A magnificently photographic tour of European monastic/canonical cloisters. The introductory essay outlines the place of the cloister in monastic, canonical, and mendicant orders. A in-depth artistic and architectural tour then occupies the major space of this work. Like the Divine Office itself, you find yourself flipping from the text section to the photographic sections of the book, but it is worth the effort.

A welcome addition to your Medieval or Monastic collections.
