The seventh book in this witchy series but unfortunately I seem to be reading them out of order. Never mind - I am enjoying them anyway.
Josie Way is a librarian and a witch. Usually this is a good thing as the books talk to her, but suddenly it appears her magic is leaving her. The books go silent and she senses bad things about to happen. More than this, there seems to be a major misunderstanding going on between her and boyfriend Sam who is the local sheriff.
I really enjoy the witchyness and the humor of this series. It is nicely written and the characters are well done. Rodney the cat is just gorgeous! Now I just need to catch up on Witch and Famous, Gone with the Witch and The Witch Is Back. Points to the author for the brilliant titles!!!

DNF !! I quit reading ,I think it was 140. I read the last chapter. It just was silly. How many times can a librarian be arrested? I’m not sure if I’ll continue with this series. It’s so sad. It’s just lovely. I gave it two stars because I love the library itself and all the characters, especially Rodney the cat 🐈⬛

I was in need of something cute and cozy, and this didn't disappoint. It was my first book from the series, but easy to jump right into without having read the others. Although after reading it, this is definitely a series I see myself returning to in the future.
Some parts seemed to drag just a little, with certain side plots just feeling a bit lackluster compared to everything else, but nothing that made the story overall any less enjoyable. It nailed the cozy aspect while still having a gripping mystery and exciting fantastical elements.

This was such a fun cozy witch mystery! Even though it’s book seven in the series, this was my first time jumping in and I had no trouble keeping up, which I really appreciated. I went in expecting to feel lost, but I actually slipped right into the world easily and enjoyed the characters a lot.
Josie is a librarian and a witch which is basically a dream character setup for me and I loved the magical touches throughout. There’s a mysterious aunt causing chaos, some book-related trouble, and Josie ends up trying to protect herself while unraveling the mess, both magical and emotional. There’s also a murder investigation threaded in, though the story focuses more on the witchy mystery and Josie’s personal challenges here.
I especially enjoyed the humor and those classic cozy elements that make you feel right at home in the small town. Even without the background from the previous books, I immediately liked the dynamics between the characters and will definitely consider going back to read the others.
If you love cozy mysteries with a magical twist, small-town charm, and a librarian witch at the center of the chaos, this is a great entry point even mid-series. I’m glad I gave it a shot!

I really liked this series in the beginning, but gradually over time I've come to feel like the books have lost some of their originality and magic for me. I'm still interested in seeing what happens to the main characters, and I love the town and the library, but the plots have started to get a little more convoluted and the twists a little more frenetic with each book lately and I'm not living this directional shift. That came to a head with this one for me.
It started very promising, and felt like the earlier books in the series with a nice slow build up that was intriguing. Then plot point after plot point and character after character became involved and things started to get confusing in ways that felt, to me, unnecessarily complicated. Imagine my surprise then when I got to the big confrontation at the end - only to find everything wrapped up tidily with a bow in about four pages...
I nearly got whiplash.
The ending felt like an editor somewhere yelled "okay pencils down" and she had to furiously scramble and write a closing in 7 seconds. There was literally a deus ex machina, plus several other loose-end-tying plot contrivances that I can't name without risking spoilers. It was disappointing to say the least. I'm still interested enough in the main characters to give this series another try, but I'm really hoping Sanders finds her way back to the type of storytelling she began the series with, or my next foray might be my last.

