My original Lilac Lane audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.
Lilac Lane is the second book in the Stutter Creek series, but the third I have read, as I ended up reading these in the wrong order. But that didn’t really matter, as each book works fine as a standalone and focuses on one couple in particular. Characters from the other books in the series make an appearance, which is quite nice because after a couple of Stutter Creek books it feels like you are returning

What a fantastic read this was and a surprising one at that. I was so geared up for this book, loved the sound of the plot, everything. So I settled down ready to get stuck into it. Next thing I knew I had finished it, in one sitting.

I listened to Lilac Lane on the way home from a book conference on audiobook, and the story made the drive home seem much shorter. This is the second book in the series, and although I hadn't listened to the first book, Stutter Creek, this book stood on its own. The narrative chronicles the lives of characters Ella and her ten-year-old son, Nick, as they move from Albuquerque, New Mexico to the town of Stutter Creek--specifically ending up in a rented house on Lilac Lane. As Ella flees her mother ...more

Oh I so wish I would have read the first book before this one, I had it too and didn't realize!! So when I offered to read and review this for Ann Swann and give my honest opinion, I wish I had remembered, but, I will be going back and reading the first book in this series.

Ella and her son move into their new home. Its a safe place for them and they are just beginning to relax a bit.

The trouble is, not long after moving in, Nick her son hears some disturbance in the attic, which alarming he wa

I couldn't put this book down. Just had to finish it before I could sleep! Ann Swann, a new author for me, has this spooky/mystery genre down pat.

Elle and her son Nick move to a rural ski lodge town after her now ex-husband is jailed for hitting her. When scary things begin to happen in their big, old rental house, Elle tries to explain them away. Her mother didn't tell her that her ex had been released from jail early.

What ensues is a nail biting

LILAC LANE s a captivating, great book by an even more amazing author! It’s a must-read for every reader who enjoys a good mystery book, and it has a romantic twist that makes it even better. I knew that Ann Swann was an amazing talent, but this book took my breath away. The author’s talent was really showcased in this novel. I started it one morning and literally couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Absolutely fantastic book!

Lilac Lane is a great mystery, a bit of a psychological thriller with a dash of romance and easily as good as Stutter Creek, the first book in this delightful series. A new cast of characters, in the same setting, this book could also be a stand-alone.

Ella and her son Nicky are the newcomers to Stutter Creek and small-town life as well. Ella is the town's new drugstore owner and I was delighted to discover it is also the local hangout and caterer! I had nearly forgotten the delights o

Lilac Lane by Ann Swann was a very enjoyable romance/mystery book. Ella and her son, Nicky move to Stutter Creek to start a new life. There is a love interest, Chet. Ella's abusive ex-husband, Anson has been in jail and wants revenge. It's a quick easy read and I kept wanting to get home to get back to the book. I found the ending very suspenseful. This I liked!!!
I wish I would have read Stutter Creek before reading this one, but since I won it in a giveaway I didn't know.

I love reading romantic suspense, so I had a feeling I was going to enjoy Lilac Lane by Ann Swann. And I liked reading the suspenseful parts of noises in the attic, lights going out at night, and the unusual and scary surprises. The romance between Ella and Chet was sweet and promising, and author's sense of humor made me smile. But what made this book an even a better read for me was the great relationship between Ella and her son. It was very endearing, and also showed the growth of both of th ...more

Ella Webb and her 10-year-old son Danny have just moved to Stutter Creek from Albuquerque to begin a new life after leaving leaving her ex-husband Anson in prison for threats and abuse. Only her mother knows where she has moved to because she is afraid if Anson ever found out he might hunt them down as he threatened to do that last day in the courthouse.

Settling in at Stutter Creek as the new owner of the Drugstore Cafe was easier than she had hoped for with all the friendly people of Stutter Cr

My Thoughts: As I write my first thoughts about this story, moments after I’ve completed the read, I’m trying to get my heart rate to normal and the adrenalin rush from this terrific suspense to abate. It was just WOW! Such a page-turner. I was scared out of my living mind!

From the first chapter we learn that Ella's ex, Anson, has gotten out of jail for good behavior and overcrowding. He was put there when Ella called the police after roughing her up. The look and words she received from him whe

4/5 Angel wings

When our heroine Elle discovers that her husband has abused her 10-year-old son, Nick, she acts quickly, calls the police, does all she should do as a mother p

I really liked this book. It was well written, very suspenseful, kept me guessing all the way through, and was a very enjoyable story. There were lots of little twists and happenings to keep your interest, including a little romance. This was not an overbearing romance, definitely more suspense with a touch of romance - it was done very well.

I thought the character development was great. The author did a great job on the whole cast. I felt like I got to know each one equally well. I really like

While reading this book, I really thought that the outcome was going in a completely different direction than where it actually went. I saw four possible directions, and would have been thoroughly entertained by any of them. The author waits until the last possible moment to reveal her intent. I was definitely kept on the edge of my seat -- to the point where I was completely oblivious to the fact that my husband and one of his friends were trying to talk to me as I was reading it.

Great plot. E

This is the second book in the Sutter Creek Series, but it can be read as a stand alone! This is the first book I picked up from Ann Swann and it won't be my last. Every round I hear after finishing this story has me on the edge of my seat! lol

Ann Swann does a great job of giving us realistic characters that encounter real world situations and make you feel like you are part of the story. Lilac Lane will suck you right in and keep you on edge throughout the last page. I was sad to see it end.

This was a fast moving read. It showed the dangers of staying in abusive relationships and how even the worst circumstances can be surmounted. The characters were all real and it was east to relate to them. Looking forward to Ms. Swann's next book. I read this through goodreads.

Recommends it for: suspence and romance readers
Lilac Lane carries intrigue as to the culprit of the sound.
To mother and child it seems almost paranormal. The truth is more frightening.

I really enjoyed this story, I found it to be a real page turner, even though you knew the husband was released from prison. Well written, and I would read more by Ann Swann any day.
This story just tore me up from the abuse to the emotions the author brings to the table as well as the romance of a new love and learning to trust all over again. There are many ways to abuse someone and this family has them all. I wanted so much to reach in and pull mother and child out of this book just to give them a breather from the hateful man they called husband and father. There is so much chilling suspense my heart stopped a few times. There is also lots of humor, smiles and laughs but ...more

A Great Set Of Love And Mysteries!

These are the first books I’ve read by Ann Swan and I was pleasantly surprised! Each book has a great love story and an even greater mystery. The characters are well fleshed out and Stutter Creek could be where you go on vacation, retire or it might be home for you. The town and characters are very realistic and you will fall in love with both. The mysteries are each different and each one keeps you guessing. I will definitely be reading more of Ms. Swann’s book
