Flown out to start her position as the new publicist for a very important client, Nina soon discovers that her fiery relationship with Gabe is ensnared in nothing but secrets and lies...
Caught in a web of jealousy and obsession, Gabe must do whatever it takes to restore Nina's faith in him or risk losing the woman he's determined to have.

More hair than brains, this h.😤 She’s not gullible and trusting but straight out foolish and senseless.😤 I prefer innocent and naive heroines but even I’m repulsed by this simpleton’s thought process😤 She’s worse than the lying liar of an excuse for a hero😤 Even my family, who has a firm policy of never calling people stupid would agree that she’s pretty much the poster girl for stupidity😤
My first read by the this author. Can't remember what prompted me to read this book. The characters and plot were okay. The story took at left turn at 60%. Got kind of weird with the ex-wife towards the middle. The story starts with Gabe and Nina already 7 months into their relationship so we don't see the build up to their love. That made it kind of hard to get into them. It was okay. Entertaining enough to keep me reading. I think the plot and characters needed more fleshing out.
Godawful. The writing wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. There were no major errors and relatively few minor errors. The characters, however, were revolting.
The hero Gabe is introduced in Chapter Three as a man who, when faced with a woman who is justifiably angry with him and trying to get away from him, physically subdues her, pins her down on the bed and then proceeds to argue with her until she gives in and has sex with him. A man who kept major secrets. I'm just going to say this - if you cannot be honest with someone, you have no business or right to be having sex with them. Especially given that the kind of secrets Gabe was keeping might have led to a withdrawal of consent. Furthermore, a man who married a woman he didn't love, paid her zero attention but doesn't consider until 2/3 of the way through the book that he might not be entirely blameless in the breakdown of their relationship. I mean, seriously, WHAT A PRICK.
Unfortunately, the heroine was even worse. She's a total fucking moron. Who accepts a drink from someone they don't know? Never mind a "herbal" drink which they have no idea what it contains? While by themselves in a seedy club? With no transport or idea of where they are? Knowing that they are diabetic and have to be particularly careful with what they consume? She's one of my most hated tropes - the virgin coming in to save the womaniser. As if all a man needs is a virgin to save him (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! What was that you said about women being sexually liberated again?).
But more than that, she slut shames HERSELF. "Only a female dog in heat would react this way after the lies he'd fed her. Clearly she was no better than him - a wanton cheater." Who even uses the word "wanton" anymore, anyway? "And where is that? The part where I spread my legs for a married man again?" "Then again, he never had to try hard to have her. She always made it easy for him." Oh, and you know what else?
This shit makes me angry. Readers with more distinctly traditional notions of male-female relationships than myself might enjoy His Flower Queen but I definitely do not recommend it to anyone who is even a little bit liberal.
I don't know if I would have continued a relationship like Gabe and Nina's. It has too many lies and secrets, how much pain can the heart take? Nice ending, though, especially the part when Nina punched Meredith. That was my favorite part of the story.
I was so lucky to receive the first two books of this series to be able to review because I so much enjoyed the other books in the series. I have to say that I'm not disappointed with the series overall and this book did not disappoint either.
Regina, or as she was referred to in the book, Nina was sweet, trusting, young and naïve. She's all of those things, but she's nobody's pushover. She has a spine of steel and will speak her mind if she needs to. She has unexpected moments where the reader is given glimpses of her steel and I have to say, I loved her more for it. She's not worldly, she doesn't try and pretend that she is, or act like something she isn't. However, she's unafraid to go toe to toe with whomever she's squaring off with. Also, she is first and foremost a lady. I respect a character like that.
I wasn't that impressed with Gabe at first. He presents a sophisticated package and his intentions were not meant to do any harm. He's just in a situation that doesn't leave him with a lot of wriggle room, and instead of being upfront and honest, he gives the impression of being dishonest. Instead of being honest with Nina, he takes an easy way out of a situation and then does nothing to rectify the situation because it's easier to let things slide. I know this sounds vague, but I don't want to ruin the plot for the reader. Gabe did redeem himself in my eyes at the end of the book and I was so happy that he was able to do this because I was struggling to find any redeeming qualities about him. He loved Nina deeply and wanted to make her happy. He wanted to protect her as much as possible, he just went about it the wrong way. This was a surprise relationship for him and so he didn't really think things through regarding how he was going to handle his personal affairs and things snowballed from there.