"Witch and Tell (Witch Way Librarian Mysteries #7)" by Angela M. Sanders has Librarian, Josie Way, feeling all kinds of frustration. Her boyfriend has ghosted her after her revealing that she's a witch. Then her mysterious aunt she's never met might be hanging around plotting to steal her magic. Oh, and she's being framed for murder while some cat hating newcomer is trying to ban any book with cats in it from the library.
The story, for this book, focuses most on the mysterious aunt. Josie spends a majority of the book trying to find her, protect herself and then fix a problem she helped to create involving the mysterious aunt. It does tie in a bit to what all is going on with Josie. However, the murder mystery part feels a bit rushed and not much of a final reveal/motive breakdown by the culprit. I am glad the book banner doesn't get to carry over to further books though. That was getting me all worked up every time it came up in the story.
Yes, this book touches on the craziness that is book banning that's going on in the real world. Relating the books that people want banned in the real world to some pretty funny ones in the book that makes a good point on the subject. I'm obviously a pro freedom of information. It's not the public's job to police your children when it comes to something like reading. Be an involved parent and maybe do some more reading yourself if you have problems with books. Reading more leads to a better and empathetic understanding of the world. You may not agree with the viewpoint of the book but you get an insight into that perspective you may not have had before.

I don’t know what happened to this series, but Josie has gotten annoying, consistently does the TSTL things, and seems overly whiny in this one. And how many times can she be arrested?!!! And the parody of book banning, while humorous, seemed misplaced in this book; it felt like filler. The pacing was off and my mind wandered through most of this. This was not my favorite.

And that’s just the beginning of a mystery that features Josie as the prime suspect, several shady characters, and possible long-lost relatives. Josie will need not only her own powers but what wisdom she can divine from the letters her grandmother left her, if she has any hopes of solving the case and staying out of jail.
I love this series, and this was one of my favorite books in the series. It introduced a few new characters, including some family members on the witch side of the tree, so to speak. I thought I had the mystery completely figured out, but I was wrong. It did keep me guessing until the end. Even though this is part of a series, you could potentially read each one as a standalone, since the author does a good job reminding you who everyone is. If you love cozy wich mysteries, you should definitely check it out.

Since book two, I’ve found myself in this strange loop, questioning why I keep returning to this series, only to think maybe this time will be better. Spoiler: it wasn’t.
Josie’s choices, especially in this installment, had me pulling my hair out. There’s ignoring your grandmothers’ magical warnings, and then there’s sprinting headlong into the one thing they literally spell out NOT to do. Josie, why? The second half turns into Josie cajoling every side character to help fix a situation she single-handedly sabotaged. Magical responsibility? Apparently not on the syllabus in Wilfred.
Sam's bizarre habit of smiling through rage and chuckling at heartbreak? Still baffles me after multiple books in the Josie Way cozy series. I can't picture it without cringing—it's emotional whiplash that pulls me out of the story every time.
And, despite the murder mystery trappings, most of the suspense fizzled thanks to Josie’s impulsiveness. Sure, there are a few quirky small-town moments, but ultimately, Josie’s poor decisions (and the reliance on magic to course-correct everything) had me frustrated rather than invested.
Would I recommend it?
If you’ve been following the series, this might feel like another predictable round of magical mishaps. I finished it, but mostly out of stubborn loyalty to see if Josie would finally grow. She didn’t. So, unless you’re already deep into the Wilfred world and need closure, maybe skip this one.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC! I always enjoy coming back to the Pacific Northwest and reading about magical librarian Josie's adventures with her cat Rodney and the quirky side characters in town. This book was a bit darker than previous entries, in part because we get some resolution to continuing troubles (Josie's magic waning, mysterious crows!). The ending was a bit anticlimatic and left me with a few questions, but I hope to read many more entries in this engaging cozy series.

Josie Way loves her life in Wilfred, Oregon, and her job as its librarian, or she did until she discovered a very unpleasant relative and strange things began to happen. A practicing witch, who gets her powers from the thousands of books she is custodian of, her partner, local sheriff Sam Wilfred, has been silent since she shared her secret, her best friend’s boyfriend has vanished, and a newcomer to the area is stirring up trouble with the library’s patrons and threatening to have some of the children's books banned! Most worrying, however, is the loss of her magic! Now patchy at best, she feels alone and adrift in the non magical world she thought she’d left behind. Her only hope is to find and confront her previously unknown great aunt who, hiding behind her own magical abilities, has the ultimate revenge in her sights.

