This book could pass along as second chance romance, but i kinda wanted more context how they came to be before he left her.
I luked how just the right amount of drama. I loved Brooke and how she didn't want to give him a chance, but also didn't air out all their business when they broke up. The chemistry between the characters felt natural and yet, it wasn’t just about the steam. There were unresolved issues that were delt with between them and it did left me satisfied.
If you love second chances, strong connections, and characters who deserve all the happiness, Aiden and Brooke could be the couple you're looking for.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
🎤Dual narration by Connor Crais & Samantha Cook
Connor and Samantha did a great job with the banter, passion, and spice. I listened to this in one sitting and would definitely recommend the audio.
Thank you to Must Love Audio for providing the ALC.
An easy escape read to the last visit with the Sterling family. We get some answers about why Aiden has not been around the family, continuing to wander as a traveling journalist. He has been around the world reporting the stories of war, weather disasters and his most recent research has upset some people. His brother will be stepping aside from the family business to be with his wife and newborn. It is time for Aiden to come home.
But he also needs to admit he left his heart at home, and the owner will now be working with him. Brooke is ready to move on, if she is going to work with Aiden. He has other plans, and knows they belong together. Will they get a second chance?
The two need to heal, address their pasts, before they can build a future.
I loved this story, catching up with the family, the suspense of the secrets and lies. I am looking forward to more.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
I really enjoyed this book. Brooke always felt strong and determined, even when her past with Aiden made everything more complicated. I liked how their connection never disappeared, even after years apart, and how the story showed both the pain and the sweetness of a second chance. Aiden made mistakes, but he worked hard to prove himself, and that gave the romance more depth. I thought the balance between heartfelt moments, banter, and danger worked really well. The writing was smooth, the pacing steady, and the emotions reale, which made it easy to lose myself in the story. In the end I was ready for more of this series. Thank you so much to the author and The Author Agency for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.
Aiden and Brooke kept a secret from their families for five years, except they all knew something happened. The only secret was the details of what happened to cause them to avoid each other anytime Aiden was home from his travels. They have grown up and can look at the past with some perspective. How they currently feel about each other and if they want to change the dynamics of their relationship is up to them to decide. The attraction to each other is stronger and harder to resist. The threats that Aiden brings home with him from his last journalism assignment puts everyone in danger. The families pull together, put teamwork and communication first, and come up with a plan to keep everyone safe. The spice and steam levels are what we expect from a Carly Phillips, HEA romance. 🥰.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was another sweet, easy read from Carly! I love using her books has palate cleansers between more dense books because they’re mostly lighthearted and a bit of fun!
Aiden and Brooke were very cute together. They obviously had a lot of history and it would come across in their banter. It made the fastburn instalove of novella a little smoother.
I quite enjoy this series and can’t wait to read what’s next!
Brooke knows Aiden is coming home after years spent globetrotting for his job, and she wants nothing to do with him, the man who spent one very memorable night with her, then left the next day. But their parents are seriously dating, and he's taking over the CEO duties for the company where she works, so there's zero chance she'll be able to avoid him. Little does she know, Aiden's got an agenda on his mind when it comes to her...
Aiden was young and stupid back when he left Brooke, but he thought he did it for her own good, never stopping to realize he wasn't giving her the chance to choose for herself. But now he's back and he's going to get her back if it's the last thing he does. He's never stopped loving her, and he wants to spend forever with her. He just has to convince her want the same thing.
Brooke and Aiden are sweet together. I love how hard she made him work for her forgiveness, and her heart, and how willing he was to listen to her and realize his mistakes. The suspense was an added benefit that gave their story some edge, and resolved in due time. Second chances only work for me if the two work hard at fixing what broke them up the first time, and Aiden and Brooke put in that work. I was rooting them on and was smiling by the last page of their sweet HEA. There's only one more book in the Sterling Family series, and I can't wait because it's a holiday story, Just One More Date: A Sterling Family Holiday NovellaJust One More Date.

