4.0⭐ An excellent, practical guidebook that doesn't hesitate to list the 'cons' of the country, along with its many pros. Well illustrated ( but not chocked-to-bursting) with coloured photos and simple maps of the major towns and attractions. It spends less space than other quides on hotel and restaurant listings ( still plenty of options) and more on things like where to get good maps and where to get laundry done. Obviously put together by people who love the country and who have spent time there. Compact yet comprehensive.

Amazing, love the readable format, gorgeous pictures, breakdown by region, in depth info on bus travel & a decent range of accommodation & activity options (budget travel or more $). Enjoyed the brief history of the country as well. Can't wait to visit :)

This Rough Guides was good when informing about all the places which was on our itinerary, it has à lot of information àbout planning à holiday though. Given that our holiday to Costa Rica was planned by an external agency, I feel it lacked information about Costa Rica itself, I would have expected more cultural information, and more about food and things to see, with more information about popular locations.

All in all our holiday was fantastic, but à bit more information about the areas and parks we visited would have been nice.
