Code Name: Dante (Special Forces: Operation Alpha)

Rate this book
He spent years as an undercover agent,

bringing down his own family.

She was raised to hate everything his name represented.

Together, they'll uncover long-buried secrets that connect their families in ways neither expected.

DANTE

I dedicated my life to bringing down my brother’s criminal empire, sacrificing everything to expose the corruption running through my family name. The last thing I expected was to fall for Lark Gregory—the granddaughter of a woman whose family mine had destroyed generations ago. But from the moment I saw her at that coffee shop, I knew she was different. Now, as threats close in from all sides and long-buried secrets surface, I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. Even if it means facing my own brother and uncovering truths that could destroy us all.

LARK

I was raised on stories of how the Castellanos destroyed my family’s legacy. The last person I should trust is Alessandro Castellano—no matter how much he claims to be different from his criminal family. But as danger circles closer and my grandmother’s closely guarded secrets begin to unravel, I find myself turning to the one man I was taught to hate. Now, with both our mothers’ disappearances somehow connected and old vendettas threatening to tear us apart, I have to decide if love really can overcome generations of hatred.

Deception is the name of the game for Alessandro "Dante" Castellano. He has been working deep undercover to bring down his family's criminal enterprise that has existed for generations. When he meets Lark Gregory his focus splits to not only continuing he undercover work but to protecting the woman who has captured his heart.

Code Name: Dante is an absolutely riveting story of secrets, lies, and plot twists you won't see coming. Heather Slade has an ability to create complex characters that you will fall in love with and of course some that you will hate. She is masterful at weaving stories that will keep you guessing and never wanting to put the book down even though its late and you should be sleeping...but what's a little sleep deprivation in order to finish a fantastic read that will leave you wanting more!!!! I am so excited about this new series K19 Sentinal Cyber and can't wait for future books!!!!

Such an amazing journey!

Alessandro and Lark have such a sweet, slow-burn romance! I loved every step along the way, watching them go from wariness because of their families' history to friendship to partners as they searched for the truth about both their mothers. There are quite a few shocking twists and turns along the way that kept me captivated right through the very last page.

This story really gets into the nitty gritty politics of mafia families, their secrets, their vendettas, as well as their lawlessness. No glorified anti-heroes here - it's clear from the start who the good guys are, and for that I'm very thankful. If you read Code Name: Admiral, then you already know Sandro/Dante and his messed up family. This story goes much deeper into that history to resolve all the chaos that started with his brother's arrest.

The showdown scene at the end was full of surprises, leading to a very satisfying HEA for Lark and Dante and their families. The writing is, as I've come to expect from this author, simply brilliant and always on target. If you like romances that follow true heroes and the women who match them strength for strength, you don't want to miss this amazing series.

We met both of the main characters Lark Gregory and Alessandro "Dante" Castellano in the first book of this series. Lark the barista at Alice's favorite coffee shop, who became a friend and Dante turns out to be working for the DOJ and not his crime lord brother Vincent.
Lark grew up hating the Castellano's and everything they represented. The crime family destroyed the family Glove factory, which is what the City of Gloversville, NY was originally known for. Ms. Slade a former New Yorker, added a little bit of fiction to the decline of industry in that city. Of course, she had to disregard the feelings that Dante stirred. She didn't want to upset her grandmother, the person that raised her. Lark appealed to every protective instinct within Dante, and he wasn't giving up without a fight. Besides each day it was apparent the Gregory family and their coffee shop "A Perfect Fit" had a target on their backs. As much as Lark didn't want to admit it, she needed protection, and help.
In typical Heather Slade fashion this book had more twists and turns than one could keep up with. Just when you think you have it all figured out BAM! She sends you off on another direction.

A story that will consume you from beginning to end.

Dante (Alessandro) Castellano and Lark Gregory are at the wedding reception of Admiral and Alice. Lark keeps sneaking suspicious looks at Dante. But Dante has been studying her now and when she worked at Method Tea and Coffee in Manhattan, too. She now lives a town near here in Gloversville and runs her grandmother’s coffee shop, Perfect Fit Coffee & Tea. His family used to be the most powerful mafia in New York State years ago. When he first saw her his heart squeezed in his chest and he thinks she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. Lark thinks Dante is the one who was Vincent’s enforcer back when he had been undercover to bring down the Castellano family, and he did. Vincent, his brother, is now in jail. He is currently a DOJ informant and future K19 Sentinel Cyber partner. There’s always been a feud between their families, which all will be revealed in this story. The past is being repeated in the present. It's all a mystery they unravel piece by piece. Meanwhile, he loves her and she slowly comes around to loving him. This story is a mystery and an intense story.

