to be her new fiance’s nemesis. Of course the spell backfires in a big way and Lou is left scrambling to put the jagged pieces of her perfect life back to the way it was before.

I absolutely adored Lou. She’s a curvy, pea

1st reaction: Trying to decide between 2 and 2.5 stars.

Maybe it's the cultural differences between the US and Australia but that was, um, not good. Normally I can find something good to say about the actual writing, but a lot of the descriptions weren't humanly possible? Like tears pricking at the back of her eyeballs. And if I read the words "quivering groin" one more time in a non-erotic setting in going to scream.

This was such an adorable read full of mishaps and what if's that it was hard to resist. I ended up reading this in one sitting and it brought a smile to my face and a few laugh out loud moments. Perfect for a quick summer read and a refreshing cleanse the pallet kind of read.

Lou as a character is fabulous. So is her best friend Mel. When things look really down they both try to find something to laugh about the situation. Theirs is a true friendship. Both willing to so things for the other that only real friends do. If their was a body they would be willing to help the other bury it. Lou is a good, kind hearted person, but some of the things she does to her archenemy Hunter, are

A fun read, light and fluffy, but with some parts that were really emotive. I loved Lou, who wouldn’t? She was honest, loyal, hardworking and so deeply in love with Aiden. When she had to choose between her happiness or the happiness of her family and best friend I was so full of admiration for her decision. I just wanted things to work out for her. She was trying so hard to get Aiden back, to get their love back on track, and yet e

After really enjoying Sarah's book "Hindsight" , when I saw that she had written a new one I just knew I had to read it and that I would love it and readers I did. Miss Spelled starts off with Lou and Aiden St James's one year anniversary and he has just popped the question and sparks and excitement are flowing. Then just as excitement hits , something in turn comes crashing down ready to pop Lou's balloon . Enter Hunter - he is the bane of Lou's existence and we discover he is also the arch-ene ...more

Another winner from Sarah Belle, who is fast becoming one of my favourite Australian authors.

Lou's perfect life is turned upside down when she casts a spell (purchased on the internet) to prevent her fiancé, Aiden, from finding out about her relationship with a former lover. Lou's spell erases all memory of her from her fiancé's mind, but also alters the lives of everyone around her. She has one week to win Aiden back and the lengths she goes to will have you in hysterics.

This book is laugh-out-

Well, that was cute. Lou’s life is moving along quite perfectly; she has a great job, adorable house, and she’s newly engaged to the man of her dreams. Then, an ex comes back into the picture and instead of being honest with her fiancé (not smart!) she decides to cast a spell on the ex to remove herself from his memory (seriously, not smart!) And how would you imagine a spell, bought over the internet, would turn out? Yea, not quite like it was anticipated

This is the second book of Sarah Belle's I've loved. I can't wait for the third! Loveable Lou Mercer takes you on a journey that is both hilarious at times and moving at others. I found I loved many of the characters in Miss Spelled, particularly Lou's best friend and also her family. Whilst the family play a fairly minor role in the story when they do appear they provide great support for Lou and a lot of laughs for the reader. I even loved to hate the bad guys in this story. I liked the idea behind this story but it didn't work out perfectly for me.

Lou has it all. The job that she loves and a fantastic man. She's happy. Even happier when Aidan pops the question. But then Hunter reenters their lives. Except Aidan doesn't know that Hunter and Lou know each other. Heck Lou didn't know that Aidan knew Hunter. Hunter and Aidan hate each other, in fact I don't think hate is even strong enough for these two

Lou's life is going well, she has just gotten engaged, has the cutest house ever, and a great job. When an ex comes back into the picture she isn't truthful with her fiance. She instead cast a spell she bought over the internet to make her ex forget her. Things don't go as planned and things get a little crazy. She has a week to fix it and the things she does to get her life back are very entertaining.

This is an adorable and quick read, with just a little touch of magic. There are some very fun

An intriguing read, Miss Spelled is funny, light, and magical!

Lou is just about to have her dreams come true. Then things spiral out of control in the most...crazy of ways! Oh my!

This book IS definitely a lighthearted read, but there's some great emotional depth to it, too. It's layered with humor, a touch of magic, and great character depth and growth. I was very pleasantly surprised at the turn out! Lou is a fun character, really enjoyed her from the start. I'd love to see this book in a made

This book just makes me want to say one word, a bunch of times: Yes, Yes, Yes! I loved it! This book is so my personality and spot-on what I love to read. I’m determined to one day write a book just like this, and I will most definitely be reading this again whenever that day comes. I love a sprinkle of magic in my books – not a full-fledged other world or people with powers, but just a small dose of stretching the imagination. What I probably loved most was that I had no

It was a cute read but some of it was...blah. I don't want to sound rude but Lou got on my nerves more than she should have. Aiden was perfect. Hunter...he should be castrated, and Mel made the whole story even better. It's a 50/50 for me. I'd recommend it if this book seems like something you'd like.
