Detavio Decebal was never meant to be good. He was raised in the shadows of a man who believed kindness was weakness, which later made him feel like love was nothing more than a leash meant to be snapped. He was raised by force and taught only to survive. By the time he became an adult, he taught himself how to dominate those around him. Until he met Angel. A woman he was set out to ruin and break since she was a threat to the Decebal name.
Born in ruin, rejected the moment he took his first breath, Monster doesn’t feel. He devours and destroys anything that serves as a threat to the control that he had to fight for. He never had a childhood, only lessons. He learned that pain was currency and fear was law. To Monster, the world belonged to those who were ruthless enough to take it. Monster took any and everything as a man. Until Natavi walked back into his world without knowing she just became his next lesson.
Dark, twisted, and filthy! The DECEBAL name is more than power…it’s pure filth that spread amongst three brothers like a disease by the hands of their father, Impurity Decebal. The city of Arkville was built off of cruelty that twisted the Decebal men into creatures carved in darkness.
Love was never a part of the Decebal men’s design. None of them know how to give it—only how to consume…
“The Filth Kings” is a dark obsessive romance, where love isn’t pure… it’s a filthy possession.
2/5 - I’m actually speechless! Wow! I was not expecting it to be this dark! This is probably the spiciest book I’ve literally ever read. I feel like I jumped into the deep end of dark romance! - I really wanted to love this one, but I didn’t really care about any of the characters other than Monster and Natavi. I loved their relationship and needed more of it! Anytime we were in a different pov I was itching to get back to the other characters! - I’m new to reading dark romance and this book wasn’t for me, but will definitely be for someone else!
Was it steamy? Sure. But in my opinion, that’s really all it had going for it. The story lacked depth and nuance, and I wasn’t comfortable with how it framed homosexuality, as if it were a disease or an inherent evil. The idea that the father was abusive, violent, and even murderous *because* he was bisexual felt like an oversimplified and harmful narrative.
The dynamic between the two FMCs felt underdeveloped were they truly friends, or was their relationship just convenient? There were a lot of plot elements introduced that never felt fully explored or resolved. Angel was incredibly judgmental, yet she wasn’t any better than Natavi one was a sex worker, and the other was a blogger actively seeking the attention of an alleged psychopath. Their choices were equally questionable, yet Angel’s superiority complex made it hard to sympathize with her.
The reunion between the brothers fell flat it lacked buildup and emotional weight, making what should have been a pivotal moment feel anticlimactic. The entire story felt like a roller coaster that slowly climbs but never actually drops; there was no real payoff. Adding a random POV from the "other side of hell" about a potential enemy at the very end felt unnecessary it didn’t add intrigue because there were no breadcrumbs leading up to it.
There were also some editing issues, but beyond that, I need a story to take me somewhere to teach me something, make me feel something, or at least give me a reason to reflect or connect. Unfortunately, this one didn’t do any of that for me. Instead, it left me frustrated. I also think the category it’s placed in did it a disservice, on Amazon it’s apart of the Black &AA mystery thriller suspense and urban fiction when it’s really more Erotica than anything.
I've read 2 books by this author and they both were not good but they were short erotica type novels so I was able to suffer through them.
Matherpiece is a bad writer. Plain and simple. She doesn't know how to properly craft a story or craft sentences. There is no real descriptive writing that immerses you in the scene. The dialogue is off. There are errors in the writing.
Let's be honest... when reading erotica, writing isn't top priority. So reading a short erotic novel, the main point is the sex scenes.
I will give her that. Her sex scenes are pretty good. They are original and not repeating. So for the short stuff, this carries.
Her attempting a full length novel.... this was torture. At 41%, I still didn't know anything about the characters really. One moment she writes them as if they are all F'd up and then the next, she is calling one FMC who is a call girl....bougie. She tried to set up the characterization for the MMCs as if they are so messed up but powerful... have no morals. But they fall for strangers immediately.
It just doesn't connect. I read some of the reviews and if the reason for all this was because the dad was gay and didn't want to accept it.... that is the flattest storyline ever. There are so many better ways that could have displayed this outcome that would have made more sense.
Like I said, this book was bad. The sex was good but the storyline and writing is just terrible.
I could literally go on but I won't. You get my drift.
