When I was approached by the author a couple of months ago, to see if this book interested me enough to read and review it, I was honored to read it. [When an author reaches out to me, I feel quite chuffed at the fact they trust my thoughts honestly]


The book

Evelyn was a 16 year old girl, she's not that naive though, she is surrounded by Mafia, the secret world of the Mafia.

Rocco is the guy we meet in the story, he flees from Italy, [he has his reasons]....
and comes to live in America where he is sent to live with Evelyn's family for protection.


Rocco and Evelyn are attracted to each other instantly.

DANGER!

They have to hide their love, keeping it a secret.

As we all know, secrets add to EXCITEMENT, and I fully understand when she tells her father of they're love why the book ended the way it did.

MY THOUGHTS

PERSONALLY...thanks to the author for an ending DIFFERENT from the HAPPY EVER AFTER.

Don't judge me, but......
LIFE doesn't always turn out the way you want it, its sods law and sometimes things go wrong and there is NO HAPPY ENDING....

Whether this author will bring out a book 2, who knows, but for me, I was verging on 3 stars all the way through this book, [which meant is was an OK read, well written and I liked it :)]
I tuned it up to 4 stars because of the ending!

LET ME CORRECT THAT! THERE ARE OTHER BOOKS IN THIS SERIES so not sure if it ends happy in the final stages :)

THANK YOU Tracie Podger for writing an unexpected ending. Not following the 'happy ever after' it 'all works out in the end' the 'roses around the door' syndrome.
Call me what you like LOL BUT its realistic, and although books I read are FICTION they need to be realistic to be believed AND this author rocked it for me!


Thank you Tracie Podger for approaching me, I could have easily missed out on a romance that was GOOD, because lately I've tended to avoid [what I call] "soppy" romances. That's not a 'down' on soppy romances, its just that most of them have bloody happy endings! LOL

I'm not sure where to start with this book!
A story that goes straight to the heart! A book I recommend to anyone who likes a bit of romance and hard ass men!
Evelyn is a sheltered girl living in the world of Mafia. A man name Rocco comes to live with them in America after fleeing from Italy. She was 16 and fell instantly in love. The story is strong, intense, loving and enticing.

By the end I had a huge lump stuck in my throat, it felt like I was living Evelyn's life with her.
The writing by the Author is remarkable, definitely makes you feel like your wherever the story takes you!

It's different to anything I've read, remarkable and unforgettable!

This sweet and tragic novella broke my heart, but I enjoyed the thoughtful insights into Evelyn, she has always intrigued me. Beautifully written. This story will touch and squeeze even the coldest of hearts.

Evelyn is a novella and based around one of the characters in the Fallen Angel series. It concentrates on one aspect of Evelyn's life, one that had a great impact on her and shaped her to be the woman she became. It's not a happy story, but this 'event' brought Robert Stone into her life. A man who was to become so very important to her and the man that would give her the happy ending she deserved, just not in the way you would imagine.

This is the first novella of this series that I have read of this series and I truly loved it. The characters of Evelyn and Rocco are vivid and their love affair is heartbreakingly poignant. However, being a member of a mafia family and loving a man in the life is problematic in many ways. Evelyn falls for Rocco at the tender age of sixteen and he for her. When she turns eighteen it is game on and they dance around each other and hide their relationship, which is also problematic. Not one for spoilers, know that the relationship is sensual and loving in the way that the couple can be and be ready to read on into the series.

This is one of those books that’s been slipped into a series and I can honestly say that if you've decided to read this book before reading the Fallen Angel series, it won’t spoil the flow of this beautifully written trilogy. Thus, you’ll have more of an understanding as to why Evelyn has the stance she has regarding love.

The story starts off when she’s sixteen. She’s totally infatuated with the wrong man and even though she’s been warned to stay clear of him by a person very dear to her heart, she can’t fight against her feelings. She does try to take the advice offered to her, but this gorgeous Italian bad-ass is never far away from her thoughts. Life’s circumstances make her grow up quickly. She accepts that she can’t carry on with her education as there’s a family to look after and a household to run.

