I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock

Violca is a strong, young woman who is raising 4 younger sisters, when her parents passed away in an accident, she dropped out of school and started working a job so she and her sisters could stay together. What Violca does not know is that she and her sisters are the last of a very special line. Because of this there are so many people looking to find them and use them as they see fit. Even though Violca and h

Has potential but ... amateurish

The author tells and does not show, changes verb tenses within the same sentence, and uses passive voice far too much when active voice would greatly improve the flow and keep interest alive. I didn't get much past the second chapter before deciding not to waste my time. My advice to the author: get an editor and have him help you rewrite the story. Your book has potential, but right now it reads like a mediocre high school writing assignment.

There were parts of this fantasy story that I absolutely loved. There were also some aspects that dropped it to a three star book for me.

Let's start with what I loved. Violca is the oldest of five sisters, raising them on her own, after a terrible tragedy that took both her parent's lives. The relationship between the sisters was so lovely. The sisters, Violca, Eva, Angyalka, Sari, and Kati, live in their family home together

Wonderful Witch and Shifter Paranormal Romance

I very much enjoyed this book. The story line was intriguing and lends itself to what could be a good series. I hope their will be more books as I want to see what powers the other 4 sisters have, who they will mate, and I want to know more about the Dragon king. I loved Chase and Violca's story. The pace of the book was good, the romance developed in a realistic manner. And I just loved Violca's sisters. They were all precious and supportive. They o

Violca's Dragon is book one in The Dragon Ruby series by Leilani Love.

LLove is a new author to me. I am torn over this book. It has potential, but the writing was choppy and other things just didn’t work for me.

The transitioning between the scenes and the characters POVs where not smooth. The story was mediocre and none of the characters stood out. They where all just their. Also I whole book felt slow with the plot and romance. It made it hard for me to read and get into

It's always fun to find a new author, a new series and Lelani Love has rewarded me for my search. Her Dragon Ruby Series starts off wonderfully with Violca's Dragon.

In a world where the supernatural must stay hidden, life has always been interesting but a split in the Dragon First Family has caused a war and the Supernatural world is choosing sides. It's an all out search for a family of Earth Witches, from the original line. Always before, it's been one fem

After reading a string of mediocre books I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciated stumbling upon "Violca's Dragon." At first I was concerned that this was going to be another cookie cutter paranormal romance; but, what truly sealed the deal for me was the strong family connection between the characters.

Violca Grey is the oldest sibling of five girls. When her parents perished in a car accident, she leaves college, is dumped by her boyfriend because she chooses to take care of her sisters

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

I am delightedly torn over this book. I found myself fascinated with the characters and the plot through the entire book as well as wishing the author had left out the more 'erotic' scenes.

I personally thought that the romance, while not bad, de

What a fabulous start to a series !!!

This is Viloca and Chase's story. Viloca has been caring for her sister's (Kati, Angel and Eva) following the death of their parents. Viloca starts to have dreams of the future and then she meets Chase Reed, who is a dragon shifter. My inner delighted squealed at the premise of a shifter brother for each sister......I had them all mentally married off.....yes, I am that organised

"3 out of 5 stars! Five sisters find out there is more to this world then what they knew when others come into their lives to try to protect them from those who would like to use them for evil gain, in the process they learn more about their parents and their pasts then they originally knew.

This unique novel takes the typical paranormal romance situations and throws them into a contemporary setting. Typically, I would like the idea if the romance works out but in this case, it just made me feel

I love dragons and getting to know someone's dragon was too good to pass up. I am glad I didn't. Violca and her four sisters are all great characters. Chase, Scott, Brandon and Eryk have the job of keeping them safe. Violca's Dragon has great world building and character development to go with an interesting story. The twists and turns in the story line kept me reading and kept the story fresh. While there is a solution to part of the problem not everything is solved. It does not end with a clif ...more

Bad writing is bad, people. This is written in third person present tense. NOTHING SHOULD EVER BE WRITTEN IN THIRD PERSON PRESENT TENSE; or very very few things and certainly not this thing. What's worse, it can't even keep it's ridiculous third person present tense straight, with sentences like this: "As soon as she was able to drive, she took their dad’s Corolla and helps with transporting the kids, mainly taking them to school or running errands while Violca is still at work."