I really wanted to love this one. I don’t think the writing style is for me but I was hoping the story would make up for that…..it did in a way but not enough. I wish this was only about Monster/Natavi because they were giving me Dark Romance, unfortunately the romance was missing from the rest of the book. I didn’t connect with Angel/Detavio, to be frank I don’t care about them at all.
The Octavio/Octavia storyline was interesting but idk how I really feel about it and I can’t say I got enough to really form a full opinion. I know there’s a second book coming focused on them so I might check it out.
JUST Damn!! I knew that it was gone be good...but Damn!!! This was just freaking fantastic....literally phenomenal. Like DAMN👏🏾 😍
Masterpiece when I say sis you freaking out did yourself with this one. I literally, cannot believe this. I am just so flabergastered...I don't evern know how to explain what I read...but girls, cousins, friends, fellow readers if you do nothing else with your day, you need to read this Damn book, cause the only words that I have for it is Damn. I might me the problem, things I should have been like hell no, I was def like you know I get it...I love a good Dark Romance and I think for the rest of my life this is going to be the dark romance that I recommend. Now I def loved the shit out of this book and I will literally fight a b*tch if they speak negatively of it. If Dark romance ain't your thing cool but don't come over to this here internet and speak ill of this book, cause I will not have it. P.S not to mention the bomb dropped in chapter 32...cause I def did not see that shit happen. The secrets and lies....i can't, I don't know what I liked better. At this point I would be at these mens mercy by freaking choice....😳. When I tell you this book will leave you hot and bothered, do not, I mean do not read in public cause it is a private experience. Girl when book 2 drop whenever i'm going to be ready!!
Honey Boo Boo Chil’… Somebody send help because I AM the problem!
Let’s talk The Filthy Kings by Masterpiece. Whew. From the first chapter to the last page—just straight chaos, carnage, and chemistry. Baby, I’m already plotting on book two because… SON?! What was that?! It was crazy, scary, hilarious, nasty, and had me locked in the whole time.
Angel found out real quick that minding your business could’ve saved her, but nope—she crossed paths with a Detavio and her whole world got flipped. That man entered her life like a storm, and left her wondering what day it was. Absolutely unhinged.
Now let’s talk about my boo Natavi. She wasn’t even the target but got dragged in regardless. Collateral damage? Maybe. But Monster? He stepped all the way up. He was wild, possessive, and exactly what she didn’t know she needed. And don’t get me started on how they balanced each other—chaos and calm, pain and passion. It was giving everything.
The Decebal men? Chile. Unhinged, broken, fine, dangerous, and toxic in ways that had me questioning my morals. Their parents might’ve ruined them, but Angel and Natavi brought fire, healing, and a whole lotta smoke.
This book right here is what a dark romance is supposed to feel like. It had me clenching my pearls and reading like I was hiding state secrets. The filthy was filthin’. The drama was dramatic-ing. This the kind of book you don’t even post under your real name—just know it’s THAT good.
I don't really know how to rate this because I wasn't really sure what I was expecting from this book, honestly. It kept me intrigued. Some parts I laughed, some I cried, and some I just flat out rolled my eyes. I guess this is one of those books that's like 90% smut and 10% plot because that's what it gave. The only thing that drove me insane was the war she was having between "your" and "you're" ... other than that, it was an okay read
What a deliciously filthy book. This book was everything . It has kidnapping, family secrets two FMC and two MMC. This is a dark romance that pulls you in from the beginning. The betrayals are real and they have real consequences too. Great read. Spice 5/5. Drama 5/5 if you enjoyed Demons Dream this is a great read as well.
Let me start this by saying I love a good Dark Romance the majority of the stuff I read is only dark romance so needless to say I’m surprised that this is considered a dark romance. This was by far one of the tamest book I’ve ever read. It makes me question what I’m reading, because I must just be reading stuff straight from the pit of Hell written by Satan if this is supposed to be dark.
While I do like to read for the vibes, sometimes when the grammar is bad or sporadically all over the place, I’m no longer reading for the vibes; I’m reading for the grammar and I’m judging it. At that point the vibes have left the room. It’s very concerning to me when basic words like your vs you’re, wound vs winded, and childhood (which is one word but is written as two separate words in this book), are used in the most incorrect way possible. All I kept thinking was “Did you not have a friend, an enemy, anyone read this before it was published”. With the amount of grammatical errors that I saw in this, it really shocked me when I went to Amazon originally to add it my Kindle and saw that the paperback version of this book is $100 and the hardback version is $95…GIRL BYE ✋🏾; I was shocked, especially after I read it! If you’re gonna charge that much for a book you better have no errors in it whatsoever. That shit better be on point. It better be tight.