We have been wondering now for a while what the real story was, what kept Aiden from returning to his family and we are finally going to learn why as he comes back into the Sterling Family fold permanently. The Sterling kids were all shaped early on by a tragedy that left each of them with issues and hang-ups that followed them into adulthood and interfered with their ability to have healthy relationships. But as each of them found that other half of their souls they came to accept that their past could continue to drag them down or they could allow themselves to find and give love and finally move forward to happiness. Aiden has been on the run for years, leaving behind the woman he loved, never realizing that he broke her heart and left them both living a half life. Now that he is back to fill in for his brother while he is on paternity leave, Aiden is faced with Brooke daily and he is no longer willing to live without her, but getting her to forgive him, much less offer her trust again is going to be a huge feat for him. Brooke gave her heart to Aiden a long time ago, and though he walked away from them after a single night, she never stopped loving him and the pain of seeing him sporadically through the years made her into a woman that couldn’t trust in the passion and love he offered. Now that he says he’s back for good, giving up his traveling ways and wanting to have a relationship, she is willing to take a chance, even though she is scared to fully trust in him. Then when a danger from his past comes knocking, she refuses to let him walk away, leaving her behind again, because Brooke loves him too much to lose him again.
Reading Brooke and Aiden’s story was filled with trauma, passion, angst and love as they worked through their past, navigated their present, and found a way to build toward a future that would allow them both to reach for what they both wanted in life. Brooke and her mother have been extended family to the Sterlings for so long that she feels like a member of the clan, but she’s never felt like Aiden was a sibling, and when he offered her everything, she wanted then ripped it away from her years ago, she never imagined she’d be able to forgive and try again. But the Aiden that has returned has changed and she wants him even more. She is smart, sassy, brave, and loving, but seeing the way she makes him work to prove himself and earn his way back into her heart and earn her trust again shows me that she truly understands her worth. Aiden knows he made a big mistake leaving Brooke behind, but he never realized just how big it was until she confronts him with the truth and now, he will do whatever it takes to get her back in his bed and keep her there forever. When he learns that danger is stalking him, though, he has to accept that being with him puts her in danger and decide if risking her life is worth the happiness that being with her and loving her offers him. Aiden was a wounded, terrified man, that needed to accept so much in life cannot prevented, no matter how we wish it can, and that need to protect, his deeply caring nature, and sweetness made me love him immensely. Together Brooke and Aiden were firebrands, and their passion tore up that pages and when they both finally accepted that their feelings were undeniable and accepted, they were forever meant to be together it was beautiful to experience. I loved this series, and I am sad to see it ending after one more short novel, but I know that whatever Carly Writes next it’ll be fabulous, and I cannot wait!
Just One More Time is book 6 in the Sterling Family series and follows Aiden Sterling as he tries to make amends for something he did years ago while trying to figure out what is next in life for him.
Aiden is the wandering son of the Sterling clan. Years ago, he became a traveling journalist reporting stories around the world. He has been in war torn countries, weather ravaged countries and many other situations. Sadly, he left behind his heart when he left.
Brooke is the daughter of woman who helped Alex Sterling raise his children. She and her mom live in the carriage house behind the Sterling home. She and Fallon Sterling grew up together, went to college together and remain best friends to this day. Years ago, after one very special night, she had her heart broken by the one person she loved.
When Aiden returns home to help run the family business while his brother Jared takes some time off to be with his wife and newborn baby, he is forced to work directly with the woman who stole his heart many years ago. He is still in love with her and on a mission to rekindle their relationship. But he has his work cut out for him.
Brooke is not on the same page as Aiden. Since she knows she is going to have to work with him every day, she decides it is time to move on from him. So she agrees to let Fallon set her up on a date. Although the man is very nice, moving on from Aiden is going to be harder than she thought. She is comparing every man she goes out with to him.
Aiden is not fooling around when it comes to winning back Brooke. So when she calls him when the plumbing in the carriage house is not working, he goes out of his way to get someone out there right away. The bad news is it will require some major repair work. The good news is that means Brooke, and her mom Lizzie, will be moving in to the main house while the repairs are being made.
Aiden is thinking close proximity will further her case with her, but what he is not expecting is for her to put the brakes on. Instead, they rekindle their friendship from their younger years. They spend time talking and getting to know each other again. They also discuss what happened in the past. Until the past is resolved, they cannot move forward.
