When a plane crashes in the woods near Jess’s home, the boy of her dreams falls out of the sky—literally.

But David’s not here to find a girlfriend. He’s from another planet, and if Jess can’t help him get back to his ship, he’ll be stuck on Earth with nothing to look forward to but the pointy end of a dissection scalpel. But her father runs their house like an army barrac

This book was amazing! I loved every minute of reading it! Such a fantastic, sassy and interesting take on aliens!
So excited to see what happens in the next book!

Spoiler-free review:

This book was such a fun read! I flew through it for a couple reasons:

1.) The writing style=phenomenal

2.) The characters= hilarious and cute as hell

3.) You wouldn’t think that an alien book, where the aliens are actually confused by how foreign Earth is to them, would be a unique spin on an alien story but-at least with the alien books I’ve read-it is. The only alien book that I’ve read that has even come close to doing this before was Alienated by Melissa Landers but I thin

Fire in the Woods is a sweet fall read. The Lux Series meets Alienated, this book will have you feeling giddy. If you know me then you know I LOVE ALIENS!!! I can never get enough. But what do I love more than just aliens??? Star-crossed alien human love! I don't think I can stress enough how sweet this book was. When Jess is running to the store to pick up some photos she decides to head through the woods where she

I read this along with one of my really good book friends so it made reading this book even more fun! She was actually the one who really introduced this to me. Basically by saying it’s about aliens and is a little similar to the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Now if you know me and have seen my reviews, you’ll know I’m a HUGEEE JLA fan and the Lux series is one of my all time favorite series. So to find another book that has

Ooooh. ALIENS!!!

Oh but he doesn't look like that though. Yep, you guessed it. He's Hot! Which is never really a bad thing (for me at least) This reminds me so much of Kyle XY and the start of Smallville. Are you guys familiar with that? A big unexplainable thing has exploded and the next thing you know there's a weird and good looking guy hunching in the woods! To bad for Junie because her Dad is the head of the team that's looking for your alien. That would

I’d heard a lot before release day about this book, and while aliens aren’t usually my favourite thing to read in YA, after I heard a comparison to the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout it was a must-read. I owe a lot to that series (though I haven’t read the final book…) since it introduced me to book blogging and without which I would probably be watching tv right now blissfully ignorant to the fandom life; but I’m going off topic, because what I was getting at (somewhat slowly) is that Fir ...more

No. Just... No. I had oddly high expectations of this book and I don't even know why. This was a big disappointment for me and it took me about 2 weeks to read this book.

Jess is kind of an idiot. She meets this gorgeous guy in the middle of the forest, who obviously has no clue about anything. And there's a missing fugitive and she thinks "well, this guy can't be that guy. He just happens to be in the forest and he is wounded and he doesn't want to be found. No way he could be the missing perso

!Fire in the woods began appearing as a poor paranormal romance and ended as an epic sci fi tale. Having only read a mere handful of books incorporating aliens I was happily thrilled by what Jennifer M Eaton has written. The first half of the story wasn't much, merely a build up to the epic second half that saw the introduction of the aliens, and the narrowly avoided alien apocalypse.
The alien species within the novel are absolutely fascinating and i can't wait to read more about th

I really enjoyed this book as part of Benjaminoftomes' read-a-long! I thought the romance was adorable and very teenage innocence. David was so cute and I loved how Jess was portrayed as the stronger care taker in the first half of the book. It was easy and fast to read. Having read the first chapter for the sequel I'm a little annoyed that the author is taking that angle but who knows, it might be interesting. ...more

Fire in the Woods has everything a young adult, sci fi romance should have: action, adventure, a snarky, head-stong heroine and a cute, innocent, hottie alien that bares a strong resemblance to Taylor Lautner (though he's not mentioned as such in the book. That's just my vision.)

