Liz loses her job when her boss is caught giving a massage client “special treatment.” But this turns out to be the beginning of a series of good things for Liz. She gets a new job, moves away from her small town, even meets a handsome firefighter. So why isn’t she happy? A fun romp that explores what it takes to move away from the family and friends you grew up with and try new things. The mystery takes some awkward turns, but development of the main characters is exemplary!

I’d love to hang out with Liz. She’s a great character. She has a can do attitude, a great relationship with her mother, very supportive friends who she loves like siblings and while having a boyfriend and thinking eventually of children would be great it’s not something she obsesses over. She dreams of the opportunities the bigger city may offer and when she’s there she doesn’t flounder. Fort Wayne is a challenge this chipper go-getter can handle. Liz does have faults. Making half-caff coffee?

3+ STAR RATING- This had the potential to be a better read then it was. My biggest problem was I just didn't like the heroine that much. I didn't hate her but she was my least favorite type of female character...pathetic. She felt bad about herself, let everyone walk over her, had a hard time making decisions... it was too much for me to ever really connect with her. Other than that, the story was cute although it did have a lower steam level then I was expecting. I think I may have also liked i

This is the second book in the Hometown Heroes series. It can also be read as a standalone. Kyra Jacobs has got a new fan! I absolutely LOVED this book! It was incredibly easy to get wrapped up in the story, small town girl moves to the big city, hot fireman seems to be everywhere she turns, making her crush on him that much harder to manage. Sparks are flying... literally. A firebug seems to be targeting her. With so ...more

Really enjoyed this book. Had a really interesting story to it. Gotta love imagining giving massages to a hot, nearly-naked fireman. I liked Liz and could feel her small hometown life just about smothering her. I enjoyed her friends from home, Mitch and Sarah, but they both seemed like they wanted to keep her grounded there and not allowed to spread her wings. I could understand her longing to get out and go to the big city. I loved Torrunn and his buddies at the fire house. Enjoyed her new frie

Overall, Flirting With Fire was an entertaining read and I'd give it a 3.5 rating. I did like it but I can't say I loved it or ever felt like I HAD to keep reading. And I can't really pinpoint what it was that kept me from enjoying it more. At times it just felt like something was missing. I'm sorry. I know that's not terribly helpful as far as an explanation goes but that's all I can really say. I appreciate the opportunity I was given to read Flirting With Fire in exchange for an honest review

Another satisfying installment in the series
I read this book immediately after reading the first in the series, but they can easily be stand alones. The major characters from the first book do make an appearance here, but you don't need to know their history to enjoy this book. That being said, those that have read both will be that much more appreciative of what I consider to be some inside jokes.

Flirting With Fire by Kyra Jacobs is indeed the best alluring romance novel to date. Her novel instantly grabs readers’ attention and draws them into the plot. The plot is well written and begins with sparks flying everywhere. And I mean everywhere. There is always a fire whenever Liz is around. She wants to leave the small town if she can’t make a living doing what she wanted to do. Somehow, she manages to stay and do her work. And it isn’t long before a very tempting firefighter comes her way.

I enjoyed the first 85% of the book. Was really disappointed by the complete lack of sexi time. The last 10% of the book felt completely rushed. The resolution and the person responsable for all the troubles was so out of the blue that it appear unconnected with the story.
I'm giving it 3 stars because I did love their banter and how they were together. But the overall feeling after finishing was kind of unsatisfying. ...more

Kyra Jacobs is an extroverted introvert who writes of love, humor and mystery in the Midwest and beyond. When this Hoosier native isn’t pounding out scenes for her next book, she's likely outside, elbow-deep in snapdragons or spending quality time with her sports-loving family. “Ew.” Tony’s face scrunched up like he’d just bit into a lemon. “Well we can’t have you making out with a relative, assumed or not. It’s not like we’re in Kentucky.” I stared at him, wide-eyed. “I have good friends in Kentucky, Tony.” “Y-you do? Well, I didn’t mean, I mean, it’s just an—”
