Lil's and Jay lived their very own fairytale biker romance. He was her first love, her only love. She was what he needed, what he wanted.
Insecurities, fear and misconceptions lead Lil's to make a heartbreaking decision to abandon that life and love behind, before it consumes and destroys her as it did her mother years earlier.
But.. moving on isn't so easy when you are deeply connected to your past.
When Lil's finds herself in a whirlwind of danger her knight in shining armor, er..., her badass biker on a Harley bails her out. But at what cost?
Warning: This novella is intended for those 18+ of age and contains strong language, sexual content, adult situations and a shocking ending that is continued in book #2, A Lil' Less Lost.

I really enjoyed this story! My only complaint is I'm not a fan of cliffhangers and this one caught me completely off guard.
The story is engaging and I connected with the characters right away... and stayed connected throughout the entire story. This book stayed true to the whole MC genre that I enjoy. And the sex was pretty hot!
Jay was rough and tumble and sweet and sexy and he pulled it all off very well. That was a major bonus for me.
This isn't your typical boy meets girl, they fall in love, yada, yada, yada.. it's more than that. Jay and Lil have a history. They met when they were younger, (although Jay was a bit older than Lil), and due to an unpleasant misunderstanding, Lil ran. She stayed gone for quite some time, until circumstances brought Jay back in to her life. The love between these two is evident and just made me love the characters more.
They don't just pick up where they left off, they both have to work for it, and it's worth the wait. I enjoyed Lil going back to the past in the book, telling us what lead up to certain events. Not something I normally enjoy, but when an author gets it right, as Ms. Oakes did, it can enhance the story instead of hinder it.
Overall, this was an sweet, quick, sexy, enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to part two, due out in October 2014... which can't get here soon enough!
Solid 4 Stars!

Previous update:
I'm hooked at only 20% in!
From speaking with the author, I thought this was going to be a bit softer than what I normally read in an MC book. But I'm over the top happy! What a great MC book, exactly what I love to read in this genre!
i'm a fan of MC's stories & enjoy a good trilogy however i'm afraid i won't be following this story line by being drip fed 100 pages at a time & left on a cliff hanger... nope, been there done that & thoroughly annoyed by this on going trend...
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Lil is a biker princess that found love with Jay a member of The Kingsmen M.C., and childhood crush. Miscommunication and distrust tore them apart, and made her run away to pick up the pieces. Years later, an impulsive act has her tied to the club again, and forced to deal with the remnants of their broken love story.
The Good: 1. Both the hero and the heroine were very likable. 2. The dialogue flowed, and felt real. 3. Very hot read, but still had a romance that felt like the real thing, not just a lust fest. 4. Loved the way the Jay treated Lil', even when angry. 5. Great job of conveying alpha, but retaining some sweetness. 6. Just the right amount of angst. 7. I liked the feel of the MC.
the Bad: 1. A little shorter than my usual length preference 2. Cliffhanger ending
Final Thoughts
All in all, I really enjoyed this book. Especially considering I'm normally not a fan of novellas, or cliff hangers. It's a great start to a previously unknown biker romance series. I strongly recommend it to my other MC addicts.
I was given a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
So about 40% in, my attention span started to drift. I was then basically skimming till I got to the end. I'm used to reading dark, gritty, and raw mc books. This one wasn't.
This story did go into the past but to me I don't think it was done in the right way or maybe the past scenes just didn't do it for me. I find Lil to be immature and the whole thing when Jay said "chances of me coming inside you once without protection, the chances of becoming pregnant are slim" ugh I'm extremely tired of that line because we automatically know she's already knocked up.
Also I don't know if I got a finished copy (it didn't say ARC), but there were a few grammatical errors, but not enough to through me off completely.
This was my first MC book and since it's not my usually genre, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it. Turns out, I loved it! I didn't expect to find a connection with the characters and have them be so relate-able. I love that Lil and Jay reconnected and immediately resolved their issues, instead of it being dragged out thru the whole book. This made it possible for the story to move forward without the issues of their past always coming to the forefront. Which, in my opinion, made the story more enjoyable. I was shocked by the ending and can not wait to see what will happen in book 2: A Lil' Less Lost. For being a novella, there was a good amount of character development which entices the reader to want to know more. I would highly recommend this book to MC fans and to readers looking to explore a new genre.
I very nearly didn't make it to the end of this book. The editing and grammar were horrendous - missing words/letters, spelling, commas instead of apostrophes, as well as constant changes between past and present tense - just awful. It also felt incomplete in some ways, parts of the story really could have done with being developed more. For example Lil disappeared for 2 years without explanation but there are no details about her contact with the club within that time. Her brother visited her so they obviously knew where she was but apparently the love of her life didn't go looking for an explanation as to why she just up and left. It also didn't take much for her to return and jump right back in where they left off. It was all just very strange.
