4.5 Stars. Sebastian and Talia meet again a few years after their special masquerade night and this time, the past is gunning for them both. The plot kept me interested and firmly on the hook even though there's a little more predictability in this one. Great pacing and just enough suspense to keep me guessing. The characters had the opportunity to grow as individuals and as a unit. Sebastian is quite the dirty talker and the way he and Talia come together almost singed my iPad. The secondary characters were used well in the story to establish and move the plot along. I couldn't put the series down.
Safety: They were with others in their time apart. Heroine has a past of physical and sexual abuse.
However, there were a couple of things that bugged me: 1 - The end was too abrupt for my taste 2 - The heroine's reactions were not believable. I had a hard time believing that someone in real life would have the same mind set and attitudes.
Other than that, it was a pretty nice and entertaining read.
This is one of my favorites series, another go to if I'm in a book coma!!! Its been 3 years since Mr Black & Scarlett Red has seen each other. He Black, she is Red a rainbow master and obsession and passion when they are mixed together. So when Sebastian takes a case that red heads are coming up dead, Sebastian need to take this case because of the Red head he can't get out of his head. So as he is undercover as a pilot for Hawthorne Resort Talia is taking transportation to get to the resort. At one moment Talia believes the pilot resembles her Sebastian but when he takes off his shades his bright blue eyes stares back at her. Sebastian had one blue eye and one brown eye, he introduces himself as Bash and she introduces herself as her alias T. A Sloane but when she takes off her hat and reveals that beautiful head hair. Bash knows who exactly Ms Sloane is.
Bash tries to get Ms Sloane to forget she ever knew Sebastian and Talia keeps holding on to the one man who was her inspiration and rainbow master. No one even compares to the one man that saved her one night when she was 13 years old, not even the man she agreed to marry. Bash and Ms Sloane chase clues all over the resort to try and catch a killer before Talia is his next victim. So many twist & turns and chemistry between Bash/Sebastian/Mr Black HOT HOT sex with a dominate alpha. Worth a click Does Bash/Sebastian save Talia before he reveals who he really is and before he discovery who Talia really is?
So if you paid attention in Mister Black you'll have found out some reasons behind some actions as they come to light in Scarlett Red. Bloody brilliantly linking and plot building is all I'll say!
Now P.T. threw me a loop with the start, WHAT THE HELL! Did not expect that start at all after the ending of Mister Black but hey ho two pages and I was completely immersed again. The reveals in this book are perfectly done, but you are totally still left on the edge of that cliff wanting to know more. This is one of those stories that I would definitely not shy away from it is was a 600 page brick of a book, I'd be happy with that!
If you thought Mister Black was hot too, well then bloody hell hold onto your knickers because they're gonna be on freakin fire through this one too! Another thing I must say is how P.T. wrote about 'Bash' is was so well done, truly well put together. I can't say anything about Bash other than I felt her disappointment when she's fighting her past crush of Mr Black to want Bash but still feel like she's cheating..... a great add to the mix of the drama.
So if you think I'm just gushing too much well how about this there was a scene that didn't sit right with me, the cramping scene...... I was mega pissed at how that played out and it didn't seem right to me how it happened... There see, something I disagreed with ;-) Still gets 5 stars from me though ☺
This book centers around Hawthorne's resort this time and the spotlight more on Talia. She's fighting her attraction to Bash whose relentless in wanting her in his bed and protecting her. But she's also trying to find out what's going on with her 'Street Team and fans' yes she's an author. There's a great air of mystery, suspense and drama throughout Scarlett Red, it's great reading!
Again I reiterate what I reviewed in book 1, read everything, because everything has a purpose and skimming will not do your reading experience justice at all.
I cannot bloody wait till Blackest Red is out in early 2015, and thank my lucky stars I don't have to wait long! That bloody ending now - ARGHHHHH I need to know what's going to happen next!
I received a copy of Scarlett Red in return for an honest review, my reviews are my own and are 100% honest.
