What would the world look like if all children dreamed big and believed in their stories? It’s that single question that defines/drives the work of children’s author and speaker Renata Bowers, and the company she’s co-founded, Frieda B., LLC.

Author of Frieda B. Herself, Frieda B. Meets the Man in the Moon, Frieda B. and the Zillabeast, Frieda B. and the Finkledee Ink, and Frieda B. A Great Day at the Dog Park, Renata created fictional children’s character Frieda B. to encourage children to dream big and believe they, too, are free to be their own one-of-a-kind, very important story. She’ll tell you she loves little more than sharing the message of Frieda and seeing a child (or adult) light up at the internalization that she/he has an inherent worth.

“We each have this incredibly valuable story, like a lightbulb, inside us,” Renata says. “And so many of us either don’t know it’s there at all, or believe we’re not good enough or it’s too late to light it. That’s nonsense. And so, there’s Frieda. To nudge us to believe, to dream, to flip the switch.”

Building on her own dream, Renata co-founded Frieda B., LLC with dear friend Paula LaJoie to provide a growing line of books, products and services specifically created to encourage and inspire the story within.

Renata also is the author of and Good Dogs, Great Listeners: The Story of Charlotte, Lily and The Litter, which she wrote in conjunction with JoAnn and Joel Bacon of Newtown, CT, about their 6-year-old daughter, Charlotte.

Renata lives in Northern Connecticut with her husband, Dave, and their sons, Hunter and Garreth.

I picked this up at the 2014 AHG Leadership Conference where I met the author and I am tickled with just how fun, relevant and accessible this book is.

Last night my 7 year-old daughter and I sat and read this book together, chuckling over the story and the illustrations. Frieda is an imaginative girl, who, as the title provides, rediscovers along with the reader that she is "free-to-be herself" through this gem of a book.

And it seems that these days we need this simple reminder to use, embrace, seek and celebrate our imaginations.

Perhaps not every girl will identify with Freida, but mine certainly did, from the freckles on her nose to the bare feet but particularly for the imagination under her wiry hair.

I intend to read it to my daughter again and again. And so it gets five stars.

This is so much more than a book - it's a starting point of a really important conversation to be had with kids, and even with adults. Dream big dreams, find what you love to do, find what causes matter to you, and then bring all of that together. That's the story you are meant to tell with your life. Love it!!

Frieda B. is the worlds biggest dreamer. Every night Frieda and her dog Zilla go to wherever she dreams of that night. Frieda and Zilla go to places like the moon, Planet Mandoo, or rides her bed through the clouds. One night Frieda can not think of somewhere to go with Zilla. Has she dreamed too much! Will this be the end of Frieda's imagination? I think this is a funny book and I love the pictures. I would recommend this book to 4-8 year old's. Enjoy reading this book!