But when a threat follows Aiden home, it is no longer a threat just to him. It has now become a threat to his family and Brooke.
Will history repeat itself or will he have learned from his past mistakes?
It is so hard to get over your first love. I understand why Brooke feels the way she does. But her and Aiden really need to talk to each other. When that finally happens, it is an eye opening experience for Brooke. He did not leave her to go on some grand adventure. There is so much more behind his reasons.
There are a couple of places in the story where I just want to slap Aiden silly. After making such a huge mistake years ago, one would think he would have learned not to make unilateral decisions that impact others. But no. When he tries to do that again to Brooke, she puts her foot down.
Years ago, Brooke was too timid to stand up to Aiden and his decision to become a traveling journalist and leave everyone behind. But this time, she flat out tells him she is coming with him. I love that!!! You tell him Brooke.
We've been waiting for the backstory on this couple and we finally got it!
Brooke Snyder grew up with the Sterling family, as her mother is their housekeeper, and they lived in a guest cottage on their property. She and Fallon Sterling became lifelong best friends. Then, in college, she became good friends with Fallon's older brother, Aidan, though she had fallen for him a long time before that! They had one magical night together, and the next morning, he announced to the family, and her, that he was taking a job as a globe-trotting reporter, and he was leaving New York. She was devastated. She was also mortified that she clearly made more of their connection than there was, and she decided not to tell anyone, including Fallon, what had happened between them.
After traveling the world for years, Aidan Sterling is back in NYC to stay. His older brother is about to go on paternity leave, leaving the family company temporarily without a CEO, so Aidan has agreed to sub in. His last story turned out to be a much more dangerous one than anticipated, and he's decided his life of a roving reporter is over. He's always loved Brooke, and knew he hurt her deeply, but he always hoped one day he could make it right. Now is his chance. But will Brooke be willing to hash things about between them, or will she never be able to forgive him?
Brooke and Aidan always had BIG chemistry (SO HOT TOGETHER!), which is why when things were so strained, and they thought they were keeping it under wraps, the whole family knew SOMETHING was wrong between them. They weren't nearly as slick as they thought they were. There were hurt feelings, misunderstandings, and a lot of time between them that had to be made up for. I appreciated the way they both were honest about the mistakes of their past and made the proper apologies, in order to move forward.
There was a subplot about Aidan's final story continuing to endanger him, which also kept things moving along. All the the previous Sterlings made appearances too, which is always one of the most fun parts about this author's series.
I really enjoyed this series, and I'm so glad we finally learned about this couple's history, and got to see them overcome it!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given. Reviewed by Megan from Romanced by the Book
As the sixth book in The Sterling Family Series, Phillips delivers a second chance romance in Just One More Time. This steamy frenemies to lovers story will leave you wanting for more!
Having grown up among the Sterling family, Brooke Snyder has always been close with all of them. Her life along with her mom’s completely changed the minute the patriarch of the family bought the state they lived in. It was also the time Brooke met and fell for one of the Sterling kids, Aiden Sterling. He was everything she wanted, but just when he started to notice her, Aiden dropped the biggest news to the entire family. He was set to pursue his dream of being a traveling journalist and was leaving New York behind. Breaking Brooke’s heart in the process and destroying her trust for the man she once loved. But life has mysterious ways of working itself out and ultimately brings them back together. Now she is the Chief Operating Officer at Sterling Investments and will be working closely with Aiden as he takes on the role of temporary CEO of the company. Brooke has worked really hard to guard her heart for the past five years, yet Aiden seems to want to win her back for good.
For the past five years Aiden Sterling has focused on his career as it took him all over the world as a traveling journalist. While uncovering stories, he is working on his biggest story yet. But not before witnessing what it could happen to those that are trying to do the right thing. Aiden soon becomes the target and his trip back home couldn’t come at a better time. His brother is taking a step back from his CEO duties while his pregnant wife gives birth, making Aiden the new temporary CEO of Sterling Investments. Yet, coming home brings him to the person he left behind all those years ago. The woman who still holds his heart no matter how much he wanted to move on. But Brooke ins’t interested to give them a second chance, so it’s up to Aiden to work his way back into her heart before it’s too late.