And so it goes! Whoa, Just when you think you got a handle on whats going on, another twist!!! I loved the 1st book story line! So far the perfect mix of Hot SEX, chemistry, emotion, intrigue, And " Sebastian" He is so freakin HOT! Sigh... A cliffy, but well worth the wait!!! Yeah, it's ALL about the guy for me! Lol.. Hope the next one is (coming) soon! Eagerly awaiting! ;)
My god! Scarlett Red was even better than the first book. I didn’t think it would be possible, but it happened. And, I must admit, I am in love with this series and the characters. P.T. Michelle has really created a H-O-T-T-T new series I just can’t get enough of.
I must say this one also took me a bit by surprise. I wasn’t expecting that twist, and I believe Michelle did a great job building up to that. Though I did figure a few things out in the story, there was one factor that really was intense. I honestly didn’t see it coming. The conflict of the story really pushed the plot along quite nicely. However, it was definitely the emotional aspect between Sebastian and Talia that was the true driving force – another aspect I just can’t get enough of. The buildup between Sebastian and Talia is intense, sparked with chemistry, and downright sexy. They each held a great amount of emotional depth that left me wanting more of them.
The sexy meter was just through the roof on this one! I can’t say too much about what Talia and Sebastian go through without spoiling the book, but let’s just say it was intense and very sexy! I also really enjoyed how events from the first book came back into the second book. Making it come full circle, yet still leaving the book wide open for more emotional events to take place. Michelle did good drawing all that together.
Now, I must talk about the characters. Talia is such a wonderful character. I love her driving force, her attitude to get things done and not sit back and watch things unfold. She’s had a bit of a rough time since the first book ended –Sebastian is always haunting her mind- but she doesn’t let that bring her down. She did slowly unravel in this book, but she definitely grew too. She’s a strong character and I enjoyed that so much.
Then there is Sebastian, very alpha male, very dominant and so sexy. I love that about him. I think Michelle did create a perfect dominant male persona, Sebastian. It’s been quite a while since those moments with Talia happened, and though time has passed, he cannot get her off his mind. I loved watching them get tangled up together, how they meet up again, and how their passion just kept getting hotter and hotter. Sebastian isn’t only sexy; he really is an amazing guy. Though he does have past scars, he has a very passionate and sweet side to him as well.
That emotional turmoil and intense connection drives the story so well. The buildup, the rise and fall of the conflict, and the emotional depth of the story was just right. It pulled me in and left me wanting more of the story and the characters. The development was right on the spot and the pacing was just to my liking.
MISTER BLACK was bursting with intense sexiness, but SCARLETT RED was combusting hot!
I feel like this was a completely different story than book 1 was, I mean was.
There were parts that matched up but there were parts that really didn’t. I won’t be continuing the series.
It was ok but it just threw me off. The narration was ok again she does a great job with the characters I feel that was why I finished because I really wasn’t connecting with the characters at all.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*
The first part of this second book was very slow and pissed me off for most of the time!! But the second half was really great, all the things I wanted to happen to improve the story actually happened. Finally the H and h opened up and began showing their feelings...and many questions were answered...and the sex was hot!!
This book picks up 3 year after book 1...but to me it seemed like 30 years has passed, because the way the writer had written the heroine and her activities for the first half of the book, it was like reading the life of a 50 years old woman and not of a 24 young girl.
I was thinking to DNF...when the book made a total change
I had though understood who Bash was and who was the killer...but what I appreciated from the second half is that finally this couple reunited and their feelings were reflected in their actions.
Why, why, oh why did the author go in the direction she did?!?!? At the end of the first book we are left with a cliffhanger. Not only that but we had the drug king pen issue. I was expecting the second book to pick up from there and delve deeper into those story lines.
This second book moves us forward in the future. We now have other suspenseful story lines to read about. Late in the book we do get some deets relating to the cliffhanger but, I expected it to be told differently.
I didn't buy the whole Bash storyline.
Then Sebastian.... Without giving away spoilers... I don't understand after all this time and what he's experienced, Why does he want for so little?
