The Protector & The Girl With The Past

Travis Steele

Travis Steele has been on the periphery of the Heaven Hill MC for a long time. Quiet, he takes his job seriously. He is the protector of the group, in charge with keeping family and friends safe.

When one meeting with the sister of his friend turns into more, he struggles with where to draw the line. She needs a friend, and Travis prides himself in being what other people need, often sacrificing himself for others. As he discovers the life that Christine has been forced to live, it opens up old wounds, new wounds, and secrets that everyone thought long buried

Christine Stone

Christine Stone has lived through a lot since the day she was born. Her older brother left her without a backwards glance, leaving her with parents who wanted to use her to better themselves in their cult-like religious sect.

Days after legally becoming an adult, she’s given to an older man for an arranged marriage that will change her life forever. Escape is the only way her life can be saved. When she succeeds and sets out to make a new life for herself, she meets Travis Steele—communications and security officer for the Heaven Hill MC.

Turning a chance meeting into love is hard, especially when everyone has a dirty little secret.

I love this series. One of the things I appreciate is that the author lets us know something happens without giving unnecessary details. This is a wonderful couple and I eagerly look forward to Roni and Rooster's story.

This is one of those reviews that is hard for me to write because I loved this book so much and I want to give it the justice it deserves. I’ve had the honor of reviewing author Laramie Briscoe’s work since she released the first book in this series and each book has gotten better and better. Her writing has grown by leaps and bounds and I love that she continues to work to improve with each story she writes. Dirty Little Secret is the 5th book in her Heaven Hill MC series and it is the best to date. I knew this story would be special because the hero while a member of the MC is their resident geek. That’s not to say Travis Steele doesn’t do whatever they need help with, but he’s the one that keeps the MC and their secrets safe with his techie ways. Thing is Travis has a couple of secrets he’s been keeping from the club, one is his close association with a law enforcement officer that only the club president knows about and with the woman he’s been hiding. This is a gripping story of a woman’s will to survive, a man who vows to do everything to keep her safe, and the secrets that could possibly destroy the club and more.
When Travis Steele rescues a woman by the side of the road and later from her job stripping at Wet Wanda’s, he knows that she’s been traumatized in some way and he knows he will do everything in his power to help her even when he knows it could cost him his place in Heaven Hill.
Christine Stone has a reason to not trust men, but from the minute she meets Travis on some level she does trust him even though she keeps waiting for the day he expects some type of “payment” for his help. As time goes on she begins to realize that he isn’t quite like any man she’s ever known and she knows as some point she will have to face Jagger, Travis’ friend and fellow club member and her brother.
These two have an unusual relationship in that Travis really just wants to help Christine get past her fears and get her to see her brother. Yes, he’s attracted to her and yes he would like more with her but he knows that she needs time and he feels she’s worth the wait. I admire him for letting her see that he was a man of his word, for not pressuring her about anything, and for truly caring about her well being. There was no doubt Christine had been through hell but as her story unravels, it becomes clear it was way worse than anyone imagined. When the club becomes aware that Travis is hiding a woman, a woman whose existence can threaten the club some tough choices have to be made and fast.
As much as I enjoyed watching Travis and Christine move forward in their relationship and begin to realize how deep their feelings for one another run, there were so many other interesting developments in this book; developments that will change so much for the Heaven Hill MC and its members. In addition we catch up with many of the club members, their significant others, and meet a pretty interesting new character as well.
Once again author Laramie Briscoe has woven an intricate tale and wrapped me up in the world of this MC and these unforgettable characters. As much as I’ve enjoyed each and every book in this series, Dirty Little Secrets is her best work to date and I’m already looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Travis Steele and Christine Stone's story is beautiful.

Travis is a character I was unsure of in the first 4 books, he's been like this steady character in the background who has been supporting the higher brass of the club then all of a sudden in the last book he has this moment with Christine and it hooks you immediately.

Loved it Loved it!

But the story of Christine's fucked up life is just WOW!

Travis is a character that turns out to be this patient, endearing and caring soul that is smitten with Christine. Awesome!