When a favourite series has been building to a crescendo, it can be a bit of a letdown. Not this time! I loved it, read it in two sittings, and have hopes the series will continue. I picked this one up mid series and was happy to discover it can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed the mystery but some things were a bit over the top for me. I liked how the FMC was a librarian, and a witch. I would have loved to have seen more paranormal elements in this book. The FMC did a lot of things that I found frustrating. Also, I found that the ending was tied up rather quickly. The narrator, Rebecca Mitchell did a good job portraying Josie and several of the other characters. Honestly, if it wasn't for the narrator I'm not sure if I would have finished the book. Rebecca's performance kept me engaged even when the story's pacing slowed down.
I think anyone that enjoys a cozy mystery read, with cats, would love this one.

Witch and Tell was a fun and cozy read, perfect for the spooky season. I really loved the witchy atmosphere and the charming library setting—it created the exact vibes I look for in a magical mystery. The concept was engaging and the world had a lot of potential.
However, the story didn’t completely capture my full attention at times, and I found myself drifting in certain parts. Despite that, it was still an enjoyable read overall and a nice seasonal pick if you’re in the mood for light witchy mystery with cozy charm

⭐️ One weak element to the plot ( don’t want to spoil it). This side quest element wasn’t needed.
I do recommend this book.

Witch and Tell (Witch Way Librarian Mysteries, #7) by Angela M. Sanders opens with librarian Josie Way's magic being on the fritz. Josie is also in a bit of a funk since her boyfriend, Sam, ghosted her after she told him she's a witch. To top things off, Josie wakes up in the middle of the night to find a body in the atrium of the library, only to have it disappear again after calling the cops. Why is there such bad energy surrounding the town of Wilfred, and why do bad things keep happening?
First and foremost, a big thank you goes out to NetGalley for approving my request for an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) of this novel. I was thrilled to receive a digital copy for free in exchange for my honest review. Receiving an ARC always brightens my day!
To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect in this latest edition of the Witch Way Librarian Mysteries series, but I wasn't let down in the least. Angela M. Sanders did a great job with providing plenty of twists and turns that kept me engaged throughout the entire story. At one point, it was reminiscent of The Time of the Witch by Mary Downing Hahn, which I read as a child. I'd be interested to see if anyone else got those vibes during one of the scenes.
There were a couple of people who I suspected of being the culprit, and at one point, I thought both of those characters I suspected were in cahoots. Unfortunately for me, I was off base on that part of my guess, but with that being said, I did figure out why one of the characters looked like Josie relatively early on and look forward to how that character will be incorporated into later books in the series.
All in all, I fell in love with Witch and Tell (Witch Way Librarian Mysteries, #7) by Angela M. Sanders, and I am impatiently waiting for the next installment. Five out of five stars is what I rated this book.

Can Josie get her powers back? What about the dead body that appeared in the library’s atrium and disappeared?
Josie Way
Josie is worried that Sam doesn't want to date her because she told him she is a witch, and to make things worse, he's gone, so she can't ask him. She doesn't want to lose him, but knows that if he doesn't want to be with her, then she will let him go. Josie is dealing with a lot in this installment. Not only is Sam not talking to her, but her powers are fading. That leaves her feeling like she did before she came to Oregon from Washington, DC. The main thing I like about Josie is that she is strong and will figure out how to stop it, even if the culprit doesn't think she can.
The Mysteries
Josie has been feeling her powers being blocked, like her grandma did when she was little, but she doesn't know who is doing it. My rating for Witch and Tell by Angela M. Sanders is five stars. I do recommend this series—it is so good. Ms. Sanders has created an incredible cast of characters that I enjoy revisiting and reading whenever a new installment comes out. Josie and Sam are such a cute couple, and I can't wait to see what else happens for everyone in Wilford, Oregon.

