Distracted #1

Greatest Distraction

Rate this book
My name is Ryen Macek. I’m twenty-eight years old, live in Atlanta, Georgia and live a fairly normal life.

Anyway, like most women, I’ve dated and it’s always turned out badly. Most recently that would be Aaron, who decided to trample on my heart in the form of a woman wearing a sheet. Not that I’m bitter, mind you, but, well, I sort of am.

I decided I needed a distraction. I needed to get away from this city, the men in this city, and just… live for awhile. Helllooooo, New York City. I’d stayed here with my best friend while we went to college, and, lucky for me, she kept our apartment.

In true Ryen fashion, what I’m looking for, I find… but is it more than even I could ask for?

Between the paparazzi, high society events, and mob connections, join me while I find the greatest of distractions.

Meg's Review:
Reading this entire novel was like a breath of fresh air. I couldn't get enough of it. Juli found her niche with this novel and it shows in the writing.

Ryen. I don't even know where to start with this girl. She is hilarious. The way the book starts just has you in complete stitches. It is like watching a train wreck. She is just such a mess you can't help yourself from laughing a little and getting pulled right into the novel. She's extremely relatable and utterly fascinating. I was hooked.

Then enter her life into the mix and this is a story you can't put down. Ryen's life has been a series of hurts and struggles that she powers through. Even when she has an easy way out, this girl powers to make something out of herself, she wants to work for everything. I loved that she has such ethic. Ryen also needs a break. A distraction.

So off to find one she goes. A Oh my, is it a lovely #NYDistraction. Enter our Knight in designer armor. Yummy and valiant, exactly what I love in a man. Ryen didn't have insta-love exactly, it was more like Insta-Escape that forces the couples hand. You will see.

This novel is a quick read that left me mouth gaping. It is a CH, BUT it doesn't leave you totally hanging, so don't fret. I really enjoyed it and I will give it to Juli, she does a CF with grace. It gave you just enough closure I didn't feel the need to fly across the ocean and bang on her door till I got the next book. Just barely though.

I highly recommend this read. It is a light hearted read with some twists you never see coming. Kudos Juli, this is your best work yet.

This book is filled with everything in a great book. You have fame, scandals, mobsters, inheritance, legacies, and PASSION. No spoilers here just know that when you open this open you will not want to put it down do make sure you have nothing planned for the day and rest assure when you read the final print Juli is already working on book 2. I loved it from start to finished. The characters were developed beautifully and there is enough information given to make you feel as if you know the scenery even if you haven't been to Atlanta or New York.

Ahhhhhh. SO glad this book is finally out and available for the masses to read!
What a well written, original story! I am a total Juli fan and once again she has created something amazing. What is better than a little mob, a sexy man, a unique girl, a crazy love story .. eekkkk.

Read this book, it is great. I can not wait for the next installment in this story!!!

I was recommended this book by a friend of mine, and thank God I was!! She knows exactly what I like and I had to read this write away. It is definitely a series I will continue to read as soon as the next is released. This book had me laughing and I loved both main characters.

Ryen is awesome. She has had her heartbroken and was then dating a huge gamer. She needed a break after breaking up with him and heads back to New York. Who would have thought that a chance meeting at the airport bar would change her life.

Brian "Dane" is hot and sexy, with amazing green eyes. He is the son of a Mobster. Ryen will not call him Brian because of the rhyming with their names, her explanation had me cracking up over it.

Problems erupt with Dane's dad. I can't wait to get my greedy little eyes on the next book so that I can continue their story and find out just how far his dad will go in order to get what he wants. Juli has now been added to my list of authors to stalk.

She's done it again. I just couldn't put this book down! I literally laughed out loud several times. I loved the story line between her and her New York "distraction". I even enjoyed the conversations she would occasionally have between her and herself in her head. (everyone's been there haha). The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I couldn't buy the second book right away to find out what happens. However, I know it's coming so I guess I will just have to be patient. Great read, and I have already recommended this book to several of my friends. GREAT JOB JULI!!!!

Seriously a cliffhanger? Really? Besides that this book was alright to me it was a slow start things didn't really starting cooking until Dane walked in on the scene, "no. When it's a date, you'll know. I'll be paying then too." Even then though it was still kind of slow, things really started getting heated about 80% into the book. Dane is a passionate man, "suddenly someone cleared their throat behind Dane. "Ignore them - they'll go away," he growled into my open mouth before deepening the kiss. Damned if that wasn't the sexiest thing anyone had ever said to me." He knows how to get his girl to shut up, "shut up, Ryen, don't even deny it. You're going to be a class-A, pain in my a**, and one hell of a distraction." With that, he lowered his mouth to mine, effectively shutting me up." This book could have had more drama I thought because it was just really slow.

Greatest Distraction is a nice story! The book is pretty slow to start, but it is well written. I really like the main character - Ryen. She's strong, sassy, and funny. I can relate to her - as she isn't pretentious. I like the initial scene between her and Dane as well because you can just see that happening! But when they finally meet up again, that's when the book starts to get heated. I would have liked them to be introduced earlier in the story, as I think that would have raised the amount of love scenes and drama/conflict in the book. But it's a great story & I've already started reading Distracted #2 (Global Distraction).

I really loved this book! Very well written and the characters are awesome! I can easily relate to the characters and I love that it is serious, funny, and sexy! The ending was satisfying, but the Epilogue not so much. No I need to read the next one! I cannot wait! This is a must read, very refreshing!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I love this book! It's got humor, love, and a mobster. Ryen is so funny and Brian "Dane" is her perfect match and distraction. Juli Valenti is a wonderful writer. I can't wait to read the next book and find out what happens with this couple.

I could not put this down. I love the characters, I love the relationships, and I love the drama :) I was so glad the second one was already available when I finished, because I needed more Ryen & Dane, and you will, too.