Lots if feels in this one... My heart broke for Christine (and Jagger) and the lives they suffered through. I loved Travis for sticking with Christine even when he wanted to push her and get more from her. This was a story filled with lots of emotions and I know I felt everyone of them. It was nice to see the others in the club and how they've moved along in their lives. A great story that I'll definitely re-read!!

Great! Enjoyed! I did not want the story to end. I wanted Christine & Travis love story to continue to develop. I expected some sort of backlash or an OMG moment but I was relieved to read that the bad guy was taken down with the quickness!! Laramie, I loved the direction you took this story. PERFECT!! I'm ready for #6 - Roni & Rooster

I really liked this one Travis and Christine were cute together and Travis turned out to be a loving, gentle and patient man with a bit of alpha thrown in for good measure.
The only negative I have is that the bad guy was dealt with off page, I would have liked to see a bit of his comeuppance played out but not to worry it didn’t spoil the story.

Dirty Little Secret is the first book I've read by Laramie Briscoe and WOW! It most certainly won't be the last!!

Travis and Christine's story was so well written I felt like I was a fly on the wall with a front row seat to all the action! The suspense that surrounded their budding romance had me biting my nails in anticipation of what was going to happen next! Would they get there happily ever after or would the bad guy win in the end!!

I can't wait to catch up on the rest of the series and learn about each of the side characters and how they got there own happy endings!

Dirty Little Secret (Heaven Hill MC #5)
By: Laramie Briscoe
4/5 stars

Christine Stone is on the run, from a verbally, mentally & physically abusive, much older husband. It was an arranged marriage by her parents and her husband. She was never sure if it was because of her parents belonging to a cult-like religiously zealot church or if it was because her father owed the man money or if it was because this man had something on her father. Either way, her father wasn’t much better than her husband. Her father was also very strict and was also abusive to both her and her brother, Jagger. But Jagger left home the day he turned 18 which made her father even worse and that left her to deal with their parents on her own.

Travis Steele, the resident technical guru, is in charge of all things tech for the Heaven Hill MC and their families. He deals with all the cell phones, computers, security systems for the clubhouse, the garage and several homes and apartments for the various members and their families. You name it, he does it all. He is usually the quiet in the background type of guy. He’s the level-headed one that you turn to when you need some brain power. His mind is his most dangerous tool. But that makes him no less dangerous than his brothers.

When Travis first sees Christine, he is surprised by how much he is instantly attracted to her. When he finds out who she is, he wants to know more, but she takes off and it is only by a stroke of luck that he finds her. When he does, he goes about trying to make things in her life better for her. He can tell that she has had a rough time, but she won’t open up and tell him anything. So he is just patient with her and is slowly trying to bring her out of her broken shell. The one thing that she absolutely will not let him do is tell her brother or anyone else, where she is or where she works. She allows none of it.

The secret that he keeps, not only from Jagger, but from his entire club, wears on him mentally and physically. And eventually, others start to notice. At first, it is just the women in the club who see it and notice that he disappears in the afternoons once or twice a week for several hours. They are sure that it is all for a woman, and they are hopeful that Travis will also find love. All is good, until the brothers start noticing and to them he is acting shady and being sneaky. Which in their business can cost not only trust on the threat of betrayal, but it can cost the lives of the brothers and the innocents attached to them.

Travis will soon have to make a decision, or lose everything that has been his life. But on the flipside of that coin, he could lose Christine.

I’ve been hoping that Rooster would get a book, and finally he and Roni will be getting one!

Once again Laramie knocks my socks off with the Heaven Hill MC’s. Laramie Briscoe is one of my favorite authors so I was not surprised to find this book to be another one of my favorites!

This story belongs to Travis Steele and Christine Stone (Jagger’s sister). I was thrilled that Travis got a story and oh what a story it is. This book is a little bit tamer than the other books in this series. Which was great! The sex scenes were left more to your imagination. This book focused on the mystery/suspense and it was so well written. I was sucked right into this story from page one. I could not put it down. I was gripping the couch cushion with the mystery and suspense in this drama.