I was so happy to be able to read how this series started and I get to read the whole series. I hope any readers out there that enjoy series books, gives this one a try. Lena Hart's characters are feisty, funny, flawed and want to do the right thing and keep each other happy. How can anyone go wrong with that?
Decent story lacked a little fire in my opinion. Meaning the story just didn't move seamlessly, it was a little choppy. Nina came across too naive for my taste and I felt that some of her reactions to situations were kind of childish. Overall it was decent story.
This is my fourth story by this author and she has never failed to deliver and is fast becoming another of my favorite authors.
This is Nina and Gabe’s story. All I can say is wow!!! This story has suspense, attempted murder, jealousy, drugs, lies, deception, hatred, romance, love mistrust and finally redemption.
This story was intense and fast moving. The author brings the drama from page 1 which is how I love my books. Now as far as I am concerned everyone in this story deserves a beat down.
Gabe: For not telling Nina all his secrets and allowing his secrets to put his relationship with Nina in serious jeopardy as well as her life!!! Nina: For getting into a car with someone she did not know. Did her mother not teach her not to get into cars with strangers!! I was screaming at this point but of course she could not hear me and all my worst fears were realized.
Meredith: Now a beat down is too good for this vindictive excuse for a woman never mind a human being!!! I dislike it when women go so low to element their rival. I agree there are tricks you can use but going this far was way too low!!
I read it in one sitting. I was totally enthralled with the story I simply could not put it down. You can feel the love emanating from the couple. I did feel sorry for Gabe at times because he did make some BIG MISTAKES in this relationship but it was not because he did not love Nina he was just so afraid of losing her!!!
This is a 5 stars read and I cannot wait for the other books in this series. I will be 1-clicking for sure!!!
4 stars I purchased His Flower Queen a 2 book bundle by Lena Hart May 18,2017 and this review was given freely. The story opens mid relationship with the disillusioned Bostonian Regina, who has just found out that Gabe is married and has been lying to her for seven months, flying to Las Vegas for a PR campaign for Royal Courts Resorts. Flashbacks to moments between "Nina" and Gabe intersperse present day drama and intrigue at the Royal Courts. This is a serious and sometimes steamy rocky romance filled with one lie or twist after another including a drug related abuse scene but ultimately ends happily. over 18 recommended.
4 stars I purchased a copy of His Bedpost Queen in the 2 book bundle His Flower Queen by Lena hart May 18, 2017 and this review was given freely. The His Queen nevada based series continues with Gabe's best friend and business partner David whose connection to crime comes back to haunt him in the form of his childhood crew the Acerra Brothers and Athena. This second chance at love steamy romance covers the same time frame in His Flower Queen with interconnecting scenes related from "David's" view and covers such topics as family loyalty, unrequited love, betrayal, and addiction. This novel contains mild bondage and some violence making this a recommended over 18 novel.
This is another interracial romance that has more sex than story. Its the short story of Gabe and Nina.
There's very little background and the story began seven months into their relationship. There's no character development. Gabe owns a casino and,Nina is the Public Relations Director. Everything else we learn is based on Gabe's lies to Nina. He's married but refers to his wife as his ex. Supposedly he's Bern trying to get a divorce for three years. Apparently, its,all about his money in spite of him being in live with Nina.
Nina find out by his, wife texting her. Even she finally confronts him, she learns that's not the only lie he's told her. She doesn't know his real name and nothing about his business, including the fact that she works for him.
There so much going on with his business attacked with a computer virus and his ex-wife drugging Nina. Nina is so naive and gullible that she accepts everything he says with very little push-back. She was angrier at his ex-wife for drugging her than she was for his many lies.
The premise of this book was never realized. There was very little backstory and no character development - but plenty of sex.
