This book is old enough ('97) that it's not even promoted on the author's website. I've read their Don't Waste Your Time guides for the Rockies, West Kootenays, and North Cascades and I've become less of a fan over time. It was a good way to get into hiking guides when I was young, as it was nice to rank hikes on a to-do list. They aren't the only ones to rate hikes nowadays thankfully (although still the only book with ratings around Vancouver), but I find their attempts at being armchair poetics is silly and wasteful of space that could be used giving real information. Still, while I don't always agree with their ratings, it's a decent book to glance at if you're new to the area. If you're into scrambling, Matt Gunn's Scrambles in Southwest BC has ratings too, is much newer, plus has better info and pictures. Or you could go with the standard 103 Hikes that everyone has.
This is a great hiking book. Cathy and Craig do a great job categorizing the hikes. We wore out our first copy and are hiking our way through the second copy.
