The lovable duo of Cowgirl Kate and her horse, Cocoa, are back - this time for some fun (and not-so-fun) adventures in the rain.

Cocoa isn't so sure about being outside during a thunderstorm, even if the thought of racing the wind sounds exciting. He may just get his chance, though - on the way back to the safety of the barn! Pretending to have a cold might give Cocoa an idea of what a sick cow would feel like, but missing out on timothy grass, apples, a

In this title, we find out what happens at the ranch for Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa when it rains. We start with the buildup of the storm and discover that Cocoa is not fond of thunder. Then Cocoa fakes a cold to stay out of the rain, but changes his mind when he hears about all the good food he'll be missing. A book my 6 yr old loved, a little old for my preschoolers. A solid reading level 3 book, this reader has a good amount of advanced vocabulary words, but not so long that it discourages a new reader. Used it for his read out loud book, which was perfect. It took about 20 mins for him to read and had just enough new vocabulary words to make it challenging. Also, it was a fun and interesting story he could get into. He liked it so much, he asked for more by this author. Great reading book!

This is a solid 3 1/2 stars for me. I like this series a whole lot. They are great early chapters book, and I enjoyed the stories and the illustration. Not quite a 4 star but still a really good book that girls will love and even boys will like it because of the horse!

Really like this series, but not as much as Mr. Putter and Tabby books
My horse loving girl likes them a lot.
Stories are a bit TOO simple.
A few good laugh-out-loud moments in every book.
This one is the favorite so far.

This was a such a cute collection of stories! I really enjoyed the illustrations and how the book is divided into mini stories. It would be a great read-aloud for younger grades.

Wonderful illustrations and subtly humorous text make this series a must for beginning readers, bonus if they happen to fancy themselves little cowgirls already.