Josie is worried that Sam doesn't want to date her because she told him she is a witch, and to make things worse, he's gone, so she can't ask him. She doesn't want to lose him, but knows that if he doesn't want to be with her, then she will let him go. Josie is dealing with a lot in this installment. Not only is Sam not talking to her, but her powers are fading. That leaves her feeling like she did before she came to Oregon from Washington, DC. The main thing I like about Josie is that she is strong and will figure out how to stop it, even if the culprit doesn't think she can.
The Mysteries
Josie has been feeling her powers being blocked, like her grandma did when she was little, but she doesn't know who is doing it. Well. I finished the series.
Let me start by saying that this series has been cozy and enjoyable, as a whole. I absolutely love the setting - Wilfred is so clearly mapped out and described, I wish I could actually visit. I love the Library so much! I love the townsfolk and the found family aspect. This book series could have easily been a fun series on Hallmark much like "The Good Witch." EXCEPT, starting in Book 5 it all starts to fall apart. So many opprtunities are missed to flesh out the plot. Too many coincidences happen. Too much of Sam being a one-dimensional prop. Just a few too many suspensions of disbelief and unlikely decisions made by characters.The characters were, for most of the series, fleshed out and fun and interesting without being overwritten and forced "quirky", if you get what I mean. Except Sam. He continued to be one-dimensional and is basically a plot device. Josie's affection for him continues to be very stilted. Sam never has character development.
For all the reasons I had issues with Book 5 and 6, Book 7 was the worst of all. It had the potential to be so awesome. The best part of the book was the big reveal and confrontation with Aunt Beata. Lise's character, however, cried out for more dimension. And Wanda, and the cat censorship for the library? Josie's dyed hair, goofy glasses disguise?? It just pushed too far. I couldn't suspend my disbelief any longer. How is Wanda eye-bulgingly angry about cats? And how is anyone taking her seriously? I know its a metaphor for book censorship, but its a silly and poorly executed one. Wanda's storyline was utterly nonsensical and unneeded, except to place her in the library at the end. I still love Wilfred and all its residents. I think Josie's story overall is fun and the twist of her grandmother's lessons intriguing. But I am so sad that the author seems to be running out of steam - or perhaps has totally run out of steam - on this idea. Its such a cool premise. The end of Book 7 seems to set up for an eventual Book 8. Will I read a Book 8 if it comes out? Probably. But I hope the story finds its way back to the way Books 1-3 were written. I enjoyed them the most.

Witch and Tell is the seventh title in the Witch Way Librarian Mysteries series… and while I’ve read several books in this series, I definitely need to get caught up, especially since there was a feeling of everything wrapping up in this particular adventure of Josie, Rodney the cat, Sam the sheriff, and the other quirky characters in this small town. I’ve learned to never say the end, but it did feel that way to me. Time will tell.
When you put together the words librarian and books, well, you had my attention at the library! Although now Josie seems to be losing that magical touch she has received from books, mainly since the misunderstanding with Sam. Maybe she shouldn’t have told him that she’s a witch. Yet there shouldn’t be lies in a relationship. But she needs Sam more than ever now, since there’s been another murder… or has there? Confusion and chaos give way to logic and investigation as Josie and crew set out to prove her innocence and someone else’s treachery.
I enjoyed being back in this world, and Witch and Tell by Angela M. Sanders delivered everything I look for in a Paranormal Cozy Mystery story. There are enough red herrings, twists, and turns to keep me on my toes while enjoying the antics of so many characters, especially Rodney. It’s well-written, engaging, and full of surprises. If you love a good cozy mystery, then you’d love this one.

