There is a Japanese series about Aya that I loved so much. It was heart touching, it made me cry many times!
I really recommend watching this before reading this diary.
☙ And here is a link to watch the series.
It's about a 14-year-old girl "Aya Kito" who had a spinocerebellar atrophy which made her lose her body's balance gradually and progressively until she couldn't walk.
Then she lost her ability to eat properly, she could choke and die if she was alone.

There was a series for this book which I thoroughly loved. It was a certified tear jerker. I really felt like I did shed a liter of tears. I hated the fact that Aya was so pretty and intelligent, and yet she was burdened with a disease that she didn't even deserve to have. So because of the series I got curious and I wanted to know more about the real Aya.Not the actress that plays Aya's character. I wanted to know the true, unbiased and unedited story behind Aya's disease. Unfortunately it was n

The book that I have read is the book called, One Liter of Tears. This is a true story based on the diary of a girl, Aya who was infected to heavy disease, spinocerebellar degeneration that a person's cerebellum and spinal cord stops functioning little by little and the person become physically handicapped as the disease gets worse. I chose this book to read because my father had read this book before and told me that this book teaches many things that I need to know in life. I had other books t

These words were written by a brilliant and inspiring Japanese girl known as Aya kito, who suffered from spinocerebellar degeneration.
Despite her progressive incurable disease, she didn't stop learning and managed to graduate from Okazaki High School for the Physically challenged.
Sadly, Aya went to eternal sleep at the age of 25 years and 10 months, on May 23rd, 1988.

For the record, I haven't watch the drama yet, but, I did watch the movie. The biggest differences the drama/movie with the diary is the romance plot. There's no romance in the diary. It was added to the drama's script, as requested by Aya-chan's mother, because she wanted 'Aya-chan' to have a romance life even if it's just an acting.

This book was so touching. It's my first time crying over a book. I felt for Aya, I feel so much inspiration that if I were diagnosed with the disease that she had, I would fight just like her. I know that is easier said than done but still it was so touching. I have also seen the drama that was based off of Aya's story and it made me cry so much. This is definitely a book that should be on everyone's reading list, just reading this and seeing how simple tasks we take for granted like, walking,

It is impossible not to cry when you're reading this. Aya can be considered as one of the most strongest persons that the world had. I found this book after I saw the title of the Dorama immediately I started to search the story and found out the book. I've read her diary, I've watched her Dorama and movie and yet I can't stop crying.

Aya’s diary is a very sad reading, but also inspiring at always doing our best, even if we don’t feel like it. She was a strong woman living with an horrible disease. She tells us about the changes in her body and her souls, her fears and her desires. She always had hopes to get better and never stop fighting for it. Everyone should read her words to understand how it really is to live like she had to.
Aya-chan is a cheerful girl and full of life. She shows that we can always do our best in any situation. When the disease come, she did her best to cope with it.

Truly inspiring story of an unfortunate child who had a terrible disease. The story really showed what did she suffer, what kept her spirit to fight in the last days of her life.

Tear overflows onto her cheek and her words come out from her mouth hardly. Aya tries to call her mother but she is not able to do so because she cannot press numbers on the phone. Through this scene in the drama “One Litre of Tears," I first got to know “Aya,” a girl who suffers from a disease called "spinocerebellar degeneration." She was diagnosed with the disease when she was fifteen years old, and constantly wrote down her feelings and thoughts into her diary.

Entering 15 with an incurable disease ( cerebellar degeneration ), for Kito Aya, is not a death sentence. She wrote her diary when she first realized the symptoms and kept tracking down her thoughts in her diary. From her first symptoms like wobbly walking, a blurred vision, and the ability to hold things is challenge; to more severe symptoms like cannot speak, limbs couldn't move as her wish, she was then confined to a wheelchair. However, her will still stayed strong. She kept writing her diar

A year ago when i first read this book, it was really good. I was really into but for some personal reasons, i couldnt finished it. A year after, i bought this book and this time when I read it, I feel like Aya was whining too much. perhaps it was because i cant really understand what she has gone through, nor her pain, nor her embarassments, hence, i cant really say i enjoy this book. Easily the saddest story I have ever read as well as the most inspiring. This story was written by a girl who developed an incurable disease. From reading this, I gained a better understanding on the fragility of human nature and the need to be a writer who understands that human lives are fragile, but while humans are weak, they are strong beyond belief.

It really makes you appreciate the mundane things that we take for granted. No one ever thinks that something as simple as the ability to walk is a gift. Unfortunately, as it is translated from Japanese, there is a lot of reference to Japanese culture and daily life that the average person may not understand. Still... I would recommend reading this to everyone.