Time goes by and Evelyn’s life starts to pick up. It’s only got one thing missing in it, Rocco. In spite of the fact that he’s working for Evelyn’s father and he well knows that his boss would never approve of his daughter having a relationship with anyone like him, doesn't mean he’ll be able to control this seemingly magnetic strong pull towards her. Not only is he quite a bit older than her, he’s also been under her father’s protection for a few years. “Why?” you may ask. Well folks, I'm not letting on!

What I will tell you about is the splattering of extremely hot sex! Explicitly described and like the rest of the book, very well written. I also liked the way she has portrayed her protagonists’ feelings for each other which oscillates between happiness and desperation. What made me really, but really very sad was when they eventually find a solution to their problem! The turn of events were unexpected and had me in tears. I have read Fallen Angel #1 and #2 and loved them. The author has not let me down with Evelyn’s story either and I'm looking forward to reading Fallen Angel - Robert's Story, A Virtual Affair. I hope you don’t make me wait too long Ms Podger. Bravo!

Wow!!! I have only read a handful of novella in the past that pack a load of emotion into every page this novella being one of them!! I loved this book it took me on a rollercoaster of emotions, the main characters had a strength that I loved given their past circumstances and the situation they found themselves in, and all the way through reading this I hoped they would find the future they would dream of but knowing from the start that not all things work out as we hope. This novella can be read as a standalone or part of the Fallen Angel series.
This book shares the story of Evelyn, she is a sixteen year old girl who falls in love with her fathers employee, Rocco is not a straight forward guy yet that doesn't stop Evelyn from blushing everytime he talks to her and being attracted to him even though she knows he could break her heart. Just before her seventeenth birthday her mum dies of cancer and she is left having to grow up quick and support her father and look after her younger siblings, always in the background is Rocco and her feelings for him keep getting stronger then after one night their relationship changes!!!
I loved this novella, it had me grabbing a box of tissues several times while reading it!!! I could read it over and over again, I am definitely going to read the Fallen Angel series next!!!

Evelyn knows that what she feels at age 16 is more than just a crush, its true love. She keeps those feelings buried for two years, scared of what her Dad would think and unsure if Rocco felt the same way. When the feelings are reciprocated the connection they share is strong and they fight to keep it, but life doesn’t always give you the happily ever after you deserve.

This short Novella hits at the emotional strings, you can feel the love and connection that Evelyn and Rocco share. They are two broken souls that complete each other. There is a lot to Rocco, he has a dark broken soul, but he is a loyal and protective man. Evelyn is a strong and caring young woman who at a young age had to become an adult and take care of her siblings. Tracie Podger keeps you in suspense as to where the story will go and I can honestly say that I cried and cried hard with this book, it brings home just how cruel life can be.

If you expect a happy ever after then this book will not deliver, but it does deliver a short gripping story of a young emotional romance. If you love contemporary romance and suspense, then this novella will deliver that for you.

This book is about Evelyn It showing you when she meets the love of her life and how her family ran. It also showed all the insides of what she had to go through just to be the person she was meant to be. She loved her family so much but she needed more for herself as well.
I was a bit disappointed because i was hoping for this great romance between Evelyn and Rocco they did have a whirlwind romance. something that was forbidding that made it even better. Then when Evelyn was ready to tell her father about her and Rocco something happens.
This book truly made me sad and I wished for more then it offered It ended quicker then i woul do liked and Didn't give me any hope for the future. I do think Tracie is a amazing Writer and she can captivate an audience with no problems. I just wish this book didn't make me sad the way it ended

I was given this book to Beta-Read, and I enjoyed every last sentence and comma of it.

Evelyn can be read as part of the series or as a stand alone book, it tells the dramatic and hauntingly tragic story of Evelyn and the love of her life - Rocco; before she meets the scorchingly sexy Robert Stone and his faithful friend and confident Travis. An amazing story, full of joy, angst, passion and sorrow, I defy you not to be moved by Tracie Podger's latest, beautifully written episode in the Fallen Angel series. Come on Tracie - get writing - we want more!!

Such a heartbreaking story... Beautiful!

I'm always amazed when reading one of Tracie's books how perfectly and withouth any force she creates a heroine wich deep down we all crave to be. So strong but passionate and warm. Evelyn is one of them and although she'd lost what she loved so much, she's always there for others. And I'm not quite sure who helped who more: she or Robert?