I really enjoyed reading Just One More Time, it’s clear that both of the characters have sizzling chemistry from the very beginning. But it’s also evident how much Aiden hurt Brooke’s heart and trust. He has to learn how to open up to her about what made him leave all those years ago. There is also the pending danger that he is in that could threaten those around him. With a level of suspense and lots of steamy moments, I would highly recommend checking out this story and the rest of the series!

JUST ONE MORE TIME is the sixth instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult STERLING FAMILY erotic, romance series set in the interconnected, Dare, Kingston and Sterling Family worlds. This is journalist Aiden Sterling, and Brooke Snyder’s story line. JUST ONE MORE TIME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Aiden and Brooke) JUST ONE MORE TIME follows the second chance romance and relationship between journalist Aiden Sterling, and Brooke Snyder. Five years earlier, Aiden Sterling broke Brooke Snyder’s heart, announcing he was leaving for an assignment overseas, and in the interim Brooke never forgot the betrayal by the man whom she had loved for several years. Fast forward to present day, Aiden has returned to New York in the wake of his father’s failing health, and his brother’s scheduled paternal leave but the past has followed Aiden to New York, and hoping to rekindle with the woman who stole his heart, Aiden begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine.
The world building focuses on two plotlines: Aiden’s last assignment has stirred the ire of some dangerous people, and our hero is willing to run to protect the people he loves but having just rekindled his friendship and possible future with our story line heroine, means the possibility of losing everything no matter which way he chooses. Working alongside Brooke at the Sterling Family business, Aiden knows he has to quickly mend the fracture between himself and our story line heroine.
The relationship between Aiden and Brooke is one of second chances: a renewal of friendship and love in the face of his dishonesty years before. Brooke never forgot or forgave our story line hero but Aiden is desperate for forgiveness, and is willing to prove he is worthy of a second chance. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is another large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting including Aiden’s large extended family of siblings Jared, Rex, Remy, Fallon and Noah; their father Alex, and Brooke’s mother Lizzie.
JUST ONE MORE TIME is a story of secrets and lies, vengeance and obsession, family and friendships, forgiveness and love. The fast paced premise is imaginative and edgy but the conflict resolution is too abrupt; the characters are sassy and lively ; the romance is spicy and spirited.
*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*
Brooklyn “Brooke” Snyder grew up on the grounds of the Sterling Mansion and is best friends with Fallon Sterling (Just One More Temptation). She was actually close with all the Sterling siblings. But in a 24-hour period five years ago, Brooke’s life changed… she gave herself to Aiden Sterling and then he announced to his family and Brooke the very next day that he accepted a job as a journalist traveling the world. And poof, he was gone…
Now Aiden is back home to step in at Sterling Investments for when his brother, Jared goes on paternity leave. Aiden knows that he will be working closely with Brooke, as she’s been with the company since she was 14 years old and is now the Chief Operating Officer. Brooke was heartbroken when Aiden left, but she’s positive they can find a working relationship.
The attraction is still strong between them, even though Brooke tries to fight it. And when the drains in the guesthouse where her mom, Lizzie and she still live, back up, Aiden invites the two of them to move into the main house until the issue is fixed. Since Lizzie is still the housekeeper for the estate and is dating Aiden’s father, Alex, it makes the most sense. Of course, Aiden makes sure Brooke is in the bedroom right by his.
Brooke lets down her guard enough to let Aiden back in and it’s everything she (and we) hoped it could be. All those memories of their growing up together and the heartbreak once he left comes crashing back. Aiden swears he’s back for good and won’t be taking another assignment around the world. But what Aiden doesn’t tell her or anyone in his family, is that the last assignment he was on kicked up some dirt and he brought the danger back stateside. At least not until the third attempt on his life.
Will Brooke let Aiden go underground until it’s safe for him to be with her and his family? Will Aiden let Brooke make up her own mind this time and go with him? Do they have a future together? I love the banter, wit, and sassiness that comes with Brooke and Aiden. And it’s great that we get an update on the rest of the Sterling siblings and patriarch. Second chance romance is one of my favorite genres and Carly Phillips knows how to write the heck out of it!