Love, Family Secrets, and Deadly Danger
Alesandro—code name Dante—is in love with the one woman who has every reason to hate him. Lark Gregory was raised on stories of how his crime family destroyed hers, and she wants nothing to do with him. But when danger comes knocking, she has no choice but to turn to the man she was taught to despise.
Dante is relentless in his mission to protect her, and his actions speak louder than words. After all, he spent years working undercover to dismantle his own family's criminal empire. Could that kind of integrity—and persistence—be enough to change Lark’s mind?
As they work together, Lark and Dante uncover secrets that bind their families in ways neither could have imagined. But those revelations come with deadly consequences. Can love survive betrayal, blood ties, and a legacy of violence?
This gripping romantic suspense had me on the edge of my seat. It’s a new favorite from Heather Slade. If you enjoy high-stakes drama, intense chemistry, and twisty family secrets, Code Name: Dante is an excellent read. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next.

Heather Slade does a masterful job of weaving a tale full of deceptions, lies, mafia wars, intrigue, family secrets and a wonderful romance in Code Name: Dante. Alessandro "Dante" Castellano and Lark Gregory's lives are interwoven tightly despite the fact they only recently met officially. Their families have a long and violent history so it's no wonder that she want absolutely nothing to do with him. With his undercover assignment finally over, Dante becomes part of the newly formed K-19 Sentinel Cyber Team. Coincidentally, Lark and her grandmother land on their radar. Now it's a matter of ferreting out secrets, identifying suspects and figuring out motives as to why these two women are suddenly targeted. Learning to trust Dante is not easy but he proves himsel worthy, at least to her. You're in for some surprises, a few twists and an epic discovery that affects both Lark and Dante's lives. But, that leads to a happily ever after for all and intoduces a new character for the next series book.

Dante will have you sitting on the edge of your seat trying to figure out all of the ins and outs of what is happening. Dante is the younger son of the Castellano family his older brother Vincent is the current head of the family. Dante has left the family and is now working for the DOJ as an undercover operative to get evidence on organized crime. We discover that Lark who becomes Dante’s love interest is also from another organized crime family. Many things will be revealed and the surprises that come with there revelation make this a book that will keep you wondering who are really the bad guys or were they just trying to protect other family members. Tex plays a role in this book also and as always he’s able to provide help to the hero and heroine. Heather has written a book the is full of zigs and zags in the story that will keep you wondering are the bad guys all bad. Enjoy the read.

Twists and Turns

This is book 2 in the new K19 Sentinel Cyber series. This series is starting out with a bang. This book is action packed with twists in the story you don't see coming. Sometimes people aren't all good or bad but a mix with ther circumstances.

Alessandro has wanted Lark for as long as he can remember. Hiding who he is waiting hoping for the day. When Lark realizes who he is all she sees is his familiy name. Can he prove himself to her intime to save her from what's coming? When the enemy is coming from all sides who do you trust? How do you understand a past that you didn't know existed?

Lark and Alessandro are full of chemistry and sweet redemption. I loved them as a couple and this story goes back a bit if form the the original series and some of the unexpected twists to the story. This is another amazing book that I couldn't put down until the end.

Code Name: Dante is book 2 in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha; K19 Sentinel Cyber by Heather Slade and the good vibes keep coming…

Dante has been deep undercover to take down his family’s criminal enterprise but while attending his buddy’s wedding he see Lark, a barista he saw before who now runs her grandmother’s coffee shop. Both discreetly keep eyeing each other but she thinks he is like his family and won’t give him the time of day, until threats come to the coffee shop and he wants to help. With a bit of the Susan Stoker’s world added in to this explosive, emotional, trust issues, mystery, deception, twists, turns, seeing old friends and so much more…

I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The chemistry between Lark and Alessandro is there from the beginning before they know they are supposed to be opposite sides. Lark has been raised to hate the Castellano family and everything it represents which includes Alessandro "Dante" Castellano. Dante has been undercover for years to gather evidence to bring his brother and the Castellano family down. These two meet and it starts an unraveling of the past they had no idea of. So many secrets, mysteries and lives changed once the truth starts coming out. Survival that has lasted almost 30 years comes to a head. What a great story that will leave you on the edge of your seat!

Dante and Lark were an amazing couple who really compelled me to keep reading. Secrets, lies, and Betrayal all tied into their families.

When Lark was being targeted, she turns to the man she had been taught to hate Dante who he and his team step up to protect her.

Drama and danger are the name of the game in this book. The dynamic and their chemistry certainly made it a very exciting book.

I enjoyed the team spirit and how the guys were his back up as well as how the relationship developed.

So well done. Exciting plot and engaging characters made this a must read for me. So good!!

OMIGOSH! I don't know where to start...

This book, oh gosh, this book, I believe is my new favorite in this series. It was Code Name: Admiral but now Dante has taken over. HOLY HOTNESS!

This story shows both characters to be gorgeous, strong, intelligent and unstoppable!!

The twists and turns in this also had my head spinning. I could not stop reading, I finished it in less than 8 hours!!! The Grandmother was both stern and funny. Everyone needs a Grama like that one!

Dante & Lark are so perfect for each other. And to both of them, FAMILY is everything!

I so love your work, Heather Slade! Waiting (not so) patiently for the next one!!