Maybe for some people, this would be considered dark, but for those who have read dark books, that have like three pages of trigger warnings this is not going to be dark. Even the spicy scenes were just giving…meh and we’re basic.
The two stars are for Monster and Natavi because I did actually enjoy their cute little relationship and how it developed and progressed but that’s it.
First and most important, if you've read this book, I don't care who your book bae is. I just need you to know it's not Monster. I'm glad we could get that cleared up.
The Filth Kings is a story of redemption, lust, vengeance, and greed. Angel and her best friend Natavia are very different people. Angel comes from a wealthy family, and she has a successful blog. Natalia is an entrepreneur of sorts as well. Unfortunately, she has to split funds with a man who takes advantage of her. Their respective careers lead them into the hands of the Decebal family, where things get dark and dirty. This story checked off a lot of my boxes. There was a mysterious aspect that kept me turning pages. I loved the time Masterpiece took in creating the emotional development of the characters. The four main characters felt very familiar. I was able to relate to their feelings, and there were moments when I WISH I could be feeling what they were feeling. The storyline is easy to follow, but the characters are so multifaceted that they add layers to the plot. I do wish the FMCs were as developed as the MMCs, and I felt the dialogue lacked continuity, but I am excited to see how this story grows.
Let me first start my saying The Filth Kings were indeed FILTHYYYY! The detailed descriptions that this book provided was everything!! The twists was twisting because whettttttt!?????
Favorite Quote- “Good because as good as this pussy is to me…it’s the closest thing of what I imagined heaven to feel like.”
This Was So GoodT….I Love Feeling The Characters Different/Unique Personalities Throughout Each Page And The Twists/Turns Were Written Perfectly. It Was The Right Amount Of Everything. I Don’t Do Spoilers So Ima Shut Up But This Is Definitely A Read That Will Stick With Me. Masterpiece Definitely Did Her Thang
My first urban dark romance recommended by some friends of mine. I did not know what to expect honestly & I was intrigued. It started out on 10 and slowed a lil thru the mid but ended with a strong kick.
There was an unexpected twist that I didn’t see coming & I was shocked!
Chileeee…..what do y’all have me reading out here in these literary streets? I don’t know if I would call this a dark romance, but it was definitely twisted!
I almost DNF’d this book because it started out slow. At first the story line was all over the place, it lacked depth, and it took a while for characters to be developed. However, when the book started focusing on Monster, there was a shift and I locked in. The story line started to take shape and it finally came together.
This book focused on two MMCs and FMCs and their connections to each other. Now, while I fell in love with Monster and Natavi’s story, I’m still scratching my head about Datavio and Angel’s situationship (I may come back later and update my review after I sit with it for a bit.)
This book focused on family drama and betrayal….Sometimes it be your own people! It also tapped into two of the most unsuspecting people and their journey towards normalcy and love. Check your triggers.…this one gets into some really touchy subjects.
I really had high hopes for this book, but I ended DNF’ing it at 34%. I enjoy a good dark romance, but this one felt quite disjointed. There seemed to be two main storylines: Octavio and Angel, and Monster and Natavi. It felt like the author was trying to incorporate multiple tropes—revenge, stalker, enemies-to-lovers with one pair, and forced arrangement, dark lover with the other. After one chapter, it jumps from her going to his house to the next day, where he suddenly has a soft side and transforms into a knight-in-shining-armor figure, wanting her to leave the streets and stop selling herself. There was a lack of development in the storyline. The other storyline featuring Octavio and Angel felt a bit drawn out, almost a slow burn. I suppose he wanted to toy with her a bit before getting more involved. Were there dark elements in the story? Yes. Was there romance? Yes. But do I consider this a true dark romance? Not really.
My favorite was Natavi & Monster. I felt more of a connection with them two versus Angel & Devatio. Angel & Devatio had more of a sexual connection, whereas Natavi & Monster had more of an emotional connection.