🩷 Former Best Friends 🤍 Second Chance 🩷 He hurt her in the past 🤍 Falls first in the present 🩷 Alpha Hero
What a way to dive into the Sterling Family meddling again. This book hit the perfect balance of drama, just enough to keep me hooked without ever feeling overdone. Brooke and Aiden’s story had everything: heartache, passion, angst, and love. Watching them wrestle with their past, survive the mess of their present, and still fight for a future together was such a wild ride.
Brooke was honestly my favorite. I loved how she refused to just roll over and forgive Aiden, and yet she never dragged their business out for the world to see when they fell apart. She’s strong and self-assured, even when Aiden’s return complicates everything. She’s smart, witty, brave, and so full of love, but she knows her worth. Making him work for her trust and affection again? Icon behavior.
The chemistry between them wasn’t just surface-level steam, it felt lived-in, like something that never burned out even after years apart. Their second-chance romance carried both the ache of what was lost and the sweetness of what could be again, which made it all the more addictive.
Aiden… oh, Aiden. He knows he screwed up when he left Brooke, but he doesn’t realize how badly until she confronts him with the truth. Now he’s desperate to win her back, no matter what it takes. But with danger creeping closer, he has to decide if keeping her by his side is worth the risk to her safety. Underneath his regrets, Aiden is a broken, vulnerable man, one who needs to learn that no amount of control can stop life’s harsh twists. His mistakes only made his determination to be better hit harder, and that gave his character so much depth. The way he cared for Brooke, deeply, fiercely, sweetly, completely won me over.
By the end, I was satisfied with how their unresolved issues finally came full circle. The mix of heart, heat, banter, and suspense was spot-on. With smooth writing, steady pacing, and emotions that felt real, this story pulled me in and refused to let go.
Thank you The Author Agency and Carly for this arc opportunity!
Carly Phillips has delivered another fantastic addition to the Sterling Family series with JUST ONE MORE TIME. A second chance romance which hits all the spots with heartfelt emotions, humour, suspense, and wonderful family interactions. This is the story I've been patiently waiting for and I wasn't disappointed.
Aiden Sterling and Brooke Snyder had always been friends, even sharing a steamy night together, then he broke her heart. Five years have passed, Aiden is back to work at the family business, which also means working with Brooke. The time has finally come for Aiden and Brooke to confront the past and their buried feelings for each other. Will Brooke be able to forgive Aiden for the past, or will she finally be able to move on?
I adored this couple. Their banter was fabulous, witty, and humourous, and their chemistry was read hot. I loved their little moment of jealousy, their passion, and their genuine love for each other. It was sheer enjoyment watching Brooke make Aiden prove that he can earn her trust and heart again, and his determination to succeed. While Aiden is concentrating on getting Brooke back, he also has other worries, he's been receiving threats after his most recent investigation as a journalist and is concerned for his and Brooke's safety.
JUST ONE MORE TIME was another heartfelt read from Carly Phillips. I enjoy the way she explores her character's emotions and their strengths. I fell hard for them both. Yes, he had a lot to make up for, but his heart was in the right place, and even though Brooke tries to fight what she feels, she knows she's fighting a losing battle. Once again Carly includes the extended Sterling family who bring plenty of humour and wise words to the story. This story was an absolute pleasure to read, and I can't wait for more.
This is the 6th book in the Sterling Family Series. This is the 3rd book that I have read out the of the series. Leave it to the Sterlings to have you locked into their story where you don’t want to stop turning the page. While this has some suspense it’s wasn’t something that I was expecting! Aiden is back home after his last journalism assignment to help with the family business while his brother is out. When he comes home he connects with Brooke, who is his former best friend. While things didn’t end well when the last were friends 5 years ago, he is going to try and do everything that he can to make her see that he is not the person that left years ago. While she still has her walls built up, she is slowly letting him in even though she knows that she shouldn’t because she is worried about getting hurt again. While they have to work at his family’s business with her daily they also live next door to each other and when something happens and she and her mom have to move into his fathers/ his house the sparks fly and they start testing out the water to see if they can have a relationship. Things start happening to Aiden and he is starting to be on his toes about his surroundings. Things take a huge turn when Brooke is put into danger while out within and he has to decide what he is going to be to make sure that he protects her, even if means breaking both their hearts. However, she puts her foot down and told him he isn’t going to face this alone and she will do whatever she needs to do to stay with him. There are those funny, cute and serious moments this book keeps you turning the page to see what happens. I really enjoyed this book, and love that we can keep connecting with this family! This book has the second chance, return to hometown, slow burn office romance dialed in with a little bit of something to keep you on your toes!