Hallmark meets murder mystery is exactly the vibe this cozy read delivers. In this latest Josie Way installment, librarian Josie’s life is spinning a little out of control—her magic isn’t working quite right, her relationship with Sheriff Sam has cooled, and to top it off, she stumbles upon a body in the library atrium that disappears before anyone else can see it. Suddenly, Josie finds herself tangled in a mystery full of secrets, shady characters, and a few family surprises.
This was my first book in the series, and while I could tell there’s a lot of history between the characters, it wasn’t hard to follow along. Some references to past events went over my head, but it didn’t make the story confusing—just made me curious to go back and start from the beginning.
I really enjoyed the cozy, magical atmosphere. Josie’s connection to her enchanted books and her unusual way of working magic were such fun twists that made the story stand out. The small-town charm and hints of fantasy worked perfectly together.
That said, the pacing dragged a bit in parts, and a few side plots didn’t feel as strong as the central mystery. Still, it was a comforting, lighthearted read—ideal for when you want something with both warmth and a touch of suspense.
Overall, a charming mix of magic, mystery, and coziness, even if it loses a little momentum along the way. I’d definitely pick up the next in the series to see where Josie’s story goes next.

So I was fortunate to receive this as an advanced copy, and I hadn't realized it was the 7th book in the series. I decided, to give the book the fairest chance, to read the first one to orient myself into the series. I've read plenty of cozy mysteries, and while you don't need to read the previous books to understand and appreciate this one, I find this particular series does definitely build on past stories and it is worth reading. I absolutely devoured the entire prior 6 books, and adored this series.
Josie is a librarian living in a small town in Oregon. The town, Wilfred, was a dying town that is slowly reviving. Josie is also a particularly powerful witch in a line of witches. As she settles into her small town life with her dream job, she also encounters tragedies and mysteries. This is the premise of the entire series. This particular installment of Josie and her friends is especially riveting and dramatic. Most of the mysteries are about murders that happen around her, but this one directly involves Josie. The stakes are higher, and the magic more interesting. Like I said, I don't think that you NEED to read the earlier books, but I definitely think you should, for context and depth of flavor. I very much enjoyed this story, and am excited to continue the series further and stay with these wonderful characters.

This is easily one of my favourite series, it adds just the right of amount of magic to cozy mysteries. Think Practical Magic meets Murder She Wrote. Books speak to Josie, which is ideal since she’s a librarian who lives in an apartment in her small towns library. They help her solve murder mysteries. When both her & her bff’s boyfriends go AWOL & she also discovers a body in the atrium, she has to put her sleuthing cap on. Especially when she’s the lead suspect.
Sanders weaves such a wonderful story, it’s very accessible & adds the magic in very plausibly. There’s also a very strong supporting cast of eccentric, memorable characters. One of the best aspects is that Josie has a box full of letters, left by her decreased grandmother, to guide her with her magic. She pulls the right letter at the right time. This time it’s very serious & goes into family the history, which was very enjoyable. I’d say that that history mixed in with the murder & what’s going on in Josie’s personal life, makes this book the most serious & one of the best in the series. There’s also an insanely funny plot line involving cats, that I think takes on banning books/freedom of speech, with the right amount of humour.
I can’t wait for more books!

“Witch and Tell” is the seventh (and apparently last) book in Angela Sanders Witch Way Librarian Mystery Series. It may be the last book but fans will be happy to know there is a spin-off series and this book, among other things, serves as an introduction to the main character in the new series. Besides paving the way for the new series, this book does a good job of wrapping up several storylines. The premise of the book is that librarian Josie Way is a witch (I love the way she uses books with her powers – if I were a witch that’s the kind of witch I would like to be!) and while she is still new to her powers she is fighting a formidable foe who is trying to strip her of those powers. There is also her romance with Sam the Sheriff who seemingly disappears from her life once she tells him she’s a witch. Oh and there’s also a murder in which Josie is the chief suspect. All of this can be pretty intense but there is also an underlying sense of humor throughout the book including two children who like to hit people up for money by “helping” them and a would-be book banner. While the book isn’t perfect – the murder seems to be almost an afterthought and the book drags at time – it is a fitting way to end the series. I hope Josie and company appear in the spin-off series!