I will say this book is a proper heart puller - with tradegy of her loss of her mother and how her sheltered life of being brought up within the world of the mafia, then Evelyn discovers her true first love, Rocco.

Evelyn's feelings are buried at first due to her age but when she becomes 18, she cant hide no more, but does Rocco feel the same way?

With such an intense storyline and with Evelyn's upbringing what would her dad think of her becoming involved with Rocco?

The emotions and feelings are so powerful that Evelyn and Rocco's story really did hit me hard at the end, making you wonder what is next for Evelyn.

Wasn't the ending I saw coming!!

I love to read mafia books and this one was a good short story. This story included enough backstory so we had a good idea of the family life and the relationship between Rocco and Evelyn. As we watched the relationship grow between the 2 it wasn't like the typical mafia couple. In the end it was a bit surprising and emotional how the relationship turned out. This book really showed how people can change when faced with traumatic situations. This was great fast read I couldn't put down!!

I am a new reader for Tracie Podger. It was really well written and I loved it which is unusual since I tend to avoid Mafia stories. I know it was a Novella that could be read as a standalone but also allowed another story have more background, but I am so sad that Rocco and Evelyn didn't get their chance. They were so sweet together and I loved how rough he was with others (from Evelyn's POV) yet so gentle and soft with her. And the letter . . . . OMG Heartbreaking. I will be looking forward to reading more of Tracie Podger!

This is a short story that is Evelyn's early life, meeting Rocco and falling in love. It is sad but ends on an uplifting moment that changes her life's course and gives her a different kind of love. This can be read at any stage really through the Fallen Angel series, since it takes place before the main series starts and doesn't have any of the main events that appear in the series, apart from the fateful day she meets a boy with black eyes. It was nice to get this insight into her early years and the romance she had with Rocco.

I really like this book. The story quickly drew me in and held me captive until I turned the last page. This is a beautiful story and I cried, I had to go in search of tissues. The story is well told with believable characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Evelyn Morietti is a young girl whose mother passed away and her father is in the mafia. She has a lot on her plate, stepping in taking care of her little brother and her sister has retreated into herself, since their mom died.

She's been in love with Rocco since she was sixteen. He is her father's second in command. Her mom has always known Evelyn was in love with Rocco, and she told Evelyn a few months before she passed, that she wanted more for Evelyn in life.

On Evelyn's eighteenth birthday, she went to bed and was woken up by noises. Rocco was bloody and Evelyn went to help him. Rocco made his move and kissed her. Upon realizing what he had done, Rocco knew he messed up.

Evelyn had gotten a letter her mother had left her, to open on her eighteenth birthday, and it said for her to ask her father for a housekeeper. Her mom wished for her to go out and do things, work, and live her life.

Evelyn told her father what was in the letter and what her mother has requested, so she found a job. One day, her father had to go away on business. Evelyn stopped by her father's office to tell Rocco she would need a car to take her to the movies. Rocco asked who was she going with. When Evelyn said that she was going alone, Rocco invited her out to dinner.

Over dinner, Rocco told the story of how his father and brother were murdered and how he came to America.

There was a bit of a misunderstanding at the end of the evening, but it brought Evelyn and her sister Maria, closer together.

The next day, Evelyn was at church and Rocco was waiting for her out on the steps. He took her back to his place, and Evelyn lost her virginity to Rocco.

I would like to make a side note, that this was the most "real" description I have ever read about someone losing their virginity. I hate reading where "the virgin" somehow knows what she is doing; doing tricks and miraculously has multiple orgasms. This was not the case at all. It was true-to-life; her reaction when she got out of bed was real and even her feelings about needing to pee was real-to-life as well. That was very important to me, whilst reading.

Over the course of the few days Evelyn's father was away, she and Rocco spent a lot of time together.

When her father came back, he had heard rumors of Rocco having a girlfriend. Rocco of course brushed it off, and it hurt Evelyn's feelings. Over the next few days, Evelyn's dad had kept Rocco away, so Rocco and Evelyn snuck away together. A few times actually.

