En este segundo tomo, continuamos con la trama "dividida" en dos: por un lado la historia de Cat en el presente y, por otro, la del pasado. Cada vez se van estableciendo más relaciones entre ambas y dando respuestas a las diversas incógnitas. Resaltaría cómo se introduce cada vez más el ajedrez en todos los ámbitos de la historia dándonos la posibilidad de ir relacionando personajes con piezas y situaciones con movimientos de forma menos confusa.