We get to see all of the characters from the other books (except for Denise) and each of the characters plays a specific role in Travis and Christina’s story. We see Jagger, Bianca, Rooster, Liam and Tyler very heavy in this story. We are set up just perfect for Book 6 Rooster and Roni’s story. I am so excited.

The emotional roller coaster we are taken on with Christina is heart wrenching. Laramie usually covers heavy subjects in her books and this is no exception. Travis, Christina and Jagger deal with the issues of child abuse, sexual abuse and domestic abuse. The subjects are all very well written and researched perfect. You feel as though you have experienced the trauma first hand.

I am such a Laramie Briscoe fan. I would highly recommend this book/ series and all of her other books to all. You will fall in love her Heaven Hill Guys and never want the series to end.

My Favorite Quotes:

The way the guys changed always amazed him. It didn’t make them any less dangerous when they needed to be in his eyes; it made them more dangerous because now they had something to lose. – Liam

He wanted to be what she needed because he desperately wanted her to be what he needed. – Travis

You matter; you’re worth something to me. – Travis

I don’t want you to live in fear. I want you to be happy and live the life that I know you can. I want you to live that life with me, but I need to be able to be the man that can make that happen. Help me.” – Travis

When he loved, he loved hard, and he knew that this woman – she could kill him and he’d go easily. – Travis

“I never once thought of giving up on you, You've gotta know that by now. I either love the f*** outta you or I’m a glutton for punishment.” - Travis

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I just LOVE this entire series so much...and while each book has had some really awesome characters and storylines, there is nothing I love more than a nerdy techno-geek wizard who just happens to be a hot biker. Seriously YUMMY.
Travis is such an awesome dude...underneath those hipster glasses and handsome face, he has a huge heart full of love to give some woman and an extremely smart mind to figure everything out.
When he meets (and rescues) Jagger's younger sister from a life of hell and agrees to hide her and protect her from the evil monster she has been married off to,(even though he's not even sure who it is she ran from) he reluctantly plays the role of not only a knight in shining armour, but therapist, secret admirer and betrayer of the trust of his brothers. It doesn't matter that he had to keep this big secret that wasn't his to tell, but by helping the woman he was falling for, he turned his back on his MC brothers by not trusting they would understand...as well as letting HER feel she could trust HIM with her secret.
This is a complicated story of a dysfunctional family and the misguided religious zealots who trade children for a place in the church as well as the complicated brotherhood who must trust to have each other's backs so they can live free and ride together in peace and harmony.
It takes some pretty drastic coming to blows before the air is cleared and Travis and his club brothers can work together to bring down the corrupt leader of the sect that stole Christine's innocence as well as taking the lives of many undeserving people. In the process, Rooster (the sheriff and ally to HH) comes to terms with his place in the lives of his friends in the club and makes some heavy decisions regarding his place in law enforcement.
This is a sorrow-filled but uplifting story of healing and forgiveness and learning to move forward away from grief and into a brighter, less fearful future. There are so many changes coming for everyone down the road and I can't wait until HH #6 and hopefully some more stories left unfinished will get their HEA.
An awesome and very bittersweet addition to the series...Laramie Briscoe definitely shows maturity and growth as a writer with each successive book!

This is the fifth book in this series and they should be read in order. This book focuses on Travis Steele and Christine, who is the sister of one of his MC Brothers. Travis is the tech guy for the MC. He is does whatever they need him to do. He is most at home in his cave that is until he meets Christine one fateful night. He meets her working at Wet Wanda’s. She is a new girl and he can’t help but feel a pull to her and then he meets her much the same way Jagger meet Bianca on the side of the road because of car trouble. He has been seeing her for the last couple months. Now the people of Heaven Hill MC are beginning to get curious. Some are worried more than others. Christine has run from an awful situation and is afraid of being found by the man she has run from. She hides out with the help of Travis. Except now she must face what she has run from. The man she has run from is very powerful and is threating the club and their families. Will she be courageous enough to let Travis in so he can help her? She may need to tell Liam some things as well so that he can form a plan. This book was interesting, Travis hiding the long lost sister of a fellow brother from him and falling in love with her. I love getting to read about the other characters in the book as well. These characters are so great. They are a family even if not by blood. This book was a little more emotional than some of the others. Christine’s story is so very disturbing. I can’t even imagine what going through something like she did would be like. Travis is there for her though and helps her. Then the rest of the club is there for her later. I think this is my favorite book in this series so far. I can’t wait to read the next one and already have it.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I seriously have a Obsession with Larmie Briscoe's Heaven Hill series!
Well really anything from Laramie she is one of my favortie authors out there.
I am so eager to see what she has coming next and I am never left un-satisfied.