I won't go any further and spoil the ending, but this was definitely a story I wasn't expecting. The last chapter threw me for a loop, Rocco's letter to Evelyn threw me for a loop, and Evelyn's letter blew my mind. It made me feel all the feels. Evelyn mentions an old saying in her letter. That is my motto! I use that saying for everything! It really connected with me.

This tells the story of Evelyn……her life before she met a young child named Robert Stone on a street one day.Evelyn was sixteen when she fell in love with Rocco.Rocco had been sent to live with Evelyns family (why youll have to read and find out!)Evelyn was the daughter of the man who offered him his home and protection.He didn’t bank on Evelyn ….he kept his distance they fought their feelings as Evelyn grew into a beautiful young woman it was only a matter of time before these two gave in to their desires.Rocco knows Evelyns father is a powerful man and would never agree to him being with his daughter so they meet in secret,have stolen moments and try to be together whenever they can.Rocco and Evelyn are hot together and the sex scenes are hot sexy but beautiful too you can feel the love between these two.But just when you think you know where this beautiful love story is going Tracie takes you in a different direction!!!Its beautifully written,she does a fantastic job of bringing the young,innocent and shy Evelyn to life you cant help but love her.Rocco because of the job he has youd think hed be the tough, rough and ready type with no room for love but with Evelyn hes different hes gentle caring loving and passionate I totally fell for him!

The story of Evelyn and Rocco will stay with me for a long time to come, as I write this review I'm recovery form one of the worst/ best ugly cries ever, this book broke my heart.
This book is a novella to accompany the two novels in the Fallen Angel series, it's the story of Evelyn, Robert Stones, savour, housekeeper and friend.
Evelyn is sixteen, staring to blossom as a young woman when she falls head over heels for the dark and dangerous Rocco who has been smuggled out of Italy to save his life. what starts of as a young love forms into a deep love that will last a lifetime ( I'm crying again ) but with her father the head of a powerful organisation - will it be that straight forward for them to be together?
This book gives a lot more depth to the character of Evelyn, she is so much more than someone who Robert confines in, I now understand why she is the wAy she is. We also see how she meets Robert and what her thoughts are on first seeing him.
This is a beautiful story about a love that lasts forever and one that will never die ( I'm crying again )

As a reader, I often have mixed views on a release of a novella. I sometimes feel cheated out of a full story, or disappointed it wasn't included in the regular novel. Tracie Podger's release of Evelyn is a wonderful supplement to the Fallen Angel series. Evelyn is the big sister, motherly figure in Brooke and Robert's story. I loved her as a secondary character and was intrigued to read her story. We find out about her late teens, growing up in "the family". We discover as a young girl, Evelyn did find her one true love. And she loved fiercely. Evelyn's story is bittersweet. With an unexpected ending, we learning that the happily ever after for Evelyn is not what readers will expect.

If you are a fan of the Fallen Series, you will want to read about Evelyn and how she came to be a part of Robert and Travis's life. She is an exceptional character Tracie Podger has developed fully to be a fan favorite in the series.

As I read the last page of this book I thought to myself ... "How am I supposed to review this without spoilers?"

Several days later I still do not have an answer to this question. In fact this book has left me with more questions than answers about Evelyn and her choices.

Evelyn is well written and there is good character development. There is a bit of mystery and intrigue (Mafia connection) along with some romantic angst. Evelyn, although sheltered in many ways has a strong will and a good sense of self. She is a young lady who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it.

I liked Evelyn. Its plot line is different from most e-books out on the market and in my humble opinion well worth the time spent reading it. (Now if I could only get the most burning of my questions answered it would be... Evelyn, why forever?)

This is the second book of Tracie Podger's which I have read. I thought the first one was brilliant but this one was even better. I highly recommend it

I love Eveyln's strength of character and determination, especially when it comes to Rocco and her instant attraction to this mysterious, dark and extremely sexy man.

Rocco won my heart from the start of the book when he sweeps in to protect Evelyn's honour, in such a small way, but it made me swoon. He is the man for me so Evelyn can just step aside haha!

This book is easy to read and I was hooked till the very last page. Off to read Rocco now...so happy it has been released before finishing Evelyn otherwise I would be hunting Tracie Podger down to find out what happens next! lol
