Hold On! by Peter Darley is a fun, fast-paced guilty-pleasure read: a roller-coaster thriller of government conspiracy, murderous cover-ups, and cliffhangers, all underlaid with a burgeoning romance between the dashing hero and the damsel he rescues, plus the nagging enigma of the man's mysterious past.

Brandon Drake, grievously wounded saving a fellow soldier in Afghanistan, was sent Stateside and somehow put back together again, but while serving in a military research laboratory he uncovers a

I gave up on this book half way through chapter 14 when Belinda, who after trusting her life to a complete stranger, then practically drags him into bed at the first opportunity, as well as insisting that she would prefer to stay with him than go home, suddenly admits to having been sexually abused by a priest as a teenager; therefore has trust issues. Are you joking! I feel the author is trying too hard to make it exciting by putting every possible scenario in the story. It was really too much. ...more

One of my friends told me about this book and I thought that it looked interesting so I decided to download it. Belinda is working when her company is shut down by terrorists. She gets rescued by Brandon who is an AWOL soldier. Brandon is every woman's dream! He's strong, handsome and very tough. He has a deep secret that he is trying to keep and must stay hidden. He takes Belinda back to his cabin to keep her safe. The couple ends up falling deeper in love and I loved how this book played out. ...more

Action packed

This is a great love story and action packed book. I really liked the intrigue and futuristic weapons, tho they probably do exist or close to it. A very good read, waiting to start the next one.

When Carringby Industries are raided by supposed terrorists Belinda is rescued by the tall, muscular and handsome Brandon. At that moment she knows her life is about to change. Brandon is an AWOL soldier who is on the run after finding documents that prove the attacks are not terrorists but his

Good story but it's what I call a "run-on" book! Have to read book two to get any satisfaction from the story; at least, I hope things are wrapped up in book two! I absolutely hate books like this but unfortunately, I didn't know it would end like this. Now I know why some people read the ending first...

Author Peter Darley takes an amazing approach to his ‘Hold On’ Romantic Suspense Thriller Series. ‘Hold On’ is book one in the adult series and it is FREE to all readers who crave action, mystery, conspiracies, romance, science fiction and heart stopping thrills.

The author’s approach may be unorthodox, but it might be genius because after reading ‘Hold On’ I am convinced that you will want to purchase the next books in his trilogy.

Forty seven intense chapters introduce you to his two main charac

Hold On - Season 1 is an action thriller like no other I have ever read. It kept me on the edge of my seat - sometimes I couldn’t even sit down as I swiftly turned the pages. It’s a no-holes barred unforgettable story packed fulled of action, thrills, surprises and breath-stopping adventures.

The main character, Brandon Drake, is an enigma. Even he doesn’t know who he is. He is on the run after he discovers a government conspiracy. He needs to keep one step ahead of these government officials

I'm giving 'Hold On!' 3 1/2 stars due to the story line. It had quite a bit of thrilling scenarios, cool gadgets and a plot that kept me glued to the pages. The only thing I felt lacking was some of the dialog. It felt forced at times. Some of the mannerisms depicted didn't match the overall persona of the characters. I liked the action and the fast paced story though. The characters were good. I had read previous reviews and saw how Belinda's character was questioned when it came to her feeling ...more

"Suspend belief"

It may be described as an action thriller but it reads like every comic book hero you've ever encountered. Not for me.

interesting concept to write like a tv serial. The story starts out slow but picks up fast. I believe in beginning we need the pace that’s set so we can learn our characters and they can begin their journey of trust, love and danger. Throughout there is wariness towards Brandon. He’s a great guy but you wonder his real story and when you learn it wow you’ll just feel for the guy. Now he has so many questions and no one to really help him. Belinda is a character I waffles with. I wasn’t really su ...more

Darley is a good storyteller with an active imagination. Unfortunately, the book reads like a script instead of a novel. Each character, no matter how inconsequential, was given a background story and described in detail. This takes away from the action and slows the story down. Overall, I did not find the story fast paced enough for this genre. I often felt that the story was too slow and filled up with mundane details. Certainly the time that Belinda and Brandon spent in the cabin was mundane. ...more

I actually didn't get through this book. I just can't get into it. The writing style is not comfortable for me and the story (as far as I got with it) didn't pull me in. The ratings on Amazon and her were pretty high so am not sure why I didn't care for the book. Don't let this review stop you from checking it out but it just wasn't for me.

Though the language is uncomplicated, the story is fantastic - in every sense of the word - and carries you along with pace. The plot - though frightening - with the romantic aspect, you can't help but root for the hero and his lady.

I almost gave up on this book. I almost moved on without finishing.

Instead I kept reading because about halfway through the need to finish struck me.

It was very much MI6 meets Batman meets Wolverine. However not quite as good as any of tem. It held it's own anyway.

Started off great, fast paced and action packed then slowed down to a crawl. Glad it picked up again around the 60% part. Good ending but left a cliffhanger ending.

Normally I would not have given this book a second look. But it was "free". What a great adventure ! Detailed characters and never ending excitement. Looking forward to more in the series.