It's a cliff hanger. The characters are likable even though they come across as YA/NA to me. Two people raised in a MC and fall in love. Although they profess deep love for each other, the girl runs away for several years after seeing what she thinks is him paying a whore for sex. After she is abducted by a rival gang and returned to the family, she finds out he didn't cheat, he was merely paying a tattoo artist for a tattoo. It has your usual angst with the MC dealings even though they are a totally legit group now but still being attacked by old foes.

I've read my fair share of romance novels.. They all start out the same... Boy meets girl... They fall in love... I loved this book because it was different. The couple already had a history and there were plenty of flashbacks to tell us about it. I wasn't aware that there were so many curse words but it felt natural to the story. I mean, they're bikers, right? The sex scenes were fantastic. I'll definitely read the next one.
Story starts out with Lil's getting into a bad deal and Jay saves her. He offers her his " protection" in exchange for her coming back to him because she left him two years ago. She is 6 years younger than him so she was just a kid when they started dating and now she is in her twenties and a little different. He's changed too, I think.
The trouble that went down when she first got back into town was just a bit of a bigger situation and they find themselves in dangerous territory. Crazy cliffhanger. I was screaming when it ended because I need to know what happened.

This was enjoyable enough - but I found the writing shallow and I had difficulty accepting some of the reactions of the characters. It seemed to have started in the middle of the story with not enough detail given about the back story to get us invested.
I found the lead character a little annoying as I couldn't understand her choices as there wasn't enough time to learn about her character and motivations.
It also seemed like a drama book with a little sex rather than erotica.
If bikers do it for you - you might get more out of this than I did.
3-3.5 stars. This author gave me a copy for an honest review. It was a three star book for the most part. The main character Lil was a bit annoying and it was difficult to relate or get involved with the characters until the latter part of the book. But at around 85% it got better. The writing seemed to improve or I just adapted to it and the story seemed to flow better.
This is a second chance lover story and a biker romance too. I loved how the story went back and forth showing us glimpses of what happened to this sweet couple. Jay and Lil are both pretty stubborn and strong willed people. I found that if they'd have just talked back when they were younger then their lives would have taken a very big turn. When one crazy night throws Julia (Lil) into a crazy situation, she finds herself back in presence of her first love and also at his mercy. I felt these two had amazing chemistry and that their love never died no matter the time and distance they suffered through.
There was one scene that had to be my favorite type of this part of a love story..it was just hot.
His need was my need, and I would see to it that it was completely satisfied or die trying.
Yes some pretty hot scenes in this baby!!!
Quickly things escalate and drama is coming from all sides. Mix in some fiery love scenes and I was pretty much devouring this sexy read.
There were some pretty scary moments and then BAM cliffhanger 911 happens.
I'll be ready for the next one as I need to know what happens right now

This was a great debut MC Club novella and I would have loved a full length novel. The writing and story line were engaging and felt true to the MC lifestyle.
I have read MC books before and would have appreciated the little glossary in the front when I have read my first one. That was a great touch for me, even though I was now familiar with the terminology.
This book is told from Lil's POV and from the past to the present. It worked for me but I would have liked some more of the backstory and as is is a continuing series I am hoping we will get it in the book/s to come.
We start with Jay rescuing Lil after she was taken by a rival MC club for something she did and Jay agreed to pay handsomely for. This is the beginning of their reunion after Lil's left Jay 2 years prior for what I thought was a pretty knee jerk reaction but they resolve this pretty quickly and start to move forward.
Jay is a hot biker, and VP of the Chisholm charter of the Kingsman MC club. He is a straight shooter who does not mince his words and gets what he wants. Alpha all the way and I love him. I find it hard to believe that he let Lil's leave 2 years ago and didn't chase her or persist in finding out why. Anyway hopefully we will find out in subsequent books.
Lil's is the daughter and sister of members of the same MC club. Her brother and Jay are best friends and she grew up in the club. She is smart but stubborn with a short fuse and hence what gets her into trouble.
The last few chapters you could sense impending doom and when it happened it took my breath away. I really didn't expect what happened to her friend Emily and really hoped I read it wrong. But reading a 2nd time confirmed I read it correctly the first time and despite her only being a secondary character I felt gutted.
The last chapter in told in Jay's POV and I'm glad we got to see what he knows of the situation and prepares us for the next instalment.
Like I said I really enjoyed this novella and will be reading the next instalment when it comes out in October 2014. Wish I had it now but hey willing to wait.
I would have rated this higher if it wasn't DRIPPING with errors of every description. I notice and then cannot stop noticing and hyperfocusing on grammar and spelling mistakes so the random extra apostrophes pravalent throughout (even in the main character's name?!) really pushed my buttons. Then there were some missing words, several instances of using the wrong word ("waiver" in place of waver, "shutter" instead of shudder) and some sort of problem with the letters "tab". In my copy, whenever those letters were supposed to be there they'd just be gone; a table is always an "le" and when a character asks a bartender to put a drink on his tab, it reads "put that on my Sugar".