Dante/Alessandro has been going into the coffee shop regularly, in disguise, to see Lark. The first time he saw her he was smitten, but his surname is of a mafia family although he's not working for them but for the justice department, he knows Lark would hate him for that.
They meet properly at Admiral and Alice's wedding, he's about to start working with Admiral.
Then Lark gets a threatening letter and is persuaded to move, with her grandmother.
Dante is trying really hard not to control Lark, by asking what she wants but he needs to protect her. Especially when they start uncovering secrets.

Another great read in the series from Heather.

This is the 2nd book in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha; K19 Sentinel Cyber by Heather Slade and this is Alessandro (Dante) Castellano and Lark Gregory’s story. The chemistry between these two has always been there and it is electric! She has been raised to hate the Castellano family and everyone in it. He has been undercover for years, gathering evidence to bring his family down. When they finally get together and start digging into the past, one they had absolutely no idea of. Secrets and lives begin to unravel once the truth surfaces. What are these secrets? Will they get their HEA?? You will have to read this fascinating book to find out. ENJOY!

The story that started in Admiral’s book continues in this one as we learn about Dante’s mission to take down his brother’s criminal enterprise and end his family’s long history of murder and mayhem. Lark believes that Dante’s family is responsible for most of the bad that has ever happened in her life because that’s what she has been taught to believe. Together they discover secrets that will change both of their lives and fall in love in the process. We meet more of the K19 Sentinel Cyber team and catch up with some others from other K19 teams. Another exciting and action-packed story from Heather Slade who never fails to weave an intricate tale in expert fashion!

Code Name: Dante

Wow! Coming from crime families is a definite rude awakening. This story is about Dante and Lark. Dante knew about his family's crimes but he didn't realize that he had a different father than his brother. As the story progresses, we learn that Dante's mother is actually alive as is Lark's mother. He also found our he has a sister. What a tangled weave these families made. As it turns out, the two families got things straighten out and Dante and Lark got their happy ending and started their lives together without fear of crime families hunting them down. FANTASTIC job Heather! I would recommend this book!

Code Name Dante is the 2nd book in the K19 Sentinel Cyber series and I definitely recommend reading the books in order for the backstory on both Dante and Lark as well as the underlying suspense arc that runs through the series. There's insta-attraction, angst and a touch of enemies-to-lovers amidst mystery, danger and family secrets. A gripping rollercoaster of a read which only briefly stops for Dante and Lark's HEA before taking off for another round with Grit's story next. I can't wait! As always, I'm leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

Family connections

Dante and Lark. Organized crime family…but more. The twists and overlaps of the families and characters was unexpected and fascinating. The team and connection to DOJ legal cases for organized crime was intriguing and kept the questions of what was going on for the whole book. The ending was a surprise with all the twists and secrets revealed. That lake and use of two K19 teams is so fun and I love the mention of the other team and of Tex. Great read and can’t wait for the next one!

I only put this down to sleep and work. I loved this story of Dante and Lark. These two have so many twists and turns that it can make you dizzy! But don’t let that discourage you! You will fall in love with these two!
They come from two different worlds. When they meet, sparks fly in so many directions. Can they solve the mystery of the secretes? Including their whole life feels like a lie?
It’s not quite the ending I expected but wow! I loved this! I know you will too!

Another stunning chapter in this new series. This story has LOADS of secrets, and a gram that is a locked up safe and you can't get in no matter what. Never would have thought this story would have ended up like it did, I am still trying to figure out why that character did what they did. So many questions, but the author has laid out the next book near the end and now I'm ready for the next chapter. "Together and then tactical reconnaissance"

I freaking love Lark and Dante as well as the other characters in Code Name: Dante! I literally read it in one day (of course, it helped that I was confined to bed with covid lol). This was a fast-paced thriller that had me second-guessing the plot. I didn't get it right at any point. Great characterizations, cohesive plot and a very satisfying HEA ending. There were a couple bedroom scenes but written tastefully, not raunchy and very little adult language. Absolutely loved it!

Holy cow, Heather Slade has done it again. Brought us another book that will keep you engrossed from the first page to the last. Dante and Lark are quite the entertaining couple as they navigate the twist and turns of his criminal family. These two aren't supposed to get along due to their family's history but that doesn't stop them from falling in love. You definitely don't want to miss this very entertaining read.

Dante knows how to play the long game, but this time, he isn't playing! His heart is determined to love and protect Lark. He just needs to convince her that the bad guy he pretended to be was not real. Doing that is not easy when there is danger and intrigue around every corner.
Lark is suspicious. Can Dante be trusted? Can she follow the attraction she feels for him, or is she falling into a trap?
I really enjoyed book 2 of this series. Can't wait for the next!

This is a page-turner suspense with secrets all around. Lark wanted to hate Alessandro "Dante" Castellanos because his family destroyed her family legacy. However, he turned out to be a witness to destroy the Castellanos. Each scene brought new secrets for both Lark and Dante. Will they uncover the secrets and get their HEA? I recommend reading Dante's story to find the answers.

How this all works out is another fantastic read in this series, can’t wait for the next instalment !