I’m loving the entire Sterling Family series and this sixth book in the series brings us Aiden Sterling and Brooke Snyder’s story. Aiden is a journalist and has been traveling for the last several years so we haven’t seen too much of him in the previous books. But with their Dad’s most recent health scare and his brother’s wife just about to give birth, Aiden has returned home to help run the family business. Putting a crimp in his plans is the fact that Brooke Snyder, who for all intents and purposes, is a member of the Sterling family, will be working side by side with him and given their history, this should be interesting.
Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and this book has it all. The tension that is bubbling at the surface between these two, and there’s a good reason for this too. Paired with their undeniable chemistry that exploded between them several years ago, changing both of them, leads to some very interesting moments not only at work, but also very much at home… because Brooke and her Mom, who happens to be dating the elder Sterling, live in the carriage house behind the main house so they’re constantly exposed to each other.
Brooke refuses to get hurt again, and for good reason, but Aiden who’s finally realized that maybe they can have a future together will do whatever is necessary to get her to see that he’s regretted walking away all those years ago. I loved how she made him work for her forgiveness too. And when the damn bursts their sexy times are burning up the sheets!
There’s a suspense element to this book too, and I really didn’t know where Ms. Phillips was going to take it, and I never saw how it would all pan out either. When you pair the healing of hearts, witty banter, fired up chemistry and a love that’s always meant to be, this is a perfect read to make you smile and swoon just like I did!
Aiden and Brooke’s story is an angst-ridden, hot and complex second chance at love romance. It is a story of betrayal, regret, and reconnection. They were friends, then lovers before he left her and his family behind to travel the world as an investigative journalist. Though he broke Brooke’s heart, she refused to share her pain with the families who knew and loved them both. Now five years later, Aiden has returned home to help in the family business after his father’s recent health scare and his brother’s upcoming parental leave. He also hopes to redeem himself in Brooke’s eyes and hopefully reclaim her heart. But heartbreak and time has changed Brooke from the young, innocent and trusting woman he left behind into a cool, capable and confident woman who keeps him at a distance.
I loved the battle of wills between Brooke and Aiden when he first returns. She has learned to keep her emotions in check, to not give her heart freely and to not give into the attraction she still feels for Aiden. She finally gets the answers and apology she deserves, examines her own heart and what she wants, then allows Aiden back into her life with conditions. She still has trust issues and refuses to let him make decisions for her. She demands that they be true partners this time as they try to move forward. Aiden is stunned and appreciative of this new version of Brooke. He likes her confidence, her determination and her ambition. Yet, when his journalistic past brings danger to him and his family, Aiden is still keeping secrets and still ready to make decisions without her. He soon discovers that Brooke will have none of that nonsense.
The blend of romance and thrilling suspense makes this book an excellent read. I am happy to recommend it.
One night. One heartbreak. One man who never really left her heart. 🥀
Carly Phillips delivers another Sterling sibling romance that hits all the second-chance beats we crave. This man… whew. He broke Brooke’s heart years ago when he left after one perfect night, and now he’s back, older, guiltier, and ready to grovel his way back into her life. And honestly? He needed every bit of that grovel.
The tension between Aiden and Brooke crackles from page one. Working together at Sterling Investments, forced proximity when the plumbing conveniently goes out (move in to the room next to me, suuuuure), and all that delicious unresolved history simmering under the surface. Carly balances the angst with banter and family warmth, and I loved Brooke’s growth... this time, she isn’t afraid to stand her ground and demand the love she deserves. We love to see her make him work for it.