However, the story grabbed me to the extent that I was happy to overlook the mistakes and read on. In fact, you should proabably ignore my whining, because I practically devoured this book and even began the second installment the instant I finished the first (though the cliffhanger definitely contributed to that act). Also, I would normally be really irked by that cliffhanger but didn't learn of this series until the story's conclusion was available, so it's cool this time but in the future cliffhangers will be frowned upon!
I really did like the story, though I could do with fewer flashbacks (in the second book I've been skimming them). Even most of the way through the first book I felt connected enough to the characters in the present that I didn't need the flashbacks to show the connection they used to have. Since the later flashbacks don't reveal anything relevant to the present-day plot they become unnecessary and distracting and I hoped they'd be missing from the second book. This was not the case, but I was pleased to note that some of the errors from the first book seem much improved thus far in the second installment (I'm particularly grateful for the elimination of many of the unnecessary apostrophes - even though I get that the spelling of Lil's couldn't be changed midstream).
I have high hopes for Ms. Oakes and can't wait to read the rest of this series and to see what she'll have for us next!
I went in knowing that it wasn't a gritty MC story. I didn't have any expectations as I started the reunited love story of two young people who grew up in the life. As the author started to give the back story on Jay and Lils, I started to fall for the characters. Lils do some stupid things. She listened to the wrong people and jumped to assumptions which caused her pain. She should have talked with her man. Jay was completely in love with Lils and was hurt by her leaving him. I wondered why he never went after her to figure out why she had left. I think it was odd. The story is short and I'm sure more revelations will come to light.
The book have a huge cliffhanger!!! I wasn't prepared for it and now I have to wait for the continuation but I look forward to it. I hope the next book is longer since I'm not a fan of novellas or serials. I hope that the author let us into Jay's mind a bit more. Lils was so young and had to deal with a heavy relationship like theirs. The one thing I didn't care for was
This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
“You send one measly bimbo to the E.R. and you never live it down, jeesh.”
“I love you Lil’s. I know you know it, but I need to say it to you. I need you to hear it, to feel it, and see me saying it to you.”
My Review:
I adored this Little Less series by Tara Oakes like a new and delightful toy, and I didn’t want to put it down. I read both novellas in a day. Her stories were all involving, entertaining, and an easy read, yet something totally outside my own experience, and entailed learning a bit of new vocabulary. I saw elements of several blended genres, including new adult, family drama, women’s fiction, and erotic romantic, and suspense. I loved seeing bad-ass bikers described as romantics, fathers, lovers, brothers, extended family, and caring and tender souls. And the sensual scenes had me gasping, in a good way. I typically avoid reading series, but I hope I am paying attention when the next installment comes out. But for now, I am feeling the need to make a trip to the mall and pick out some boots and leather accessories, and just may troll the internet later and price a scooter.
Absolutely fantastic. I loved this book and can't wait for more. I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review, and I would have paid to read this one...great stuff.
I loved the way the story covered current day, but reflected on the past, so dealing with the here and now, but at the same time bringing us up to speed on how the characters met, fell out and ultimately came together again. Lil's has grown up in the biking community and jay fell in love with her from childhood. They grew up together, his family took her on as one of their own and they just suit each other. It's just meant to be. Miss understandings lead to fall out and separation, then a fight at a party throws them back together again.
The ending is a huge cliff hanger and left me reeling for a very sweet innocent character. Shame on you author. That was so unfair!!!. I will definitely be following this series. Shame I've missed the bonus chapters as the release date for the second has come and gone...but at least I don't have to wait for the second, and not too long for the final.

Oh my, where to start!
First off, thank-you Tara Oakes for adding a new author and series to my list.
I started reading this book Friday evening and finished it on Saturday evening - I couldn't put it down! It has been a long while since I felt connected to the characters in a book, and I have to say, I was connected to Jay and Lil's. As I was reading, I was like OMG, then holy crap, to finally - a cliff hanger, and now the waiting begins, because I need the second book now!!!
I liked the fact that there were references from the past to help understand the present. The emotions are strong and the love between them is hot! Jay, is 100% pure alpha, and just totally yummy! Lil's is sassy, funny and a woman who made a knee jerk decision that broke hers and Jay's heart. I also really like Jay's mom.
I highly recommend this book. Great book Ms. Oakes.
With that being said, I have read a few books with a MC theme. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My main complaint is I now have to wait for the next book to see what happens next!!!
Lil is given a second chance at love with Jay, although it is because she puts herself in a bad position and Jay "saves" her.