I found it odd that Talia so freely gave herself to Sebastian in the first book but then experiences what she does three years later.
Then... We end with another open ended story!!! Are we going to jump in the future again???
Now if I hadn't read the first book, I doubt I would have given the book only three stars. The author does a very good job at tying up some loose ends. But my mind was so consumed by the different direction, it was hard to enjoy reading this.
Wont pursue the third book. Cant get any connection with these characters and I will probably end up dumping the next book so its time to know when to stop.
After reading Mister Black, I couldn't wait to start part 2 Here- The chemistry Between Sebastian and Talia's totally hot! But it also freaks her out a bit, But They go waaaay back- He just wasn't getting All the dots connected until this story, with a little help from his sister he's figuring it all out. I just can't wait for them to get their sh¡# straight! Like Sebastian says :What we have,we have in Spades babe. Great story,Great characters and off the charts sex appeal-5 Stars
I enjoyed this book for the most part. I think I figured out who was doing stuff to Talia, but there was still a little surprise with that. Although looking back now, I can see where the author tried to change it up.
The chemistry between Talia and Sebastian is off the charts. I think that's where I start to get a little frustrated. These two clearly have been pining over one another for the 3 years they've been apart. But yet Talia keeps fighting about why she can't be open with him. They both seem to have some pretty strong insecurities as well.
The book has a little more angst than I usually care for in a book. I'm not sure why these two have so much drama between them. Hopefully, it gets resolved relatively quickly in the next book.
The book ends on a sort of cliffhanger. I'm very curious to see how this all plays out.

She’s done it again! If Mister Black left me dangling on a precipice, the follow up has had me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout this book which I guarantee you is beyond perfect! This isn't a standalone novel, so unless you’ve read the first book, don’t attempt to read this one because every small detail in this well thought out plot is of extreme importance from beginning to end. Trust issues abound, untold truths are rife, and the big question is whether or not the past catches up with the two protagonists, Talia and Bash.
"I'm not the only one still holding my cards close," he says softly."
Talia is just as confused by Bash’s persona as I was. Now out of job and concentrating on her writing, she will meet up with this drop-dead gorgeous Alpha male when she is cajoled into going to a resort by her aunt. She goes on the condition that her good friend, Cass, accompanies her, but Cass has the opportunity of a life time and drops out at the last moment. The first contact she has with Bash brings back nostalgia for the only person she has truly had any feeling for, Sebastian. She has gone to great lengths to protect herself by learning to live with her obsession for this mysteriously attractive man whom she gave herself to completely three years ago. He has ruined her for any other man and she knows it! She also has no idea that there is a lot more to Bash than meets the eye. Hence, a brilliant plot with twist and turns that absolutely enchanted me.
"I've never had to explain myself to anyone before, but for you, I'll try."
Bash has a job to do which I cannot possibly tell you about because it would spoil the book for you, but I will say this; his character is mind blowing! Even though I got a little irate with Talia at times, I loved the sassy banter and innuendos between both of them. And reflecting on the two books and how they have been so well woven together, I really do understand how Talia feels.
"Why is spending the night with me so embarrassing to you?"
The author’s ability to describe their personalities is quite incredible. This passionate read palpates each other’s attraction so much so that it simmers on every page. Of course, the build-up is nothing more than explosive. Ms. Michelle, you have written an unputdownable book. The grammar, vocabulary and editing is faultless. And as always, you have a way of making me want to strangle my Kindle at the end of the story, so to sum up in two words is easy; simply bravo!
I couldn't resist! Here are a few more teasers for you...
"Keep your legs where they are and trust that I'm a man of my word."
"I'm a starving man, cruelly teased by this gorgeous spread of Talia laid out like a five-course meal."
"I think you might've forgotten what rainbows look like, so it's my turn to show you exactly where to look."
Book Review - Scarlett Red by P T Michelle - ***** the plot thickens stars
When you get a series of novellas/books that blow you away with the first part, you are always wary of the next bit not reaching the same potential, but don’t worry, because Scarlett Red is full of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle for hours.