💔 Tropes we love: ✨ Second Chance Romance ✨ Former Best Friends ✨ Best Friend’s Older Brother ✨ He hurt her in the past, falls first in the present ✨ Forced Proximity ✨ Protective Alpha MMC
And let’s not forget the suspense built in because apparently when you’re Aiden Sterling, you don’t just bring back baggage, you bring danger from your overseas reporting gig. Those twists had me clutching my Kindle.
Brooke’s strength and Aiden’s journey to redemption made this second-chance romance a poignant, heartfelt, and swoony read.
Carly Phillips knows how to write the Sterling family in a way that keeps me invested, six books in and still hooked. Just One More Time reminded me why second-chance is one of my favorite tropes. It stings, it heals, it redeems.
Thank you to Carly Phillips and The Author Agency for the ARC. 💕
Five years ago Aiden and Brooke had one night together- then he left. He's traveled the world as a journalist while she stayed in NY to build a career in finance. But she never got over the heartbreak of what he did and the little dating she's done hasn't helped. He's never met anyone who measured up to Brooke, but she always made it clear she never wanted a relationship with him.
Now back in NY for good, Aiden has plan- and Brooke is a big part of them. They might have been too young the first time around, but can they get it right the second time?
This second-chance romance was a really sweet one. Brooke had a crush on Aiden for years before their night together, so him leaving really broke her heart. He handled things completely wrong at the time and didn't think about the consequences when he made decisions for both of them. The conversations they finally have are painful but necessary, and lay the groundwork for a potential real relationship. I like how they aren't relying on chemistry to get them through all of their problems, but talking out what went wrong and acknowledging they both might have done better- and should do better in the future. The danger Aiden brought back from his last job was a bit sidelined for a lot of the story, but it worked at the end.
Aiden and Brooke are great together, but are also a great example of how a real relationship takes lots of work on both sides. This is a second-chance romance that's been building since the beginning of the series, and it was nice to finally have their story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Just One More Time is the sixth book int The Sterling Family series. This story is Aiden's story. It is a well-written and engaging second chance romance.
Aiden has worked as a traveling journalist and has been away from his family for some time now. He has come back home to help his family run their family company, in particularly to help his brother who has a baby on the way. He hated the way he left things with Brooke when he left so he is hoping to be able to earn her trust back.
Brooke is the daughter of Aiden's dad's girlfriend. She has been around Aiden's family all her life and his sister Fallon's best friend. Several years ago she was heartbroken when Aiden left but never told anyone about their history together. With Aiden back home she now has to work with him since she also works at the Sterling family's company. Aiden makes it clear he still cares about her but she is not so trusting. She still has not gotten over how bad he hurt her when he left. He has his work cut out for him in order to make Brooke his.
Brooke decides to move on and try to get over Aiden once and for all. When Fallon and her husband set her up on a blind date, Aiden is so jealous he can't stand it. Brooke enjoys the man's company but she realizes it is harder to get over Aiden that she suspected.
I loved how Aiden didn't give up on Brooke and their relationship. I enjoyed seeing the Sterling family and cameos of previously read characters. They have a very close knit family who is there for each other. I highly recommend this story.
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy for an honest review.
Years ago Brooke Snyder gave every part of herself to Aiden Sterling, then he just walked away. Years since she has tried to move on from that memorable night, dated others, but no one has ever has ever measured up, it's as if he's the only one her heart wants. But sadly cannot have...or can it?
Just One More Time is a beautifully written story of lost love, wounded hearts, healing, second chances, and rediscovery. When Brooke learns that Aiden is back in town her heart stutters a little, the last time they were around one another she thought they were on the cusp of something beautiful, but he walked away and her heart hasn't forgiven him for that either. Now they find themselves living under one roof with only a bedroom wall separating them... it's pure torture for them both. She knows they still have chemistry, could easily fall for one another again, but can her heart handle a second round with him?