Things are not going well for Josie. She was honest with her beau Sam and told him she was a witch. That was the last she heard from him. She is being plagued by a newcomer to Wilfred who has a real hatred for kitties, including her beloved Rodney. The boyfriend of one of her friends has vanished without a trace and Josie’s magic seems to be dissipating. She is hardly hearing the books anymore and she wonders which, if any, of the newcomers to town, might be the evil witch of whom her grandmother warned who just happens to be her Great Aunt. It seems it is a maelstrom of trouble and Josie does not know if she has either the strength nor the ability to stop it.
When a burned body is found at a site where Josie was seen, it becomes clear that her aunt Beata wants to destroy Josie and has set up the perfect frame. When it seems everything has turned against her with the exception of loyal Rodney, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The problem is she is not certain if it a freight train barrelling down on her. Things do sort out after some treacherous moments and amongst the resolutions are some interesting possibilities. We shall just have to keep reading to find out. Four purrs and two paws up.

When I sat down with this one I only planned on reading a chapter or two before bed and wound up staying up until the wee hours of the morning to finish it... it was SO good! This was my first visit to the series and I am dying to get back to it and read the rest of the titles I have missed out on!

I really enjoyed this book! Even though I haven’t read the earlier installments, I could tell there’s a lot of backstory and character relationships I was missing. It wasn’t confusing, but I did feel a bit out of the loop when it came to the connections between Josie and some of the townspeople. I definitely plan to go back and catch up on the earlier books.
What I loved most was the magic. Josie’s unique way of powering her abilities was such a fun and fresh twist, and it kept me hooked throughout the story.

Witch and Tell is the 7th book of the Witch Way librarian mystery series. It follows a librarian in small town Oregon named Josie Way as she navigates her life in town and her new found powers as a witch. Josie channels her powers through books, but lately her magic has been muted or even non-existant. She believes someone is targeting her and it may be her long lost Aunt. On top of that her boyfriend Sam has been ghosting her ever since she confided in him about her magic. Feeling very alone, she has to relay on her Grandmother's grimoire and letters to guide her through this difficult time. On top of are her personal problems the boyfriend of one of her best friends has also gone missing and she enlists Josie's help to find him. The main mystery centers around his disappearance and a body that is discovered.
This installment of the series focused more on Josie and her magical background than some others, so I feel it would be best appreciated by someone who has read the other books in the series. A fantastic paranormal cozy mystery series. I love visiting Josie's library and spending time in this world.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Phew this book took me through the ringer of emotions and I could not be happier. A lot happened leading up to the book; most notably that . Wellll the results in this book - the author does an AMAZING job. No spoilers, but I just love the way she sets everything up and weaves everything together. This book had me super stressed because there is a lot of cozy-dark things going on, and I felt for Josie SO much. She really has so much on her plate and the way she is always there for a friend, no matter her personal situation, makes me love her even more. I loved seeing more of the kids in this book; they crack me up with all their cash schemes. I also love how this book examines and tackles book banning in such an interesting way that shows the harms and how ridiculous it can be. And the mystery; phew it kept me on my toes and guessing - I was shocked by all the twists. The ending was FABULOUS 10/10 so good.
I cannot WAIT for more!!!

This was definitely better than the last few have been, at least things happened and the mystery was relatively interesting.
We finally got the answer of the ravens and the building threat. Though, if this isn’t the last book I’d be surprised, because after so much build up the problem resolved itself very quickly after so much lead up. I didn’t like that the answer to who it was, was in her grandma’s letter the whole time (and that she then disregarded the warnings which in turn made it a problem). A new character came out of nowhere and randomly saved the day.
This book further solidified how immature Sam and Josie’s relationship is. Okay fine texts and calls were blocked but if you had a face to face conversation it would have been resolved immediately. Grow up!
I wish we saw more with the magic and that she actually used magic a bit more.