More than a novella like it was originally intended to be, obviously because the characters had a lot to inform us of, Scarlett Red starts with a flashback back into Sebastians past, which made me immediately go back and reread Mister Black. And when I did, well then that moment was a bit more poignant to me than when read originally. More flashbacks are interspersed with the story, to give you more of an insight into Talia’s life.
Talia is at a crossroads in her life. She’s moved on since she met Sebastian, but she’s still had to roll with the punches and finds herself flying out to Hawthorne at her aunts insistence, to get her out of the house and back into life.
Bash is standing in as pilot for his friend Trevor. When he meets Talia, he’s rude and treats her like she’s an entitled princess. Fighting her attraction to him, because he reminds her of Sebastian, Talia tries to shake off the feelings he evokes in her, and his attention.
However, it soon becomes clear that there is more going off at Hawthorne than meets the eye, and Talia may end up owing her life to Bash, as someone else is clearly trying to end it.
The chemistry between Bash and Talia spikes off the pages and it’s full of banter and sparks.
And then Sebastian returns on the night of the masked ball.
And you know what would be really cruel, would be to leave you hanging right there, at that line, wouldn’t it?????
Read, love, enjoy, feel the passion, ride the waves. Then skim back through for the answers to the millions of questions firing through your head. Some answers are contained within the story, others are still out there to be discovered in the final part. Then congratulate Patrice on a well written, elegantly wrapped story, that keeps you spinning around wondering which way is up. I eagerly await the final part.
Oh and just incase you haven’t read this before - SEBASTIAN IS MINE! (I licked him first).
This series is brilliant. I honestly didn’t expect to like it so much.
Sebastian and Talia met the night her life changed forever. Those few minutes with him give her some kind of purpose to fight and get over the tragedy.
When they meet again, 8 years later, none of them has any idea who the other is but it’s like they can’t stay away from each other.
One night of passion will leave an even bigger imprint on Talia than that brief meeting in the past, especially when she realizes who Mr.Black really is.
The first book is a little bit of an introduction. It’s where we meet the characters and fall in love with them.
The story is complicated because nothing is what it seems, nothing is simple. It gets even more interesting in Scarlett Red.
Three more years have passed and now, Talia, is a successful writer who’s just got her heart broken by her fiancé.
What starts as a trip to a resort where she can rest and recharge turns into a dangerous game, which might see her dead in the end.
Many things have changed in Talia’s life during the past eleven years but one thing has remained the same, a constant, maybe even grown stronger – her feelings for Sebastian.
She chose not to meet him three years back and she might never do so again but she never imagined she can be so attracted to anyone else, her ex fiancé included, until she sets eyes on Bash.
He’s everywhere she turns and takes it upon himself to try to find out who might want to hurt her.
Another masked party and three clues.
Sebastian is back.
She never expected to see him again and he never understood why she stood him up.
Talia and Sebastian have a lot of work to do to set things right but it’s not easy. While the passion and the attraction are still there, they both have changed. And there’s still the threat to her life.
This second installment was full with twists and turns I never saw coming and I cannot wait until I get my hands on the third installment since Scarlett ended in a cliffhanger.
I hate cliffhangers.
If you’re looking for strong, determined characters, action, intrigue passion and mystery this is the series for you.
Well done, Patrice!
Since my review covers both Mr. Black and Scarlett Red, so does the rating.
I loved this even more than the first one! I think it's because I love my mystery/suspenseful books mixed in with romance and this was one of those books for me.
Scarlett Red takes place three years later and it starts of with Sebastian's POV. Through his POV - which is a small flashback in the first half - we learn about what really happened to his mother. It doesn't completely fill in the blanks that were created from book one but it still gives me a picture of what Sebastian went through. I LOVE Sebastian. There's just something about him that's so enticing. He has this passion, this intensity that so alluring you just want to know more about him.