This was my first book by this author and overall, I enjoyed the storyline. I liked how Gabe passionately loved Nina and didn’t let her walk away from him. I’m conflicted because I’m not sure how I felt about the full development of the story or lack there of maybe. Like, Meredith, why was she left off the hook so easily. What was the significance the female bellhop in the oversized uniform. There was the mystery of the break in but it was suddenly resolved with no real follow through. Those were just some small details that could have added more to the story. However, overall, I really did enjoy Nina and Gabe’s story.
Gabriel Alexander was smitten with Nina Connors, but it might be too late to fix all that's wrong.
Gabe's trust issues have caused him to create a situation that is less than transparent. When Nina finds out about the string of misrepresented facts she's left between a rock and a hard place and wants nothing to do with Gabe.
Gabe wants to fight for their budding relationship, but how can he make it right with a soon to be ex-wife holding out for a bigger pay off and a business that may be at risk by unknown forces?
This was just ok. Nina was so naive it made my head hurt! Gabe was manipulative beyond belief.
I wanted to read a story where the female lead had a war with another woman for the male lead. Here the female lead Nina, is roped into Gabe and Meredith’s messy divorce and she got hurt in the way with Meredith poisoning her and almost having her raped. Meredith is a toxic obsessed narcissist woman that wants her way because she strongly believes is her way or no way. I strongly believe that Gabe should have at least talked with Nina about his situation and she would have understood. Also I liked the story very much because of female rivalry but I would have loved that at some point of the story Meredith would have been put at her place and left with nothing. Overall it was a great story.

Mm, I've been trying out a few m/f romances in the past week or so and I'll probably try a couple more but I'm beginning to remember what tends to irk me about them. Things like pinning women to beds so they can't run away from a conversation, attempted rape being used for dramatic effect but quickly brushed off, power imbalances that leave the man with too much control, stuff like that. This book really was not for me. That said, I did like the author's tone and style--a case of enjoying the craft but not the content, I guess.
I liked this book, but it seemed to jump around at parts which made the story not flow. There seemed to be much more to the two main characters, Gabe and Nina, that was hinted at and appeared important, but was never explained. Even the situation with Meredith, as serious as it was, was glossed over. I will read the next installment about Dave anticipating that it is better than this first installment.
Gabe and Nina were such a perfect couple. Their story was well done. Nina finds out that Gabe hasn't been completely forthcoming with all the details of his life and Gabe is afraid that those details will make her run away. Their story of love, honesty, trust and details was was heartwarming . Great book!
This wasn't really a bad story. Think of it more as unfinished.
We are immediately dropped into this story, there is no time to get to know the characters or who they are. We are just dropped into the middle of a story that seemingly has no beginning and doesn't really have wgat I would call a proper end. Other than that, it was fine, it was just missing some things.
I didn't enjoy this story the way I thought I would. The characters and the lies were just too much. Gabe's ex interfering and doing what she did was over the top and crazy. I wanted to like these two characters but just couldn't. I finished the book but only marked one highlight. "I want you to always be happy with me."
As one review said i felt like it's been dropped in the middle of a novel. It could have been a great read, the story was there but the execution wasn't. I really wanted to see the ex get what she deserved but it all ended quite amicably! I like my men a bit more alpha, if someone hurts their woman i want my hero to destroy that person.
A woman in love is a fool, Lol well in this case. Like seriously, a relationship built on lies, I have never read a book where I literally was so freaking pissed at a character (Nina). This book gets a two only because of how it's started.
Gabe and Nina’s story is a beautiful love story with some twists and turns. He keep his real life secret from Nina and when she finds out that when their trouble start.
This story was horrible.. Nina was a weak and a puppet for Gabe. I’m so happy this book was free. The characters were not really developed. The divorce situation was pathetic.. and Nina was so immature and silly. These are just my thoughts.
This is a really good story. It's difficult to explain too much as Have has secrets which are the story. But jealous exes, mystery plot and a man who loves her to bits.
Keeping things from a a new love can really hurt the relationship and can make a person scream and leave but coming clean with the lies can start a healing.