As always Ms. Phillips has penned a heartfelt and steamy read that captures the heart and attention from the very first page and holds it tightly until the last. Nobody does romance quite like her, her stories just hit different, there the kind of stories that leave, a mark that's not easily wiped away. If you like your romances on the emotional side then I have no doubt you will love this one, these two have quite the heartfelt story to tell! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

At the party, Aiden tells his family that he is taking a job as a traveling reporter and will be leaving immediately. Just One More Time (The Sterling Family Book 6) by Carly Phillips is a workplace romance focused on second chances, with drama and electrifying sparks that flare into flames throughout the story, culminating in a happily-ever-after ending.
Brooklyn Snyder gave Aiden Sterling her heart and her virginity five years ago. When Aiden suddenly left to be an investigative reporter Brooke was crushed. She tried to get over Aiden but after the best night of her life it was still hard.
Now Brooke is the Chief Operating Officer at Sterling Investments, the company Aiden's father, Alex owns. Due to health problems, Alex had to reduce his hours at the office so Aiden has agreed to come back home to help out the rest of the family run the business. This of course has Brooke panicking. Can she handle being close to him again? ;)
Brooke and her mom Lizzie live in the gatehouse at the Sterling Estate. When the plumbing in the gatehouse has problems, Brooke and her mom are forced to stay in the main house. Since Lizzie was dating Alex that was no problem but Brooke wasn't sure how she would handle being in the same house as Aiden. Of course being close together more often the chemistry started to heat up again until things exploded.
Just when it looked like Aiden and Brooke were going to get their happy ending, the past comes crashing in throwing a wrench in their lives. After everything is finally resolved, Aiden and Brooke will finally have their happy ever after.
I just adored this forced proximity, second chance, best friend's brother love story. It was fun how Brooke and Aiden both never really let go of the other all along. In the end they were right where they both belonged....together. Another awesome book from this fun series.
A light-hearted read to pass the time, we enjoyed Brooke and Aiden's story of second chances. The cast of characters was lovable.
Aiden, a traveling journalist tired of his nomadic lifestyle, returns home to his family, only to be faced with complications and danger. To add to his troubles, he must confront the woman whose heart he once broke.
Brooke has moved on with her life, but the pain of her past heartbreak lingers. Aiden, her former love, reappears, reopening old wounds. Can she find it in her heart to forgive and move on? Brooke and Aiden have unresolved issues from their past, but now they have the chance to clear the air and start anew. However, with lingering regrets and emotions, moving forward may not be so simple.
This story offers a mix of suspense, emotion, family dynamics, friendships, romance, and themes of forgiveness.
We witness growth in both Brooke and Aiden as they open up to each other. Their chemistry is fiery and playful, making them a captivating couple.
Brooke shows her strength and independence, while Aiden stands by his words and faces the consequences of his actions. Their interactions are engaging and commendable.
Overall, this book is an enjoyable read that evokes smiles and chuckles. The Sterling family's growing adds depth to the story, and the element of suspense keeps the plot engaging. The characters' journey towards reconciliation is heartfelt and realistic, reminding us that danger can strike at any moment.
I am voluntarily writing this honest review after reading a free ARC of this novel via Wildfire Marketing Solutions. JUST ONE MORE TIME is the sixth book in THE STERLING FAMILY series by Carly Phillips. This is a second chance romance for Aiden Sterling and Brooke Snyder, who grew up together as almost family and became best friends to lovers in college. But the night after Brooke gave her innocence to Aiden, he announced to his entire family that he had taken a travel journalism job and broke her heart. They had avoided each other at family gatherings for years. Aiden was back in town to stay and they were working together at his family’s investment firm as well as neighbors. He was determined to win back the woman he never forgot. The forced proximity, his charm and dedication, and her residual feelings made him impossible to resist. This was an easy to read, swoony, contemporary romance with a touch of romantic suspense. It is a spicy, open door, third person, dual POV novel with tropes including, best friend’s brother, forced proximity, second chance, Frenenemies to lovers, alphahero, and billionaire. I enjoyed the suspense aspect of the book. Brooke and Aiden worked well as a couple when Aiden wasn’t being too alpha protector. I did think that the book’s resolution happened too fast and too easily, given the buildup. But overall this was an enjoyable read, which I would recommend for readers who enjoy spicy billionaire romance with a touch of romantic suspense.