Dirty Little Secret is Travis's story and it was just the prefect fit for him.
Travis is the Wiz of the club who does all the computer stuff and can find out info at the
drop of a hat it is pretty awesome. In book 5 Travis finds Christine Jagger's sister working as
a stripper at Wet Wanda's.He takes her under his wing gets her out of stripping.Takes care of her.
In the process he is keeping it from his brothers that he is seeing Christine. Christine happens to be on the run from a psychotic husband and is terrified of being found. It has some good drama
Travis is such a sweetie he doesn't rush Christine into anything, but he is slowly falling in love with her as they spent more time together. It takes Christine awhile to trust Travis because she has been threw so much her story is a sad one. I wanted to give her a big hug and tell everything would be OK.On the other hand I wanted to slap her silly and tell her open your eyes girl Travis loves you what are you waiting for!! Dirty Little Secret had the right amount of Drama and Romance. I don't think I can ever give Larmie lower than a 5 star she really deserves more she is such a fantastic writer.

I can not wait to see what book 6 has in store I am rooting for Roni and Rooster!!

Before dirty little secret was released I sent a PM to the author to ask her what the official release date was as the release date was only listed as June I had high hopes that the official date would be close to June 27th as that is my birthday and I was really looking forward to having something awesome to read for the birthday I simply love the Heaven Hill series so I knew dirty little secret was going to be a fantastic read ...
Laramie was so nice and as a birthday gift she actually gave me an ARC copy of dirty little secret to say she made me happy would be putting it lightly I was in MC Heaven ...
I actually made it a point to read the ARC and the official release copy of dirty little secret and I must say as always the Heaven Hill MC doesn't fail to be a fan-bloody-tastic read I have loved all of the books in this series it would be impossible not to love all of the characters with this book I think I actually fell even more in love with Travis in a lot of ways I think he was just softer than some of the other guys have been and that just made my heart melt I am so glad that this is going to be a very long running series the only thing that is ever bad about reading one of the Heaven Hill books is that once you read it its over until the next book comes out I am sad that its going to be a long wait for the next book to come out but its totally worth the wait I will be so happy when I get to read Roosters story

if you love MC based books this is a wonderful series for you I highly recommend it seriously click the buy it now button ... NOW !!

"We met Christine at the end of book 4. We saw Travis see her at Wet Wanda's and take a shine to her. Who exactly is she? What is she doing in town? Where do the ol' ladies of the club think that Travis is getting off to when he leaves for hours at a time every few days? What happens when Rooster leaves a VM for the club about going to the PO box? What do they find there? What is it that Tyler knows about that place and what happens when they go there? Who is Christine running or hiding from, or what? What happens when the club has to call in some reinforcements to help Tyler and the boys get away from the pickup point? Who do they call and what do they have to promise the reinforcements? As dark as parts of this book are at about 30% of the way into the book, there are some times to truly laugh as well. What was the catalyst that caused Jagger to leave the home he grew up in and leave his little sister, Christine, alone there with their parents. When she turned 18, what happened? What happened with the pastor from the church that the Stone family attended? When Christine was arranged in her marriage, who was she married to? Who is Clinton Herrington? What is he? What happens to Christine? Why does she run away and go into hiding? There are so many things that happened in this story that it just blew my mind. I cannot wait to read book 6, Roni and Rooster's story.