The next few chapters are in Talia's POV and we see how much has changed for her in the three years. She's a successful mystery author now, and working hard to do what she loves best. I absolutely love Talia. The way she is - her personality, the way she talks, thinks makes me love her as the female lead. She's stubborn that's for sure, but that stubbornness actually worked in her favor in a certain part.
In this book, Talia's aunt suggests Talia goes to a resort for a single's convention since she's been single for a year and needs to get out there. Talia reluctantly agrees and what was suppose to be a little vacation turns into a mystery Talia must solve. She finds out someone was impersonating her and she goes full investigative mode. But the pilot that took her to the island - Bash - is making it somewhat impossible for her.
This Bash guy has shown his interests in Talia, but Talia tries her very best to ignore his obvious interests.
I don't want to say too much about this book because I might accidentally give away spoilers. There are a some twists and turns that i couldn't have predicted. When the twists arrived I started laughing because I didn't have the brains to put it together. I love figuring out and coming out with theories to any mysteries.
I did end in a cliffhanger... not one that wants you to smash your head in and growl in frustration. But it's more of a huh? What's going on? What does this mean? kind of cliffhanger. I need more of Sebastian to understand him, to get to know him more. I can't wait to find out what happens in book 3!
First, this review was copied here today from Amazon. But I edited that review the other day because it had been a couple of years since I'd read this book, so I re-read it just within the last two weeks. I bought the book in 2017 (yes, I know, took me freaking forever to write this, didn't it?). When I brought it up on my Kindle to start reading it again, I realized, I loved every word all over again. I have always disliked most cliffhangers but this series of PT Michelle's about Mr. Black and Scarlett Red is the exception.
This second reading afforded me the chance to really READ it, since I already knew where the story was taking me. I LOVED this story. I laughed out loud at some of the exchanges between Bash and T, and I love dominant men so these two people were a great combination for me. Every so often, I wanted to clip T alongside the head for being so stubborn, but I so totally "got" her.
Book 1 in this series was one of the first in this genre I'd read - the steamy contemporary romance meets adventure and action. At the time I picked this up I was begging for a contrast to the then wildly-popular 50, and this was the perfect foil for it. First it was far better writing, the author skipped over the normal billionaire dominant and the poor, helpless and usually stupid virgin. Here was a man who was truly dominant, who needed to be dominant because of his psyche and how he was put together, and not a spoiled brat. The character of Talia is also perfectly written, a combination of curiosity, boldness, imperfection, and stubbornness and I feel in love with her from the first book to this one. I read the third in this series following this one, because I couldn't seem to put this book down. It was intelligent, and kept my interest. The books in this genre tend to be unimaginative and downright juvenile. This one didn't hit those sour notes. Now, onto Number 3, Blackest Red.
Don't hesitate to purchase this book, but I would suggest the entire series, since one book lends itself to the next, and then there's Calder and Cass coming up in the wings.
Let me start by saying when I read Mister Black, book #1, of the In the Shadows series by P.T. Michelle I was pretty sure any future books couldn't live up to the love I had for that book. Scarlett Red was every bit as good!
I have to admit Ms. Michelle had me reeling at the beginning of this book. I kind of liked Bash's cocky, carefree personality, but I think I struggled as much as Talia did with feelings of cheating whenever I would admit to myself that Bash was pretty adorable. Then I would convince myself that he was some kind of "bad-guy" put in there to get to Talia in some way. Seriously, I felt all kinds of bi-polar over this character.
I really love Talia as a character. She's had a tough life and is still so strong. Admittedly, she lost it just a bit in this book, but who could blame her? Falling for Sebastian in book 1 happened so fast and losing him was even faster. He just up and disappeared from her life and she's been left adrift ever since. Finally, she is working to claim back her life and deal with the loss that has haunted her.
Sebastian is one of my all-time favorite male characters. He's so alpha and sexy, but he's also sweet and an all-around great guy. He has his demons that don't want to let go, but it's not made him bitter or just plain mean. I really feel like once he and Talia confirm their past connection and share their stories his chance for healing will come.