From page one, the action keeps the reader engaged, from low-flying military aircraft, to explosions, to confrontations with Major Dad. Our heroine, Jess, is determined, she's got an agenda and she's not going to stray f

Fire In The Woods drew me in within the first few pages. The story takes right off with a crash on the military base that Jess and her dad are living on. When a couple days later, Jess finds a guy in the woods, she starts to wonder whether he could be the guy that her dad and the entire military base is looking for. When it turns out that David is not only the guy everyone is searching for (and considered dangerous), but that he is also an alien. Jess goes on t

Do you love aliens? Are you obsessed with places out of this world? If aliens ever came to Earth, would you cheer "take me to your leader"? If so, then Fire in The Woods is a must read for you!

I loved, loved, LOVED reading this book! Jennifer Eaton took my breath way with her creative characters and exciting alien adventure. Her alien humor was off the charts, and she had me guessing at every twist and turn. This one was a very fast and amazing read. Full of adventure, mystery, and romance, Fir

Jess dreams of being a professional photographer but he dad is less than thrilled by the prospect. When a plane crashes in the woods near the base he tells her to stay home but how can she miss the chance to get the shot so she sneaks out. It’s when she sneaks out that she encounters her perfect guy who has all the celebrity features she likes. But there is something different about him but she’s not sure what exactly. When he finds her in his home it’s clear to Jess that maybe he’s not the huma ...more

I read the first two books in this series over the course of two days, basically. My actual reading time was probably 4 hours total. Because I was so in love with the concept and the writing and the characters that I couldn't put it down. This is shaping up to be one of my new favourite alien invasion stories and I cannot wait to see where the next book goes!

I thought this was a really good example of the dialogue f

My eyes narrowed. "You can't be from another planet. That's called science-fiction. Accent on the fiction. It's not real"

Oh wow, where do I begin with this book. I guess I should start with the premise. The whole alien and human romance thing, strangely enough, wasn't the first thing that jumped out to me with this book. The thing that really pulled me in was the idea of this 'genocide-sized secret', then it was the romance because

I didn’t want to put this book down. Jess Martinez crept inside my head and heart, and leaving her in the clutches of the disasters she faces felt like a betrayal. But I had to cook dinner for my family. And sleep. Life gets in the way at times!
Jets zoom overhead on the first page. A fiery crash introduces the Major’s solider side and Jess’ love for photography. Action accelerates from that moment and gives only a few reprieves. I suggest taking deep breaths during those moments.

Where do I begin? I adored this book a lot more than I thought I would. I’m a sucker for alien books and this one is definitely one of my new favorites :). The characters were so sweet and I loved David. At first, I was just enjoying it but after about thirty pages, I couldn’t put it down! I also loved that the aliens were actually aliens (no really?), not just humans from another place. Aliens with cool features and unique names/language (not many books I’ve read have made up names/words that l ...more

This is a real mush-mash of good and not-so-good elements. The writing is ok as far as being easy to read and understand. The editing job is ok as well. I like the plot idea a lot but the execution needs some work. There are good points in the book I enjoyed but the inconsistencies took away from the read. Character development felt rough and jagged. With some polish that can be remedied easily enough. Overall it's an easy read and definitely for the romance readers. I received an evaluation cop ...more

I need Ashes in the Sky now!

This book...so good! I still don't want an Alien Invasion/apocalypse because what if David didn't save the world! Speaking of David, his and Jess's relationship, I loved it. It was cute, funny and...other words I cannot think of right now. The only issue I had was that the time of day kept changing. Like one minute it felt like night time, but it was really the middle of the day. I got over that.

But, Jennifer Eaton, if you see this, hurry up and release the sequel (

Jennifer M. Eaton hails from the eastern shore of the North American Continent on planet Earth. Yes, regrettably, she is human, but please don’t hold that against her.

While not traipsing through the galaxy looking for specimens for her space moth collection, she lives with her wonderfully supportive husband and three energetic offspring. (And a poodle who runs the spaceport when she’s not around.)