Nope. Nop

The tenses are a bit weird. I mean, sometimes the past tense is used for the narrative but then she switches to present tense. And there are some problems, also, with punctuation.
I found lovely the way Chase had to "chase" Violca at the beginning to win her trust.
The story is full of action, love, adventure and mystery. It's fast- paced and since the chapters are short it makes it really easy to read.
The sisters are a delight. So fun and entertaining, and the boys are, as expected, heroic and se

A terrific tale of dragons, shifters, witches and magic.

We have a family of witches who don't know their abilities or the danger they are in. The girls are living a normal life after their parents are killed. There are evil forces out to get the sisters and try to use their powers to dominate. Violca, the oldest sister, is drawn to the shifter sent to protect them. It's great how Violca deals with learning of their abilities while protecting her sisters and dealing with her feelings for her dra

It took me a couple of tries to finish this book, but in the end I enjoyed it.
I think my biggest problem with it was simply due to a pet peeve, I don't like it when one of the main characters is kept in the dark about something, especially something important or crucial to the plot.
Will definitely keep an eye out for future books in this series....

I really enjoyed the story. I was loving the relationships with the sisters and the men who swore to protect them. I disagreed with many things Violca has said in regards to her sisters when raising them. I just wonder what is going to happen next and where exactly Viktor stands in all of this.

What a great find!

This story will capture your heart as five sisters who know nothing of their fate do their best to continue to live after losing both parents. Lots of twists and turns in the story when shifters come into play turning their lives upside down. I'm looking forward to the next book. This is a well written story with great characters.

"Violca's Dragon (The Dragon Ruby Series Book 1)" by Leilani Love was the first writing this reader has read by the writer; perhaps more time should have lapsed between the excellent book she had just finished, and the start of this one as it befuddles her all of the kudos given on the tale. Grammar, spelling and punctuation were not error-free, but fairly abundant. The plot was extremely difficult to follow. Does the writer not understand how to use transitions from one scene to the next? Love ...more

>Book Review – Violca’s Dragon

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the Dragon Ruby series and ends in an HEA. Chase, a dragon shifter, is assigned to discover if 5 sisters are the 5 Earth witches of prophesy. As Chase and his panther shifter friends, Scott and Eryk, get close to the sisters, Chase discovers the oldest sister, Violca, is his mate.

I accidentally started reading The Dragon Ruby series with book three, Kassandra's Wolf, and having enjoyed the book so much and wanting to know more about the characters in the book, I found the rest of the series that had been published so far.s

Violca's Dragon is the first book in the series, and the beginning of the story. Violca is the Hungarian for Violet, which I found a neat connection to as my children are part Hungarian, their grandparents on both sides are first generation american bor

I think this might actually be the worst book I've ever read? The author continually chooses the wrong parts to show or tell, (a tip: does the thing you are describing contribute to the plot, the character developent or the worldbuilding? Yes? Show. No? Tell.) the male lead is literally stalking and lying to the female lead through most of the book (He sabotages her car so she'll let him drive her home!) but this is glossed over because 'destined mates' or some crap, another adult male character ...more

An okay storyline which could have been developed better with more world building. The characters where likeable but again it could have done with more character building. There are quite a lot of repetitive statements and language used. Also the main female character was too trusting never really getting to the bottom of why they were being followed and being kidnapped the first time. There is also some sexual content. Although with all this said I enjoyed the book. Good for a quick cheap r

At 41% really nothing happened. We meet Violca who is the most perfect being ever to exist and she is raising her 4 perfect younger sisters. There is something about possibly being witches that could save or destroy dragon shifters but not to much detail on that. Really just boring, had potential and I wanted to like it but I kept taking breaks to read something else so I finally threw in the towel.

Hm - not sure if this was supposed to be the proper book, or just a teaser of the first couple of chapters. I downloaded this from instafreebie under the impression it was the full book.
I quite liked the characters and the narration style so far, and what I could glimpse of the plot from a handful of chapters. Basically, this "book" was just the introduction to the main characters and a hint of the plot.
Good enough to make me look at the others in this series and get them.

Family Secrets

Talk about action packed, paranormal species, lies, deceit and surprise powers! Great adventure that will keep you holding your breath! There are some tense issues where the writer flips from first person to third and back again. Absolutely love how the sense of family and unity is carried on even though secrets were kept from the sisters growing up. As soon as I am able I will be diving into the next book ~

Slow starter but then becomes a certified read.

I chose four stars because it was very slow reading at the beginning and I even thought of abandoning reading this book but I guess wanted to find out more about the Dragon the story was going to be about. It then became more interesting and I didn't want to put It down. All in all of you will hang in there you will really enjoy the book and look forward to the next book in the series.