The secrets and lies. The twists and turns 😰. Jalissa & Impurity were some sick @$$ parents. Like wtf 🤯. I hope to see more of Octavio in the next book. I’m so curious about him.
Ngl I was so invested in this. This was good asf. I can’t wait for part 2. #LetsGetFilthy
Monster and Detavio!!! Lord the way I would let them… okay…. Keep it cute 🥰… this was a really good read of two brothers tormented by their parents and deemed unworthy of love finding that exact thing in unlikely women. I loved how they both were fighting allowing these women in their heart but they wouldn’t let them out their sight…. They were crazy but definitely deserving of love. I’m interested to see what happens with them next. This was definitely worth a read!!
I had to take a couple of days to get myself together. This took me on a wild ride and I actually liked it. Natavi is Monster’s person and it made me see a softer side of him. I want even start on the parents because they were awful. Will you get all the fifth and everything that comes along with it while reading this ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Man I wasn’t expecting nothing that came from this book and I’m glad usually I can put it together before the 3rd chapter but baby this was definitely that and I’m not giving anything away it was so freaking good so just go read the book for yourself 🔥
i love dark romance but i never have read a dark urban romance. confusing start because of the complexity of the characters and plot BUT if you buckle up and pay attention youll be fine. the ending was NOT expected and all i could say was wtf wtf wtf i need pt 2 now like rn
Masteeeeerrrrrppppiiiieeeccceee girrrllll you put your foot in this book. Hot Damn it was crazy, messy, nasty, unhinged...I need more of these types of books.
THE title is fitting , Filth Kingssss… I can go on another ride any day now! 🤭
Where do I even want to start, first off I don’t think this book is made for everyone, cause the mixed reviews I read. Side note so happy I trusted my own gut and decide to give it an fair chance , &yess this book is twisted & dark but it still so fulfilling in so many ways. Will have you hooked cause you what to know what going to happened and you have so many questions?? Moments of omggg is this really happening jaw to the floor…
What I will say give it a chance, THE Filth KINGS had me INTRIGUED Authoress Masterpiece talking can we handle them yesss I can !
They really f the brothers up but it was so rewarding watching them try and give in to love they so deserving ! I do like all 3!!!(. I can’t wait to learn more about Octavio & to watch their brotherly bond blossom!
MONSTER / Monni I knew it was going to be him for me! & Navi! THEM!
First book from Masterpiece and will not be my last ,if you don’t mind a whole lot of spiceeee you are in for treat cause some of these scenes! 🤤😴
Just read the Triggers cause it just may not be your cup for tea! 😮💨
Please check trigger warnings cause its a lot to unpack .
We have three brothers: Monster, Detavio and Octavio .
Monster was shipped off after he was born cause his father, Impurity was money hungry .
Detavio, separated from his siblings at a young age, made a name for himself with his own dating app, Meet Me but also letting trauma lead his life. He basically lived just like his father, who he disliked . His father always thought a man showing emotion made him weak. I liked Detavio’s character growth; we got to see him soften up towards the end of the story and go after what he wanted, which was Angel.
Octavio/ Octavia groomed at a young age because his mom, Jalissa wanted a daughter .
This story wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be . It was a few scenes that were dark but not the whole story . It’s more of a traditional dark romance .
I would say Monster & Natavi were my favorite. I loved that Monster was able to let his guard down and let their relationship blossom.
Angel & Detavio are still growing on me . And Im curious of Octavio’s love interest.
Even though they were separated, in the end they all ended up being there for each other.
This book does end on a cliffhanger, which left me slick confused .
Was it spicy and at times just damn filthy? Absolutely. Was it pure insanity the whole time?absolutely… am I still going on to book 2 because I’m nosy as hell? Absolutely. There has to be something wrong with me. And I most definitely have to be the problem and the drama. There was a lot of unhinged and just pure craziness going on in this book. This is definitely one of those books where either you going to keep going because you are nosy as I am or you gonna want to stop because it’s that crazy..
Wheww Masterpiece did her thang with this story, the character development, plot was everything. If you not into dark romance then this isn’t for you but if you are…run don’t walk and download this! I don’t want to give the plot away but the people you hate in the beginning you start to love and some you just still end up hating cause they deserve it!
The storyline was amazing! She wrote the heck out of this book, captivating you and holding you until the the end. Very steamy scenes that will have you clutching your grandmother pearls!