As they embark on their new journey, you are taken back in time years prior to their previous relationship at the same time as you find out what is currently going on. With the previous information, it fills in the holes in their story and you understand their current emotions. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down.
It helps that Tara lists a definition of the main words used with a MC at the beginning of her book. It reminded me of some of them and it will help any of you that have not heard it before; such as his "patches."
I would definitely recommend this book. It is worth the reading!!
I couldn't even finish this book. Firstly, MC club or not, Jay was an asshole and Lil just rolled over and took it? Constantly calling her baby? Ugh so annoying. She has a name. Use it once in a while. Speaking of which- is her name Lil or Lil's, because Lil's is not a name, it's something belonging to Lil.
Not sexy, not sweet, just a regular jackass with little to no respect for a woman. Also, lady lips? Please. I actually wanted to skip past the sex scenes. Lack of punctuation and a few grammatical errors that shouldn't have got past an editor (if it had one) added to my desire to NOT continue reading. Only rated 1 star as I couldn't rate any lower.
Could not finish and don't suspect I will read the follow up. Thank goodness they were free on amazon. I would have regretted buying them.
This was a great start to The Kingsmen MC series. Lil's left Jay a while ago after thinking he was cheating on her.She moved away to college and hadn't seen him since. After a bachelorette party Lil's is in trouble and the Kingsmen MC come to her rescue and Jay is there too and he takes her home. When Lil's learn her thoughts on Jay cheating on her was completely in her head and he actually didn't do anything she gets back with him but she is still in trouble with the other club and they want revenge on her. This book was very quick to read, it flowed well and the storyline was great. Tara Oakes has done a great job. There was quite a bit of steaminess but it worked well with the book. There was also some suspense added into the mix. If you like biker romance/suspense you will love this.
From the very first paragraph, this story sucked me into the MC world. I have read other MC series, but this one is raw, sexy, steamy (yes there is a difference), and very emotionally challenging in a way that I have not come across an any other books. I love Jay in all his bad boy glory, but also love that he had a soft side he kept hidden to all but a select few. Lil is such a fun, strong female but has been through the ringer in her past and able to come out the other side stronger and more vibrant. Do be warned that his book has a cliff-hanging ending that will leave you reaching for the next book in the series immediately. I can't wait to see where we go next on this fabulous rollercoaster ride!
I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. For being a novella this book packs alot of story without rushing and it gives you alot of backstory on the two main characters Jay and Lil. This novella has it all drama, excitement, and some off the charts sex scenes that are well written and not too focused on. If your not a fan of cliffhangers then I suggest you not read this seeing as this has a major OMG WTF ending too it. For being a debut author Tara really hit it out of the ballpark with this book and I look forward to reading more from her and cant wait to read book two when it comes out.
First off I want to. Say NOOOOOOOO! How could you do this to me???lol ok ok here goes! Lil is one strong sexy woman who ran from her first and only love because she what she thought happened! Jay is a VP of a motorcycle club and Lil was/is and will always be his ol lady no matter what! When things happen and she's brought back to the club things go a bit crazy! I can't wait for the next book it was so awesome that I couldn't put it down and I need to know and read so much more of Jay and Lils story!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, betrayal, danger, suspense, and heartbreak.
This is Lil’s and Jay’s story. Lil’s and Jay have loved each other forever. After seeing something she ran away and built a life. She attended a party and is now in deep trouble that only Jay can get her out of. Can she live with Jay and be with him without her thought drifting to the past? She still loves him but will being with him again ruin her?
I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next part of this story.
This is a MC book that has plenty of steam factor and a juicy plot line that will keep you turning those pages just as quickly as you can. I started out the story of the Kingsman and fell into the book and the characters. We meet Sassy as hell Jula (AKA Lils) and Jasper (aka Jay). We learn all about their long history together and see how they make it back to each other.
There is plenty of twists along the way and a whole lot of biker hotness. The steam factor is off the hook! Tara Oakes knows how to write a biker story and throw in the hotness needed to write an awesome sexy scene.
This book was sent to me by the author for a honest review.
HOLY F....CLIFFHANGER! My second experience with a MC book and I found myself very much enjoying this and easily being pulled into this world. I really liked the switching between the present and the past allowing one to get to know the couple and their history. There is still much yet to be revisited and that ending!! Aaah! I have to wait until October for more! And will for sure do that! Must have now!
If you like MC romance you'll LOVE this one!! I would suggest buying the whole series before you start reading though. This book will draw you in to the point where you'll resent taking the time to write a review and find the next book in the series before you can continue on to the next part of the story.
I'm so involved in this book I've been up all night and can't wait to start on next one as soon as I finish this review!!! I'm literally hanging on to the edge of my seat to find out how Jay is gonna save lil!!! THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!! I'm so in love with with Jay!!!