Another masterpiece for Laramie Briscoe. She is a breath of fresh air that keeps coming with every new book. She has become one of my favorite authors.
Travis Steele is the go to guy for anything technical in the Heaven Hill MC, but when he helps a woman whose car has broken down his whole world is flipped upside down. He falls hard for this mystery woman and becomes everything she needs and never thought she would be able to have. The only problem is he having to live a lie to have it. Will the lying be too much for him or will he finally get an Old Lady like the rest of the Heaven Hill MC.
Christine Stone is a runaway hiding from her poor excuse of a husband. Working as a stripper at Wet Wanda’s trying to hide her real identity is proving to be a challenge since her brother is a regular performer there. On her way home one night her world is turned upside down when Travis Steele decides to be her knight in dusty leather riding a motorcycle. Will she learn to trust again or will she run farther to get away from everyone?
This installment of the Heaven Hill series is full of twist and turns with just enough keep you on the edge of your seat suspense. There is some sex but in just the right places and does not over power the book. All in all a great read. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy today.

DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER
This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants, cussing (sometimes I cannot help myself) and a possible full on recap. I in no way want to ruin anyone’s book reading experience so please read my words with caution.

Christine Stone is running from a man that terrifies her to the very core. Her husband. When she was just 18, her father signed her away to a sadistic man who has a bit of an obsession to essentially be a slave. One night Christine got away and hid away in Bowling Green of all places. Little did she know that her brother, Jagger, who abandoned her sang at the strip joint she found work with. Before her brother discovers her, 24 year old Travis Steele intervenes. He sets her up with a job, car and fully secure house. When the shocking secrets of Liam and Rooster finally come out (why they are no longer friends), Christine is forced to make her presence known. Her husband wants her back and uses his powerfully connections to attack the MC. What happens when all the secrets start to come out? How will Jagger take his brother hiding away his sister and lying to them all?

"Gu we we're not the only two they have had a dirty little secret."

I love this series! I really enjoyed reading Travis and Christine's story. My heart broke for Christine and the things that she had been through. I am glad she had Travis there for her when she needed it most. He was so sweet and understanding and exactly what she needed to get her life started again. I also like that he was able to be tough with her when it was time to make herself known to everyone without being a jerk or hurting her. (Added bonus was the mental WWTD? moments. ;-)) The reunion with Jagger and Christine was something I have waited a long time for. It went a little different than I had imagined and wished for it to be a little more detailed. It just seemed like it all happened really fast but still happy they are in each other lives again. Overall I really liked this book. There were some secrets that came out that I didn't see coming so that was a nice surprise. I do wish it had a little more back story for Travis but maybe we will see some more of him with Rooster's story. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Travis was probably one of the Heaven Hill members that we knew the least about going into this book. He didn't seem to be very close to anyone and he always seemed to keep to himself. I wasn't sure what kind of character he would be.

Christine Stone is Jagger's younger sister, they haven't seen each other since Jagger left their childhood home years ago. She isnt the same girl she was then, she has lived in some horrible circumstances and is now a shadow of he person she once was.

Travis is the somewhat geeky biker, he is the hacker of the group and a genius with technology. Travis wasn't what I was expecting him to be in this book, I liked him a lot more than I thought I would.

I really enjoyed Travis and Christy's story, there was plenty going on to keep me entertained and I feel like I've formed a bond with this lot of bikers and their women.

This book like the previous had me captivated, I didn't really like the first book in this series because it seemed to flit from many people POV but i have to say that's something I have came to love in this series.

I’ve taken a break from the series for a few days and this is the first book on my second bite at the cherry but would it pick up where the earlier books had left off…silly question!
I was riddled with questions for much of this book, there was so much going on that it was almost impossible to find time to breath.
Travis liked Christine, he had from eth minuet eh laid eyes on her but there wasn’t much known about who exactly she was, where she had come from and why?
I loved the fact that she had a mystery rolling around her and I could have applauded repeatedly at the amount of content that we had that was purely club related, the guys were up to their eyes in the messy stuff!
When the secrets are revealed and the club connection become clear, I couldn’t help but smile. I really enjoyed the change of direction almost with this book, the fact that all of the guys were pulled into the story and that history was laid bare.
Some aspects were dark, yes but I laughed and I smiled as the story wove its way through each of their lives.