The intrigue in this book wasn't overdone or cheesy. The sparks between these characters were off-the-charts hot! Not only do they have a connection that sizzles in the bedroom, but pretty much just whenever they are together. I love this series and this book.
" He is Black: a stealthy hunter and rainbow master.
I am Red: a truth seeker and desire keeper"
Scarlett Red is a stunner of a book. I got weaved in an increasingly complicated plot with completely out of the blue twists and turns. When I said that the previous book, Mr. Black was sort of a prequel to this , I had no idea it contained so much needed to understand this one. To say it is filled with clues and hints is an understatement.
Scarlett Red picks up three years after that incredible and fateful night between Talia and Black. They meet up in the most random way. There's one catch. Talia doesn't know it's Black. She has pined for him since she was 13 years old and she knows he is it for her. There are little moments where she is thinking of him that just made my heart weep. ( Having solo fun while wearing Black's leather jacket , which he gave her when they first met, for the last time as a way to say goodbye counts as emotional, right? )
So, as the book progresses and Talia and Bash .... bond, the plot thickens and more details and clues are left out for us. Some are not who they seem to be, past events were twisted, ice and lace are used in creative ways, a gripping mystery so seemingly simple I couldn't help but look for clues everywhere. NOTHING is as it seems.
Bash and Talia are on fire when together, the chemistry between these two sizzles and burns in the most delicious ways. The sex scenes are flawlessly and tastefully written: tons of passion, mystery, bossiness from Black, beautifully descriptive and some bondage-ish and spanking action.
Good God almighty! It's a cold fall day here and I needed my damn air conditioner while reading this one. You thought the sex in Mister Black was HOT? I don't think there is a word for how hot the love scenes are in this book! Sexual chemistry, hot dialogue and innuendos up the wazoo.
We meet back up with Talia and Sebastian in Scarlett Red and get some questions answered. But stop right there, you must read the first book in order to follow this one. It's not a standalone. I loved PT Michelle's attention to detail. The plot is full of twists and turns and very intricate. Scarlett Red takes place three years after Mister Black. We definitely get a lot more insight into Sebastian's character. Damn that man is a total enigma. A hot and KINKY enigma.
Scarlett Red went above and beyond my expectations. I am so glad PT made this a full length novel. If you like character and story rich books this one is for you. Simply put, spellbinding. I can't wait to see where this series will take me next.
Scarlett Red is the follow-up book to Mister Black and they must be read in order and make sure you pay attention to detail because these stories have a well thought out plot.
I loved 'Mister Black' it was so much more than I expected and I couldn't wait for 'Scarlett Red' and while I loved this book, I really did hence the 4.5 stars and I'm eagerly awaiting 'Blackest Red' there were a couple of things I didn't really like about it but I can't mention them without spoiling the story it also seemed a little contrived in places but that's not to say it's not a brilliant read because it is. My moaning aside this is a great read with not only great main characters but interesting supporting ones as well and that's it, I'm keeping it short because if I carry in I'll end up giving something away.
I enjoyed this more than the first book, probably because we get a little of Sebastian's POV throughout the book. He is definitely one sexy domineering alpha and I love reading his thoughts. Talia's character has grown, I still don't understand her reluctance on sharing her real name for most of the book but whatever. There is a mystery to be solved throughout this story and a serial killer targeting Talia look a likes to be caught. And let's not forget some real steamy scenes Bash and Talia!
All in all, I was quite pleased with this second installment and look forward to the conclusion of this story. On to book three now ;-)
Well this is definitely a pay attention to each novel. Black and Talia have a lot of dark issues they need to let go of together. There journey is rough because they have to learn to let go and trust. They don't know what they feel about each other, but they can't let go either. Tears your heart apart these two trying to make it right. Lots of darkness but hopefully their rainbow will come.
The first half of the book went by at a slow pace and the characters were irritating me. Finally the second half of the book something happened both character and story wise. But again it all felt flat with the ending.