5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!!!

I'm going to be honest here and say that was the tiniest bit hesitant to start this book because the last two books were just okay for me but the book whore in me won out and I could just SMH for hesitating. Christine and Travis' story had me at the end of Worth the Battle so there really wasn't going to no way I wouldn't finish the series. It was just a matter of pushing the books back and waiting. I trudged on and the trudging didn't last long as I got suck right into the story and I have to say this is my favorite. It was just very surprising and I really wasn't sure how I felt about Travis from the previous books. I just love that though. When a character jumps off the pages all of the sudden and makes you fall for the them. Travis got me.
Christine's story was so messed up. It was heart-wrenching.
Okay, I'm motoring onto Roni and Rooster's story, Second Chance Love.

Travis Steele is the resident IT guy for Heaven Hill MC. He does it all; security, computer files, cell phones, and has cameras watching over all theirs and their friends. He sees a new stripper working at Wet Wanda's and thinks she's beautiful. On the way back to the compound he sees a car broken down and decides to help. It's the new stripper, Christine. Christine is scared and alone. She's been running, but Travis can't get out of her from who. He helps her, even getting her somewhere safe to live and watches over her. Travis Steele is keeping a large secret from his club and one of it's members in particular. He knows he should tell him, but he's been trying to win Christine's trust but she won't let him tell him. This is Christine and Travis’s story. Christine is on the run. Travis agrees to help her, but she made him promise to not tell her brother who is a member of the mc. Travis agrees but is not supper happy about it. He also knows if he does not agree she will run, and he will lose her. He helps her out but when a threat comes to the club that is about her, he knows the secret can’t be kept any longer. Jessica agrees to the protection of the club in order to escape her past. She needs to deal with her past and her brother. Can she build a life with Travis or will her past make her run from the club?

I recommend this book.

Christine, Jagger's sister, is in hiding and Travis is helping her. The problem is that she's too afraid to tell Travis who she's running from and why. The guys aren't going to let him keep sneaking away and he's faced with a dilemma: rat out the girl he loves or lie to his club. Neither option works for him. Circumstances force both Christine and Travis to come clean.

The plot if this one was just too much for me. There are at least three different corrupt sheriff's offices, religious zealots, Liam and Roni's dad's actions, and so much more. I spent more time rolling my eyes than anything. Also, I didn't really feel a connection to Christine & Travis. It wasn't terrible at all; it just didn't engage me as much as previous stories. Also, things are becoming just too outlandish for me. I get the whole "suspended belief" idea, but it's just not working for me.

This one was better than the last, the whole series is great. Travis, heaven hill's resident nerd/computer geek is realizing that all the members of the club have someone in their lives and wants what they have.
One nigh while at Wet Wanda's he meets the new girl, Christine. Christine has many secrets, being Jagger's sister is one, but Travis figures that out right away. Christine don't trust anyone, she is running and doesn't want Travis to tell anyone. But the @#it is going to hit the fan when her secrets start to become the club's problems. Needless to say Jagger is not happy that Travis kept Christine from him. The club is forced to protect once again. Though this was Travis's book, Jagger got a lot of play and was able to come to terms with his past. This one was one of my favorite. Tyler is still my favorite Heaven Hill members!! Hoping to get another book of Roni and Rooster.

Dirty Little Secret is about Travis Steele, computer tech for the Heaven Hill MC and Christine Stone, the sister of Jagger from book three. Travis happens upon a running from her life Christine and ends up keeping her safe from her abusive husband. What happens next is one biker falling for his friend's sister, and a sinister man setting his sites on getting Christine back.

Since the beginning, I have been looking forward to Travis's story. I've always had a soft spot for the computer tech who is always in charge of keeping his MC safe. He's a mystery and always in the background. It was really fun to see who he really is. Christine was a strong woman who was brave enough to leave her abusive, unwanted husband. I admired her courage to take her life back. I loved seeing her and Jagger back together after their lengthy separation. Dirty Little Secret is a great addition to this series.
